Creature Name: Shadow Phoenix
General
Description:
Shadow Phoenix are the only birds on Triial to posses magical abilities akin
to those of the dragons. All Shadow Phoenix have black flames and feathers
for their bodies and colored flames and feathers for their tales and head
plume. The eyes of a Shadow Phoenix are the same color as their tales and
head plume. Shadow Phoenix are by nature peaceful creatures and only get aggressive
when their Chosen or their young are threatened. Unlike their draconic cousins
the Shadow Phoenix only live in small groups. The most that have ever been
seen together in the wild are three breeding pairs and their current clutch
of young. The few that choose to live among the dragons, humans or other Triiallan
creatures may sometimes show up in greater numbers. Most Shadow parents will
allow their young to stay with them for nearly a year, only chasing them away
when it is again time for the parents to mate.
