The next day took us to Florence. Once again, luck was not on our side. We were in Florence on a Italian holiday; all museums were closed. I really wanted to see Michelangelo's David, but it wasn't to be.

This is the fourth largest church in Europe. The building was finished in 1359, but the dome, the largest of its time, was not finished until 1463.
This church, the Santa Croce, started in 1294, contains the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, and many other famous Italians.
