Highlights of Upcoming Events

1.      BIG CHANGE * November 24th: Popcorn Orders and Money Due to John Heide.  (This due to council changing date due to hurricane.)

2.      * Nov. 7 - 9: Blackstone Campout, Blackstone, VA.  This will promote merit badges and fellowship within the state.  Frank McA. Stated the weather was supposed to be very cold, so pack plenty of warm clothing.  Possible snow??

3.      * Summer Camp 2004 - week of July 4 - 10: I was able to access the camp site last night.  Here are the fees taken off the web site:
Topic 1---Base camp fee is $215 per scout;
     adults staying in base camp $120;
     High adventure camp fee for scouts is $230 with the exception of scuba certification.
      Scuba Certification $400.

Topic 2---We will have 4 payments to make the amount easier to handle;
the first payment of $55 will be due on Nov. 24th, which is the date of our next parents' meeting.
The other dates will be Feb 23, Mar 22, Apr 26 all parents meetings.

Topic 3---  The boys need to decide whether or not they will be doing the merit badge program or high adventure.  It would be nice if they could decide by the next parents meeting which camp they want to attend.  Placements in high adventure programs are on a first come first served basis.
            Please check the web site.  I have already sent an email to the site and brief description of what files hold what information.  Please also look at the requirements for age by date, and rank, and other qualifiying data.  Site again---www.bsa-brmc.org.

Topic 4---We discussed payment of leaders' fees and voted on this.  The troop will pay the fees for the leaders.  A vote was taken and past.  There was no decision on how we were going to pay for the leaders to go however.  Everyone is to put on their thinking caps--possible extra money added to payments, or specific fundraising.  This to be discussed at the next parents meeting.

Tom L. will oversee high adventure, Marcia D. will coordinate merit badges, Liz M. will coordinate health forms and money.
Old Business
1.  Bylaw issue: tabled pending leader discussion.
Scouts working on Camping merit badge need to keep a written log of their overnight campouts.
The troop still has tents for sale at the bargain price of $25.
New Business

1.      REMINDER: CLASS "A" UNIFORMS AT ALL MEETINGS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

2.  The scout office is now taking reservations for 2005 Jamboree.  $125 Deposit is needed.  There will be only about 120 scouts from our area able to go. There are age and rank requirements.  I checked last week and 40 were already signed up.

Thanks for coming tonight!

The Next Parents' Meeting will be on Monday, November 24th at 7:15 p.m.  Camp payment due.
