Outback Child ~ Smocked Dress with Australian 'Outback' Theme
This unusual dress is sized to fit a little girl aged between 2 and 3 yrs old.
A cream coloured lace has been used to make the free coat-hanger.
The rear yoke sections of this dress, which are as long as the smocked section in the front of the dress, have a couple of small darts to allow ease of movement in the longer bodice back. The piping of these sections is in the dark brown fabric as is the piping on the sleeve cuffs. At the neckline there is a double row of piping, one in dark brown and the other in a deep orange.
In a warm cream colour, which contrasts with the piping in deep brown and orange this dress has been smocked to an aboriginal theme, or Australian 'Outback' theme. The complex design, over an extended area that would reach to waist level, is worked in three colours... dark brown, orange and golden yellow. The two 'serpent' pattern is worked in those same three colours. Tiny embroidered 'bars' in golden yellow are a feature of the overall pattern.
There is a generous four button rear opening allowing lots of room to pass over the child's head.
Nape to hem this dress measures 50 cms and there is a 6cm hem which can be dropped to extend the life of the garment.
