Munich
The Glockenspiel in Munich is located in Marienplatz square. In the center rises the Mariensaule, a column erected by the Prince-Elector Maximillian in 1638. This clock with full size figures that animate at 11am, 12pm and 5pm is a favorite tourist attraction. When the mechanism is activated, brightly colored figures in enameled copper emerge and enact the Dance of the Coopers and a parade and jousting tournament to accompany a royal weddings.

These life size figures come alive three times a day and draw a sizeable crowd
The Hofbrauhaus, the famous beer hall founded in the 1589 as the Royal Court Brewery, is still an extremely popular destination for tourists looking to experience the local culture. The food is very good and they still serve full 1 liter beers. I wasn't that brave and had the "small" 1/2 liter version.
