Primrose Shelter
PRN 25441

This cave is also known as Pulpit Cave. Its entrance is located on the west bank of the gorge, on a ledge somewhere between Outlook Cave and Lion Cave. It is described as a shallow shelter (Hendy 2005). It was trenched by E. Mason for Wookey Hole Caves in 1959, when a small Late Pleistocene deposit with flints was revealed (Barrington and Stanton 1977). The one flint implement clearly marked Pulpit Cave seen at Wells Museum, is a kind of knife about 8cm long. If anything, it resembles some of the pieces in the Bridged Pot hoard.
