THE SACRED MILITARY CONSTANTINIAN ORDER OF SAINT GEORGE

The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George is believed to be the most ancient of the Catholic Orders of Chivalry. The Order is under the royal protection of The Royal House of Bourbon - Two Sicilies, in fact it is the only international Catholic Order with an hereditary Grand Mastership. Although it is under the protection of a Royal House and its membership includes many distinguised Nobles, Princes of the Church, national leaders and Catholic elite, the Order is not about honours and decorations. It has always been, a call to religious service in a Roman Catholic chivalric sodality dedicated to propaganda of the Faith, Defense of the Church and support of the Holy See. Early in its history the Constantinian Order received confirmation as a Religious-Militay Order from the Holy See, with the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta, is the only international Catholic Order which has maintained this unique status unchanged to the present day. Membership is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. It is a solem, lifetime commitment that cannot be undertaken without deep reflection.

AIMS OF THE ORDER

The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George is an Order of Chivalry which, from its earliest origins, has supported the glorification of the Cross, the propaganda of the Faith and the defense of the Holy Roman Church, its special legacy through service in the Orient fighting the infidel and the many proofs of the recognition and regard of the Supreme Pontiffs.

It is not only required that the Knights should lead the lives of perfect Christians but that they must participate in every manifestation which contributes to the development of the principles of religion among people and co-operate with all who revive the practice of Christianity.

The Order, to strengthen its secular institution, must be willing to adapt to the exigencies of the times which, while evolving, have transformed the structure of modern society, and must dedicate itself to the two greatest and most important social works, hospital assistance and charity.
