Today, our everyday life in the United States has become increasingly dependent on the vulnerable information infrastructure.  Computers are required for the smooth running of many tasks.  Financial networks, oil and gas pipelines, water reservoirs and sewage treatment plants, air traffic control systems, telecommunication networks, emergency services, and power grids are a few examples (Pasternak and Auster 37).
