| More than 82 percent of APU undergraduate students receive financial aid. The school offers scholarships for academics, athletics, music, drama, speech and forensics, science, siblings, and Christian workers' dependents. Please note that all institutional scholarships and grants require that you apply by the June 1 application deadline, as well as submit the FAFSA or Waiver and Institutional Aid Application to the Office of Student Financial Services by June 1. Scholarships range from a few hundred dollars to full tuition, and are listed as follows: Trustees� Scholarships Trustees� full-tuition scholarships are awarded to five first-time freshmen. Click Here to read more about this scholarship. President�s Scholarship I and II President�s I Scholarships are $4,000 per year, while President's II Scholarships are $3,500 per year. These awards may continue for four years, if the recipient maintains the qualifying cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher. Deans� Scholarship I and II Deans� I Scholarships are $3,000 per year, while Deans� II Scholarships are available in yearly grants of $2,500. These awards may continue for four years, if the student maintains the qualifying cumulative GPA of 3.45. Director�s Scholarship Director�s Scholarships are given to new and returning students who have a cumulative grade-point average between 3.00. Award amounts are given in correlation to SAT or ACT scores. These awards may continue for four years, if the student maintains the qualifying cumulative GPA. ACT SAT Award Amount 21 950-1,000 $1,000 22 1,010-1,040 $1,500 23 1,050-1,080 $2,000 24 1,090+ $2,250 Athletic Scholarships Athletic Scholarships are available to students who qualify to participate in a university athletic program (football, basketball, track, cross country, tennis, cheer, soccer, softball, baseball, and volleyball). Applicants must be interviewed and recommended by one of the university varsity coaches. Grants may cover up to 100 percent of tuition. Music Scholarships Music scholarships are available to students for participation in a variety of music groups. There are also awards for exceptional musical talent. Amounts range from $200-$3,000 per year. Auditions are required. Drama/Forensics Scholarships Scholarships are available to students participating in APU�s drama or forensics programs. Grants of $200-$500 per year are awarded to qualified students. Applicants must audition with the director of the Drama Program, or be interviewed and recommended by the director of the Forensic Program. Sibling Scholarships Sibling scholarships are available to two or more dependent undergraduate siblings attending as full-time students in the same year. Each sibling will receive a $1,000 award, for up to four years. APU Cal Grant This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to students receiving a Cal Grant in the 2001-02 award year. Some students may not receive this grant due to CSAC regulations governing total grant aid that Cal Grant recipients can receive. Christian Workers' Discount for Missionaries', Pastors', and Christian Organization Workers' Dependents To recognize those working in areas of ministry, discounts are awarded to undergraduate dependents of full-time foreign missionaries up to $2,000 yearly, church pastors up to $1,000 yearly, and other church and parachurch workers up to $500 yearly. A Christian Workers' Discount application must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Services by June 1. Financial Need Grant Grants of up to $3,000 yearly ($1,500 per semester) are awarded on a year-to-year basis, based on need as determined by the FAFSA, and subject to the availability of funds. Early submission of a FAFSA is essential. Multi-Ethnic Leadership Scholarship Scholarships are available to incoming students who want to participate in a Multi-Ethnic Leadership (MEL) Program at APU. The MEL Program is designed to expand diversity within the student leadership team at APU. Renewable, stackable, scholarships of $4,000 are awarded to incoming freshmen. All applications are due by March 1. Alumni Teacher Education Discounts Discounts of 20 percent are given to APU undergraduate alumni enrolled in teacher education courses required for a teaching credential. Applications and a list of qualifying classes are available in the School of Education and Behavioral Studies. |
