The Marbache Sector was an area near the French town of Nancy. The 2nd Division was stationed here after its battles at Belleau Wood and Soissions. This area was relatively quiet, but the Marines still some fighting. Having seen the 2nd going to this front, the Germans began to expect another offensive there. On August 6th, the Marines saw a large German patrol coming towards them. The Marines opened fire on the patrol, and the German artillery began hitting the German soldiers instead of the Marines. AEF patrols would have a few more engagements with German patrols taking few prisoners. The Marbache sector was a relatively quiet area, mostly meant to allow the 2nd Division to get some rest after the past two battles that they were involved in. |
