| Parent's Meeting Minutes 04/28/04 7:15 Call to Order/Welcome/ and a prayer was said by Frank Mc. Minutes were approved from March 24, 2003. Treasurer�s Report by Betty Jo H. Beginning Balance�$3,804.88 Money In�Summer camp fees & other misc. $1,477.52 Money Out�Rock Gym-$730; pizza for Rock Gym $70.54; gas for van $29.47; Eagle Scout Expenses $149.95; Summer Camp Deposit $210.00 for a total of--$1,189.96. Balance--$4092.44 Roundtable Report� Myrl T.�discussion about the Scout Show, OA Conclave, & New Leader Applications must be used and not the old ones. Attendees received training in Safe Swim & Safety Afloat. Green Bar Report� None Report of Past Trips/Events 1. Rock Gym Lock In was held March 9 at Peak Experiences near Richmond. This was a much nicer gym than the one in Virginia Beach. Climbing merit badge was earned by 11 scouts. The church van was taken and made for a nice trip. Those that came later got caught in a terrible thunderstorm but arrived safely. 2. OA Conclave this past weekend. There were 825 scouts from across the state. Weather was good, with no rain Saturday. Tom L. Showed off the patches the boys received. Upcoming Events� 1. Boy Scout Show May 2-4 at Nansemond Suffolk Academy�Troop 7 to have a Pioneering Display. The camping fee is $5, which will be turned in Friday along with the permission slip received tonight. Eat supper beforehand. Wear Class A with Class B shirt underneath. OA scouts bring sash. The troop departs at 6:00, be there ahead of time. Pickup on Sunday will be at 11:00 am at Little�s Grocery. (As scouts will be assigned a time to work their booth, wearing a watch might be helpful.) 2. Scout Show Cards/Money must be turned in by this Friday BEFORE the Scout Show. Please contact Robin L. 3. Court of Honor is May 12th. To show scout spirit, all scouts should attend. Scouts to wear full Class A uniform. Bring a refreshment to share. Troop dues of $8 is due. Martin D. is our new scribe and will tracking this. Our thanks to Justin T. Our previous scribe who did an outstanding job. 4. OA Meeting May 14th. Any scout who has an IOU for a patch, bring it. 5. May 17/18- OA Spring Ordeal 6. May 23rd Fundraiser-see below 7. BSA Summer Camp�July 6-12 at Camp Shenandoah�Tom L. Coordinator. a. Last camp payments were due tonight. I am happy to report most all fees are paid. b. Liz M. Handed out physicals on file for parents to update and return. c. Copy of insurance card due at parent�s meeting in May. d. Merit Badge decisions are due to Marcia D. by the end of the scout show. Old Business� 1. Two Man tents�Kevin B. Report. As the troop has lost 10-12 tents over the last year, it was decided that the troop would go to personally owned tents, but uniformity of type tent also. The scouts voted to purchase two man tents instead of one man type tents. The best deal appeared to be 9x7 dome tents from BJ�s for $45. Some further details are to be worked out, and then orders will be taken. Remember popcorn money can be used. When the socut receives his tent, it was suggested that his name be put on every piece somehow. 2. Personalization of the Troop 7 trailor�still being worked on. New Business -- �Hot Diggity Dog� Fundraiser-Friday May 23 ath Olden Days Kickoff. Troop 7 will be selling hotdogs, chips, and sodas to downtown visitors. We will be based at TUMC, and will sell on Main Street. Where the booth is going is still undecided as yet. �hot Diggity Dog� Committee now forming. Please attend a meeting, TOMMORROW, Tuesday, here at TUMC at 7:00 pm. The next parents meeting will be one week early due to Memorial Day Weekend and our �Hot Diggity Dog� fundraiser on Friday May 23. Parents Meeting will be on May 19th. |
