Anti-cholinergic Drugs and PD
In the 1950s, drugs such as Artane (benhexol) were used to treat PD.  The advantages of these drugs over others before them were the relative lack of side effects compared to earlier treatments.  They relieved rigidity more than tremor however.  They were also known to cause a slight euphoria.  These drugs did not even compare, however, to the effect of l-dopa on the improvement of Parkinsonian symptoms.
