Smocked Baby Dresses and Rompers
Rosebud ~ Smocked, Beaded and Embroidered Dress
Part of the Celtic Dreaming collection, this is a dress for a very special little girl.
The free lace coat-hanger is also in pink.
Sized to fit approximately from a newborn to a six months old baby girl and made in a rich pink shade this dress is one of the very few for a young baby that are beaded.
The full smocked bodice in an effective trellis pattern is beaded with pearl coloured beads. The neckline is embroidered with alternating pink and white 'Grub roses', the white has a bead in the centre of each. A row of double width white nylon lace (one narrow row and one wider row) completes the neckline decoration. The puff sleeves are dotted randomly with more of the beads and the sleeve cuffs are embroidered with two pink and one white 'Grub roses' on each.
Note: This is a 'dream' of a dress but please err on the side of caution if you are in doubt. I recommend that it not be used for a brand new baby. Very young babies are vulnerable to inhaling small objects. For safety's sake I have triple stiched each of these beads, fastened each thread off with a couple of 'smocker's knots' and sealed these threads with fabric sealer. Personally, I love this dress but I would rather cut it up than have it damage a baby.
Nape to hem this dress measures 38cm.
Because of the style of the dress, it could be worn with white tights in the manner of an 'angel top' after baby has grown too long to wear it as a dress.
