The Holt

Hello! My name is Darkmoon, and as one of the scouts and guards in the tribe I'll give you a little guidance tour through the woods. There's a lot of things to see, so let's get going already!

Surroundings

There are four large trees in the Holt where the elves live, the trees face each other in a circle with the den openings mostly on the inside of the ring. Just beside the Holt flows a river, and a little bit further away is a small lake. Mostly the lake is used to bathing and such events while the elves take their drinking water from the river etc.

East from the Holt, about an hour's walk away, is the human village. Just so you know, this is about the time when Bearclaw is chief, so you know about what the humans are like right now. The humans don't think well of the elves, but they rarely attack the Holt, partly because it's quite a long way there and also because they know the elves are very good fighters.

The trolls' caves lie about two hour's walk away in south. They aren't exactly hostile, in the past there has been wars between elves and trolls, but now some kind of peace has been accomplished. The trolls trade with the elves, but the atmosphere is mostly quite tense.

In the end of the forest in southwest, about half an hour's walk away, begins a great grass field, where especially the youngsters go to practice their hunting skills: the field is full of mice, ravvits and other small animals. But also other animals and sometimes even humans may hunt here, so it can be dangerous at times.

Climate

Hotgrowth (summer), Colourfalls (autumn), Snowhide (winter), Newlife (spring).
Nothing special about the climate, but that in hotgrowth it is quite warm, about 15 - 25 centigrades, even 30 centigrades on a good day. In the snowhide the temperature drops to 0 - -25 centigrades, but sometimes it can even be -30 centigrades. The newlife and colourfalls are in between, and often quite rainy: in newlife there is often the danger of floods. So dress up your elves properly! :)

Celebrations

A celebration is held in the beginning of every season, plus also when Recognition, birth or lifemating occurs. Death is mourned with a howl.

The chiefs

More info on the chiefs may come!

Sunspring: our first chieftess who led us to Smoke Wood. She Recognized Tall Oak and they got a daughter, Willow.
Willow: Recognized Firepool twice though never lifemating him, first giving birth to a son, Nutbrown, then to a daughter, Brightbird.
Nutbrown: Recognized Runswift, a complete opposite to his calm personality, against his will and almost died when refusing to join, but eventually gave up. Runswift gave birth to twins, the daughter Swordfall and son Rillfox. Swordfall would have become chieftess hadn't she accidentally fallen on her sword, become permanently injured in her legs and gone crazy because of not being able to hunt anymore.
Rillfox: Recognized Hillwind after saving her from falling off a cliff. Hillwind gave birth to a son, Growl.
Growl: a very wolf-spirited chief who almost didn't manage being a leader. He was encouraged and helped a lot by his Recognized lifemate, Keen-ears, whom he had Recognized twice. She gave birth to their daughter Mistcome and son Keeper.
Mistcome: very loved by her tribe. She Recognized and lifemated Firetail at first, giving birth to Redshine, then Recognized Boldmouth, whom she didn't like and didn't lifemate with, and gave birth to a son, Smokeshade. She died when he was a cub and left Redshine as chief and caretaker of her half-brother.
