Smocked Dresses for Two to Three Year Olds

Depending upon the size of the child this dress could well fit her until her fourth year as it is one of the longest ones in this size range.
White lace has been used to make the free coat-hanger.
Looking cool and crisp the dress is made from a white fabric with light blue spots. The yoke sections, collars and cuffs are piped in a pale blue colour to match the spots.
There is a generous sized two button opening at the back of the dress.
The smocking design is a simple mathematical pattern in a darker, dusky blue colour than the spots on the dress, and this is the understated background for the richly encrusted heart design in the centre of the pattern. Red and gold beads are interspersed with grub roses worked in two shades of blue.
Although this dress is for an older child - for safety's sake, these... like all the beads on my garments, have been triple stitched, fastened off with a couple of 'smocker's knots' and sealed with fabric sealer.
Nape to hem, the length of this dress is 51cm and there is a 6.5 cm hem that can be dropped to extend the wearing lifetime of the dress.
