Aggro: a Primer

The most valuable skill a warrior can possess is an understanding of how to quickly and reliably generate hate.

Combat ability: Provoke line provide an immediate surge of hate and additional hate over time.the following are listed at max ability where lvl dependant. (YMMV)

All have 100 range & refresh time of 30 seconds

(20) Provoke: [100 hate initial + 45 hate/tic for 1 minute] cost: 85 end.

(52) Bellow: [200 hate initial + 50 hate/tic for 1 minute] cost: 175 end.

(56) Berate: [300 hate initial + 60 hate/tic for 1 minute] cost: 200 end.

(63) Incite: [400 hate initial + 70 hate/tic for 1 minute] cost: 250 end.

(65)Bellow of the Mastruq: [440 hate initial + 77 hate/tic for 1 minute] 275 end.

Taunt: this ability when -sucsessfully- done moves you to toop of the hate list +1. So it is a wonderful but limited tool. It is best supplemented by other abilities to gain an additional 'buffer' of hate. Wgu has a very handy social named Max-Taunt (check it out here )

Melee Damage: once upon a time the more often a target was hit (lower the delay of the weapons) the more hate it generated, MA's scrambled to find weapons with the lowest delay possible with decent ratio's so they could hold aggro effectively. While this still holds true to a certain extent, many higher delay weapons now gain bonus to generating hate based upon weapons bonus damage. This makes many 2 handed weapons viable alternatives to dual wielding as a MA.

Blanket truism tho... The better your haste, the faster you swing and the more hate you generate. (by lowering the effective delay of weapon used)

Spell Effects AKA proc's: with decent dexterity weapon procs are a good method of gaining additional aggro. There is a heirarchy of hate generated by weapon procs. Some effects generate more hate than others... In my limited experience, the list from most to least effective are as follows: Raw hate proc, Stuns, Debuff / status affecting (poison/disease counters), direct damage
