The B&T reading (posted on the internet for 2-27-02) makes a wonderful comparison between the associational form of nonnarrative film to a form of Japanese poetry known as the haiku.  Both respective art forms bring out a mood or emotion by creating an image for its audience.  (Link onto the “Haiku contest in Brazil”.  It gave a couple good examples of haikus and the images they cause you to create in your mind.  It also gave a good narration to the meaning behind each.  It’s quite interesting.)
