| Parents Meeting Nov 26, 2001 Participation-19 families were represented tonight out of 35 registered scouts. The meeting was opened with a prayer from Frank M. Marie J. conducted the meeting and a thank you was given to Marcia D. for doing last months parents meeting. ROUNDTABLE-report by Neil C. 1. Camp Chick has been sold. The council has 3-5 years use still until a new camp is built. 2. Summer Camp reservations for Chick are filling fast. GREENBAR-report by John G. 1. Tonight's meeting is a planning meeting for patrols as there is no green bar next month. 2. The Church is booked next Monday. Alternate plan (see dates). REPORT PAST EVENTS- 1. Fall Camporee- great success - all but 2 troops in the district attended. NOTE-If another council's event looks interesting, the troop can go if we sign up for it. 2. Blackstone- Weather good and good time had by all. Boys earned a lot of merit badges. 3. Yard Sale-very small participation by the group only 10 people showed up. Made $350 dollars. Benns Church was a great site. A thank-you to Benns was sent. Thank you Barb G. for Friday night drop off. 4. Court of Honor/Dinner-great turnout. Thank-you sent to American Legion who provided the chicken. OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS- 1. Class A uniform has been defined by the leaders at the last leaders meeting as BSA socks, green pants (not necessarily BSA), uniform shirt, belt, & neckwear (bolo or neckerchief). Ceremonial Class A includes merit badge sash. Class A's are to be worn the nights of parents meetings, boards of review, and other stated events. Ceremonial Class A's are worn for Courts of Honor and other stated events. 2. Dues-are due at Court of Honor. $8 quarterly. This money goes to pay for events for the boys and badges & patches. The troop needs to improve on paying. To this end a box will be made and envelopes will be provided. The boys are to place check or money in the envelope, put their name on the outside and put it in the box. Any money put in with no name will be considered a donation. Better records will be kept and the SCRIBE will be keeping the records. No dues = inability to go to events. 3. Recharter time- letters handed out tonight. $7 for recharter and $9 for Boys Life. This makes a total of $16. Checks (preferred) to be made out to BSA Troop 7. Deadline-Jan 7, 2002 to Marie J. who is coordinating. Marie says you can give or mail them to her. 4. Tent Inventory-26 functioning tents total for boys and leaders. 5. Marie J. reiterated that scouting is a family affair, which requires support of the parents at our fundraisers as well as their scouts. Scouts need to be guided to dress appropriately and take care of their financial obligations to the troop. This is the only way our troop can continue to function. SCHEDULE-this incorporates upcoming events, meetings, deadlines, etc. NOV. 27- DEADLINE for OA banquet reservations. $11-dinner & patch. This is a family banquet. Troop 7 needs 4 boys who are not OA to help serve bread & coffee. Volunteers were asked for at Troop meeting tonight. Servers will need to be at Smithfield Baptist church early in Class A's. Carson C. will be your coordinator. NOV 29- SCOUTS THIS THURSDAY- Meet at the Fire Dept. at 7:00. DEC 1 - OA Christmas Banquet-Being held at Smithfield Baptist Church. DEC 3 - NO MEETING as the church is being used. DEC 7 - FRIDAY NIGHT- Popcorn Show & Sell at Wal-Mart. (which Wal-Mart to be announced.) 2 tables for the troop will be set out, one at each entrance. Class A. this fund raiser is for the troop. Plan to work either the Popcorn or the Hot Chocolate Saturday, Dec. 8. DEC 8 - Christmas Parade/Hot Chocolate Sale-Neil C. will be the coordinator. Neil will get in touch with Leon for use of his yard. It was suggested that we consider a second station at the library/coordinating area. Also, we will be selling coffee this year as several people requested this last year. A sign up sheet will be out-minimum of 7 boys needed. Also, Troop 7 will be providing flag bearers for Pack 7 during the parade-3 volunteers were solicited at the Troop meeting. Class A uniform. DEC 10 - regular meeting 7:00 pm/Leaders meeting 6:30pm. SCOUTS-know Outdoor Code. DEC 12 - Roundtable meeting DEC 15 - Christmas caroling, along with Pack 7, at New Horizons. Meet at Trinity at 6:00pm. Class A uniform. We will caravan out. New Horizons is out along route 620. The troop takes a cold cut tray along with biscuits to serve the residents at New Horizons. The pack brings cookie trays. DEC 17 meeting/Christmas party at 6:30pm. Class B, casual. SCOUTS-Dragons-desserts; Ravens-drinks; Copperheads-chip & dip; Flaming Arrows-Flatware. Scouts bring an under $5 gag gift in a no larger than shoebox size box. DEC 18 - greenbar CANCELED DEC 24 - NO MEETING of any kind DEC 31 - NO MEETING JAN 5 - second session of Merit Badge School by Heritage District. Class A. JAN 7 - meeting. DEADLINE for RECHARTER money. JAN 9- Roundtable meeting JAN 12 & 13 - Rock Gym Lock-In in Virginia Beach. Leave around 7-8pm Sat night. Scot H. is calling and making reservations. The troop pays for transportation and pizza. This will be wall and tower climbing which is totally supervised. More details will be sent out via email later. JAN 14 - meeting. Also Board of Review for those needing it. Class A. JAN 15 - Greenbar Meeting JAN 18-20 - Fort Boykin's Camping. This is when we do Community Service Hours. Leave your good clothes home. JAN 21 - meeting/Leaders Meeting 6:30pm. Also Board of Review for those needing it. Class A. JAN 23 - Colonial Trails Recognition Dinner - Windsor Ruritan/Community Center. All leaders welcome. This is a great time to meet other leaders in your district. The Troop pays for you. Please see Marie to register. JAN 25 - Ski Trip to Massanutten- a day trip-$39 which includes bus, ski or snowboard rental, lift ticket. This is a FRIDAY when IOW Public Schools are out. This trip is being arranged by Fred W. of Troop 3. There are only 55 possible seats so sign up quickly. John H. is coordinating Troop 7 participants. This is a family event, not a Troop event.
