To start with the airsoft gun has 3 kinds of mechanisms to fire its plastic pellets.
The first one is the spring powered gun.
It is usually used very common is any kind of airsoft gun.
It lacks a bit in power if your opponent is wearing thick clothing which makes
him or her not feel anything when they are hit. You can always changes the springs for more power. Prices range from about $30-$500 or more depending on which kind of gun it is modeled after and if it can perform full auto and such. No need for batteries or gas to add pressure so it is very economical.
The 2nd mechanism is the electrically powered gun.
Usually powered by AA batteries it is commonly used in a Sub machine gun and assalt rifle bb guns.
Basically The electric one gives more power to full auto and such.
The price for the electrically powered guns could cost from $50 and up.
The last one is the gas powered it is pretty painful if hit by close range by these guns. It fires with pressure so they make a audible noise when fired. (Silencers are available on most guns) It is powerful and is usually used in handguns and such.
Prices are usually not very cheap for these ones as it could go from $90 and up.
Now for the types of bb guns you could purchase.
Handgun:the most known type of bb gun.
Includes P99, Desert eagle, M93R, SOCOM, Glock17, USP , Baretta92fs and so on...
Most of them look really realistic
but you can purchase non realistic looking ones like the see through model and such at some stores.
Acsessories could be put on if available such as a laserpointer, silencer, Scope and more!

Sub machine guns and machine guns:
includes the MP5A3, MP5RAS, MP5J, Mac 10, TMP, Thompson SMG and more.
Most of them look very real!
You can customize these kinds of guns with a scope (for certain kinds of MP5s), a silencer (for MP5), and a laserpointer (Most guns).
*Most are electric but some are spring
Shotgun
Includes the Spaz shotgun and such.
I am not very familiar with these guns but they really hurt.
Probably a laserpointer could fit on the shotgun bb guns.
Rifles (my personal favorite)
Includes the Dragunov sniper rifle, M16, M4, G36, M21 sniper rifle, Dragunov sniper rifle, AK-47, AR-15,
AK-74, Steyer, and so on.
I belive they all could be fitted with a laserpointer and some could be fitted with a scope. (bipods are available too)
*Electric ones are the basic mechanism for these guns although some run on spring.
Miniguns (Hellraiser)
I never bought one of these but I bet no one would.
It is over $1000 each.
How crazy is that?
But if anyone buys a minigun I bet they can use up 1,000 bbs in just 2, 3 seconds or so.
I think airsoft arenas won't allow miniguns.
The only possible thing I can think to put on a minigun is a laserpointer.
