THE FIRST TIME
Two men they stood over a body As they searched it, the package was gone A waiter ran off, he must have it The man yelled as he started to run
In the quiet suburbs of Virginia A famly was starting the day Asked again if she planned to wed Dean, her reply Was not yet Im a new divorcee
Amanda took Dean to the station A nightgown was all she had on She was grabbed by a hazel-eyed waiter Being chased by a man with a gun
I need you to help me he pleaded Though reluctant, she finlly agreed Give this to the man in the red hat On the train, its something he needs
Skeptically Amanda took it Only thinking of those hazel eyes As she got on the train she looked backward It was then that she noticed his cries
They were beating him up on the platform She didnt know what else to do So she turned to the carriage beside her There was no one to give her a clue
With them all in red hats she was puzzled By the package she held in her hand She was riding on board with no ticket In the future she thought shed be banned
But the ticket collector was friendly And she purchased her ticket right there But concern for the hazel-eyed waiter Made her think that she really could care
The waiter had made it to Georgetown Although looking a bit worse for wear He smiled as he thought how hed made his escape As he pushed his hands up through his hair
Billy Melrose was waiting for Stetson So you lost it At least Im not dead... Unloading those thugs was no day at the beach Straighten your badge Billy said
Francine Desmond was already waiting You could see she was glad he was back They were called to the principals office You can come, you can help take the flak
In Internal Affairs he was questioned He explained how the hand off went down Dirk was angry, upset at the weak link they had At that shot, Lees face turned to a frown
No ones guilty said Billy, Weve proved it Then the football talk started to flow Agent Guthries turned up, but hes dead in the morgue They were confused, could only ask how?
Were on football again for some reason Then that stops and the doc has some news He said Guthrie was waiting for Stetson And that is when Dirk blew a fuse
Francine said the Scarecrow delivers And the Munich case was a success Theres a brunette out there with a package Who she is, I dont know, I confess
In her house she stares hard at the parcel Then she takes the boys out to drive-thru And the waiter, whos dressed as a pirate Shows himself to be hazel-eyed too
Get away from my car cries Amanda And she drives off the lot in reverse As Lee places his card on the windshield He yells Call me! Could things get any worse?
Amanda, she ponders the number When Lee answers he raises concerns A meeting is made for five that same day Meanwhile Dotty she watches and learns
Mrs Welch is the one whos on TV Its her Colonial Cookery show When the boys see how nicely Amandas fixed up She hurriedly says Gotta go
Dotty asks her where is it shes going Because Dean is surely going to call At my club is the answer she gives her Dotty doesnt believe her at all
Youre a spy? says Amanda, Youre really A spy We like agent instead As he raises concerns for her safety The parcels not here our girl said
On the way to his car he is angry As her logic is making him sick Its insurance in case you would kill me Then the bad guys arrive Lets hide, quick
They escape on a cart in the garage And return to the house where they dry But when Dotty asks which club she goes to Its for clams, mother Another lie
Wheres the package? Amanda asks Dotty Oh, I mailed it her mother did say And it was no picnic because I dont drive Lee could tell it was not his best day
Lee calls Billy to authorise access To the Post Office where they must go In order to find the small parcel Three hours later they find it? Well no!
While with Dean the boys make a confession Philip opened the package and saw That the music box, well it was broken But a small card did fall to the floor
Agent Jeffries well he didnt make it Nor did Fielding in Portland last night I need Lee on the job by tomorrow Dirk agreed but his lips he kept tight
It was late when they met in their trenchcoats By the Capitol Building they stood As she gave him the code Philip gave her Lee was sure that the message was dud
As Lee warns her about all the danger And his fears that she might just screw up She gets angry but softens at his face As he mentions a bodys turned up
With these agents all dying around them The Agencys having a scare But Lees got a new job for tomorrow So she tells him that he must take care
Cleaning and stretching while thinking of clues To the words Philip read on that card Valley Forge Flapjacks and Nathan Hale Duck Also Pilgrims Peach Puff this was hard
In the kitchen she looked through her cook books But the recipes couldnt be found Then she looked at her mothers boxed recipe cards There they were, her deductions were sound
Mrs Welch had provided the dishes And Amanda knew this was a clue But she couldnt get hold of Lee Stetson He was out on a case, that she knew
While they watched, Lee went into a building With his gun drawn he walked down a hall He was struck on the head by the bad guys He was down without even a call
At the studios Amanda looked for The timings of the cooking show When she saw they tied up with the murders She just knew that she now had to go
As her mother arrived she was leaving An emergency down at her club Clams again, dear? Her mother did ask her Disbelieving she joined the hubbub
In her car she drove out to a big house Mrs Welchs, to just look around I hope I can look back and laugh she murmured Then she knocked all the fruit to the ground
As the man on the drive was distracted She went into the cellar to look For the agent, Lee Stetson, or something At a noise though she hid in a nook
Then she heard him, she knew it, but now what? Then the room she was in it did move She could see it, Francine being questioned and drugged At this point she had something to prove
Mrs Welch was the one who was guilty Using Francine to get all the dirt As Olga took notes about date, place and time Mrs Welch spoke to Olga, so curt
Lee was led out by guards to a helo That had landed right there on the lawn As he looked to the car then he saw her What action to take? He was torn
He knew of the danger they faced there If he didnt do something right quick As she ran out, yelled Freeze with her fingers He could see how her mind it did tick
Amanda climbed into the helo With his hands tied Amanda would fly As the bad guys they failed to pursue them To escape them they surely would try
I put sugar into that cars gas tank She explained when the car wouldnt start I saw Philip do it one time to Deans car As they flew through the sky like a dart
They flew backwards and forwards, upwards and down When she asked how she did, he said Fine But she noticed that he had his eyes shut Then he looked to the sky for a sign
The baddies fired up at the helo Using Amandas car to pursue As Lee gave Amanda instructions She could not find out quite what to do
Then suddenly Lee looked her over What are you wearing? he said In replying she said to him What do you care? Lee was certain theyd soon both be dead
The chasing continued for some time Then Amandas car drove down a ditch We got em they yelled, then they realised That to land there was one little hitch
That same evening in Amandas kitchen As her mother prepared the salad Amanda rushed in like a whirlwind Deans meal would be late just a tad
Next day in the Agency building With Billy and Francine there too Amanda explained while Lee listened As she rambled about how they flew
Without taking a breath she continued To Billys amusement he watched As she told him what happened in detail Of the case that she just hadnt botched
Lee was anxious to get her out of there But Billys plan got in the way Using civilians the Agency did And apparently Lee had no say
Weve finally found you a partner Billy mocked Lee as he almost ran From the office with Amanda out into the street Do you have a good vegetable man?
