| BSA Troop 7 Parents Meeting Minutes March 24, 2003 At 7:25 the meeting was called to order. Frank Mc. opened with a prayer. Minutes from Feb 24, 2003 were approved. Treasurer's Report-Betty Jo H. Was not present but sent the following: Beginning Balance-$3,564.60 Income-Dues, Klondike, camp fees-$495.00 Outgoing-$17.92; $85; $100 Final Balance-$3856.68 Roundtable Report from Myrle T.-talk of Scout Show, Cub Day Camp, and a possible Food drive Greenbar Report from March 18, Next Greenbar April 22 Minutes from the February meeting were sent out via email Report on Past Trips/ Events 1. Newport New Park Campout-from Buddy K.-great time, had campfire Fri. Night, got an early start Saturday due to cannon noise. Hhiked to Endview where a tactile battle was viewed, visited the open air market, and viewed a scripted battle. Hiked back to camp. New & first year scouts did well & most earned Fireman chit. 2. Troop Elections-Patrol Realignments-Patrol Elections all happened last week. A list was sent out by email. Highlights of Upcoming Events 1. Rock Gym Lock-in March 29 Peak Experiences Rock Gym, Midlothian, Va. We have 23 scouts going and 5 leaders of which 11 are taking the merit badge. We will travel in 2 groups. Those taking the merit badge are to meet at TUMC wearing Class B uniform (Troop 7 T-shirt) at 4:00 pm and leave at 4:30pm. Those not taking the merit badge are to meet at TUMC at 6:00 pm and leave at 6:30pm. The Lock-in is at 8:30 pm. We were told we would be out of the building by 7:00 am the next day, so arival back at TUMC should be 9 am. The troop will buy pizzas around midnight. Have scouts bring an extra $5-10 if they wish to do some "COPE" like activities. Scouts may take sleeping bags and pillows, snacks that they will clean up. 2. Boy Scout Show May 2-4 at Nansemond Suffolk Academy Each scout has scout show cards he was given to sell at $5 each. Return the money/cards to Robin Land by April 21st. 3. BSA Summer Camp July 6-12 at Camp Shenandoah a. Tom L. Is the overall coordinator. The leaders going to camp have had a meeting and found to have several questions. Tom L. Spoke with the camp director on Friday and have these questions answered. We camp leaders will meet again next Tuesday to get an overall idea, and then provide packets for the scouts & parents soon after. b. We need to discuss a fund raiser for Gas money, leader's fees, money for 1-2 meals at camp. We have 5 leaders going to camp, 2 are free with the number of scouts we have going. Leaders are $40 apiece over 2, plus $80 for the leader going on COPE. It was voted that the troop pay the leaders fees for summer camp. c. Second Payment is due end of March, next Monday. Please pay Liz M. d. Physicals to Liz M. At the end of April, those who are using old health forms, are to review and resign their scouts health form. e. Merit Badges-Marcia D. f. As the troop is on target for payments, we should receive a $5 discoun/rebate. It was voted to use this $5 for leaders fees. g. Was unavaliable Old Business- New pages were handed out for the Troop 7 Bylaws (p. 1 & 6) Barbara G. to send email to Robin L. For posting on the Troop web site. New Business 1. Voted and past to appropriate up to $700 for personalizing the Troop 7 trailer. Design to be done by the boys, but approved by the Scoutmaster. 2. Next Leader's "discuss all" meeting is to be a potluck to discuss in particular fundraising. Barbara G. to look into when the church is avaliable. 3.
