Amsterdam in early evening

The houses in Amsterdam are very narrow to the front and built many stories high. The hooks that can be seen at the tops of the buildings are to hoist furniture to the upper floors. These hooks were on almost every building in the city.

This picture is dark, but I really like it. It is an artist sitting by one of the canals painting a city scene at sunset.

Bicycle is the main means of transportation in Amsterdam. On the right you can see a four story parking garage just for bicycles.
