Kerala - Southern India
Kerala is a lush and tropical part of India, different in topography, agriculture, climate, culture, and language from northern India. Consequently more beautiful, too.
Jews first came here in 72 ad, after Jerusalem's destruction, but the swastika is an Aryan-Hindu symbol. Irony only we seem to get!
Fishing is the main occupation here, both by boat and with these old Chinese drop nets.
Many of the villages in Kerala's backwaters are accessible only by boat.
While in the town of Aleppy, we rented a two-bedroom reed houseboat. This is our dining room. (Advice: don't eat the curried chicken!)
