Wooden Shoe Factory

In between Amsterdam and Volendam

We received a demonstration on how wooden shoes are made. Doing it the traditional way would allow a shoemaker to make one pair of shoes per day. The modern way, using a machine, lets a shoemaker turn out about 200 pairs a day. Even using the machine is labor intensive.

A rack of unfinished shoes

Dale enjoyed his visit, but did not want to get out of this pair of shoes.

The shoemaker that gave Dale his special gift.

The unfinished shoe that the shoemaker personalized for dale. He also dated and signed it.
