| Leader's Meeting Minutes Feb 18, 2002 Those in attendance-Marsha, Frank, Myrle, Scott, Tom, Barb, Liz, Jeff, Brian, Chris Opening Comments: 1. Reminder-OA Elections-on March 11- Mentors, please speak with your boys to remind them to attend. This is a one shot deal. If we do not have 50% of the troop in attendance, there will be no OA elections for this year. 2. We'll also have troop elections at this meeting. New Business: 3. ReDividing the patrols------There was a lot of discussion on this. Things ended as---- A vote was taken that we would divide all the scouts into 4 patrols. The Dragons & Wolves would divide themselves up into 4 groups, and then with mentors, assist in dividing the Flaming Arrows, Copperheads, & Ravens equally among them, so that each group would have range in ages. The division's final say would be from the leadership. The plan is for the older guys to teach, and work on their leadership skills. With the patrols divided into age ranges, patrol competitions could occur on campouts and at meetings. It will be a hard transition for the scouts and leaders will need to be better prepared. We need to be aware initially to help the groups make sure scouts fulfill their leadership requirements in this new structure. 4. A brief topic at the end, due to the dismal attendance at Scout Sunday, is whether scout Sunday should be one of those required events. All other business was tabled. |
