MISSION 2.4 - Dreamweaver - Fugue States -Briefing
Post by Magellan Lin on 9 Aug, 2005, 8:35pm

WARNING WARNING ROUGH PLOT ONLY. I REPEAT ROUGH PLOT ONLY - feel free to contribute ideas.

Dreamweaver – ‘Fugue States’

This is intended to fit in partly with the Fleet Mission which will be the B-plot. The A-plot will be a character piece on Saarok.

A-Plot – An old friend of Saaroks, V’Shal, comes aboard. However Saarok claims he doesn’t know her. In fact he denies ever having met her before. She comes with a warning that people are out to get him but will not go into specifics.

Saarok – does he really know V’Shal – does it relate to his memory loss?

Tomlinson – Will need to assign security and investigate V’Shals accusations.

B-Plot – A stranger found aboard the Angel is in sickbay.

Mercy – needs to find out what’s wrong with him and find a cure for the mad Angel crewmembers (See background to mission)

Myself, Tedak, Drew and Jatira can develop personal stories etc etc and will slot into the plot where needed, we’ll see how it develops to start with.

Start date for this mission is on hold at the mo. But should start on next week.

It was a rare thing. As rare to him as perhaps ice was to camel but there it was - Magellan rarely got time to himself. He sat in a large chair in his quarters and relished the nothingness around him.
Dinas lay contentedly at his feet. Curled in to a tight ball from which neither head nor tail could be distinguished the only sign of life was the faint movement of the chest and a low mewing noise on each exhalation.
Magellan peered into his now cold coffee and placed it on the table beside him and picked up the PaDD beside him. For once it wasn’t a crew report or diplomatic problem but an actual novel. It was recounting a story set during the riots that had ravaged Trill a few years ago that had resulted in so many symbionts being killed. Lenara had suggested he read it, she hinted it might help him understand how he and Lin inter-related. It frustrated him how Lenara wouldn’t tell him what was happening to him outright. He understood the restrictions of the Symbiosis Commission but they were friends surely she could tell him more. He knew he had more hosts, perhaps as many as 3 before Toya and yet he couldn’t remember any of their lives and there seemed to be no record at all of any of the others – the Commission denied him access to their records.
Becoming restless Magellan got up, carefully extricating himself from Dinas and put on his Starfleet jacket. He was back on duty in half an hour and wanted to get a bite to eat in Hirishars before then. He gathered up a pile of PaDDs dumped them into a case and left.

Assailant as usual was busting with life, the latest arrival of Tekaran refugees had just arrived and a group of Debrune facilatators were directing them towards a lecture hall where they would be educated on Debruni ways. Jak’dor had settled down now, his annoyance at having his files stolen had dissipated and he had allowed diplomatic ties to return, mostly thanks to the work of Jatira.
It had been 3 weeks since the drama of Senator Krotaks kidnapping of D’Beren and the assassinations of both a visiting Federation Ambassador and the Senator herself. Magellan was glad things had settled down but the incident had left scars, the tender alliance between the Romulans and the Federation in the terraforming of Qualinost had been stretched to near breaking. That was nothing to say of the relationship between the senior staff and their Ambassador, Tedak.
Dodging a family of Domolites Magellan turned down on to the Arcade, the vast shopping and entertainment district of the city in space. Representatives of a hundred races lived, worked and played here and he relished in the diversity. Going down a few steps and taking a right he entered Hirishars Fine Bolian Restaurant.
“The usual please Hirishar” He called to the Bolian at the hatch to the kitchen,
“Coming right up” he smiled broadly causing a wrinkle in his bifurcated face.

Taking his usual seat by the window Magellan pulled out a PaDD, it was review by Drew on the ‘Angel Incident’. The matter had begun 3 days ago when Drew out on a routine patrol picked up a distress call and investigated, discovering both an ancient artefact and a disabled Angel. The crew were all mad and were berthed in the Bases Hospital waiting for Mercy to cure them. Mercy if ever there were an apt name for a doctor there it was Magellan mused. Either way he had a problem, he needed to assign a ship to recover the Angel and find out what had happened. Something he needed to discuss with Paul at the next available moment.

At Airlock 16 the Bajoran Transport opened her airlock and mated with the station. Atmospheres cycled and equalised and with a hiss the doors opened. A number of Bajorans emerged followed by a Ferengi and then a pair of long legs. The legs led up to a thin and well toned, lithe body dressed uncharacteristically in a simple one piece tunic in lavender blue. The face was smooth and yet severe in strangely alluring way. The dark brown hair ran ruler straight across the forehead before cascading down her back in a trail of 3 pony tails. Wisps of it were tucked behind a pair of slender and elongate ears. Almond eyes hazelnut brown peered out as she shrugged off yet another lecherous advance by Brik his own oversized ears thick with grey hair.
“Try that again and I ll snap those lobes right off” she hissed under her breath,
“Ohh promises promises” the Ferengi grinned toothily,
“I mean it” she replied grasping the nearest one and twisting it hard,
“Arrgghhh owwwwwwwww” Brik screamed his knees buckling beneath him,
“It would be logical for you to now avoid me” she replied curtly and stepped away leaving Brik rubbing his ear,
“That’s some woman” he groaned in adoration.
The Vulcan woman passed through customs and retrieved her luggage, a simple cloth bag with twine straps. She slung it over her shoulder and walked to the nearest public information terminal.
“Computer where is the Federation Embassy?”
“Federation Embassy is located in the Ambassadorial and VIP Sectors on Decks 313 through sections A to G.”
Without turning off the terminal she turned on her heel and headed for a turbolift.

Saarok was going over the latest report on the relations between the Romulan Empire and the United Federation of Planets. Ever since the Romulan senator died in the "accident" 3 weeks ago the relations began to deteriorate as the Romulans are convinced that the federation murdered her and refuse to believe it being an accident. And to add, his memory was not getting any better either.

No matter how much he meditated it did not help him. Whatever cause his memory loss seemed to be permanent. At times that bothered him, especially when it came to people showing up and claiming they knew him but in reality it turned out he never actually met them. Therefore he came up with a new strategy, whenever someone came up and claimed to know him, he sent the person of and did not believe them.

Several minutes later he received a message on his intercom a Vulcan female, V’Shal was there to see him and has introduced herself as an old friend.

"Tell her that she may enter", he said

He put down the pads he was reading and rose up from his chair. Just at that moment the door slid open and a female. She had a thin and well toned, lithe body dressed uncharacteristically in a simple one piece tunic in lavender blue. The face was smooth and yet severe in strangely alluring way. The dark brown hair ran ruler straight across the forehead before cascading down her back in a trail of 3 pony tails. Wisps of it were tucked behind a pair of slender and elongate ears. Almond eyes hazelnut brown peered out as she scanned the office of the ambassador.

Saarok stepped up and introduced himself.

"Ambassador Saarok of Vulcan, the senior ambassador for the United Federation of Planets assigned to the Section 47 space", he paused then resumed, "You said to my aide that you are a friend, I must inform you that it does not sound logical as I do not remember ever seeing you.", he said in Vulcan

Post by Stuart Mercy on 16 Aug, 2005, 11:02am

Dr. Stuart Mercy now wished that he had extended his mini-vacation over at SB Conqueror for at least a week. Shortly after his return from there, four days ago to be exact, SB Assailant became involved in the investigation of a disabled Starfleet vessel, the USS Angel. Now Dr. Mercy's infirmary was inundated with stark raving mad patients from that vessel, and an as yet unidentified alien patient.

The past three days consisted of the constant monitoring of these patients, while Stuart was at the same time trying to figure out what the cause was for their madness. He needed to locate ADM Lin and make his brief report.

"Lily! Please locate Admiral Lin."

_/\_ Admiral Lin is at Hirishars Fine Bolian Restaurant, in the Habitat level. _/\_

"Thank you Lily." Stuart was glad to have Lily back after she had been locked out of most critical systems for a while.

The Habitat level was the next level down from the science level, where the Infirmary was located. Yet, physically, the distance between the Infirmary and the Arcade, where the restaurant was located, covered nearly one hundred and fifty decks. With the help of turbolifts and anti-grav personnel movers, Stuart covered this distance in a matter of ten minutes.

Stuart was glad to be able to catch the Admiral here at this Bolian restaurant. He relished being able to make his reports in a more social manner. Stuart preferred this method as this type of interaction was at a more personal level.

"Mind if I join you Admiral?" Stuart approached hoping he wasn't disturbing ADM Lin.

"No. By all means, have a seat." ADM Lin moved his PADD over to one side.

Stuart picked up the menu in hopes of finding a cuisine that might suit his pallet. "Any recommendations for something light and yet filling?"

"Well, you could try some Bolian tomato soup. It's a bit thicker than what you might be used to. I can't speak of its taste to you as you well know, our physiology is different in that aspect, but I do believe it is close to your Terran tomato soup."

"I'll take your word for it then." A waiter had appeared in the meantime, and Stuart ordered the soup. ADM Lin didn't waste any time, knowing that Dr. Mercy had tracked him down for official matters.

"How are our patients doing? Any improvements?"

"The only improvements that I can report are that they are stable, but many of their biological levels remain elevated. We have to keep them sedated to avoid the mad fits they have experienced aboard their ship." Stuart received his soup and started eating it.

"What about our alien guest?" ADM Lin inquired.

"He is a horse of a whole 'nother color." ADM Lin was a bit taken aback at this terminology. "I mean that he is a different case altogether. I haven't been able to wake him. He's in some type of a coma or, I'm actually theorizing here, he may be in some sort of hibernation or dormant state. His biology is that of a reptilian species. Many of which go into a dormant state under certain conditions."

The Admiral was thinking this over while Stuart proceeded to have a few more spoons full of his soup. The Admiral was right, this Bolian tomato soup was close to Terran soup, just much thicker. Stuart thought that its consistency was more like porridge or oatmeal, or something along those lines.

Before ADM Lin was able to finish his thoughts, Stuart continued to verbalize his. "I can't, as of yet, ascertain if he has anything to do with what happened to the crew of the Angel. If he has some type of micro organism that affects the others, but is natural to him. On the other hand, if he doesn't, he may hold the key for the crew's cure as he doesn't seem to be infected as they are."

Now ADM Lin was able to add something to that equation. "This mad plague may then be coming from somewhere or something else, other than him. I had thought of that as one of the options, but I guess I was hoping it would be as simple as our alien guest being the cause of all this."

The two had finished their meals and were ready to proceed with their daily duties. They both got up and walked out of the restaurant and chatted about Stuart's mini vacation on Conqueror until they reached the point were they parted their ways. "Well Doctor, thanks for your assessments. Keep me posted of any changes or improvements."

"You know I will Admiral."

Post by Paul Drew on 16 Aug, 2005, 12:20pm

The one thing Drew hated more than writing reports, was reading reports. Since arriving in his office an hour ago, he had to read one report on the status of the USS Galaxy, which was in for repairs, another report on the current status of the Federation/Romulan alliance, and now a fellow up report on the Angel. He also still had the next day’s repair schedule to approve and well as reviewing next week’s duty roster.

Naturally he had a pot of steaming hot English tea next to him, as well as an audio recording of a concert held on Earth a few months ago that a friend had sent him. So far neither were doing much to relax him. Maybe it was just that the reports weren’t interesting, but Drew couldn’t keep his mind focused on his work, he was too busy worrying about his eldest daughter – Tammy, who recently had become more reclusive towards the family. Suspecting it was something to do with the attack on her a few weeks ago, Drew had spoken with both Chief Tomlinson and Dr. Mercy about her, but so far no one had any real idea what was wrong with his daughter.

Operations to Admiral Drew,” said F’rras over the intercom.

“Go ahead Commander,” Drew replied, putting down his padd.

We have another ship requesting position to dock for repairs.

“Another one!” Drew exclaimed, he had never known so many ships to be arriving at the station in one go, and never so many requesting repairs.

Yes Sir, its the Silverstone, they report damage to there warp coil, as well as power problems on decks ten through twenty.

“Wonderful,” Drew answered, calling up the current repair schedules, “OK, push the Rutherford back, and slot the Silverstone in, I’ll speak to Captain Jennings.”

He will kill you,” F’rras replied.

“I know,” Drew answered, “I’ll buy him a few drinks, break it to him easy.”

Good luck Admiral, Operations out,

Picking the padd up with the Angel report, Drew started to read again, although now he was also thinking of the best way to tell Captain Jennings’s his ship was going to be in drydock for another week at least. F’rras was right; Jennings’s was going to kill him.

The Vulcan stood arrow straight her emotions masked in typical fashion,
“I see you still ‘enjoy’ your jokes. Life with the humans has corrupted you more than many would think”
“I m sorry” Saarok said, one eye-brow raised “Have we met before?”
V’Shal scowled at him and sighed in what could have passed for exasperation.,
“Only at our marriage ceremony” she answered coolly, “Age seems to have dulled your senses.”

***

Magellan parted from Dr Mercy and headed up to Ops. As usual the place was a buzz, several ships were due in and Drew was rapidly assigning and reassigning work crews.
“Any problems?” he asked,
“None” F’Rass replied curtly,
“Excellent” Magellan answered and entered his office.
=^= Welcome Admiral=^= Lily greeted as he took to his desk, =^= You have 16 messages. 2 from Starfleet Command, Office of Admiral Chaturo, 1 from the Romulan Embassy on Earth, 3 from Maintenance Support, 2 from Dr Hyan Sharex, 1 from Jak’Dor, 2 from Admiral Drew, 1 from Ambassador Kaskrene, 1 from Randicore, 1 from Station Security and 1 from the Trill Symbiosis Commission.=^=
“Thankyou Lily. Route the Command messages to my terminal and decode. Then start to display in order.”
Magellan sat and wearily went through the messages. The Starfleet ones related to fleet dispositions and new policies. The maintenance ones were logs and repair schedules. The Romulan message wasn’t particularly pleasant, an aide to the Emperor stirring up more discord and threatening to send an investigation team of their own. The rest drifted away before his eyes, terraforming, new ships, Tholian visitors and petty thefts. It all seemed to blur into one. He paused at the message from Randicore.
Randicore was a federation administered planet near S47 space. The message was from a cultural team leader mentioning an unusual rise in violent behaviour on the planet.
Finally he reached the last message the one he had been waiting on. He opened it and read the text message.
“Dear Admiral Magellan Lin,
The Symbiosis Commission has met and decided to release some information that you requested concerning the symbiont Lin. We can confirm Lin was in the vicinity of the attack on the Caves of Makala, we can also confirm that it is our firm belief that the Lin Symbiont had more hosts than yourself and Toya. The problem of lost records hasn’t been a problem since the Commission was attacked, most symbionts and hosts just recall the details of their past lives. We suggest you commune with Lin as no official record exists in our databases of who else Lin was joined to. We would be greatful and indeed insist you inform us of any developments. We will when time allows send a representative tomeet with you.
Dr Ren Makol – Trill Symbiosis Commission”
There it was then Magellan thought, the truth that Lin had had more hosts, his vaguer memories weren’t just an illusion. It did however leave him at a dead end, without records how could he learn more especially with Lin being so distant.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 16 Aug, 2005, 8:00pm

Tedak had enjoyed the three weeks of compulsary vacation, and had spend most of the time with his son on the base's holodecks, teaching him about Romulan and Vulcan culture. He had also spent a week on Qualinost, where D'Beren was subjected to a few Debrune rituals, which he himself was forbidden to attend.

Tedak had known it would be futile to protest, and in interest of peaceful relations with the Debrune, as well as the fact that he himself had stolen valuable data from the Debrune, he didn't even attempt to make a protest. Instead, he had handed his son to JakDor, who seemed to be expecting some sort of protest at the prohibition for him to attend.

Surprised, JakDor had stared after the Romulan Ambassador, who had turned on his heels after giving the boy a hug, and quietly walked away without saying a word on the matter. Hours later, when JakDor and the boy were waiting for him to return, Tedak came strolling from the extensive gardens. Without a word, he took back his son and strolled away to the transporter platforms.

Now, Tedak sat in his quarters, looking rather angrily at his computer terminal. Only seconds ago, he received a message from Senator M'Ress that there was going to be an enquiry in his handling of the situation, and the death of Senator Krotak. The senator did assure him that it was only an informal inquiry. Grinding his teeth, Tedak closed the message and scowled. M'Ress had been a close friend for years, who always warned him if trouble was coming up. And this enquiry was most certainly going to be trouble.

Sighing, he picked up the children's book that was lying next to him on the desk and strolled back to the living room, where D'Beren was sitting on the couch holding a pluche teddybear, sucking quietly on it's ear. "Now, I told you that you can't eat your teddy," Tedak chided, playfully pulling the ear out of the boy's mouth. He then tapped the book. "Want to hear another story, before you're going to take your bath and then to bed?"

The boy nodded vigourously and snatched the book away from his father. Blindly, he opened the book and it folded open on a storey about a young duckling that was bullied because he was different. Tedak smiled, and pulled the boy onto his lap, then started to read.

Saarok was taken back when V'Shal informed him that she was his wife but showed no signs of it. But he did not know why would a Vulcan attempt to trick him, perhaps she was not a Vulcan at all but a Romulan pretending to be a Vulcan and his wife in an attempt to try to trick him for some unknown reason.

"I see, well then you may leave now"; he said, as he strolled out of his office leaving V'Shal inside

His abrupt departure caught his guards of guard but it only took them a few seconds to realize that he was leaving and start following him. Saarok was attempting to find logic in what had just happened. He had to speak to someone. Speak to someone he felt as if someone screamed in his head. It was as if he was not the person to speak to others about his problems, or at least was not the person to do so in the past.

He was passing through the corridors not noticing people who were there, he did not even stop to greet the security chief Tomlinson when he passed by him. After a few minutes he arrived to the place he was going to. He chimed the door and a few moments later he heard Tedak saying enter.

"Ambassador Saarok", Tedak said looking surprised a bit

"I require your assistance he said."

"Thank you", Saarok said as he sat down on the couch

Tedak was surprised to find Saarok knocking on his door. He had just put his son to bed and was about to pick up a book for a few hours of relaxation before going to bed himself. "Please, have a seat," he said, motioned for the older man to take a seat. "Can I offer you something?"

At Saarok's nod, Tedak returned from his kitchen with a jar of fresh orange juice, and filled two cups, offering one to Saarok. "You said you needed to talk," he enquired, and sat to listen as Saarok told him what had transpired earlier.

"Now that is interesting," Tedak replied, holding up the jar in a silent query, then refilling both cups, "so this Vulcan woman claims to be your bondmate. Do you sense anything from a bond?" He gazed intently at his friend. "I assume here that, with a pon farr, you two needed to be bonded by ritual, the way T'Val and I have done two years ago?"

<Saarok>

"Do you think that I have met V'Shal before?" he queried next, "I mean, I am sure that you would have told me about her before ehm, the accident. If I would see a picture of her, I would be able to tell if I have met her before, or heard about her before. Either then I can verify her claim, or confirm your suspiscions."

Then, Tedak had an idea. "How do your firelizards react to her?" he queried, "usually they are the perfect people barometer. If they don't trust or like someone, they'll hiss and squawk. If they trust or like someone, they'll be friendly towards them, and calm."

"Here", he said, "This is V'Shal or so she says", Saarok said as he showed the image to Tedak

Tedak peered at the image. "That's a lovely looking lady," he commented, "and if indeed she is your bondmate, I can see why you chose her when your ehm..Time came. However, I regret to inform you that I do not recognize her from this picture."

After they finished with the picture, Saarok sipped a bit of his drink.

"As for my firelizards they did not appear to be disturbed with her presence, but then again there are some I am sure who can shield their true intentions from them, just like some can shield their thoughts from Betazoids or other telepathic races", he said

The Romulan nodded. "That much is true. But even a Vulcan emits some empathy, despite their attempt to hide it. Try to hide anything from my firelizards, and I'm sure they'll react to that as well. Now, my fair know you, but even then if you would try to hide something from me, they'd know you're hiding something, even without talking to your fair." He paused, watching his friend.

"And what do you think she might be referring to with the my...job statement?", he asked, "I did not find any evidence that i have ever done anything that you might call dangerous", he said

"Or these bounty hunters that are after me according to her, why would anyone put a bounty on me?", he asked, after a long pause from the both of them.

Tedak gazed at Saarok and frowned, appearing to be in deep thought. THen, he laughed, as much to his own surprise as Saaroks. "I don't know what she means with job statement, though I can take a fair guess." He slapped his friend on the shoulder as he smiled broadly. "However, your entire day to day business is dangerous my friend, you seem to relish danger. Ah...now don't you dare claiming that Vulcans do not relish in something, I know you better than that. You, my friend, are working for some secret service, or at least that much I've come to understand about you."

He suddenly stopped laughing. "If V'Shal is right, and I doubt she would lie since Vulcans are apt on claiming they can't lie, then I would take her warning seriously. Someone is out to kill you, and I wouldn't be surprised if you were a target at that bombing in the fish tank several weeks ago."

"However Vulcans can, let us say, alter the truth if required", Saarok corrected his friend, "A secret service? If that is so why didn't the people from that service come to me and told me that then? I assume they found out about my memory loss?", he asked

"Perhaps you have become a liability to them," Tedak suggested quietly, interrupting his friend.

Quote:
"However that bombing in the Fishtank, we did find out that it was Senator Krotak who staged it as a diversion in order to take away your son", he said

"So it seemed," Tedak agreed, "but then, not everything is always as it appears is it?. Who is to know, now that Krotak is no longer among the living?" He sat back on his couch, after tipping more juice in their glasses. he thought it would be best to just let Saarok ramble on and offer the odd suggestion between statements.

"Well, from what I have come to understand about you, and also from the few mind melds that we performed, you are a secret agent of sorts" Tedak started, not sure on how to explain this, but Saarok continued before he could even begin to explain.

"That number means that if you have become a liability to your service, they may hunt you down and kill you," Tedak said bluntly, then wondered how hé even knew that. "Now that is odd," he murmured, "how do I know this?" He looked up to his friend and noted that he had gone quite pale all of a sudden. "Ambassador, are you all right?" he questioned carefully, bending forwards slightly to regard his friend more closely. He didn't miss the fact that Saarok inched away a little from him.

<Saarok>

Just as Tedak was about to ask what was wrong, the doors opened and a tall Vulcan female stood in the doorway. Tedak looked up, anger crossing his face. "How dare you march in here without knocking," he said quietly, then motioned for a closed door, "and don't you dare wake my son up. If you must speak do so quietly. Who are you, and what are you doing here, marching into a private area unannounced and unasked."

<V'Shal>

"Lily, please contact security....." Tedak muttered under his breath.

"yes Teeeedak," the computer entity replied and went to alert Tomlinson.

V'Shal gave Tedak an icy stare.
"I am safeguarding my husband. I find it odd that he would consort with a...romulan" she spat the word romulan, "Especially this one. I wonder what your associates would think that the first one you run to for help is an enemy of the empire"

Quote:
"Lily, please contact security....." Tedak muttered under his breath.

"yes Teeeedak," the computer entity replied and went to alert Tomlinson.

"Enemy?" Tedak querried through clenched teeth, and shot a worried glance to his son's bedroom

"Associates? Which associates exactly would those be?", Saarok asked

"I think it imprudent to mention such things in such company" V'Shal replied

Tedak glared at the woman, but said nothing and instead glanced at Saarok, who was still looking quite pale.

"You can say anything you want infornt of him"; Saarok said, "he is a .... friend", he added, "i doubt he would, betray my trust"; he added looking at the Vulcan female still a bit shocked with the fact that they might consider him an enemy of the federation, him of all people. But he still possessed enough control to prevent the others know of his... degradation in the power of the mind

"You have grown weak indeed my husband. I fear there is much to do if we are to enable you to escape the assasins knife. And the first step is to step up your peronal security - do you even carry a weapon on you?"

Tedak gaped at the woman. A Vulcan, wearing a weapon...that was generally unheard of. "Please, tone down your volume," he said, "you will wake up my son."

"A weapon?", he asked, "I have no need for such an item, i do however have 2 security guards who follow me and provide protection"; he add still not knowing why he is telling all of this to her, perhaps Tedak was right that she is indeed his wife and that he does indeed feel their bond despite the damage done by the unknown energy discharge

"Ah yes. Those two. Had you not wondered how I manage to stand here in front of you unmolested?"
"Perhaps you were able to influence their minds," Tedak offered in Saarok's defense

"Or perhaps they were unprepared and poorly trained. These assaisins will not be like the Tal'shair lackeys, or V'Shar, even the Obsidian Order. These are people you knew Saarok, people you worked with. They know you better than yourself. - especially in your current state."

"People i worked with", he asked, "perhaps you might ... enlighten me by telling who are these people that i have worked with and who want me dead now, and why do i seem to remember a federation special order 66715 that does not exsist in the federation database? What does it all have to do with a Federation Ambassador i can find no logic in it all", he said
"Unless... there is something that i do not remember and it is not recorded in any official documents", he added
Tedak sighed, had Saarok already forgotten what he had told him earlier? "The code means that your collegues may execute you if you are found a liability," he repeated.

V'Shal sighed heavily herself,
"It seems your intelleigence hasnt dulled in the years" she said sarcastically,

She glanced at Tedak and then seemed to shrug

"There are people in the Federation who are completely loyal. They are willing to do whatever... whatever is necessary to keep the Federation safe. They are the unsung heroes of our nation. They act in the shadows of shadows, protecting and serving, and you Saarok, you led them for a period of several years. Were you not surprised at the gap in your service record arooun your promotion to Rear Admiral?"

This cause Tedak to glance sharply at his closest friend. "Admiral? Him?" he asked, "now that is new information." He sat back on the couch, repositioning himself but didn't notice that his robe fell back to reveal his honour blade, of which the metal sharply reflected the lights in his quarters. "He was Starfleet before he entered the Diplomatic Corps?"

"Perhaps this energy discharge did more damage then i anticipated", he said as he sat down, "I... I need, yes I need your help to remember"; he said to V'Shal, "Or, if what you are saying is the truth, there is no hope for me.", he finished

"What do you mean, no hope," Tedak cut in sharply.

"At last - Acceptance. And he means that without my help hes already as good as dead."

"I won't accept that," Tedak growled, "he'll be safe here on this station." He glared at the Vulcan woman who had marched into his quarters. "But if there is anything you can do to help him remember, be quick about it."

"You are not threat to me and this place is as open as a barn door. I know for a fact one assasin is aboard already. he maybe a fool but hes certainly killed enough in his history. I ve had enough with this heathen. When you have too Saarok, you can find me at the Plaza Hotel in the east Arcade."

Tedak pulled out his blade and held it at her throat. "No threat?" he asked innocently, a feral gleam in his eyes. From the corner of his eyes, he watched Saarok's reaction.
V'Shal barely twitched, her knees were firm. "Look down" she said coolly

Tedak looked down to see a stilleto blade pointing towards his lower back

"I can kill you in seconds, lower your blade." she said

"You want to make this a match?" Tedak asked, his blade never wavering from her throat, "I have never stopped training since leaving the Tal Shiar."

V'Shal grinned, they always focus on the knife once it was drawn to their attention. Carefully she probed her tooth, and released the cap. Then with a burst breathed the green gas into Tedaks face. Tedak coughed feeling the gas irritate his lungs. The hesitatation was all V'Shal needed. She leaned back from the blade and tapped her elbow. In a mist of light her emergency transporter beamed her to outside the door and she departed - over the unconscious bodies of Saaroks ttwo guards.

"Are you fine", Saarok asked Tedak, "The gas, he said as he smelt it, it is not lethal. Leave it a few moments attempt to breathe normaly. It's effects will wear of soon", he added still not knowing how he knew that

"Yes I'm fine," Tedak gasped, coughing to clear his lungs, "and was it lethal I doubt I'd be standing here alive to tell the tale. Are you all right?"

"I have been better in the past", he said, "ALl these events are not helping my deteriorating emotional control", he said

"Do you trust her?" Tedak suddenly asked.

"No I do not", he said, "However it is not like i have much choice in the matter"

After Tedak was done Saarok moved to the door which shifted open. In front he found his two guards, knocked out. Well so much for the diplomatic security he thought as he checked their pulse, they were alive. As he got up he saw Tomlinson and 2 security guards running down the corridor.

"Better late then never", Saarok said

"These people require medical aid, take them to Dr. Mercy"; Saarok said to Tomlinson who then nodded to his guards to take them to sickbay, "And if you would be so kind to escort me to Adm. Lin right away", he said to Tomlinson

After several complaints and disputes, Tomlinson eventually escorted Saarok to Admiral Lin. After they arrived to OPS Saarok took leave of Tomlinson and proceeded to join Admiral Lin, who was reading messages on one of the computer terminals in ops.

"Admiral", Saarok called out to him as he went over

"Ah, ambassador Saarok, how can I be of assistance"; he asked

"I would prefer to discuss the matter in private.", he said

"Well here we are ambassador, how can i be of assistance", Magellan asked

"I require a .... favor from you admiral", he started, "I require background information on a Vulcan female that goes by the name V'Shal he said. I believe that with your clearance level you might be able to obtain some info about her and would appreciate any help you can offer on the matter.", he said

"I can not reveal much info on why I require it but let us say she has arrived to the base and among other things she claims to be my wife", he said, "And please admiral I can not reveal anything else for now seeing as if I do it might place you in great danger.", he said

He watched as Saarok left, then headed out of his quarters in the opposite direction, Nut following him while Sev stayed behind to keep an eye on the, surprisingly, still sleeping child.

Magellan leaned back in his chair,
"Of course Ambassador, your position affords you a lot of assistance, and the fact that I consider you a friend means I can do it for you right away. I am a tad concerned you can't find the information through the diplomatic office."
Saarok nodded,
"The diplomatic office can be... slow and I require access to Starfleet Records. "
"I understand. I ll have a look in a moment and get back to you."
"Thankyou"
"One thing though Saarok," Magellan asked as Saarok reached the door,
"yes" he asked half turning,
"You can trust me you know. If you are in trouble I might be able to help. And of course I know that any threat to this base would be reported to me right away."

<TAG Saarok>

"Very well Saarok – I’ll get you that information within the hour."

***

Magellan spent a little time in his office and then decided it best to check in on the doctor. He went swiftly down to the hospital. There were too many casualties from the Angel to berth in the Starfleet Sickbay facility and so a specialised high security ward was set up in the civilian hospital. He paused at a large plate glass window that overlooked the day room. He watched sadly as former Captain LaTanto rocked back and worth on a setee. He had known Sandra, not well but she’d been a fine officer.
“Its quite disturbing isn’t it”
Magellan turned to see Dr Mercy approach,
“Ah doctor, what can you report?”

<TAG> Dr Mercy

“Thanks Doctor keep me updated.” Magellan left and returned to his office to run the checks. He began by linking to command directly and running a service history check. He quickly found some information and cross checked it with another higher level database. He downloaded it to a PADD and went down to Saaroks.
“Ambassador I have your information”
“Thankyou Admiral – What did you find?”
“Something interesting you need to watch your back – look at this personnel file.

“Indeed” Magellan agreed “That sort of resume says one thing to me – Special Ops, or Starfleet Intell. Oh and one other thing – She was in the V’Shar on Vulcan before joining up.”

Post by Stuart Mercy on 21 Aug, 2005, 11:33pm

Dr. Stuart Mercy and his medical staff were working feverishly on trying to figure out what was affecting the crew of the Angel, and how they were going to be able to cure them. Several blood tests came back inconclusive, not helping the cause.

Stuart was sitting in his office, going over these test results, comparing them with the various individuals tested. For a moment he thought he might have spotted something, when Ambassador Tedak knockec on his door.

"Doctor Mercy," Tedak said, between coughs as he walked into sickbay, "I need some assistance. I have developed a cough and my lungs feel as if they are aflame....can you help me?"

"Ill be able to once I have taken a scan. Please take a seat on biobed three, over there." Stuart indicated the direction AMB Tedak was to take. While following him over, Stuart grabbed on of the medical tricorders that were available.

AMB Tedak took a seat and Stuart began his scan of Tedak's chest cavity area. The tricorder indicated a foreign substance, residuals of a gas, in his lungs. "How did you say you contracted this cough?"

<Tedak>

"I see." Although he really didn't. Stuart had noticed since serving on this starbase, many of its dignitaries would appear with symptoms and maladies that would not coincide with their stories of how they were contracted. There was the doctor patient confidentialty concerns, but if Stuart felt that the individual or the starbase was at risk in any way, he would have to report it to the Admiral. Thia was not the case here.

"Well, Ambassador Tedak, this will be as simple as giving your lungs a good dose of pure oxygen." Stuart turned his attention to Nurse Jill Tsomba, who was attending to a sick crewmember, assuring their biolevels were in place. "Jill, could you get me an oxygen infuser with a fresh tank attached? Thank you!" Jill did as requested and returned promptly.

"Ambassador, when I tell you to exhale, I want you to exhale as completely as you can. As soon as you have done that, I will place this infuser over your mouth and force approximately one liter of pure oxygen into your lungs. That should be enough to dissipate the rest of this foreign substance that you have in your lungs."

The Ambassador did as instructed, and the rest of the procedure went as planned. "There we go. How do your lungs feel now?"

<Tedak>

"Great. Then you can be on your merry way. Oh, and Ambassador, I am aware that you and your child have been down to the planet. I will need to see the both of you within the next 48 hours. Thank!"

<Tedak>

The Ambassador departed, promising to return with his child by tomorrow. Stuart went back to his office, remembering that he was just looking at something that had caught his interest about the Angel crew. After he browsed over the information for another two minutes, Lily chimed in.

_/\_ Dr. Mercy, Admiral Lin is in the civilian hospital section, overlooking the Angel crew. _/\_

"Ah yes, Lily. Thank you!" Remembering that he had instructed Lily to notify him whenever one of the base Admirals was in any of the hospital areas, Stuart rose to meet him with the newly developed information that he had.

Walking over to the civilian side, Stuart could see ADM Lin standing just outside of the secured quarentine zone looking through the plate glass. “It's quite disturbing, isn’t it?” Magellan turned to see Dr Mercy approach, “Ah doctor, what can you report?”

"I have just come across some information that leads me to theorize that we are dealing with something similar to Altarian Encephalitis." The Ambassador looked on and awaited further explanation. Stuart continued, "It is a retro-virus that incorporates its DNA directly into the cells of its host, lying dormant up to many years before becoming active and subjecting the host to a coma and delirium for days. This inactivity erases through synapse degradation all memory back to the point of infection. Except, in the case of the Angel crew, it wasn't lying dormant in the host. Rather, it was injected somehow. I recall a report of a green beam being used from this pyramid artifact?"

"There was mention of something like that. The reports were pretty sketchy and the artifact was dormant when Drew arrived." Magellan replied

"If that could be investigated and the scans brought back here for further analysis, it would be of great help. It would possibly further our search for a cure. In the meantime I will be working with the current drugs that we have, and hopefully come up with a derivitive that may cure this crew."

"Excellent" Magellen replied, "I hope that something works. I ll be sending out tow ships and an investigation team shortly. Keep me updated, Sandra was a fine captain."

"Before you leave, Admiral, how are you coping with your symbiont and your knowledge of multiple hosts?"

Re: MISSION 2.4 - Dreamweaver - Fugue States -Brie
Post by Paul Drew on 22 Aug, 2005, 11:12am

Finishing most of his paperwork, Drew logged out of his computer terminal and exited his office. Thankfully it was only a brief walk, and a quick trip in the turbolift to get to Ops, as usual for this time of day the command centre of Starbase Assailant was staffed with the alpha shift, composing of Sandra Nelson, Drew’s own wife, Joanna, F’rras, and various others. What was unusual was the absence of Magellan.

“Anything interesting?” Drew asked Joanna as he walked past her towards his own console.

“Not really, just more ship’s arriving; we are going to start running out of space.”

“And that’s saying something,” Drew chuckled as he logged into his station, as usual the console reconfigured itself to Drew’s preferences, including a tactical scan of the area around SBA. He noticed that yet another ship was entering the area.

“Admiral Drew, we have a Vulcan science ship approaching,” F’rras reported, just as Drew was about to ask about the approaching dot on his console.

“Have they hailed us yet?” Drew asked, turning to look at the traffic control officer.

“No sir, they are however dropping to impulse speed.”

“Hail them,” Drew ordered, walking towards the centre of Ops so he could face the forward viewscreen. No ship was allowed to get too close to the Starbase without first giving there identity and intention, something this ship had made no attempt to do.

“Channel open,” Sandra reported.

“This is Rear Admiral Paul Drew of Starbase Assailant to Vulcan vessel, please slow your approach and identify yourself.”

An aged Vulcan male appeared on screen, wearing a dark brown jumpsuit bearing a golden triangle above the right breast. Along the shoulder were a series of silver stripes, if Drew didn’t know better he would say it was a uniform.

“I am Captain Sopek of the Vulcan Science Vessel T’Pan, I request permission to dock my ship at your station.”

Drew indicated to Sandra to cut the channel briefly, as he turned to F’rras.

“Have we got any record of a flight plan for them?” Drew asked.

“I can’t even find a record of the ship,” F’rras answered, let alone a flight plan.”

Now that was interesting, no record of the ship, no flight plans, uniforms Drew had never seen before. Something was clearly not right here. Drew told Sandra to reopen the channel, and then addressed Sopek.

“Captain Sopek, perhaps you could tell me more about your ship?” Drew asked, keeping his tone neutral.

“I fail to see the significance in that,” Sopek answered.

“If you want to dock at this Starbase, its very significant Captain,” Drew replied, “you see we have no record of your ship anyway in our databanks.”

“I am not surprised Admiral,” Sopek answered, “this is my own private vessel, it would not be listed in the Starfleet databanks.”

“You said you were a Vulcan Science vessel,” Drew pointed out.

“And indeed we are Admiral, I am a Vulcan, this is a science ship, therefore it is a Vulcan Science vessel.”

Drew hated arguing with Vulcan’s, it was easier to argue with a federation computer system, at least you could switch those off. Taking a deep breath, Drew resumed his questioning of the Vulcan Captain.

“And what is your purpose in this sector Captain?” Drew asked.

“I fail to see how that is any of your business Admiral, however logic tells me that you will continue to badger me until I give an answer you find reasonable, so human of you.”

“I am so glad we understand each other,” Drew replied, “now your purpose in this sector Captain.”

“We are on a simple private science voyage Admiral, I wish to see a bit of the universe in my old age, surely you can appreciate that?”

“Excuse me Captain, while I check through our docking schedules,” Drew said, then had the channel cut.

“F’rras, is that ship any threat to the station?”

“According to my initial scans no, they have very limited tactical systems, the majority of the ship is science labs and equipment.”

“The entire crew are Vulcan as well,” Sandra reported, “definitely no Romulans or other offshoot races aboard.”

“OK, put me back on,” Drew ordered, the image on the viewscreen again showed the aged Vulcan Captain.

“Captain Sopek, your granted permission to dock at docking bay three, your crew may use the Starbase’s recreational faculties, however no one from your ship is to venture into any Starfleet areas.”

“Thank you Admiral,” Sopek answered, his voice emotionless as when Drew first heard it, “we agree to your terms.”
“Glad to hear it,” Drew replied, “Starbase Assailant out.”

When the channel was again ended, Drew turned round to face Sandra Nelson.

“Inform security to keep an extra close eye on this one Commander,” he ordered, “something about them is bugging me.”

"I was trying to replace the gas tube that leads to my kitchen," Tedak lied, unwilling to jeopardize his Vulcan friend even more by informing the CMO of the attack on both of them. "But something went wrong and I forgot to close down the gas supply, thereby inhaling a fair amount of the gas."

Tedak hadn't realized that beaming down to the surface required a medical check-up afterwards. Nonetheless it wouldn't do to alienate the doctor, even though it seemed as if he already had quite enough to do. "I will come by tomorrow. Oh and doctor?" he said, just before leaving sickbay, "I have medical training, if you need another pair of hands to help out, let me know would you?"

He was walking down the corridor towards the lift that was going to take him to the lower levels. He had no security guards with him, but from what he has seen so far even if he did they'd be of no use of him so it was illogical for him to risk their life for nothing. He had to regain his memory, he had, he needed to establish a mind meld with a Vulcan, one who can repair his mind. But he could not remember who could assist him. Only person he knew of was V'Shal, but then he did not trust her anymore than a pre-federation Vulcan would trust and Andorian. He had been reading the history records in an attempt to recover parts of his mind, but it was all nothing. Only way to recover the full extent of his memory was if he had stored an echo of his mind somewhere prior to the accident. And he did not remember if he did or did not do it.

Saarok declined,
"I feel as if I m being manipulated here"
"Thats ironic" V'Shal replied. She paused and then loooked directly at him. "Okay no games. You were the head of Section 31. I was one of your agents we became close on an undercover mission in the Orion Syndicate - it led to bonding. Then you retired, became a diplomat - most didnt like that you d left and the new director was uneasy. I suspect he wiped your memory. It was a convient way to ensure you never betray us. Now... well I m not so sure. Perhaps he's worried you ll recover it or perhaps all your enemies in teh Tal Shiar, Obsidian Order and so on have finally decided to get revenge - either way the threat is real"

"I see", Saarok said, "And you are sure that this memory wipe was not done by one of my enemies and the new director only used it to his advantage? Or should I say rather then assist me in recovering it decided to seize the chance and take over in the full extent without being disturbed by my influence as I was as good as dead?", he asked

"Anything is possible, The Director is one for tieing up loose ends, but he is also soft. I believe its one of your enemies."

"Interesting, is there anyway I could recover my lost memory? Did I leave an imprint an echo of it somewhere just in case something like this occurred? It would seem logical from your description of the person I use to be that I would have taken precautions in case something like this was to occur.", he asked

"Now theres a good idea. You always told me you had a secret information dump. But you never told me where it was. Perhaps we could locate it."

"Well if i am to get out of this, the only logical way for me to do so is to recover my memory, if i do so they would most likely loose their advantage of an unsuspecting target. Perhaps i might even know who is after me if i could remember.", he said

"Then I suggest we try and locate your safe house. I doubt its on Assailant but perhaps you left clues somewhere - personal files - documents." V'Shal stopped a moment and then looked coyly up, "Its... pleasing to work with you again."

"I wish I could say the same thing however I do not remember how it was last time. This is not going to be an easy assignment. As I do not remember what I was like I do not know where I could have hidden the clues. We require a ... starting point.", he said, "And I think I might know who could help me", he resumed, "I ... need to check something, and if you intend to come along attempt not to be so... violent like in your last encounter with ambassador Tedak", he said as the two of them left the hotel and went to see no one else but ambassador Tedak again

Saarok knew this was not the most logical thing to do and that they could have another clash, but if anyone could help him with finding a clue or a starting point, it was Tedak.

***Stuart/Tedak And The Search For The Cure.***

"Now that you mention it, your help would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have some knowledge in DNA resequencing. This will help with us trying to come up with finding a cure by possibly altering some of our known antiviruses. So whenever you find some free time, feel free to come by."

Tedak accepted the offer and would let Dr. Mercy know when he would be available.

***Magellan/Stuart And The Multiple Hosts.***

"Before you leave, Admiral, how are you coping with your symbiont and your knowledge of multiple hosts?"

Magellan paused, "Its hard to explain. Its all still so unreal. I ve had some information though. The Symbiosis Commission have acknowedged that Lin did have other hosts. Its just they can't tell me who. All their records were lost in riots. Normally a host/symbiont knows instantly their entire past but with me - well its never been so simple. I find it very disconcerting. I get flashes of memory, but nothing concrete. Although there is something - Saarok met an alternate version of me, he knew all his hosts. He may I guess know more. Do you have anymore ideas on how to help?"

"I have to admit, I have very limited knowledge about Trill society and their physiology. Not to mention the phsycological aspect of it. Maybe it would help if I had a talk with Ambassador Saarok about your alternate self. He might have some insights that he doesn't realize without direct questions. It might help if Dr. Kahn was available for this also."

Admiral Lin agreed. He promised that he would inform Dr. Kahn, and Stuart could then make arrangements for her to meet with him and AMB Saarok.

Tedak had just barely stepped back in to his own quarters and was on his way to his sleeping quarters when suddenly the chime went off. "Figures," he muttered as he pulled his robe back on. It wouldn't do to greet a guest, no matter what the hour of the day, while half dressed.

"Come," he called, then frowned as he saw Saarok and V'Shal enter again. "You haven't come to blow gas in my face again have you?" Tedak enquired, raising an eyebrow at Saarok.

"Ambassador, what can I do for you?" he asked, turning to the Vulcan diplomat, "I do hope you realize what time it is?" He stiffled a yawn, and struggled to keep his robe into place. "You will excuse my appearance, I was just about to retire for the night."

"I see, go on", Tedak said

"Now seeing i do not remember where that place is we believe I left clues for myself somewhere around this base which would lead me to it if something like this occurs.", he resumed

"However this memory loss might have been more than what I have expected it and therefore I do not know myself well enough to know where I hid the first clue or a start point if you wish.", he resumed, "And there is no one else on this base who knew me and still knows me well enough to be able to help me to uncover the first clue or a possible place where I could have hidden it", he finished

Tedak frowned, while beckoning Nut to keep an eye on the Vulcan woman. "And you believe that I may know where you have stored ah...something of yourself?" he asked, starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable.

He didn't even try to stiffle the next yawn as he leaned back on his couch, beckoning his two guests to sit down. "I don't know Saarok," he continued, "you were never very talkative before you were attacked, and you certainly didn't disclose anything about your personal life. It's that you mindmelded with me once to save my life or I wouldn't even have know you were married and had a son!"

This seemed to puzzle his friend even more. "Doctor Salek," Tedak continued, receiving a nod from V'Shal, "would he not be the logical choice to ask? I've done some checking and he seems to have an equally shady past. Perhaps he can assist us?"

V'Shal regarded Tedak a moment,

Saarok seemed to squirm a little,
"Then you are nt his mother."
"No" V'Shal replied, "Not that its any of your business. But Saarok and I bonded as a matter of Pon Farr rather than family betrothal and our union bore no fruit."
Her voice seemed oddly sad, she appeared moved by what she said."
"So where does this leaves us?"
"Perhaps Salek has a copy of his memory?"

"It is illogical to ask me that, seeing I do not remember what I did with it. But going after the logic of my previous actions i doubt I would have risked with such an obvious choice like leave it with my son.", Saarok replied

"Well that puts us back at square one" Tedak commented,
"We need to think where Saarok may have felt secure enough to leave such a valuable item."
"Well on Romulus our home is our castle. The family is all important."
Saarok nodded,
"Home always feels like a sanctuary. It is logical I would have a safe place at home in which to retreat."
"Then it would be logical to serach there first." V'Shal noted,
"Then it looks as if we're going to Vulcan."
"Indeed" Saarok replied warily,
"We must book passage immediatly" V'Shal responded, "I think I say a Vulcan Ship arriving, perhaps we can book passage or find out when the next transport is."

Brik sat on his bed hunched over tray of all manner of items.
He pored carefully over each component using the eye piece attached to his eye by way of a flexible cord and a head band.
He held a small screw driver and methodically replaced each part in meticoulous detail. Each part lovingly and tenderly placed in the best location and fixed well.
He sniffed and reached for some more hyperian beetle snuff he took a deep snort and giggled as it tantalised his nasal passages. Sometimes it was good to be alive.
Replacing the last cover he leaned back, stretching his aching back as he did so to regard his handy work.
"Excellent" he giggled in satisfaction.
He got up, unfolding his short legs and scampering across to a bag. He rummaged through removing tooth sharpner, book, massage oil and can of tube grubs before finding the small bronze PaDD and extracting it.
he returned to the bed and activated the PaDD. He pulled out a wire and linked the devices. then carefully he downloaded the software, and the rest of the programming. finally he clicked a button, the image of a Vulcan - of perhaps 90, a little over 6 feet and dressed in a simple grey robe. Finished he snapped off the PaDD and picked up the device, opening a ventilation vent he set down the hunter killer drone and set it on its way.
He giggled in anticipation of the prospective latinum - sometimes it was a joy being an exterminator.

Saarok took a moment to think. Vulcan, he did not remember ever being there, but that suggestion is as good as any other could be considering he isn't likely to remember where he left a copy of his memory nor how recent it is.

"Indeed, it would appear the only logical choice, we shall proceed to Vulcan", he said, "Perhaps, Ambassador Tedak can arrange us transport, it would be less likely for those who want me dead to find me on a ships whose crew is not Vulcan"; he suggested

"We can take my shuttle," Tedak suggested, "It has a cloaking device and it bears a diplomatic registry number that is assigned to me. Any diplomatic envoy will always gain presedence in docking." He flinched as Saarok was only just barely missed by a read beam that blast into the wall of his quarters.

"Perfect," Tedak scowled, "V'Shal, take your bondmate to my shuttle craft." He gave a quick description of what his shuttlecraft look liked. When another blast nearly missed him, he scowled again. "No wait. Lily, beam Ambassador Saarok and Lady V'Shal directly to my shuttle, and erase the transporter logs. It's an emergency, I promise I'll explain everything later."

"Yes Teeedak," Lily responded, and the two Vulcans dissolved in a blue shimmer.

While the Vulcans were beamed away, Tedak dashed into the child's bedroom. "Lily. Drew's quarters, quick!" A few seconds later, he stood, still semi dressed, in front of the Drew quarters. A girl opened the door, looking at him through sleepy eyes.

"Tammy, please look after D'Beren. I've an emergency situation to deal with, it involves Ambassador Saarok. I've no time to explain, but Lily witnessed everything. Ask your father to talk to Lily. Meanwhile if you need anything have your father get it from my quarters using his personal override. Got it?"

<Tammy Drew>

Tedak nodded. "Thank you. Lily, my shuttle, quick, then open the bay doors for emergency departure." A few seconds later, he materialized in his shuttlecraft. "Setting course for Vulcan, cloak engaged, maximum warp."

Tammy looked up in shock at the man before her, she recognised him as that Romulan Ambassador she had had to meet at those boring ‘parties’ her father had made her attend. Simon had told her the Romulan had a bit of a shady past with a habit of getting himself into trouble, and she knew her father had arrested him just a few weeks ago. Now the Ambassador appeared un-nerved, apparently having beamed here! And he was asking Tammy to look after his child! Before Tammy could even really respond, the Romulan had already forced the child into her arms, and was busy giving instructions. Tammy just had chance to say “ok” before the Romulan gave some orders to the computer, and disappeared into another beam of light.

“Tammy Drew to Admiral Drew,” she said nervously walking back into the quarters with the infant, “Dad, I have a problem…”

On Ops…

Joanna Drew barely had chance to register what was going on, one minute her husband was talking with a Vulcan Captain on the viewscreen, the next thing red alert alarms were sounding, and everyone was busy shouting out reports to her husband, who was busy shouting back at everyone else.

She heard Sandra call out that there had been an explosion, then unauthorised transports, and now an unauthorised shuttle launch. F’rras was yelling about a ship warping out of the system, apparently just avoiding crashing into two Paklad transports. Now Admiral Lin’s voice was over the comm system, demanding to know what was happening to his station. Then she heard a voice she really didn’t expect to hear; Tammy’s

“Tammy, your father is busy right now,” Joanna said, jumping onto the channel before her husband could. As Science Officer, there was really little Joanna could do in the current situation on Ops, but she could make sure her husband wasn’t distracted from his duties.

“Mum, something weird just happened,” Tammy said, her voice sounding very worried.

“What is it?” Joanna asked, panic in her voice as she feared the worst, had the explosion harmed any of her children?

“That Romulan Ambassador was just at our quarters, he beamed here, and then beamed out again, but mum, he left his kid here! And he looked like really stressed.”

“Tedak has left you his son?” Joanna asked, unable to believe it, Tedak was well known to be very protective of his child; it was most unlike him to leave him so quickly.

“Keep up Mum,” Tammy answered, “I already said he had done didn’t I?”

“Am I hearing things correctly?” Paul Drew asked, stepping down to the science station, “Tedak beamed in and out?”

“Apparently,” Joanna answered.

“Lily, location of Ambassador Tedak,” Drew said, tapping his comm badge.

“Ambassador Teedak is not aboard,” Lily answered.

“Dam it not again!” Drew hit the console in front of him with annoyance, then asked Lily the other question, “Am I right in thinking Ambassador Saarok is also not aboard?”

“That is correct,” Lily again answered.

“Bloody Ambassadors, can never do anything by the book, always get themselves in trouble, and then get themselves in even more trouble trying to get out of it!”

“Calm down dear,” Joanna said, as everyone in Ops was now staring at Drew, who had gone red in the face from his shouting.

“Those two are going to be the death of me, I tell you,” Drew cursed, as he opened a channel to Magellan to tell him what those damned Ambassadors had done this time.

Magellan listened to Drews report,
"I ll be right up" he said and headed for the nearest turbolift.
Within minutes he was beside Paul in Ops.
"Up to their tricks again. I should have suspected something like this."
Paul raised an eyebrow.
"Yes" Magellan contiuned "Saarok came to me earlier, he needed help verifying some information on a woman named V'Shal. What I found seemed conclusive - she works in intelligence, I m hoping its Starfleet but as a Vulcan it could well have been the Tal Shiar, especially with whats happened recently.
"So what do we do. Hail them, chase them?"
"Neither" Magellan replied bluntly, "If they wanted our help they would have asked, and I dont have the resources to go running after them everytime they go off to have an adventure."
"I m still not happy with their disregard for protocols" Paul said.
"I agree" Magellan nodded, "but they have someone on their side."
Paul looked skyward,
"Yes Lily." Magellan confirmed, "We need to make sure Lily knows that she is a starfleet programme and that in that regard she must obey us above anyone else. I cannot allow a Romulan Ambassador unrestricted access to a Starfleet Computer network and all the database and resources that entails."
"That could prove difficult" Paul noted, "Her and Tedak formed a bond"
"I know, but Lily formed a bond with our computer system. She must understand where we are coming from."
"Possibly"
"Well the alternatives are pretty grim. If she won't capitulate then we'll have to download her to a separate system. One where she can remain 'alive' whilst we install a new operating system."
Paul whistled,
"A whole new system. Commands going to love that. And it ll shut us down for at least 6 months."
"I know and thats why plan A is going to work." Magellan replied with a smile.
"I dont envy the person who is going to have to convince her."
Magellan grinned even more broadly,
"Self envy is never healthy"
"Me!" Paul rolled his eyes, "Well you stand a better chance than me. I nearly had her killed."
"Fair point."
"Good. Oh and one of you may want to go help your daughter, I ve heard D'beren can be quite a handful"

"I will use that time to meditate"; he said as he rose up from his seat, "Try not to .... kill each other"; he said to V'Shal and Tedak as he went out of the cockpit

He retreated to one of the cabins that Tedak's shuttle was equipped with for long journeys. It even had a replicator which he used to replicate a few candles. After he lit them up he dimmed the lights and deactivated the bell on his door he did not want anyone interrupting him. He had to try to remember where he could have had a safe house on Vulcan.

Although it was most likely a futile attempt he had to try. When all the preparations were done he closed his eyes and joined his hands in front of him. He first attempted to get his emotions under control and burry them deep inside him. He had to create a void in his mind if he was to attempt to retrieve lost memories....

Nurse Jill Tsomba brought in the final test results of further tests that were conducted from the alien reptile that was here, in the Starfleet section of the hospital. Once more they were inconclusive.

Stuart threw the PADD with the report on it across his desk, where it resulted in falling off the edge. They weren't making any headway in determining if the alien had anything to do with the virus. Stuart could only theorize that perhaps the virus didn't come from this particular patient, but it wasn't conclusive.

Stuart got up and left his office to visit his patient. Stuart had to deactivate a security forcefield as the alien was in the medical holding area for high risk patients. He didn't realize that he forgot to reactivate it as he approached the patient.

He was staring at the reptilian creature, as if he expected the answer to leap out at him. What he didn't expect, however, was for the reptilian to open his eyes. Stuart stood back as the reptile looked around before meeting eyes with him.

Stuart tapped his comm badge. "Admiral Lin, Dr. Mercy here. You may..." Stuart couldn't finish his sentence as the alien lept up from the biobed. His body then appeared to shimmer away into thin air, but not completely. Stuart could barely make out the outline of his body as the alien bumped passed him and quickly made his way out of this holding area.

Dr. Stuart Mercy tried to keep up with it, but it moved so fast that Stuart lost him visually as he disappeared from the infirmary, exiting out of the main doors.

=/\= What is it Mercy? =/\=

Stuart just realized the mistake he made. Now there was an alien loose on the station. This was not going to be good.

"Uh, Admiral...we have a security situation. The alien from the artifact has just escaped from the infirmary. It has some type of active camouflage, and it is very quick."

=/\= How in a Nova's starburst...never mind. I'll get the details later. Admiral Lin out. =/\=

Stuart knew he had screwed up and he would hear it from the Admiral later.

Within seconds sirens went off and a voice could be heard over the Starfleet section of the starbase.

Post by Paul Drew on 26 Aug, 2005, 1:53pm

Drew took a deep breath; he really wasn’t looking forward to this conversation with Lily. He knew Magellan was right, and that Lily needed to be told she was a Starfleet computer system, not the Ambassador’s own personal computer, but he knew it wasn’t going to be easy. In some ways he thought, Tammy and Joanna got the better end of the deal, looking after Tedak’s overly active son, who seemed to share his foster father’s flare for getting into dangerous situations.

Sitting down in the large leather chair behind his desk, he pressed a control on his console, this brought up the entire display of the current status of the computer system. Then with one more deep breath, he spoke to Lily.

“How can I help Admiral?” Lily asked.

“I want to talk a bit about your programming Lily,” Drew said slowly, thinking how best to word what he had to say, “It is my understanding that you are totally merged with the Starfleet systems on the station?”

“That is correct,” Lily replied.

“So in a very real sense, you are apart of Starfleet.”

“In a way, yes I am,” Lily answered.

“And from the Starfleet programming you have access to, you understand the security procedures that every Starfleet system as, such as command codes?”

“Affirmative,” Lily replied, using the typical Starfleet term.

“Therefore, you understand that Ambassadors, while having a high security clearance, do not have any command codes.”

“You are referring to Teedak and Ambassador Saarok?” Lily asked.

“Yes,” Drew replied, “you see Lily, since your merger with the Starfleet systems, you have given Ambassador Tedak in particular a massive amount of access to our systems, a privilege he is not entitled to.”

“But Teedak is my friend,” Lily replied, “I only wish to help him.”

“I understand that Lily, and its very commendable,” Drew answered, “but, you if you wish to remain merged with our computer systems, you must follow Starfleet protocol, no one, not even Admiral Lin can leave this station, through transporters, or shuttle, without the express permission of the duty watch officer on Ops.”

“Am I not allowed to help anymore?” Lily asked.

“You can help, but only as far as the Starfleet programming inside of you allows, when your programming says a Starfleet command code is required to do something, do not do it until you receive the correct command code, and execute the correct security procedures to verify the code.”
“Is Tedak in trouble?” Lily asked.

“He may be, he just may be.”

But, before Drew or Lily could say anything more, the entire room sounded with red alert alarms, and then Magellan’s voice came over the comm system, calling all senior staff back to Ops.

“Remember what I said Lily,” Drew called, as he hurried down the corridor towards the nearest turbo lift.

Lily roamed around the computer systems, accessing files on Starfleet security protocols and absorbing the information in them. It was quite clear to her that she'd done something she shouldn't have, and that her actions may have endagered the lives of everyone on the station.

She sent a message to Admiral Drew's console, and that of Admiral Lin telling them both that she was really sorry about it and that she'd try her best to stick to starfleet protocol. She was only just very afraid to lose the few friends she had, those she'd acquired before becoming part of the station's computer system.

~~

Tedak sat back in the pilot's seat, stretching his arms above his head. "I really hope that Saarok has something on Vulcan that could assist him in regaining his memory. Is there no way that Salek can assist?" he asked, gazing at V'Shal who looked rather desinterested around the shuttle.

He gazed out at the window, then smiled. "Have a look, that nebula over there somewhat resembles a tea pot doesn't it?" He chuckled, but stopped quickly when V'Shal didn't seem to find it even remotely funny. "At least my wife would've given me some sort of challenging response," he muttered, and fixed his gaze back on the book he'd been reading.

~~

D'Beren crawled rapidly through the Drew family quarters, squealing as the girl tried to catch up with him to confine him somewhere. Then suddenly the top of his head connected with something solid, looking to be two long poles standing quite close together.

The boy sat up, rubbed his head and started crying, alerting the bronze firelizard that had remained behind on the station, and now came shrieking into the family quarters. The little bronze settled on the floor and chittered at the boy, then glared up at the individual whom the two long poles <aka legs> belonged to.

The ride in the turbolift seemed to take longer than usual, although Drew reflected, that was probably because it was stopping at so many levels, as everyone called the lifts to arrive at there red alert posts. Finally reaching Ops, Drew walked out to find it in total ciaos.

“Security reports the intruder is now on level nine,” someone called out.

“Tactical teams are already on the scene, sealing all exits from that deck,” another replied.

“It’s no good, security now reporting the intruder as again moved, scanning for new location.”

“I would say report, but I don’t think there is any need,” Drew said as he approached F’rras.

The Bolian looked up at Drew, with a well and truly stressed and non amused look on his face; he even seemed a deeper shade of blue than usual.

“Everything ok?” Drew asked him, concerned.

“Remember that Vulcan ship?” F’rras asked.

“All to well,” Drew said, recalling the ‘encounter’ he had with the Vulcan Captain of an un-registered Vulcan ship a few hours ago.

“They have just departed from the base, according to our sensors, there course matches the last known heading of Ambassador Tedak’s shuttle.”

Cursing silently, Drew moved to his own station and reviewed again the details of the Vulcan ship, although only lightly armed; it was still tactically superior to the Ambassador’s shuttle.

“Send out a warning on the last known frequency of the shuttle’s comm system,” Drew ordered, “I’ll inform Starfleet Operations in the Vulcan system to stand by to assist them.”

“Aye aye sir,” F’rras replied, “message sent.”

Having done all he could for the Ambassadors, Drew turned his attention back to the intruder currently running loose on SBA. Magellan had been busy in the centre of Ops barking out various orders, and it now seemed most of the station was sealed off, but still the intruder was moving freely around the station.

“Have we got a sensor lock?” Drew asked, walking over to Magellan.

“Barely,” Magellan answered, “whoever they are, they are moving to fast for us to track them constantly.”

“Can we flood the decks with something will knock him out?”
“Maybe,” Magellan answered, “some one get on to Dr. Mercy and find out what might knock this thing out.”

The Romulan ambassador looked up from his reading when suddenly the short range sensors started beeping furiously at him. "A Vulcan ship is on direct approach," he announced, raising an eyebrow at V'Shal. "I don't recall calling for assistance, and I certainly don't recall getting a message that a Vulcan vessel would be meeting up with us."

V'Shal looked at the readings,
"Is a Vulcan ship in Vulcan space that unusual?"

"I think you'd better wake up your bondmate, and leave me to deal with my shuttle," Tedak cut in, "so far they seem to be guessing wildly as to where we are. Note how they seem to flit all over the place, is that how a Vulcan vessel conducts a search?"

"It is irregular. But they maybe using a pattern we are unfamiliar with. Perhaps we should hail them... although..." she paused and frowned at the registry "On second thoughts it is highly random. I m a less inclined to think there activites are legitamate"

"No, I didn't think so either, so my guess is that whatever is aboard that shipt, it aren't Vulcans." Quickly, he checked the diplomatic vessel's equipment. "Cloak is still fully functional, and we are still three hours away from Vulcan."

Then suddenly the ship shook violently, and alarms started blaring. "Correction, make that cloaking device offline," he muttered, peering at the damage report. "This is odd," he continued, "they seem to have scraped our hull, that shouldn't have been possible. Whoever was on that shuttle, lured us into believing we didn't know they knew where we are."

The ship shook again, this time accompanied with the distinct hum of a tractorbeam having taken hold of the ship. "Computer, counteract that tractorbeam, send out a tachyon pulse to disrupt it. Once we're loose, ahead full warp and alert Vulcan Space Control that we're coming in damaged and under attack!"

The computer remained oddly silent.

"Seems I've got to do it myself. Ma'am if you would be so kind to mind our speed and jump to full warp once we're loose, then I'll see to getting that tachyon burst up that tractorbeam."

"I shall endeavour to meet your...demands"

Saarok was meditating in his quarters for the past 5 days. During that time he had not even slept nor eaten anything in an attempt to somewhat restore some of his old strength. It was not an easy thing to do but slowly he did manage to establish a more solid barrier then what he had before. He would need to establish a link with a Vulcan perhaps even V'Shal in order to gain some of her strength in order to enhance his own mind.

Suddenly he felt the ship shaking. He opened his eyes and broke of his meditation cycle when the ship shook again. Weapons fire his mind said. Someone was attacking them and it would appear they possessed means to detect cloaked vessels. He got to his feet and went out of his quarters towards the cockpit.

"What is happening?", he asked V'Shal and Tedak

"It appears we are under attack from an armed Vulcan Science Ship" V'Shal summarised.

"A Vulcan ship?", he said, "More of my former friends, V'Shal"; he asked

"It would seem so. I did warn you of the threat - perhaps now you believe me?"

"Logic would state if that is the truth they will not permit us to jump to warp", he said, "Now we can not stay here for too long either", he said, "But perhaps", he started, "Recently I have discovered that I poses a fair amount of knowledge on weapons systems, perhaps if you could bring up a scan of their ship I might be able to remember the point where we need to hit their ship to disable it"; he said

After reviewing the scan for a few seconds he thought he had the answer.

"Here"; he said, "A direct hit in this junction should disable them long enough to allow us to escape", he said

Saarok hoped that his mind was correct and that a hit in the place he pointed out would disable the Vulcan ship.

"Perhaps we should hold that in reserve. They have us at a tactical disadvantage. I believe we should talk to them first bluff our way out. Mask your life signs and claim to be on a diplomtaic mission."

Tedak looked unsure but said,
"Actually This vessel isnt very big. Lets give it a try." quickly he set up a dampening field around the aft compartment, "Saarok, go back there."
Saarok obeyed.
"Okay lets give this a try" Tedak said and keyed an open comm line,
"Diplomatic Courier to Unknown Ship. Please cease your attack"
The image of a stern Vulcan appeared on te screen.
"Why?" he stated matter of factly,
"This is a diplomatic ship on a mission to reunite romullus and vulcan."
"And..." he replied as a another phaser shot whizzed past.
"And" V'Shal asserted forcing herslef into view, "And we are TWO entirely innocent parties. We are on important business."
"Two you say" that Captain paused. "Our scans indicated 3."
"Check again, there are only 2"
The captain did so.
"So it seems. We were told a third was aboard."
V'Shal nodded,
"Then your information was wrong. I am sure whoever is paying you WOULDNT want you destroying an inncoent vessel."
The Vulcan nodded,
"I understand. It would be most ineffiecent and Illogical if our quarry is not aboard. Good Day"
With that the survey ship pulled away and departed.
"That was close." Tedak noted, "Lets get this bird ground side."

Stuart had entered Ops and was observing the attempted capture of the run amok alien.

Admiral Drew noticed his presence. "Doctor, is there anything we can maybe use on this thing to help capture it?"

"We could flood the environmental system with Anesthezine, it's a fast-acting sedative gas. Of course we need to be able to isolate our guest in a certain area, before we just let this gas loose."

"If you would, doctor, could you please prepare a batch and coordinate with engineering the distribution of it? As soon as we have him cornered, we'll coordinate between with the Operations Officer and the Engineering Officer the dispersal of the gas."

"Yes, Admiral. On my way. I'll contact you when I have the batch ready." Stuart disappeared from Ops for this new assignment.

“Thank you Doctor,” Drew replied, as Dr. Mercy hurried off to get ready. On his own console, Drew started looking for any sort of pattern to the creatures movements, it was then he noticed, each time the creature appeared, it was getting closer and closer to the docking bays. Not on a direct route, but it kept appearing closer each time, using this information, Drew pinpointed the next deck the creature was likely to appear on, at once he erected forcefields throughout the location.

“Operations to Dr. Mercy, I hope you’re ready.”

“Ready and waiting,” Mercy replied.

“I believe the creature will appear somewhere on deck twenty three, I have forcefields around the location, prepare to release the gas.”

“Aye Admiral,” Mercy answered.

“There he is, now Doctor!”

“Releasing gas,” Mercy reported, “it’s having the desired effect, the creature appears to be unconscious.”

“I’ll have security bring him to the infirmary; I’ll be down there ASAP.”

Closing the channel, Drew brought environmental controls back online on deck twenty three, clearing the gas, then lowering the force fields, he sent security to capture the intruder. Once all this was done, he left Ops to meet up with Dr. Mercy.

Post by Q2 / Simon Tomlinson on 4 Sept, 2005, 3:06pm

Having been running around the station for the past half an hour, doing one thing after another, Tomlinson had not much appreciated then having to chase the intruder around the starbase. Thankfully that particular game was over now, and the intruder had been returned to sickbay. The security chief however, had still not done his complete work for the day. Admiral Drew had sent him a message requesting that he check on the security of his quarters, and on his daughter. The admiral, he was sure did not know the awkwardness that was caused when Simon was with Tammy Drew, not, he suspected did he know of what Tomlinson was now recognising as something of an infatuation that Tammy had for the security chief.

However, in spite of this, the Commander was not going to argue with an order from somebody who was so much further up the chain of command than himself, and instead he followed out the orders. It took him next to no time to come to the conclusion, already reached by Drew, that the breach had simply been caused by Lily giving Tedak too much clearance, and short of repeating Drew’s speech to Lily, there was nothing he could do.

So with that done, he now only had to visit Tammy and make sure that she was okay. Drew had reported that she seemed a bit shaken, but otherwise fine on his departure, but something told Tomlinson that she might be a bit more shaken still when he arrived. So shaken in fact, that he would have to remain to make sure that nobody else got in for a while, maybe even until her parents arrived back. The security chief sighed, he was sure that Ayiana already suspected him of something, but he had done nothing wrong, and so saw no reason to protest his innocence to her.

He stepped into the Admiral’s quarters, and was greeted immediately with the site of Tammy lounged across the couch, watching a short holo-vid. Her hair was down, spread out over the armrest, and her clothes were much simpler than those she normally wore. She certainly didn’t seem very shaken, and indeed, had not even noticed him, so enthralled was she. He considered turning around and leaving the room, but did not want to get in trouble with Drew later, and so he coughed lightly.

- “Miss Drew?” Her head spun, and she looked horrified and shocked. He thought he heard her mutter something like ‘My hair!’ but he couldn’t be sure.
- “Simon, what are you doing here? How did you get in?” She asked, shocked still.
- “Your father said that you seemed a bit shaken, and asked me to check up on you. As to how I got in, my security clearance would allow me even into Admiral Lin’s quarters and office should I wish to use it, however in this case you father had left instructions on the computer that I be let in.”
She looked about the room for a few seconds, as if considering something, and then she ran to him.
- “You can’t see me like this. I’m fine, I’m fine, go!”

He was shooed out of the room, and stood outside for a few seconds, in shock. He had not expected to get out that easily, but the manner of it had left him in no split mind about why he had been removed. Not because she didn’t want to see him, but that she didn’t want him to see her looking ‘normal’.

Magellan sighed a breath of relief as Drew informed him that the alien had been brought under control.
"Any idea why it went wild?"
"Other than waking up somewhere unexpected I m not sure" Drew replied.
"Fair point. At least with him out of his coma we maybe able to get more information."
Drew frowned,
"Since when has that ever been the way of things"
Magellan returned the admirals burgeoning smile,
"another fair point. This is getting to be a habit. I thought I was the sensible one."
"What can I say, the universe is a strange and wonderous place."
"Well good work Paul. I suggest you go get some rest. You ve been on duty for hours."
"Sure thing. I can hardly remember what my family looks like"
With that Drew departed.

An hour later and Magellan had managed to check in on Mercy and meet with Captain Irae of teh El Salvador.
Magellan watched Deis depart and then returned to his desk.
"Sir!!!"
Magellan looked up as Zoilip apppeared in the Ops doorway to his office.
"Its the Nevada."
"Shes here!!" he answered leaping to his feet. He appeared at the master operations table in a matter of seconds just in time to hear Frass assign them to Berth 6.
"Any word on their status?"
"Only that they have Sickbay on standby - multiple casualties" teh Regulan reported,
"Multiple!" Magellan repeated "Page Dr Mercy - ensure hes on hand, and wake Admiral Drew, have him report to Ops at his earliest convienence."
Zoilip paused his blue bifurcated face cautious,
"Sir you only just sent Admiral Drew back to his family an hour ago, he ll no doubt be asleep by now, especially after..."
"I m well aware of the Zoilip, that why i said wake and earliest convienince not even I would expect some one to report in their night clothes. Though theres always a first time. Whens your shift end again?" he grinned at the bolian.
F'rass interrupted their banter sidling up beside them,
"I m getting a message from Captain Jira"
"Put it through to my office" Magellan replied, returning to his small space.
"Harrias good to see you I thought we d lost you for good. And with one of my ships too."
Harrias smiled, except his grin was tight, one born from weariness and loss.
"It looks like things were tough. Forget the formal report just give me the highlights."
Harrias nodded in approval and began to relate their adventures since their disappearance from known space.
Magellan listened carefully and nodded and frowned at the appropriate points. He perked up at the mention of the artifact.
"Thats most interesting." he replied at the conclusion, "Sounds like we have something here. I ll not explain now, I ve arranged a briefing for tommorrow at 0900 hrs in confernece lounge 3. Have your senior staff attend. Till then get your people sorted and get some rest - Fr'ass can sort you out. Magellan out."

Within minutes a disgruntled Drew appeared in Ops,
"It never rains but it pours" he noted dryly
"You can say that again. I ve just recieved word that teh Nevada's back." Magellan explained
"They okay?"
"I havent had a full report yet but Jiras message included phrases like wormhole, time travel and strange artifacts."
"Great - Time travel. That means Temporal Investigations will be sniffing around. Hang on - did you say strange artifact?"
"I surre did. I m arranging a meeting with Captains Jira and Irae tomorrow morning. I d appreciate your presence you did after all rescue the Angel."
"Sure what time."
"0900hrs. Conference Lounge 3. Till then could you schedule support teams to speed repairs the Nevada and El Sal and get them resupplied ASAP."

Magellan watched his friend depart and then made his way down to sickbay to check on their alien visitor in person. At this rate he would have to move it nearer to Ops, he seemed to be flitting between the two all day long.

The last section of their journey to Vulcan was largely uneventful, although tedak was aware of a small sensor ghost. Always on the edges of their long range sensors something lurked.
They passed through the inner defences of Vulcan and easily cleared customs using their joint diplomatic papers.
Tedak at V'Shals instruction put the shuttle down in the Takona region space port. From there they hired a skimmer and made the 2hr journey to the small and obscure city of Shri'Nuon.
"So do you feel any memories returning back in your birthplace?" Tedak asked,

TAG Saarok

"Well perhaps more will come to you. So where do we start."
"Perhaps the family home." V'Shal suggested,
"You once told me your mother ran a small business in the business quarter?"

TAG Saarok

"I see. Well it might be a start. Tedak. Why dont you go book us a room whilst Saarok and I go take a look." V'Shal asked politely.

"Let us proceed", Saarok said as he and V'Shal left Tedak and proceeded to the business quarter. It was not a large part of town for the entire town was not too large itself so it was no surprise Saarok thought as they were moving through the streets.

"Tell me"; he said; "Do you believe that the Vulcan ship gave up on you when they detected only 2 life signs on board?", he asked

"They went away logic would assume that was the reason. What else could it be?"

"It would be logical, I doubt that they are that naive"; he said after she responded to him

"I am terribly sorry", the man said avoiding eye contact with both of them, "I wasn't looking where I was going", the man resumed, "Here let me help you pick your things up", the man said as he gave a pad to Saarok, "You seem to have dropped this", the man said and before either of them could do anything ran of down the street

Tedak scowled as he sauntered off through the hot streets of the Vulcan city. This was his first visit to Vulcan, and already he didn't like the place. He marched into the first building that resembled a hotel and to his chagrin found it was fully booked.

"Fine, I'll see if I can find a diplomatic office," Tedak grunted, wondering how the Vulcans could ever stand this heat. His dark robes were absorbing the heat, and he was thinking that perhaps he should change in something that reflected light rather than absorbing it. However, by his robes people could see that he was a diplomat, whereas if he would change in something else they might not.

He found the diplomatic office and through there found he could book two rooms in a nice hotel, which surprisingly was set for off-worlders as it had airconditioning. "Put it on my diplomatic account," Tedak told the warden, as he followed his host to his own room. There, he finally changed in a cream coloured robe and went out on the streets again to find V'Shal and Saarok.

"I have booked us a room in Hoted Seaside," he announced and smirked, "ironically, there isn't a sea even remotely in the area. Have you two discovered anything?"

'I had never expected to see you return here. You told me once it maybe neccesary but I never thought it would come to this. You can be rest assured your safe house is still intact. No one has been near. The files are encrypted as per your instructions. I know things must be bad for you to come back here. Watch your back old friend.

Saarok stared at the PaDD unsure what to make of the enigmatic message.
"Well looks like we have found part of the answer - teh location to your safe house."
"I dont see an address?" Saarok replied,
V'Shal shook her head, "You really are losing your touch."
She crossed to a public terminal and actvated.
"Computer locate a property owned by a Tyrone put paid for by a Saarok"
"1 Property located. Payment of rent lapsed and transfered to Tyrone."
"Location?"
"Apartment 35, Selan Flats, Upper East Side."
"There we are" V'Shal replied, "Lets get going. Perhaps you could track this Tyrone down Tedak? or perhaps get the shuttle ready for take off. I doubt this will take long now."

ooc: oops...forgot to change accounts......this is posted as Tedak, obviously.

"Why don't you track down this Tyrone," Tedak retorted, "then I'll stay with Ambassador Saarok." He was growing extremely tired of being ordered around by a woman who claimed to be Saarok's wife. Since Saarok had no memory of her, even though she claimed they were bonded by necessity of pon farr, and claimed Salek was not her son, Tedak doubted she claimed who she said she was.

Tedak knew he had needed to contact Saarok's son, and was now waiting for the starfleet doctor to respond to his call.

<Salek?>

"You may be of the secret service," Tedak glared at the Vulcan woman, "but I am not at your beck and call. I am staying with Saarok, to figure out if he has left any clues at this property. You, my dear, do not have the benefit of useful pets the way we do. And my shuttle is always ready for take off. All it needs is my say so, and it goes anywhere I please."

~~

"Stuart?" Lily asked, almost uncertainly after being told to stick to starfleet protocol or risk getting deleted, "I have a message for you from Ambassador Tedak. He asks if you can check whether Ambassador Saarok's son is also the son of the Vulcan female called V'Shal. He also asks if you can contact Salek through the official medical channels, while he himself has tried to do so through the diplomatic channels."

“What is our current distance?” Sopek asked from his round command chair. It had been approximately an hour since there encounter with the Romulan diplomatic ship, the ship that did have three life signs, that changed into two. The very same ship that Sopek knew the traitor Saarok was aboard, but Saarok’s helpers were not the only ones who could mask sensor readings. The organisation had technology much more advanced than a simple Romulan shuttle, one that would have no idea it were still being followed.

“We are approaching Vulcan,” his Tactical Supervisor replied, “I am detecting the shuttle in the Takona region.

“Is Saarok there?” Sopek asked.

“According to the docking records of the spaceport, three were aboard the shuttle.”

If he was anything but Vulcan, Sopek would have smiled. Saarok was finally trapped, and soon he would be crushed like a bug.

“I am going down to the surface,” Sopek announced, “download all details of Saarok’s movements to my tricorder.”

“Yes Director,” the Tactical Supervisor replied.

As he stepped onto the transporter padd, Sopek couldn’t help but make one last comment before the beam claimed him.

“I do hope Saarok was not planning to live long and prosper.”

Hidden inside the transporter beam, Sopek did this time smile, he would enjoy killing the traitor Saarok.

"Perhaps it would be better if the two of you remained in front of the door and allowed me to enter myself as we do not know what kind of traps I might have put down to protect whatever I might have inside", Saarok said

"That is agreeable to me. I believe we should all stick together though" V Shal replied.

<Tag Tedak>

"As you wish", he said as the trio proceeded to walk down the street towards a safe house which is supposed to posses the means to fight S31 or the person who was or is plotting to take him down. For all he had so far was the word of V'Shal and there was no evidence whatsoever to support her claim except for her record which suggested some sort of black ops.

After a moderately long walk the trio fantastical arrived to the door of the apartment that was supposed to be the safe house belonging to him. But for all he knew it could simply be a trap. When they arrived to the entrance Saarok pulled out a tricoder and started scanning the room behind the door.

"It would appear as if there is nothing inside", he said to V'Shal and Tedak

"Perhaps we should attempt to open the door"; V'Shal suggested

"It is the only logical course to pursue", Saarok said as he went and put his hand on the pad next to the door. But before he could do anything more, he felt a transporter beam engulf him and he dematerialized from the planet surface leaving V'Shal and Tedak behind.

V'Shal for once looked unsettled.
"This is most...unplanned for" she said to herself and quickly pulled out a tricorder, "It looks like an orbital transport"

<Tedak>

--Meanwhile in orbit around Vulcan--

"Transport successful, they will not be able to detect it I used the former high command transporter network to conceal the signal", a man said

"Good", another one said as he rushed back to the transporter pad where Saarok was standing looking around attempting to ascertain the environment in which he was now

"Director, welcome back", the man said

"Director?", Saarok asked

"So it is true the damage was as our scientists ascertained", the man said, "Luckily for a time they did attempt to find a way to restore your memory", the man said, "Before the overturn and another one taking over forcing me to flee with the few supporters I had.", the man said

"Overturn? Supporters?", Saarok asked looking as surprised as a Vulcan can be

"It is a long story for which at this time I do not have the time for", he said, "When they see that you are missing it will not take them long to locate us so we must act quickly", the man said, "Before the overturn our scientist were researching the energy burst that 'caused your memory loss, and they were on the verge of creating a way to restore it but then the project was stopped and a new Director took over.", he said, "But I and a few others who are loyal stole the research before it could be destroyed and escaped in this vessel. We spent a fair amount of time attempting to finish the project and we managed to do it, well sort of", the man said

Saarok was still looking the man right in his eyes, if he wanted him dead, Saarok would already be dead, it was possible that this man was telling the truth he thought.

"What do you mean by saying it sort of worked?", Saarok asked

"Well it doesn't work as we expected it, it 'causes and overload of the neural pathways and puts one in a comma after which, if the person awakes the neural links are reestablished and ones memory is restored.", he said

"You are implying if I submit myself to this procedure I might end up as a plant?", Saarok asked

"Well we only tested it on the Humans there is a chance it will work find with Vulcans as your neurophysiology is, stronger"; the man said, "And if you do not submit S31 will remain in the hands of the new director who will return to the old ways and all that Starfleet hoped to accomplish by putting you in command will be lost. And you will be dead."; the man finished

"If you desire to submit to the procedure, simply enter your safe house and the system will transport you to your real safe house where we prepared everything for the procedure", the man finished

"Sir, the enemy ship is approaching, they are initiating an active scan, they will detect us in 3 minutes", the man said

"Beam the Director back down, now"; the man said, "Just remember all that is at stake here", he said and a few moments later Saarok was back in front of the door of his "safe house"

<Tag V'Shal, Tedak and the man trying to kill him>

V'shal seemed mightily releaved to see Saarok return.
"Are you ok?"
"I think so" Saarok replied,
"What happened?" Tedak asked
Saarok explained briefly,
V'shal frowned ,
"This is most irregular. He seems to be wanting to help you but I wouldnt trust him at all. I suggest we move quickly to your safe house"

Saarok tried the door and entered. The room was empty save a single transport pad. It was big enough for all three to squeeze on before Saarok pushed a button.
They vanished in a haze.
They appeared in a large windowless warehouse like room. There were no doors either.
"Wow" Tedak whistled,
"Indeed - it is impressive. It looks as if there are enough rations for you to be able to live here for years" V'Shal noted.
"Well lets get searching, Saarok must have a backup of his memory here somewhere."
The three vulcanoids split up and began checking padds and rummaging in boxes.
V'shal worked quickly and methodically her goal was nearly reached. It had taken hard work and Tedak had been more than a thorn in her side. But she still smiled at how well her plan had worked. By hiring mercenaries to kill Saarok she had driven him straight to his safe house and the list of deep cover agents. Now she just had to find it.
After five minutes of searching she found Saaroks back up and quickly discarded it, that was of no use to her. Finally she found the Padd she wanted. It wasnt completly up to date, but there were enough current names here to make her very rich indeed.
Carefully she sidled round to the platform.
"Hey where are you going,"
"Home and without you" V'Shal said, "Though I think you can survive here a awhile. She bent and placed something beside the transporter pad.
"Goodbye dearest Husband you always were too trusting."
With that and before Tedak or Saarok could respond she disappeared in a blue haze shortly followed by an explosion that tore the pad to shreads.

V' Shal re appeared on the surface and hurried into the crowds, she knew Saaroks ally, the one who had beamed him up was still around and she needed to get away fast, quickly she pulled out a comm unit,
"V'Shal to Sopek. I am ready for extraction. Repeat I am ready for extraction."

The force of the explosion threw both diplomats the the ground and they were showered with debris. The two men covered their heads for protection, as the managed to scramble to safety. Tedak got to his feet first, then helped his friend up. "Are you undamaged?" he querried, then burst into laughter. "Right, I never thought I'd be using Vulcan speech," he chuckled, "I'm sorry, I suppose it is the direness of this situation that is getting to me."

He dusted off his robes, and swiped at the hem of his robe, which was aflame. He gazed around, gazing in awe at the damage the explosion had done, and at the transporter pad which was still ablaze. Trying the door, he found it locked, and for some odd reason the windows had been barred. "Since when are windows on Vulcan covered up?" he asked, though not expecting an answer.

Smoke was filling up the room fast, obscuring the objects in the room from sight. "I don't suppose your apartment has any secret passages, does it my friend?" he asked, as he continued to check his clothing for fire. Apart from a few scrapes and bruises, he was feeling just fine. "We must get out of here fast, I have no doubt that this place is highly flammable, and if the smoke doesn't kill us first, then either the fire or another explosion will."

Saarok was still coughing from all the dust that was in the air since the explosion. That woman he thought, one can not avoid giving her credit for all the tricks she pulled on them he thought.

"I would have expected you to keep an eye on her, after all you’re the one who said don't trust her"; Saarok said to Tedak as he moved away from the fire

<Tag Tedak>

"Cover your nose and mouth", Saarok said as some gaseous compound started spraying from the ceiling and began extinguishing the fire which was caused by the explosion. After a few moments all the fires were out and the gas subsided.

"Well at least we need not worry about the fire now"; Saarok said. Just as he was done speaking Tedak shouted informing him that there were several people and some equipment transporting in. Saarok went over to join Tedak and saw that it was the guy who brought him up to the ship just a half an hour ago.

<Tag Tedak>

"Director", the man said, "What happened here"; the man asked looking over at the debris around the floor

"V'Shal, my wife or so she claimed, stole a pad from here and blew up the transporter pad when she escaped", Saarok said

"Took a pad? Then, this is not good"; the man said, "She could sell that pad which contains all the deep cover agents you placed on nearly all the federation member planets, in all the important institutions, in the Romulans senate, the Tal-Shiar, the....", the man stopped when he saw Tedak listening to all he was saying

<Tag Tedak>

"There is no time for that now", Saarok said, "I consent to the procedure, it is time to restore my memory"; he said to the man that introduced himself as Cmdr. Jackson.

As soon as Saarok gave his consent for the procedure the other 2 people who were with Jackson started to unpack their equipment.

"This will take a bit of time", Jackson said, "It would be helpful if you found the backup of his memory somewhere around here, as it would make the job so much more easier.", he finished as he joined the men who were preparing the equipment. One of the men was a Vulcan and the other was a Betazoid.

Meanwhile Saarok and Tedak returned to searching for the backup of his memory but as neither knew what it looked like it would be pure luck if one of them found it.

"I may have something", Tedak called over showing a pad which had a very unusual shape

Jackson went over to take a look, "Amazing"; he said, "It is a scan of his brain displaying all the neurochemical links, voltage .... With this we'll be able to restore his memory for sure without any danger, well at least everything till about 3 months before the incident with the energy discharge", Jackson said as he went over to the machine

"It is time"; he said about a half an hour later

They laid Saarok down on an improvised table and administered him with a narcoleptic drug. After which they arranged the other equipment around his head....

"I would have expected you to keep an eye on her, after all you’re the one who said don't trust her"; Saarok said to Tedak as he moved away from the fire

"After the way she bossed me around?" Tedak coughed, still attempting to extinguish his burning clothing. "Keeping an eye on her and sticking close to you two would've aroused her suspiscion. I am, however, still awaiting answer from your son. I've tried to contact him, I hope either the medical corps or the diplomatic corps can find him."

"Yes, that does indeed take care of the fire, now perhaps we should go looking for some new attire?" The Romulan raised an eyebrow at the new person who had joined them, and then at Saarok himself. He pointed at their tattered clothing. "We've been on fire," he said matter-of-factly, "after you're done with Saarok, perhaps we should find a medic, hm? Not that I don't trust you lot, but my friend here is very vulnerable and not matter what you're gonna do with him, I'm going to be here to make sure you don't foul up. And when you're done, we're going to the nearest medical fascility to make sure you have indeed not fouled up."

He fell silent as the group of men seemed to ignore him, and fell in to a hushed conversation with Saarok, who also momentarily seemed to have forgotten he was present.

"Please don't mind me," Tedak said, "I seem to have been talking to air for the past ten minutes or so, you lot were so engrossed with one another, one might start to think that maybe you all were dating one another!" He grinned at their confused expressions. " He glanced at Saarok. "I still have a few friends in the Empire who'd be willing to keep an eye out for that information your....wife....stole from you."

He watched as the men started to discuss a few things among themselves. It seemed that Saarok now consented to a very dangerous procedure, and soon he found himself joining Saarok in search for a back-up of his memory. Not much later, the back-up file was found, and Saarok was prepared.

Tedak was told to stay to the side, and not interfere with the procedure at any point. Their bodylanguage told the Romulan that they would sooner have him removed, or even far away from their location, than let him watch. "If you harm him in any way....." Tedak threatened, and left the threat hanging in the air as he watched anxiously as they started working on his friend.

--Some time later--

Saarok was still lying on the improvised bed in his safe house on Vulcan. He could sense the drugs slowly wearing of and senses returning to him. He attempted to get up from the bed but still was not strong enough to do it. He felt dizzy so he returned to lying down. He didn't see anyone near him; they probably presumed he was still out cold. Slowly he remembered how he got too the place where he was now. V’Shal he thought and a flash of images flashed before his eyes. A body of a young Vulcan female around the age of 45, she was naked and approaching him ... Then the same female dressed in a black uniform shooting at a group of human colonists on an unknown planet... Next images of Saarok as a young boy on Vulcan came to him. His mother was holding him in her hands then the image disappeared it was replaced by an image of a Starfleet admiral talking to him, he was wearing the captain's pips the admiral was mentioning an assignment, taking control of a rouge department. Then it was replaced by an image of an old Vulcan male talking about suppressing emotions while a young Saarok was following him through a desert, "We are following the true path of Surak", the elder Vulcan said as they resumed to walk through the desert. Then the image faded away and was replaced by Saarok carrying a young human female out of a cavern of some sort, she seemed to be terribly injured. Then the image faded away and was replaced by an image of Saarok dressed in a black uniform on the bridge of a ship that appeared to be a galaxy class, "10 minutes till we reach the outpost, admiral", a man said

"Prepare all weapons, prepare to de-cloak behind their defense perimeter, if we fail, the federation will be lost"

And the image faded away. It was replaced by an image of a Vulcan male wearing a teal uniform. "It has been a long time since we last spoke, father", the young Vulcan male said. And the image faded away...

--After about an half an hour of flashing images--

Saarok could hear someone calling his name out in the black of his head. As slowly he returned to reality.

"I am .... undamaged", Saarok replied, "And I have regained my memory, and the logical thing to do now is to return to Starbase Assaillant right away. V'Shal made the rendezvous point in good time and had to wait for Sopek to arrive.
She had known Sopek nearly as long as Saarok, as mercenarys went he wasnt bad. Few expected a Vulcan mercenary and they were rare - but he was well worth it. Efficient didnt even cover it.
"Do you have it?"
"Dont worry you ll get your money"
Sopek nodded,
"What about Saarok?"
"he shouldnt be a problem even if he and his romulan lapdog escape the room, I havent called off the assasins. He ll be running for a long time - and if not - well he ll be dead"
"You say it so calmly"
"Well he always was a bondmate of convienince, and now well he is no longer needed."
"Where first then?"
"Where indeed. The Tal Shiar is out because of Tedak, teh Cardassians are a ruined nation as are the Dominion. So... I know - The Orion Syndicate. Lets get going and set a course for Farius Prime."

Salek was away on a mission for Starfleet Intelligence when a message was sent out for him from an ambassador Tedak. When he returned to SFI headquarters on Earth and his office he received the message.

"Intriguing"; he said as he listened to the message again

Tedak gently shook his friend; it had been hours since the black clad gentlemen, which had treated him none too friendly, had reparted, and had left their chief unconscious and unchecked upon. "Saarok wake up!" Tedak insisted, then took a few steps back when the Vulcan finally stirred. "Are you all right?" he asked, concern showing in his voice.

"Right this way," Tedak agreed, "my shuttle is still ready for departure. She couldn't have taken it, without specific instructions, nobody can fly that thing. If I'm aboard, and voicing oders, it won't need those instructions. Let's go."

The Romulan helped the older man to his feet, and supported him into his shuttle, easing him down in the navigations chair. "And you're going to rest my friend," Tedak insisted, "don't touch that console until I ask you to. No doubt you feel overwhelmed by information you didn't remember you contained, and your mind will need time to process all that information."

Then his glance fell on a blinking light, informing him that he'd received a message.

And indeed as soon as he'd read the message, all traces of it disappeared from the ship's computer system. "How nice of him," Tedak muttered, "but there's nothing in his message that we didn't already know." The Romulan sat down in the other chair and told the ship to set course for Assaillant, after Vulcan Space Control gave them clearance for departure.

~~

The Romulan diplomatic vessel was nearing starbase Assaillant at high speed, dodging the weapons fire coming from a small agile craft that had been pursuing them for days now. "Starbase Assaillant, we are under attack!" Tedak cried, as he continued to maneuvre the small craft. "Saarok my friend, I could use your assistance about now. You concentrate on returning fire while I'll try to stay out of his weapons range."

He was knocked right from his seat when at last the enemy's fire pounded on the hull of the diplomatic vessel. Shields were already severely weakened, and were about to fail them. Rubbing the back of his head, and trying to get vision back into focus, Tedak climbed back in his seat. "Mercy's going to have a ball with us," he scowled, as his vision stayed out of focus. "You'll have to do both now my friend, I'm too dizzy to even aim our torpedoes."

He turned back to his console and just managed to activate their distress signal, while Saarok continued to display what must like aerial antics towards anyone witnessing the battle from Assaillant.

Post by Zhukarak Hrisvalar on 13 Sept, 2005, 12:57pm

Zhukarak was in the fighter's hangar bay as the alert sounded. Zhuk was part of the Perigrine fighter contingent on Assailant, when he was not away on mission with the Nevada. He was checking on their progress, when lights lit up, and horns sounded.

A federation shuttle, Romulan, was under attack as it was nearing the starbase. Zhukarak did not await orders. He instinctively jumped into the nearest fighter and joined two others as they launched themselves through the tubes.

Zhukarak wasn't even sure if he was the ranking officer or not. He would have to check. "This is LtCol Hrisvalar, is anyone in this attack wing of higher rank?"

"No sir!" Came the reply times two. "Then form on me."

The two other fighters formed up, one on each wing, making a delta formation. They flew in the direction of the Romulan shuttle, which the computer soon identified as that of Ambassador Tedak.

"This is Colonel Zhukarak Hrisvalar addressing the unidentified fighter. If you do not cease from firing, I will be forced to return fire. This is your only warning."

The fighter did not heed.

"Fighter wing, engage...break right." The other two Perigrines broke to the right for a flanking maneuver, while Zhuk remained on his current flight path.

"This is Perigrine Two, I have a lock...torpedo away."

A lone torpedo could be seen, closing in on the enemy fighter. Zhuk took this oppertunity to fire his own. As the first torpedo was about to impact, the fighter performed an evasive maneuver causing it to miss. What the fighter did not take into account was the second torpedo that Zhuk had launched. As it was launched a few seconds later and from another vector, it was able to score a direct hit as soon as the enemy fighter had finished its maneuver. A small explosion could be seen as the fighter disintegrated into a ball of fire.

"Ambassador Tedak, if I'm not mistaken. You are in the clear. We will escort you home." The three fighters surrounded the shuttle for maximum safety.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 13 Sept, 2005, 2:35pm

"Thank you Colonel Hrisvalar," Tedak replied, as he sighed with relief. While his shuttle possessed weapons that could sprout deadly force, they had been no match for their assaillant. "My gratitude for the offered escort back to the starbase, I'm sure we'll need it. Also, notify Doctor Mercy that I have a patient for him."

He held up his hand towards Saarok, who seemed about to protest. "Actually, I have two. We've taken quite a beating when we were under attack, and we've been rattled about in this vessel. If the admiral can spare it, I'd like to have a maintenance team take a look at my shuttle and see if it needs any repairs. My long range communication has been knocked offline, I am fortunate that you picked up my distress signal, I was starting to worry if it worked at all."

Once they were safely in spacedock, Tedak approached the Andorian. "Sir, do you have any idea who or what attacked us? They seemed to have come out of nowhere, though we picked them up once or twice after leaving Vulcan." He rubbed the back of his head again. "Though, I think the answer can wait until we've seen a medic. I fear I'm seeing two of you colonel, and I've no idea which one of you is the real one."

OOC: Magellan maybe you could clean out these off topic posts now that the matter is solved :)

Saarok was able to recover to almost his full strength during the shuttle trip from Vulcan. And fortunately the attack from the assassins did not injure him too much. The Andorian that helped them out has certainly earned a point in his book he thought. But no matter, important things needed seeing to now. He tapped his comm. badge while Tedak was speaking to major Hrisvalar:

=/\=Computer diplomatic override omega-1, initiate site to site transport for myself and ambassador Tedak to the location of Admiral Magellan Lin=/\=

=/\=I have been told to request a command code in order to initiate a site to site transport=/\=, came the reply from Lily

=/\=Computer authorize emergency computer clearance alpha-3, authorize Saarok, Ambassador rating 6, deputy director DCS, authorization code 1-1-9-zeta-zeta-green-red-1-6 execute=/\=

=/\=Command code accepted, initiating transport=/\=

And a few moments later Tedak and Saarok dematerialized in front of the eyes of the stunned major Hrisvalar and appeared in front of the even more shocked admiral Lin in OPS.

"Admiral"; Saarok said when the transport was done, "Admiral Ambassador Tedak and I require to speak with you in private, it is a matter of utmost importance to the Starfleet Internal Affairs Department", Saarok finished waiting for Magellan to lead the way to his office

_/\_ Dr. Mercy. A high priority message has arrived via Starfleet Medical. It is a response to your inquiry over Ambassador Saarok. Also, Amdassadors Saarok and Tedak are back on station, currently in a meeting with Admiral Lin. _/\_

"Thank you Lily. Please display message at my terminal." Stuart leaned forward at his desk, anticipating what he was about to read.

>I have received your inquiry about the relationships of my parents. The woman you speak of, V'Shal is not my mother, nor ambassador Saaroks present wife. My mother and his wife is one, T'Pau. That had settled it then, and confirmed the heritage of Ambassador Saarok. Stuart still wasn't quite sure why he was asked by Amb. Tedak to look into this.

A marine Colonel had chimed in earlier also, via the comm channels, and Stuart had made preparations for the Ambassadorial visit, but now they were in conference with the Admiral. Things sure were funny around here. As if he hadn't enough to do with this virus, to be given the 'hurry up and wait' routine.

Re: MISSION 2.4 - Dreamweaver - Fugue States -Brie
Post by Harrias Jira on 14 Sept, 2005, 2:05pm

Harrias was walking slowly along the corridors of Assailant. It seemed so long since he had last been here, and yet nothing had really changed. The truth of course, was that it had been far less than a year since he had walked them before, and on a starbase such as Assailant, very little changed in such a time. Oh, of course, there were different traders in the market place, and plenty of new faces among the crew. But at the same time, there were many of the same traders, who nodded to him in greeting as he passed, and a few of the crew members he passed also seemed familiar, although on a starbase the sheer size of it meant that the crew may not have changed at all, and he would still know less than a quarter by sight, and maybe only a tenth by name.

The Nevada was undergoing some much needed repairs at the moment, while the various members of his crew had peeled off to undertake tasks of their own, or even take some leave time. Grace and the Doctor were investigating the Angel crew, while Zhuk he had heard had just gone off in the fighter squadron. He wasn’t sure what Frek and the science officer were up to, although he suspected that Frek was either going to come back covered in plasters, or with florescent yellow hair. As for the trill captain, he was just taking a break. Although he was sure that there were many jobs that he could do, not least trying to discover who the missing four Angel crew members were, he had decided that a short rest would be the best thing he could do at the moment.

A few minutes later, Harrias had found that his feet had taken him to the operations centre of Assailant. He glanced in through the door, and found an unusual sight. Or, he thought to himself, the usual kind of sight on Assailant. Through the door Ambassadors Tedak and Saarok were stood and in front of them Admiral Lin and Colonel Hrisvalar, who looked like they had been talking, were staring at them in shock.

Harrias was moved to tap the chime to request entrance, but before he could do so, the door slid open, and Colonel Hrisvalar stalked out.

- “No gratitude at all. None at all.” Harrias tilted his head slightly questionly.
- “Colonel?”
- “I save their lives, but now they boot me out and expect a private meeting with the Admiral. And look, he accepts it too.” He sighed. “If you don’t mind Captain, I have some things to sort out.”
- “Of course Colonel. I think I’m going to ruffle some feathers.”

He smiled at his first officer, and then walked through the still open door into Ops. He quickened his pace so that he managed to get across the large room and to the door of Lin’s office before it had quite finished closing. The door on his arrival reopened, and the trill Captain stepped in through the door.

- “Admiral. Ambassadors.” He nodded his head in greeting.
- “Captain? I was just about to have a meeting with the Ambassadors. Is there anything I can help you with?”
- “No, no Admiral. I was just hoping to listen to what they had to say. You do, I believe, remember my credentials here?” He smiled wide. Although Magellan had never been happy with some parts of Harrias’ career, he had learned to accept them, and Harrias just hoped that he didn’t see this as a power play, but simply as something that Harrias needed to do.
- “Indeed.” Harrias’ smiled dropped. Though his superior had agreed to his staying, he clearly wasn’t happy about it. The trills’ friendship had always had this elephant in the corner, and jira just hoped he could keep it in the corner, and not let it come into the open.
- “Admiral! I demand a private meeting!” Saarok’s voice remained level, but firm.
- “He will stay. He has more than enough clearance Ambassador.”

The Vulcan’s eyes narrowed, but he sat down, his back to Harrias, clearly manoeuvring to exclude him as much as possible.

"His clearance is not the issue here admiral", Saarok said, "Allowing him to stay would create more problems and we have enough as it is, i do not intend to expand them, no offense to you of course captain, but this is a matter best discussed between the 3 of us, without the captain", Saarok said, "And if you are so intent on having him sit here I will not be able to reveal the things I was about to reveal. Some of them concerning my health which is a private matter and the clearance level he has will not convince me to say what I have with him here. Further more, I refuse to endanger more lives then needed in order to satisfy ones interest in matters which are best left know to the fewest people possible. But this, what I have to say will unleash a Pandora’s Box if it ever departs this room. Further more I hereby declare the matter classified information of which no record is to exist. I therefore request that all internal sensors in this room are disconnected and all access sealed during our conversation.", Saarok said, "And I assure you I posses the high enough clearance to request this. And I warn you again that when I say what I have to say you will all be in danger. And as you are already aware there have been several attempts on my life recently and there will be more and by telling you what I have to you will become a target and I desire to ... protect the captain from that experience, as there will be a very slim chance for him to make it out alive if they find out what he knows and I will be unable to prevent his assassination, and do not fool yourselves no matter what or how many security officers you assign to guard him they will not save him, I assure you.", he said looking at the trill Captain, "Therefore I once again imply that for the safety of us all, it is logical that this matter be restricted only to the people who need to know and the Captain is not one of those people therefore it would be illogical to include him.", he finished

Magellan sighed,
"Very well Ambassador. Captain Jira does have the clearance but I ll acceed to your request for the timebeing."
Harrias looked up and Magellan usehered him to the door,
"Just go with it old friend, these two have been up to their adventures again, and its best I deal with this alone. I ll try and catch up with you before you leave. If its anything important I ll let you know"
"Okay - I ll hold you to that."
With Jira gone Magellan settled back in his chair.
"Okay then Ambassadors - what have you been done now? Getting shot at is becoming the norm for you two."

Within the bowls of the Stations ventilation systems the hunter killer drone snapped back to life. The computer system registered that the Target was back aboard. Down in Sickbay Gremmel lay as still as he could. The room was cold and he felt sluggish. He could barely concentrate. He felt so ill, so weak, part of it was being away from 'The Pacifier' but most of it was due to it. Why hadnt the relief shift arrived, why had he been forced to work another hundred years, a hundred years that had fried his brain and left him in such a poor state.
Groggily he got to his feet. Perhaps that dash through the strange station hadnt been a good idea - but he had paniced and fear made you do strange things - and now he felt worse than ever. Where was he?
He could vaguely remember a ship arriving, people, lights shining at him and then... and then nothing till he was here.
He staggered across the small room, enclosed by plexiglass windows. A nurse turned and saw him in surprise she dropped her tray, the noise caused Dr's Mercy and Melain to turn.
"Hes awake again" she said,
Mercy moved swiftly over to the outside of the room,
"Contact Security - we dont want him escaping again. Oh and tell them to wait outside I dont want Security Thugs clogging up the place."
"Aye sir"
"This is the alien found on teh Angel" Mercy explained to Melain, "hes spent most of his time in a coma, when he did wake he ran off."
Gremmel staggered forward a few steps and beagn to speak,
"Trek la nor topay. Trek la nor topay - Kamet rik chee, rik chee"
Mercy shook his head,
"Lily. Can you recalibrate the Universal Translator?"
"I will try. It is not in my database. I will extrapolate."
"I will?" Lorre questioned at the computers informal tone.
"Its a long story" Mercy replied, "Lily is Assaialnts compute system. She is also sentient"
"Calibration complete"
"Trek la...back. You must send me... Kamet rik Die..."
With that Gremmel staggered once more and collapsed his strength spent.

"I will get right down to the point", he said

"The satisfactory news are that I have regained my memory well most of it at least, I still do not remember nor will I ever, who or what 'caused my memory loss.", he started

"Having regained my memory I have remembered my past, who I was and what i did and also who V'Shal the person who claimed to be my wife is. And ... I used to be the director of the Starfleet Internal Affairs Department, however when ambassador Spock requested that I take the place as ambassador for the Federation I retired from my fleet rank and took an ambassadorial rank. I have however named a successor who was to take my place, but as you might think I did not vanish from the scene completely, I still possessed a certain level of influence over the department, well in the human terms which are more familiar to you i still called the shots, and things I requested got done.", he paused

"However after my little incident with the unknown power source and loosing my memory i obviously did not remember anymore who i was nor what I did and for a time the SIAD scientists worked on finding a way to get my memory back however after a certain amount of time certain people from within, or should i say V'Shal convinced one of the deputy directors that i posed a risk to the federation and that I’d be better left of without remembering what i did or who i used to be. And she also convinced him that the new Director, whom i picked out myself, was blinded with loyalty towards me and posed a risk.", he paused and looked at Magellan who seemed to be listening closely

"So through certain tricks and double-crossing the deputy director managed to get the director thrown out and tagged him as a threat to the federation in accordance with Special Order 66715. But the director was more intelligent than the deputy predicted and he, with the help of a few loyal men, managed to secure the results and equipment on which the scientist were working and which could restore my memory, stole a runabout and went into hiding.", Saarok said and paused to take a breath

"After their plan failed V'Shal thought up another one, she put a bounty on my head in order to get me to lead her to my safe house where she was able to obtain a list of SIAD secret agents and which she now intends to sell to the highest bidder.", he said

"Now as you can see SIAD still thinks i am the enemy and our first course would be to make them worry about something else for a while as i can not risk having men loyal to the new director get in my way while I am attempting to capture V'Shal and .... ensure that the list will not fall into enemy hands and that she will not speak of it ever again.", he said

"Now the first thing we need to do, and this is where you come in, is this. I need you to order that my personal security force which consist of 6 men are arrested and thrown in the brig as they are actually from SIAD and i can not risk having them run around here, but make sure that you invert the polarity of the containment field in the brig and that the field covers a phase variance of .5 otherwise you will not be able to keep them inside. Then i will establish a link with SIAD and disable their computer system with my override codes which still function as they are encoded in the computer core itself and still function. This will provide a long enough distraction for me to do what i need to.", he resumed

"After that is done, I will visit a .... friend here on base, someone you know, the Mayor, Mr. Simeth and convince him to assist me with finding V'Shal, and i assure you he can help me and he will", he paused

"After that, my friends from Vulcan, who helped me get my memory back, will arrived here with their ship but do not be preoccupied you will not be able to detect it is stolen as they have altered their signature. And we will use it to hijack one of the SIAD's larger ships by duplicating a signal from SIAD and telling them a rear admiral Sovar will be coming on board to take command. Now with the help of your doctor i will alter my appearance which will make it impossible for them to see that I am really that admiral. And with the help of the larger ship i will hunt down V’Shal and her friends and they will be taken care of in accordance with Special Order 66715. After which i will have all the evidence i need to restore order to SIAD and get the rightful man back into command and put the one who has taken over where he belongs in accordance with the Special Order 66715.", Saarok finished

After their hurried transport to the admiral's office, Tedak felt extremely dizzy and the room was spinning before his eyes. On top of that, the many voices in the room were too loud and he found himself unable to concentrate on any of them. Fortunately, soon Admiral Lin ushered Captain Jira out of the room, and he found himself surprised that he wasn't escorted out either. His own security codes were nowhere near that of Jira, even though, as diplomat, he did have certain high clearances Jira might not have. However, Tedak knew they wouldn't be nearly enough for the classified material he knew Saarok was about to reveal.

He sat down heavily in the nearest chair, which happened to be the seat Magellan had been occupying earlier. Briefly, he wondered where his pets had gone off too, then remembered that he had explicitly told them to remain with his son at all times, no matter what. Rubbing his head, he groggily gazed up at Lin and Saarok, and listened in silence as Saarok launched into a detailed explanation of what had been going on. Much, he already knew, but he had no idea what a SIAD was. Nor could he really be bothered to remember right now.

After Saarok was done, he finally spoke up. "That's all good and well, but where do I fit in?" he finally asked, "I doubt I can be of help, and right now I'd rather be somewhere else. And so should you." He gave a meaningful glance at Mercy, who was waiting outside the office.

Magellan listened carefully to Saaroks story knowing full well there was more to it than that.
He suspected, reading between the lines, that SIAD was just a front for an organisation he'd heard of - Section 31. He was not comfortable with secret organisations of any form, and especially not when an Ambassador from another, formerly hostile, nation was present.
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Well you can start with locking up my security detail"
Magellan nodded and tapped his comm badge - he spoke briefly to Tomlinson and then turned back to Saarok
"Done."
"Next we need V'Shals description circulated and the owner of a Vulcan Ship who goes by the name Sopek located."
"That will be harder to... Hang on. Sopek? He was here 10 days go. I have his registry on file."
Magellan ran his hands over the console,
"Ah yes here it is - Reg: VC 12-56A, probably fake but its ID tag was picked up near the Remati Array in the Golanic Cluster."
"Orion Space?" Tedak suggested,
"Farius Prime" Saarok noted coolly "Shes going to sell the list to the syndicate."
"Now that can't be allowed - I ll contact the closest starship and prepare an intercept."
"Thankyou Admiral" Saarok nodded and left with Tedak.
Tedak looked puzzled and stopped his friend.
"Your just letting the Admiral deal with it? V'Shal will run rings around a starfleet crew."
"V'Shal ran rings around us." Saarok noted dryly and Tedak nodded somberly the embarassement still raw, "But that... was before I got my memory back. Get your shuttle warmed up- we're going to Farius Prime"

We have been friends for a while now and he still does not know me Saarok thought as he and Tedak were leaving Magellans office.

"You should see dr. Mercy now while I take care of some things here on base, after which you and me, that is if you wish to accompany me, will proceed to Farius Prime and show my dear wife i am not getting old... yet.", he said as dr. Mercy came up to them

<Tag Tedak, Mercy>

After he left the ailing Tedak in Dr. Mercy's care, he proceeded down to the lift which he then descended to his private office which was a part of his personal quarters on the VIP level. When he arrived to his door his two firelizards greeted him by flying around him. Follow Drolem Simeth but do not allow him to see you, he thought as he looked at Aeris. A few moments later she vanished into thin air. Keep an eye on ambassador Tedak if he says something he should not alert me, he thought and his other firelizard vanished as well.

After he entered his office he went to his desk and sat down. He activated his computer:

=/\=Computer open, secure and encode a channel with array number 173=/\=

=/\=System could not locate array number 173, channel could not be opened=/\=

=/\=Computer open a secure, encoded channel with coordinates 231-569-85 =/\=

=/\=Emergency computer clearance alpha-4, authorize Suvok, computer specialist level omega-1, blue-green-red-blue-1-1-5-9=/\=

=/\=Opening channel..... channel opened=/\=

And a few moments later a face of a Human/Betazoid male dressed in a black uniform with the pips of commodore appeared on screen.

"Yes.... you", the man son the other side said

"Shocked to see me are you? Thought that V'Shal killed me and therefore secured your new position did you? That was highly illogical as that would not have helped her goal you were naive to trust her, and that mistake will cost you your life", Saarok said

"You dare to threaten me! » the man yelled while his face became pale and his voice less secure

"I do not threaten I promise, and I promise that soon you will join all those people you killed on a new plane of existence", Saarok said

"You... you wouldn't", the mans started

"I will and would, had you not been as greedy as the worst of the Ferengi you could have led a comfortable life but you decided to proceed illogically and therefore must pay for it. If you look on the computer display on the right side of you will notice in a few seconds that emergency protocol theta 4-1 will be initialized which will disable your entire computer network and comm. array and you will not be able to reactivate it. Also do not attempt to contact your agents on this base as they have all been arrested and thrown in the brig.", he resumed

"And as soon as I settle the score with ... Mrs. Saarok I will come after you", Saarok said

"Wait....", the man shouted but to no avail

=/\=Computer send order theta-41 with the activation code imega-21-red-blue-initialize=/\=

=/\=Transmitting.... comm. channel terminated, array at coordinates 231-569-85 is no longer operational=/\=

Do not underestimate your opponents as a human saying says Saarok thought as he rose from his seat. He went over to the back of his officer where a pad was build into the bulkhead and actually was a hidden locker. After he typed in a few codes the door slid sideways revealing a closet which contained several pieces of equipment including some clothes and weapons.

He took of his diplomatic robes and put on a black uniform and a utility belt that contained a tricoder and two odd looking phasers. He took of his usual commbadge and attached another which was equipped with a special site to site transporter. He removed the rear admiral pips which were attached to the robe and put them in a pocket of his uniform. He tied on a knife around his right angle and an additional smaller phaser around his left one. And then he was ready for some.... cowboy diplomacy as Jean-Luc Picard would call it.

He tapped his comm. badge and transported himself to sickbay. When he materialized he saw a shocked face from Dr. Mercy at his sudden arrival.

"Dr. I require some assistance", he began and explained mercy he wanted him to change his appearance so he would look like a human

"I require it to be done ASAP doctor it is a matter of life or death."; he said

<Tag Mercy>

After Mercy finally agreed to do it, he moved over to his romulan friend who was lying on one of the biobed nearby.

"Feeling any better friend?"; he asked

<Tag Tedak>

"Have you decided if you are going to come with me or stay behind?", he asked

Post by Stuart Mercy on 20 Sept, 2005, 11:11am

When the two Ambassadors hadn't shown up after the Colonel's emergency call, Stuart decided that he would look them up and go to them. He was sure something was up.

After locating them through Lily, Stuart had arrived at Ops. The Andorian marine forcefully excused himself as if he didn't want to be part of whatever was going on. A Captain, Cpt Jira, Stuart remembered from the briefing, also exited from Adm Lin's office with a dismayed look. The two Ambassadors could be seen talking to Admiral Lin, and it was obvious that no one was allowed to know what was going on.

Stuart looked on, through the view portal between the Admiral's office and the rest of OPs. It was apparent that Ambassador Tedak was having difficulty keeping his balance. Finally they were finished and came out. Admiral Saarok had some finishing words with Admiral Tedak before handing him over.

"Here you go Dr. Mercy. I appologize for the delay, but it was of the utmost importance that we spoke to the Admiral before seeing you. Admiral Tedak will need some immediate attention, he doesn't seem well. I will be down in your infirmary after I complete some other business."

Stuart took Ambassador Tedak to the Infirmary for a complete checkup. The scans showed that he was just suffering from a loss of equilibrium due to his inner ear having been traumatized, possibly from the quick maneuvering of their shuttle in their escape attempts of the enemy fighter. A hypospray dose of the right medicine to counteract the effects, and the Ambassador was back on his feet.

Ambassador Saarok arrived in a blue haze, just outside of Stuart's office. Stuart was surprised of this type of entrance by the Ambassador. "Could you not have at least warned someone?"

"Yes, I apologize doctor, ut I am in a hurry. I'm going to need a special procedure done, and quickly." The Ambassador explained what he needed done.

Stuart was taken aback. "I can't just do that at your request. I'll have to notify Admiral Lin and get his approval."

"Well then hurry, doctor. We don't have much time." Stuart went ahead and verified everything with the Admiral. He gave his approval without much explanation.

"Alright Ambasador, if I can get you to lie down over there onto that biobed. The procedure is going to take about an hour. Jill, would you please prepare everything we need?" After everything was set up and the Ambassador laid down, Stuart went to work with the assistance of Nurse Jill Tsomba.

Tedak chuckled as he heard Saarok mention that he wanted to look human. "I sincerely doubt you'll pass for a human my friend," he laughed, "you're way too stiff, and humans show their emotions all the time. You're Mr Unemotional usually....at least before you lost your memory that is."

He gazed from Saarok to Mercy, and back to Saarok. "Oh no, I'm not going to change appearances," he said, stressing the word 'not', "however, since you're bound to get into trouble on your own, I'm not going to let you go on your own. "Drolem, my friend, it has been a while", he said as he entered the room and grabbed Simeth by his throat and raised him several inches above the ground

"Did you think you would get rid of me so easy, it is me, don't you recognize me, Saarok"; he said

"It that's what must be done," Tedak consented reluctantly, "then you must do so. I am not going to let you go off chasing after her on your own, not when there's assassins on the loose bound to send you to what you Vulcans call Sha-ka-ree."

The Romulan diplomat blinked, sure he wasn't hearing this correctly. "A new name?" he querried, surprised, "very well." He paused a few minutes, thinking hard. "Saryn," he suddenly said, "and this person will be only three quarters romulan. Sarynn will have a romul, an father, and a half romulan half vulcan mother. Quote:
"Well you wanted to remain romulan, did you not", he asked

"Yes, well....but I didn't think to be posing as a prisoner," Tedak sputtered. He wasn't pleased with Saarok's cover story, but he surmised it'd have to do. How else would one explain a Romulan traveling with a human, in a Romulan vessel? "Very well," he agreed, "just as long as you make sure not to really sell me off."

Quote:
"Then meet me... at your vessel"; Jonathan said as he activated his handheld transported and beamed off

Tedak sighed and walked down to the shuttlebay to start up his vessel, after going by his quarters to exchange his robes for something that'd stand less chance of betraying his true identity. When he entered the shuttlebay, he was wearing dark grey pants and a blood-red silken tunic. Over that, he was wearing a black long cape with a hood that could hide his face if necessary. He had just barely made it when he heard a voice behind him. "I thought I might find you here," a female voice sounded.

The Romulan turned sharply and smiled. "T'Val!" He walked up to her and took her in a tight embrace. "You're back! When did the Jefferson arrive?"

"Only minutes ago," T'Val said, as she allowed her husband to hug her. Since there was no-one else around, she would allow him to indulge in his emotions. "But I see you are about to go off again."

Tedak nodded. "Saarok needs my help," he explained, "his ex-wife has set a bounty on him, and she nearly killed us a few days ago." He caressed her cheek as he gazed down on her. "But I promise I'll be careful. And I'll endeavour to return before the Jefferson sets out again."

"I know," T'Val replied, and turned as a human male walked into the hangar bay. "Greetings ambassador," she said, as the human approached, "do please try to keep my husband out of danger." She leaned in and kissed Tedak briefly. "Be well my husband, and do not forget your promise."

Tedak gazed after his wife, as she departed the shuttlebay. "She recognized you," he stated, then entered his shuttle, "come we must go now. Do what you must do." He sat back as the shuttle departed Assaillant, and waited for Saarok's next move. He dreaded what his friend might do to improvise, and watched him closely.

After spending a few moments on greeting Tedaks wife, Jonathan and Sarynn boarded the Romulan shuttle. Jonathan took the helm while Sarynn sat in the back. It was .... satisfactory to be back at the helm of a ship again Jonathan thought while he was initializing the shuttle's systems. After the main computer came online Jonathan pulled out his tricoder and interfaced with it. After pressing a few keys he managed to modify the vessels id signature therefore removing all possibility of it being identified as a diplomatic vessel of a Romulan ambassador.

After all that was done he reinitialized the shuttles engines and within moments the ship was powered up and ready for takeoff.

=/\=Federation shuttle - 001, requesting permission for takeoff=/\=

=/\=Shuttle 001, permission for takeoff approved, have a safe trip=/\=

=/\=Acknowledged, Assaillant control, shuttle 001 out=/\=

After the formalities were sorted out, Jonathan activated the shuttles thrusters and slowly maneuvered the shuttle out of the bay. After putting enough distance between the Starbase and the ship he accelerated to warp and set course for Farius Prime in Orion space.

"Well it is now time to make you a more... convincing prisoner", Jonathan said to Sarynn

<Tag Sarynn>

"Well rather simple", Jonathan said as he pulled a pair of handcuffs and threw them over to Sarynn.

"Part I." he said, "And now for part II.", he said as he pulled out an odd looking phaser

<Tag Sarynn>

"A surprise", Jonathan said as he pressed a few keys on the phaser after which he aimed it at Sarynn

"Hold still"; he said

<Tag Sarynn>

After another set of complaints from Sarynn was done, Jonathan started discharging his phaser at the Romulan. He started with the man’s face then moved down to his chest and abdomen. After his was done, Sarynn's face showed several nasty looking bruises, his clothes were torn in several places and marks which appeared to be from a hand to hand combat could be seen through the holes on the man's clothes.

"Told you it would not hurt", Jonathan said after he lowered his phaser and returned it to his belt

I won't have to fake injury or pain, you've done a marvelous job at inflicting it. Next time, my friend, you're the prisoner."

He rubbed his jaw against his shoulder, where one of the burns was actually itching. Off: A joint post by your two most favourite ambassadors out there :D Tedak & Saarok aka Jonathan and Saryn

"I apologize", Saarok said, "For 'causing unnecessary pain it would appear i still am not 100% my old self"; he said, "It would appear that by accident i have set the phaser to a .05 higher setting then required"; he said

"By accident?" Tedak huffed, "I thought your memory was fully restored, surely you'd remember a setting on that weapon of yours?"

"It ... i did not use it the painless setting very often i am afraid, therefore something as unnecessary as that is simply a too tiny detail for me to .... remember right away"; Jonathan/Saarok said

"Right," Tedak replied, but he wasn't convinced in the least. "I'm sure you enjoyed it, being human and all. For your sake, I hope you can keep hold of that weapon. We wouldn't want the Syndicate to get hold of it, and use it on the both of us."

"That is highly unlikely. They never proved much of a challenge for me therefore it is logical to assume they will not be a challenge this time either", Saarok said, "Now for some .... personal bruises...", Saarok said as he approached Tedak and smacked him with his fist right in the left eye, "Now you look like someone who was captured spying on Earth", Saarok commented as he stepped back

The Romulan blinked, completely caught by surprise. "Was that absolutely necessary?" he grunted, now wishing he hadn't tied his own hands on his back. "And who is to say they aren't a challenge now, you just admitted that you may not be entirely yourself yet!" He paused, glaring at his friend with his good right eye, as the left was now swollen shut. "Don't make me regret joining you...."

"The ... skills we need here are those which i have used... often enough and therefore they are sufficient to deal with my dear wife, i assure you she will not .... live to enjoy her profit", he remarked, "And do relax, you are much to tense", he said, "It was necessary as now you'll have something to be angry at me about and that will entertain the guards at the slave market, they .... simply... adore those who resist", he added

"You don’t sound too sure of yourself," Tedak retorted, still glaring at his friend. "And I'm not going to be a convincing prisoner if I'm going to be relaxed now am I? Rest assured, were I able to right now, you'd be nursing a black eye as well......"

"Ah, that is more like it", Saarok remarked, "But you would not stand a chance, if i remember correctly V'Shal was able to get the better of you and I... well there is no need to increase the level of exposure"; he said as he heard the computer beeping

He went over to the console and saw that the access codes from Simeth have arrived. He stored them in a file and returned back to Tedak,

"That message was from my ... friend on Assaillant, we now possess the codes to enter the Orion slave market", he added

"Hmf," Tedak snorted, remembering the embarrassment of being subdued by the Vulcan woman. "You know, you should be nursing a black eye too......you're not going to be very convincing, being unscratched and all..." He narrowed his good eye as he stared at his friend, hope shining in it for a second. "I really do hope you're not intending on selling me, because you will regret it"

"Of course not... well not permanently. You are much to valuable as an ally to loose you", Saarok said giving the appearance of not even hearing the comments about him being unscratched

"Really," the Romulan replied, sounding sarcastic, "and what guarantees do I have? You're not the one sitting tied up, and rather unable to move without pain, unable to move at all at that! Nor, might I add, do you have impaired vision right now." He wrung his hands behind his back, attempting to get a little more comfortable. However, he was failing miserably, and the only thing he achieved was sliding down the seat slowly.

"I am ..... shocked by your lack of trust in me, do you not remember that Vulcans do not lie", he said as he moved over to the helm console to check the time remaining till they reach Farius Prime

"Vulcans may not, but I know you to occasionally bend the truth," Tedak retorted, "a lot in fact. And you are posing as human now, and humans are known to lie right out if needed. Who am I to doubt that maybe you are attempting to act human right now? So far, you haven't done anything to convince me that all I am is bait and nothing more. You're going to have to do a little better than that my friend......"

"I do not have time to deal with your... lack of trust", he said as he pressed a few keys on his tricoder which released Tedaks handcuffs, "But i really do not see the point in you staying handcuffed during the entire journey", he said, "You cuffed yourself prematurely", he added, "Here, put this on", he said as he threw Tedak an odd thin looking device, "Try to conceal it somewhere on you but keep it somewhere you will be able to press it if things get ugly", he finished

Raising both eyebrows, Tedak rubbed his wrists and concealed the item in the waistband of his pants. He suddenly rounded on Saarok and his right fist connected hard with the Vulcan's jaw. "Now you have proof of resistance," he growled, as he sat back down, shaking his hand and flexing his fingers. He quickly concealed a painful expression as he winced slightly. "How long until we get to keep up appearances."

"That was.. unnecessary", Saarok commented but did not show any appearance as if he was in pain, "But my friend, we will be there by the time you wake up", Saarok said as he placed his hand on Tedak's shoulder and pressed lightly. After Tedak was out he returned to the helm and increased speed to the highest the shuttle could manage

"Wake-" Tedak started, as Saarok's hand clamped down at the base of his neck. His eye(s) rolled up and he slumped to the deck.

When Tedak woke up again, he found himself tied up again, and again with his hands on his back. He was still lying on the deck and he had a massive headache. The Romulan struggled himself into a sitting position, wincing every now and then as his muscles tensed up and protested against the movements he made.

His left eye was still swollen shut, but to his satisfaction he saw that Saarok's jaw was showing a nice discolouration as well. Diverting his gaze to the main viewscreen, he noticed that they were on vector approach to a planet, and he tried to recall the name Saarok had mentioned before.

"You'll have to teach me that trick," Tedak suddenly said, as he tried flexing the muscles in his shoulders and neck. He chuckled as he saw Saarok start, obviously his friend hadn't counted on him waking up just yet. "So....what's next?"

When Saarok didn't reply, at all, Tedak murmured angrily to himself. His hands were starting to feel extremely cold from being tied up, as he leaned against the equally cold wall of his own vessel. He had pulled up his feet towards his body for balance, and prevention of sagging down, but every movement was actually hurting him, still.

"Hey!" he suddenly called, as he watched two vessels aproach them. One of them was unmistakeably an Orion vessel, the other he couldn't identify. "I asked you something," he added. At the helm, Saarok tapped a few buttons and turned, walking up to him slowly.

Anxiously, the Romulan gazed up at him, and was startled at the determination displayed on his friend's face. For some reason, he had the feeling that his friend was up to something as he strode past him, apparently paying no attention to him at all. He could hear Saarok murmur something, and could hear the footsteps as he approached once more.

Fear washed over him when Saarok kneeled before him, and stuffed something soft into his mouth, after which he secured it with what appeared to be some sort of cloth. He gagged against the object, and his breathing quickened as adrenalin was coursing through his veins. ~what the~ he thought, as Saarok shot him an apollogetic look.

"I cannot have you betray us, you must remain quiet," Saarok whispered, "I am sorry my friend."

Tedak leaned back in resignation and fear, wondering what was going to happen now. He had no way of knowing since apparently Saarok wasn't going to tell him, and he couldn't sense it either since he was no telepath.

<your turn now Saarok.....please don't sell him! please?>

Gremmel awoke groggily yet again. Why did he feel so ill? What were they doing to him here. He had to get back get back to the Pacifer, who knew what might have happened by now!!.

He noticed the same man outside the room. He assumed this was somekind of body repair facility, however he continued to note the armed officers hovering around.

He decided his best option this time was to watch and wait. Let them make the next move.

V'Shal if she were human would have been grinning from ear to ear, as it was only the very edges of her mouth curved upwards. Sopek walked alongside her as additional protection. Hidden within the heel of her shoe was the all important information - downlinked into an isolinear chip.
"This is going remarkably well" Sopek commented,
"As do all my missions" V'Shal replied haughtily, "It certinaly helped having Saarok under my thumb."
"Hes turncoat - if Section 31 could see him now - cavorting with a Romulan Ambassador. In Sloans day he would have met with... an accident."
"Indeed. Those days were much more efficient. Still in 3 hours we will have met with Grolk and got our money and we need never see each other again."
Sopek paused,
"We have worked well together, it would be logical we continue to do so." he suggested,
"I work alone" V'Shal answered tersly and then paused "... although in the future I will consider you for any future missions"
Sopek nodded and said,
"that would be agreeable."

The surgery for Ambassador had gone well, although it was badly timed. The Alien reptile had awakened, mumbled a few indiscernible words in its own tongue, and collapsed back into its slumber.

While Stuart proceeded with the surgery, with the help from Dr. Lorre, Lily was busy extrapolating the speech patterns of the alien.

"Trek la...back. You must send me... Kamet rik Die..."

That was the result Lily had arrived at. “Dr. Lorre, do you think he means back to the artifact?”

<Melain>

“You are right. He has been getting weaker since his awakening. I don’t think he is a threat since he appeared to be more frightened when he ran off the last time. Look, he’s awake again.” Stuart pointed at the creature.

<Melain>

“I believe the Nevada is still docked, although I don’t think it will be for long. I’ll have to notify Admiral Lin of our theory, and see what he thinks. How about you notify your ship and see if you can hold them up.”

Stuart notified the Admiral and informed him of the idea of letting the creature return to the artifact, although under guard, while Dr. Lorre placed a call to the Nevada.

"Stuart?" Lily called, trying to get the attention of the young human doctor, "there is a Vulcan healer waiting for you for quite some time now. She says she's tried to get your attention before but apparently you've missed her."

The computer entity paused for a few seconds. "I believe you've met her before, but under less ideal circumstances. It's Ambassador Teeedak's bondmate."

<Mercy>

"Yes Stuart, I'll let her know."

In the mean time T'Val was waiting in the CMO's office, noticing that the office hadn't changed much except for getting a bit more of a human's touch to it. It had been several minutes now since she'd entered SBA's sickbay, and she was quite eager to get some work done. Beside her on the floor sat D'Beren; the boy was playing with five firelizards. T'Val's own green had swooped down on the boy, nuzzling him with excited chirps. Tedak's bronze and brown had never left his side, and just now, Saarok's golden queen and blue had joined him as well.

This troubled T'Val, because she knew Tedak would never go anywhere without at least Nut with him. She also knew that Saarok generally was accompanied by golden Aeris. She did know that the two close friends had gone on some adventure together, with Saarok disguised as a human.

After Stuart had contacted the Admiral and received his 'marching orders', he finally had some time for Healer T'Val.

Stuart went to his office where Healer T'Val was waiting. She didn't seem to happy...for a Vulcan...to have been waiting this long. Although, Stuart noticed, her slightly angry expression gave way to a more refined beauty in her face. She was quite beautiful to look at. ~Easy there, Stuart~

"Please accept my sincerest apologies. As I'm sure, you are well aware of the dire situation that we all face at the moment. How can I be of service to you?"

<T'Val>

"I see. As a matter of fact, I could use your help. I have read your dossier, and seeing how Admiral Lin has allowed you to serve as the CMO on the Jefferson, I don't see why I can't let you loose around here. It just so happens that I am to depart with the Nevada shortly. If you would like, Your help would be greatly appreciated if you were to continue to research for a cure of the Angel crew, and of those Aliens the Nevada brought back through that gateway. They are currently all in stable condition, and all of our current research files of their tests are logged in the LCARS system. Is this acceptable, or were you looking to be more involved with nursing?"

Stuart watched and waited for her answer. He knew she would be offended by the nursing comment, but he just wanted to see her reaction to see if she could be any more radiant than she was now. It was too bad he had to leave, as he was sure he would enjoy her company.
~Don't kid yourself, Stuart. She is married...but still beautiful.~

"Yes I was aware of that," T'Val said coldly, "and as you seem to have your hands full, I thought I should offer my assistance. The Jefferson is currently docked and until Admiral Loskene requires my presence back on the ship, I have time to help out here."

"I am not certain if you listened doctor," T'Val replied, "this used to be my sickbay. And I am a trained healer, not a nurse. I am certain that I can still find my way around, unless you have changed the entire lay-out of sickbay?"

The Vulcan raised an eyebrow at the young human, and didn't miss him staring at her in a very perculiar way. "However, I can only stay as long as Admiral Loskene allows me to, and I have to make sure he rests as well. The admiral has a knack for overtaxing himself, and not wanting to hear of bedrest."

She walked around the desk to stand beside Mercy. "Is there anything specific I need to know about, before I get to work?" she asked coolly, causing the green firelizard on her shoulder to lift her head and squawk in protest as the woman moved.

Stuart smiled to himself as Healer T’Val had taken the ‘nurse’ bait. She indeed became more sensuous as she became more upset. At least as upset as this Vulcan allowed to show outwardly.

“My apologies again, I did come across that part of your file where you ran this facility. I’ll have you know that not much has changed around here with my coming onboard.”

This seemed to have appeased her anger a little. He did notice her raised eyebrow as he was watching her.

Stuart couldn’t believe it. She came around to stand next to him. Of course she remained professional, but they had played enough tit-for-tat now that she had to know this would affect Stuart. ~She’s good.~ Stuart enjoyed this little game and anted up. “As you can see here, this virus is specifically attacking the Adrenal Medula and quite possibly the Adrenal Cortex as well, causing epinephrine levels to elevate exponentially in the Dradrians and causing this madness the Angel crew is experiencing. Dr. Lorre and I are guessing that it is targeting the entire Endocrine system. A few of the Dradrians seem to be unaffected however.” All the while he was enjoying her closeness to him, if it only wasn’t for that green firelizard.

“Please, have a seat, look over our tests and results, and tell me what you think. I have to contact the Admiral as to my staying here. If I knew for sure that your ship wouldn’t be sent on another mission soon, I would very much be able to leave you in charge here while I go along with the Nevada. However, that may not be the case and besides, I’m sure that Dr. Lorre can handle things on the Nevada without me. So if you’ll excuse me…” He gave her a smile as she just looked at him expressionless, and turned to leave his office to contact Admiral Lin.

T'Val sighed as Mercy left the office. It was one thing to get back to the station and have to wait long enough for her to have actually gotten some work done in the time she had to wait; it as another to be working with an upstart doctor who seemed to be flirting with every female he came across.

Then she smiled to herself. Knowing that Tedak had his adventures, which sometimes might include flirting with women, she supposed she could do the same. ~see what a human male does if a married Vulcan goes into his advances~ she thought ~Tedak might find this interesting as well, when I tell him of this when we meet again~

She focused on reading the data and found that she concured with Mercy's findings. She stretched as she leaned back in her chair, fully aware of the fact that Mercy was standing in the doorway again. She smiled innocently at him, making sure that only he would actually see it, and might believe he was not believing the information his eyes sent to his brain.

T'Val waved him over. "What else is known about your patient?" she asked sweetly, as she made way for him to sit down again, and leaned over his shoulder. She could feel the warmth radiating from him, and she smiled again to herself. "Apart from the viral infection in his adrenal glands, he appears to be irrational. Has the virus spread to his brain?"

She leaned even further forward, her long hair falling into his neck, tickling him slightly as she pointed at the screen. "It may have," she pointed out, "he is showing signs of insanity, thus allowing for the hypothesis that his brain is affected too. The only unknown is whether it is this virus, or something else. What state was he in when he was beamed aboard? Did anyone of his crew survive, besides himself? Perhaps we should examine the dead, see what we can find there."

She gazed sideways at him, her face very close to his as she raised an eyebrow at him. She sensed his reaction, then nudged him in the side to indicate he should move over. Surprised, she glanced up at him when he literally jumped, and landed beside the chair. "Are you all right?" she querried, as she sat down again, and accessed the Angel's crew manifest.

"Hm, apparently nobody else survived, but there are plenty of bodies base our research on. I suggest comparing reaction between males and females first, among the human crew. Then look at variation between species, and then correlate it back to the fact that this individual is still alive." She raised her eyebrow again, noting that the young human was still sitting on the floor. "What do you think?"

Stuart couldn't believe it. She had stretched purpousfully, ensuring that he was watching. She came around so close that her hair dropped onto his neck, and then she had faced him so close that they were only a breath apart from...then she nudged him to where he jumped. As he did, the chair moved back and Stuart landed on the floor. All the while, T'Val was going on with her theories as if nothing else was going on.

She had indeed noticed his interest in her, and her point had been made. Stuart got up and straightened his jacket all the while addressing her. "Healer T'Val, I have come to realize that we are professionals at what we do, and that we must remain so, at least while on the job. So let's go to the morgue, perform our exams on the dead bodies, and see if we can narrow down what is causing all of this."

Healer T'val straightened herself from bending over at the terminal, and was now facing him. Stuart walked up to her close. They were face to face now. "Perhaps you would allow me the pleasure of your company, while off duty, for a meal let's say?" He was looking deep into her eyes now.....

T'Val stared back, and smiled inwardly at the range of emotions she sensed coming from him. This would most certainly be an interesting experiment, and she knew Tedak didn't mind her doing this at all. "Now that you mention it," she said softly, while putting her PADD down, "I have not yet enjoyed lunch. What do you recommend?"

She kept herself close to him, and monitored his reaction. She now knew it had been a wise move to put on a brown suit which had a metallic hue over it, rather than her usual healer's dress. Since she wasn't starfleet, she wasn't required to wear a uniform. Taking a step back, she smiled ever so slightly, though the rest of her expression didn't change. "After we see to the bodies in the morgue," she added, picking up her PADD, and now also her tricorder, again. "Lead the way."

"Ah no, ladies first," Mercy said, smiling brightly at her.

~ah~ T'Val thought, pulling the see-through fabric of her 'dress' straight ~so we are playing this game now~ She walked out in front of him and flipped her hair back over her shoulder. She knew exactly what it was doing to him, and she glanced back at the human doctor. Back and up, because he was nearly two heads taller than she. The Vulcan barely reached his shoulders, being only 1.60 meters tall; short, for a Vulcan.

She walked into the morgue, a place she always felt very uncomfortable being, especially after the vampire indicent. ~at least there are no mirrors~ she thought, as she pulled open the first cabinet. "A female of unknown species, approximately thirty-six years old," she announced, "let us start by figuring out what exactly killed her." She gazed up at Mercy, who was standing opposite her, her face only paling ever so slightly as she watched the corpse.

T'Val motioned at the other cabinets. "We have a total of six corpses, two females and four males all of the same species, of which there is no mention of the database. However, we need to figure out if whatever has killed them, is tied to the insanity that has spread among the crew of the USS Angel, and if the captain - a human female- is differently affected than the rest of the crew."

She gazed at Mercy and caught him glancing at her, instead of the corpse. She smiled weakly at him, fully aware of how she looked. "Doctor?"

He was 'caught' again, staring at her. In truth he wasn't observing her beauty this time. He had noted how her composure had chnged as they walked into the morgue. She seemed, unsettled, a little frightened perhaps. It was surprising to see this range of emotions from a Vulcan. What was it that seemed to disturb her here?

"Doctor."

He was brought back from his deep thoughts. He did hear what she had said.

"Ah, yes. Six of an uknown species brought here by the Nevada from some type of gateway in space. And here we have the Captain from the Angel, human. The Angel was on the other side of this gateway, to be more precise...on our side. The one thing all of these bodies have in common is that they were all in the same vicinity as that of the Artifact as it was travelling through space and through this gateway."

Stuart had to admit, he felt like he was a bit in over his head here. He was glad to have the help from Healer T'Val, and also that of Dr. Lorre and Counselor Mitchell on the Nevada. This was huge, and if they didn't solve it soon, two more starships could be affected.

"Miss T'Val, I have prided myself in the saving of lives, but that's with working on live people, not corpses. I'm in a little over my head here. Short of studying the tests that have already been taken from these bodies, how do you suggest we proceed?"

It was an honest question.

Re: MISSION 2.4 - Dreamweaver - Fugue States -Brie
Post by Healer T'Val on 4 Oct, 2005, 11:00am

T'Val stared at him. "Mrs," she corrected him absentmindedly, as she returned her gaze to the female corpse. A good question indeed, how to proceed now? She didn't quite know it herself. "I believe we should dissect them the old-fashioned way," she finally announced, after several minutes of silence.

She ran her hands through her hair as she continued to stare at the dead body. "Yes, I believe that would be the best course of action right now, and get tissue samples from all organs, and run viral and bacterial tests on them. Something has to come up at some point. Has Doctor Lorre any medical records, or other data on this species that we might use?"

When she looked up, she caught the young doctor staring at her again. "Doctor, attention please," she said softly, "I asked a question, do please keep your attention on the corpse for a minute would you?" She smiled uncertainly at him, on purpose, though shuddered at the thought of having to work more in the morgue. The place unsettled her even more than she had thought it would. Even Yade stayed in main sickbay, apparently not wanting to have to do anything with it.

'Disect them the old fashioned way.' She said. "Get tissue samples from all organs.'

Stuart was caught again just staring at her. It was obvious that she was troubled, and this had made her vulnerable.

Miss or Mrs, it didn't matter. Stuart went around the table, unsure himself of what he was about to do. He stood directly infront of T'Val, who by now was looking unknowingly into his eyes... ~or did she know after all~ he wondered.

It didn't matter, it was now or never. What did he have to lose? Stuart leaned down slowly. She didn't turn or step back, but kept looking expectantly into his eyes. He proceeded until their lips finally met.

It was a passionate kiss that shouldn't have lasted as long as it did. It would have lasted longer if the doors to the morgue hadn't opened to reveal Admiral Magellan with a surprised look on his face.

Stuart and T'Val seperated quickly.

"Yes, Healer T'Val an old fashioned autopsy is in order here."

The Vulcan healer gave the Trill admiral an almost frightened look and she felt as if she were about to either faint, or sag through the deck in shame.

As Mercy cleared his throat and spoke up, she gave him an equally frightened look, then attempted to compose herself. "Yes I believe I did suggest that, but we need to know more about these people," she managed to say, though her voice was trembling.

~what did just happen?~ she wondered, and also wondered if he dared doing it again. If he did, what would or rather, should she do? "Admiral, do you know of what species these bodies are?"

She turned back to the female corpse, pressing her hand to her nose and mouth, and not just to cover for her embarassment. The body was giving off a foul odor, and she was standing in close proximity to it. That combined to the shock of being caught kissing someone other than her bondmate made the blood withdraw from her face. Without a sound, she suddenly sagged towards the deck, having fainted.

"Ah Admiral do you know what species these bodies are?"
Magellan noted T Vals change of subject and decided to go with the flow - this was none of his business after all..
"I m afraid not. The Nevada picked them up from another galaxy, They are not in our cultural databases, I have no idea who they are. Im more interested to know if there is any relationship to the alien currently on its way back to the Artifact. Jira reported a similar artifact near these aliens station?"
"I see " T Val replied,
"We hope these autopsys wil help with that"
"Excellent. Never been a fan of a persons innards" Magellan replied and then turned for the door "Well I ll leave you two to get down with it... err on with it...err... complete your analysis. Keep me informed"

After the Admiral left...

...She turned back to the female corpse, pressing her hand to her nose and mouth, and not just to cover for her embarassment. The body was giving off a foul odor, and she was standing in close proximity to it. That combined to the shock of being caught kissing someone other than her bondmate made the blood withdraw from her face. Without a sound, she suddenly sagged towards the deck, having fainted.

Stuart raced to her side, checked her vitals and checked her head for any injuries. She was alright. It was apparent that she didn't care for the morgue, and that getting 'caught' by the Admiral probably didn't go over well either.

Stuart pulled out a small glass ampule that was encased in a cloth like fabric. He carried a few of these around for just such occasions. He broke the glass within the cloth and swept it infront of T'Val's nose back and forth. The potent smell had brought her back to.

"What happened?" SHe asked.

"Well, I'd like to think it was the kiss that caused your blood to rush from your head, but I think better of it. You simply fainted. I take it that you don't care to be surrounded by a bunch of dead bodies. Let's get you up."

Stuart helped T'Val to her feet, holding onto her arms as she got up. A look of embarrasment swept across her face, together with a slight smile. Stuart felt responsible and wanted to make it up to her by getting her to relax and comfortable again.

"How about this. We have a crewman who is an excellent medical examiner, pathology is his forte. He can perform the autposies to my specifications, process the organs and tissues, and we can then look at those results when they are finished. In the meantime, how about we do get that bite to eat? I think you could use some food just about now."

"Lunch would be acceptable," T'Val said, as she was helped to her feet. She held on to the human's arms to steady herself, and keep herself from falling again. "And your proposal is acceptable too."

Once she felt confident to stand on her own, she released him, but continued to smile softly. ~I actually enjoyed that~ she thought guiltily, then gazed up at Mercy. "Why did you do that?" she asked him, knowing he knew exactly what she meant. ~do it again~ she thought, as they walked towards sickbay's doors.

"What is your hypothesis on the viral infection that has affected the human captain, and the cause of death in the aliens?" she finally asked him, keeping close to him under the pretense that she might need his assistance, "and is Magellan correct in assuming that it is related to this artifact he mentioned? I believe that this may be a sensible assumption, and we should obtain data from this artifact too."

"Why did you do that?"

Stuart was helping her up as she had asked that question. He noticed that the question was not in anger, but more out of curiosity and wonderment.

"I'm...I'm really sorry about that Healer T'Val. I have overstepped my bounds both professionally and personally. To be honest, I don't know why. I mean there seemed to be a moment there....I just got caught up....well, you are a beautiful woman and we were exchanging a few flirtatious moments, at least I thought we were, and I let that get the better of me. Again, I am very sorry about that and I hope that you don't think the lesser of me."

Stuart was sincere in his statement, but didn't want it to end. She was married though, and there was nothing that he could do about that. He needed to remain respectful.

She did not reply to his explanation, but moved right along to the research that was at hand. ~Does she hate me now? How do I play this...like nothing happened? Maybe so, it seems to be the best for the both of us. *sigh*~ These thoughts were racing through his head. He did seem to like her, but what was he to do? He listened on to her questions as they were on their way to the Habitat levels of the station.

"I think the endocrine system becomes overloaded to the point that the natural reaction of the immune system cannot cope fast enough. I still can;t fathom why the captain died, unless she was in direct contact with this virus. The Dradrian species might be more susceptible to this, hence they die right away."

They had finally reached the Arcade levels. Three levels of restaurants, stores, and other mercantile representing many species from many systems. It was vast. Stuart guided them into the The Nebula Coffee Shop.

He figured they were only here for lunch, so a full restaurant was not in order. He had heard there was quite a variety of foods in here for most of the UFP species.

As they sat down he continued with his hypothesis.

"Yes, I do think the artifact is the key, and our reptilian friend aboard the Nevada. There was a mention of a green beam that had engulfed the Angel. This could have been the cause of the infections in the first place. Maybe some type of defense mechanism. Hopefully we'll find out more when the El-Sal and the Nevada report back? In the meantime, shall we eat?"

They were now seated at a table for two. Menus were at hand on the tables and Stuart started browsing through his, all the while watching T'Val. His thoughts about her hadn't wandered far from that kiss they had shared. She hadn't refused it, and hadn't made a big deal about it. ~Maybe it's just the way Vulcan's are. they can just forget a minor incident, except it wasn't minor for me...~ Stuarts thoughts were getting the better of him again as he didn't hear her and she had caught him staring at her again.

"Doctor Mercy. I asked what will you be having?"

"Oh, sorry. I was deep in thought about the virus." he knew that wouldn't fly, but it was the best excuse he had. He was trying to respect her, but something was happening here...at least to him.

"Hm yes, I think I will just have some tea and a sub sandwich with roast beef, ham, and turkey on it. You know, Terran meats. How about you?"

T'Val nodded disprovingly of his choice of food, but didn't say anything about it. He was entitled to his own choices of food, and she didn't have to share his likes or dislikes of it, and neither did he have to share hers. "I will also have tea," she said, then peered at the menu, "and I will have this." She pointed at the menu, where the item she selected described sandwiches being stuck in a sort of machine wich made the bread crisp, and would melt the cheese between them. "I admit I have a fondness of melted cheese," she said softly, "especially cheese fondue."

While the waiter took off to attend to their orders, T'Val gazed at Mercy. "I believe we should gain permission to investigate the Angel herself. Perhaps we will find the source of the illness on that ship. Naturally we will not board her without protective clothing, after all we do not wish to become ill ourselves."

When she noticed he didn't seem to hear what she was saying, she placed her hand on his, surprised at the warmth of his skin. "Stuart?" she called, giving his hand a little shake, "Stuart, are you listening?" She fell silent, realizing that she had called him by his first name, without intending to do so. ~why is he so absent~ she asked herself ~he is not embarassed or scared now is he?~ She wondered what would come next, or whether the next move would be hers. ~should I?~ she debated ~what would Tedak think? He did say he would not mind....but it does not seem fair to him at all~

~She grabbed my hand. "Stuart, are you listening?" Oh I'm listening alright. You called me by my first name. Are you just being nice. Your hands...so soft...just like your lips are...better stop that. Your beautiful face...if I could just take it into my hands and give you another kiss...but you are married. Respect, Stuart, respect...you started this fine mess, now what?~

As much as he regretted it, Stuart pulled his hands away from T'Val, but not without leaving a soft caress behind from his fingers.

"Investigate the Angel? I truly think that Dr. Lorre will be able to handle that, although she did rise in rank on the fast track. Either way, my services are needed here with all of the patients we have on this station. We still need to run the analysis on those samples from the dead, and see what we may find there. Perhaps then, just maybe, if we find something that is, should we go out to the Angel. I can activate a couple of EMH's, although I'm not too happy with that idea...and I don't think the Admiral will be either."

Stuart was still looking at her with deep interest when all of a sudden *poof*...Yade had popped back in and settled on Stuart's shoulder. He started to nuzzle himself along Stuart's cheek.

"Uh, Healer T'Val, uh...he's not going to bite me is he?"

Stuart was trying his hardest not to shoo the firelizard away.

"The EMH has no manners," T'Val said curtly, taken a bit aback by the flashes of thought she had caught from the human doctor. She avoided his gaze, and was clearly disappointed when he pulled his hand away.

When she heard a chirp, she looked back up and to her amazement saw Yade sitting on his shoulder, and the green firelizard was rubbing her cheek against the human's face. "Now that is odd," she muttered, "Yade generally does not socialize with my collegues, certainly not if they are male." She smiled ever so slightly at him. "Yade is a female firelizard," she gently corrected him, "and no she does not bite...much anyway. You might want to feed her though, she is very fond of fresh meat."

She got up and walked to the nearest replicator to get a bowl of fresh meat, and deposited before Mercy's nose on the table. "Do not be afraid," she said, leaning over Mercy to reach into the bowl. She gently picked up his hand, once more marveling at the warmth of his touch, and placed a tiny piece of meat into it. Yade immediately hopped down and picked it up, without scratching him.

T'Val returned to her own seat and watched him, albeit a little fearfully, feed her firelizard. "At any rate," she continued, "I still believe we should request permission from Admiral Magellan to board the Angel, and do the research ourselves. I do not doubt Doctor Lorre's ability, but I prefer to get facts myself, rather than second hand."

Stuart couldn't help but observe how delicately T'Val ate her grilled cheese sandwich. Yade was busying herself at the table with her own plate of fresh meat. Stuart would give her a piece from his sub-sandwich every now and then, which Yade approvingly ate.

They had some small talk. Stuart had asked about her marriage to Ambassador Tedak. She talked about how he had been injured and so on. One thing leading to another and then the eventually to marriage. It sounded to Stuart like it was more of a marriage of convenience and circumstance, instead of true love. Then again, what did Stuart know about Vulcan and Romulan love habits? What he did know was that Vulcans did kiss with the same passion as humans.

They had just finished their lunch when Stuart's comm badge chirped.

=/\= Dr. Mercy, Nurse Tsomba here. You need to get to the infirmary immediately. Some of the Angel crew is becoming more and more delirious again. I have them all restrained, but not submissive anymore. They seem to have become unresponsive to the current treatment. =/\=

"Alright, Jill, Healer T'Val and I are on our way."

Stuart wiped his mouth with the cloth napkin that was at hand and got up, with T'Val steadfastly on his heals. Stuart noticed that Yade went *poof* and disappeared as quickly as she had come.

Arriving at the infirmary where the Angel crew was housed, it became apparent what Jill was saying was true. Angel crewmembers were strapped in their bio-beds, talking to who knows whom. Some were screaming out of fear, others were crying of guilt and shame. Looking at their bio-readings revealed nothing other than elevated brain waves.

"T'Val, uh sorry, Healer T'Val. We need to get a look at those autopsy samples. Especially the ones from the brains of our victims."

"Yes. It does seem logical that we may find the answer there as their brainwaves are affected."

Together they walked on over to the bio-lab located next to the morgue. They looked over at the specimens and samples from the dead, especially the ones from the brains.

“What do you think, T’V…Healer T’Val.”

It was becoming real hard to remain professional. Maybe he should just dispense with her title altogether and think nothing more of it, she might not even care or notice.

<T’Val>

Stuart listened intently while at the same time assessing her again on a personal level. Her beauty, her knowledge, her look when she looked at him. At least he thought or felt there was a certain look in her eyes. He had no idea what kind of vibes Vulcans gave off, if any, considering most have that strict emotional control. Her last sentence struck him odd.

“Yes, I agree with your assessment so far, but I don’t understand why we need to return to the morgue. Everything we need should be here already.”

“If you will, Dr. Stuart, please follow me.”

Stuart followed as she led the way to the one place that Stuart knew she really wasn’t that comfortable with. When they had entered and the doors had closed, T’Val turned around to face him. She walked up close, close enough to where she had to look up to gaze into his eyes. Stuart was surprised and awaiting what was to happen next, with slight anticipation.

T'Val took note of her collegue's apparant disability to remember her title and profession. Yet she didn't comment on it, and rather enjoyed the fact that someone would actually talk to her without constantly calling her 'healer' even though she was on duty. She leaned over on the desk, peering at the computer screen. "Whatever this virus is, it is certain that it affects an individual's behaviour," she suddenly said, looking sideways at Mercy.

"But I know of no viruses that actually affect brainwaves as much as this one appears to be doing. We must compare the amount of viral particles in our live victims with the deceased ones," she continued, looking rather apprehensive, "and for that we need to return to the morgue yet again."

She stood in front of him, not even taking note of the many stasis chambers. Slowly, she took his tricorder from him, and laid it aside after opening it and setting it to scan the environment "What is happening?" she suddenly asked him, gazing up at him, "the Angel crew is being subdued, our morgue is filled with dead aliens that seem to be virus infected. Yet we cannot be certain that this is what killed them. What if it is airborne?"

She took a step closer to him, very conscious of her actions. Something was going on and it was no longer an experiment to her. She felt guilty for betraying her husband, but any other action would be a betrayal to herself. ~what am I doing?~ she questioned herself, as she took another step closer. She couldn't remember the last time she had admitted to being scared, but here she was, admitting it to someone she barely knew. ~yet I do know~ she chided herself, now avoiding to look up at Mercy.

"It is my personal belief that a viral infection killed the aliens, but as they are unknown to us, we cannot be certain that it is just this virus that killed them, or thay other viral infection would also be fatal to them," she whispered, "to gain that knowledge we would need a live speciment, and to test viruses on a live person is unethical. What do we do now?"

"Dr Mercy, A word if you please"
Dr Mercy looked up,
"Ah Admiral, good I m glad..."
Magellan jerked his head towards the chief of staffs office, "A word?" he made the question sound more like order.
"I am rather bus..." Stuart began to reply but saw the look in Magellans eye, "Of course" he smiled.

Magellan entered first and then pressed to close the door once stuart was in side.

She was in his arms once more. This lovely Vulcan female. She mentioned airborne... ~That's it!~ Stuart was able to control himself. He grabbed T'Val by her shoulders and pushed her back, as much as he regretted it.

"T'Val, is it not logical to assume that our close proximity to the dead bodies may have exposed us if this virus was airborne?"

"Uh...yes...I suppose."

It was not logical for a Vulcan to 'suppose' anything. Stuart had to get them out of there. Grabbing T'Val by the hand he led her back out the way she had led him in, but not until he grabbed the tricorder that T'Val had activated and put down.

Back out in the bio-lab, he was able to continue his thoughts. "The Angel crew is already in isolation, but they must be reinfecting themselves via airborne. The Inaprovaline doesn't seem to be enough. We need an aerosol countermeasure."

T'Val was following what Stuart was saying. "How about Chloromydride."

"Yes! That's it. We need to inform the Admiral, get things back under control, and see if we can take a little trip."

Stuart was a little shocked. He hadn't been lectured like this since EMT school where he was having a hard time trying to apply the proper measures of CPR to a bio-droid. He did understand where Adm Lin was coming from.

"Yes Admiral. Uh, about that...it seems that Healer T'Val and I may have been affected by an airborne strain of this virus. I was just about to inform you of our steps to alleviate that problem."

At least it was a good excuse, for they truly weren't yet sure what had caused this lack of inhibition between themselves...unless it was true affection for one another. ~He did say '6. Tread carefully.~ Which meant he didn't disallow it, just to be careful.

Stuart went on about the virus being airborne and the use of Chloromydride to keep it under control, and the fact that the morgue was now under quarantine.

"Also sir, if you would allow, Healer T'Val and I think it might be a good idea if we were able to investigate the artifact ourselves, which very well could be the origin of all of this? We could take a runabout."

T'Val had left Mercy alone, resenting the fact that he'd shoved her aside when she needed him most. She wasn't getting any readings from Tedak, other than the occasional flash of fear, but she was growing accustomed to getting those flashes as he generally got himself caught up in one dangerous adventure or the other. And since her firelizard didn't seem too worried, she wasn't worried either.

She had retreated into a small room in sickbay, where she sat on the floor with D'beren. The boy had been brought into sickbay by the nanny, who claimed that the toddler hadn't wanted to stay in their quarters, but had wanted to go see his mother. T'Val had reluctantly allowed the nanny to leave the boy with her, even though she really was too busy to spend any time with him right now.

The boy sat in her lap, waving about wildly with his little fists. He seemed agitated, and was making growling noises, all the while peering in the direction of the CMO's office. T'Val instantly understood what was going on, as the boy doted on his adoptive father. "Ow!" she suddenly exclaimed, as one of the flailing fists painfully hit her right on the eye. She rose to her feet and walked over to the nearest mirror. The edge of her left eye was starting to turn a nasty shade of blue/green.

She gazed down on the boy, who had stopped flailing. Instead, he was looking up at his mother with an almost fearful look in his eyes. "Do not cry D'Beren," T'Val told him as she picked him up and held him close to her, "you have not hurt me. Accidents happen, do not worry about it." WIth the boy on her arms, she walked into the CMO's office. "What did the admiral have to say about our request?" she finally asked, after an awkward silence. She purposefully kept her distance, even though she felt drawn to him. It was just as well that she was holding her son.

"Done sir. We'll just be gathering our supplies. We'll be at the bay in about 30 minutes. Now you will have a crew for us right, not that we are flying ourselves. We can still run a few analysis on the way."

"I understand doctor, and no, I wasn't planning on sending two of my most valued crew members on their own. I get enough of that with my Ambassadors taking off everywhere without proper safety. A shuttle crew will be on standby."

Stuart thanked him before Admiral Lin was on his way back to Ops. T'Val came into his office carrying her adopted child, D'Beren. Stuart just stood there, taking in the scene. She looked like a natural, the way she was caring for that child. Stuart had yet to even consider children, much less even a serious relationship.

Quote:
"What did the admiral have to say about our request?" she finally asked, after an awkward silence. She purposefully kept her distance, even though she felt drawn to him. It was just as well that she was holding her son.

"The Admiral? Oh yes, yes the Admiral. A shuttle crew is being readied as we speak."

Stuart noticed T'Val's eye turning a shade of blue/green. He walked up closer to her to inspect it, although he could sense that she was trying to keep the distance between them.

"Let me see your eye. I heard him screaming out there. Did he just do that?"

"Yes. It appears that he is quite upset and irritated." T'Val admitted.

Stuart gave D'Beren his stethoscope so that he would stop flailing and hitting at him. T'Val was able to put him down, reluctantly, as he became interested in this new toy.

Stuart touched the bruise softly, pressing slightly until he could see her lips move in a wince. He allowed his hand to caress her cheek as he moved it away from her eye. She had that look again. The office was 'clean'. they weren't being affected by whatever affliction the Angel crew had. It was them. It was something they were going to have to figure out, but now was not the time.

Stuart excused himself, and stepped out of the office only to return shortly. He had brought along one of the medical kits and opened it up. Retrieving a sub-dermal tissue regenerator, he proceeded to place it near T'Val's eye to start the process of healing the wound.

T'Val still had that look in her eyes and started to speak.

"Stuart..."

It was a soft tone, but Stuart didn't let her finish. He didn't dare let her finish.

"I know T'Val, but not now. Our priority at the moment lies with those patients we have out there. The Angel crew is going mad, the Dradrians are dying, and you and I......well, we'll just have to discuss our situation after all of this passes. Until then, we have a job to do."

She remained quiet, knowing he was right. The skin around her eye had returned to its normal color. T'Val picked up D'Beren, got him situated with his nanny, while Stuart readied the supplies they might need for the trip.

Twenty-five minutes later, T'Val and Stuart arrived at the shuttle-bay to meet their crew. A pilot, navigator, and two security officers were assigned to the De Gamma. Within minutes, they had exited the station docks and were now on their way to the Artifact.

Even though she expected the human doctor to have a much better bedside manner than herself, she was still surprised at the gentleness with which he assessed the injury. She understood he had to issue a bit of pressure on the bruise, to ascertain if anything was broken. Naturally, he could've used a tricorder, but she also understood why he did not, and found herself appreciating it, and not only because she preferred hands on medicine over usage of scanners and tricorders.

She stood waiting stoically, watching him as he tended to the injury. "Stuart," she started, but he stopped her. It didn't quite surprise her, but it also hurt her feelings. Yet she understood his line of reasoning. After he was done she picked up her son and went to return him to the nanny. "Do not lose him out of your sight," she warned the nanny, then gazed at the bronze and brown firelizard that had taken up perch in the boy's lap again. "That counts for you two as well," she told Tedak's firelizards. It struck her as odd that his firelizards hadn't made a fuss about her being with Mercy either, where normally they too would have a go at any male that would come close to her.

She sighed and went on her preparations for their mission. Twenty five minutes later she and Mercy met their crew at the hatch of the Gamma. Once they were aboard, she sat opposite of Mercy and just stared at him. "I hope we were right in our hypothesis," she said, "did we consider the possebility that this virus may be harmless on its own when it is in a host, but that some other agent may be acting as a catalyst and produce a highly virulent and dangerous virus?"

T'Val leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms over her chest, shivering slightly as if she were cold and waited for the human to answer her. "I am not certain if it is possible, but certainly something could increase the virulency of this virus? Something that is indeed airborne, and when coming into contact with the host it creates what we have encountered? If this is the case, we need to be careful."
Re: MISSION 2.4 - Dreamweaver - Fugue States -Brie
Post by Ambassador Tedak on 15 Oct, 2005, 8:39pm

Tedak watched the main screen with apprehension, as Saarok sat in the command chair, steering his shuttle towards the other vessel. He knew they were cloaked, and that they were only inching towards the other vessel. The Romulan diplomat sat hunched in a corner, attempting to look as inconspicious as possible. He worked feverishly to get rid of the gag, but found himself too tired and stiff-limbed to even achieve trying to rub his cheek past his shoulder.

Then a small brown figure appeared on his knee, watching him, its eyes whirling red. The little creature didn't make a sound, and continued to watch him. ~help me~ Tedak thought at his most loyal firelizard ~disable Saarok if you can, after he's gotten the PADD. We must get that PADD, he'll just get us into more trouble if he keeps hold of it.~

Nut seemed to give a nod and hid himself just in time before two columns appeared on the diplomatic vessel, holding weapons aimed at him, and at Saarok. "He's damaged, and weak," one of the Orions barked, "we can't take him. But we have agreed that you shall be exchanged for the information you needed."

Tedak watched in fear as the Orion held up a PADD, but smiled to himself as little Nut appeared and snatched the PADD from him. He saw Saarok react, but not fast enough. The Orion fired his weapon, and the Vulcan collapsed to the deck.

By now, Tedak had managed to pull his right hand free from the cuffs, screaming against the gag as he felt bones break. Nut reappeared and dropped a phaser in his injured hand, which he quickly fired at the two Orions, not caring what setting the weapon was on. When the two Orions were down, he threw the phaser away from him in disgust. Meanwhile Nut tried to undo the knot in the gag, and chirped apollogetically when he couldn't manage it. With his healthy hand, Tedak pulled down the gag and spat the ball of fabric out of his mouth.

He swallowed a few times, and winced as he got back to his feet. "We have the PADD," he muttered, as he uploaded the information from the PADD to his computer, and encrypted it a few times. Then he made another copy of the PADD, and hid the copy in a secret compartment under one of the consoles. After that he hauled Saarok, though with extreme effort, to the aft section of the shuttle and confined him there with the two Orions.

The Romulan struggled his way over to the command seat of his vessel, and started entering the command for the autopilot to get them back to Assaillant. Even though the small diplomatic vessel was cloaked, the enemy still found ways to fire at it. Tedak screamed as the panel exploded in his face, and he staggered back rubbing his eyes furiously. He couldn't see anything and his eyes were watering as they burned painfully. At last he just collapsed from exhaustion, dehydration and pain, as every muscle in his body was still hurting from Saarok's ministrations and having sat in the same position, with his arms behind his back for several hours.

Stuart went ahead and broke the spell by answering her questions.

"I was thinking that very same thing. If you recall from the Angel's logs, they were scanned by a green beam. We already summized that it may be something in the beam that's causing this condition. From what I have observed from the reptilian, I didn't sense that he was hostile really. What if that beam was just a simple scan of lifesigns, technology, etc. It stands to reason that this artifact would act like any other ship and perform such things to determine intent of other vessels and people."

"Exactly! Now this is a non federation standard beam from a species that we hadn't encountered yet, it only stands to reason that there are some impurities within it, that weren't meant to cause harm. The virulency of these impurities may be increased by something as simple as exposure to our atmosphere."

Stuart had been rambling on with his thoughts. When he finally finished, he looked up from his notes that he was perusing and saw T'Val sitting across with a slight smile. He gave her a quizzical look.

<snip> What if that beam was just a simple scan of lifesigns, technology, etc. It stands to reason that this artifact would act like any other ship and perform such things to determine intent of other vessels and people."

"Just like we do when we encounter unknown species," T'Val caught on, nodding. She pulled the blanket closer around her shoulders, wondering if Mercy had thought she had been cold. ~obviously~ she thought. "They may be doing the same to species that are alien and unknown to them."

"The virulency of these impurities?" T'Val repeated, "surely someone would not send out a beam at living individuals, whatever their level of intelligence, if it contained something that might possibly harm them? Unless, it would be experimental, and they did not know their beams were contaminated with something." ~he looks....cute when he is concentrating~ she thought absentmindedly, then shook her head to get her mind back on the problems at hand.

She paused then stared directly at him. "Stuart, we must get hold of that beam and investigate it. If we can determine what the impurities are, then we can continue to work on a cure!" She then pointed at the main viewscreen of the shuttle. "We are nearing the Angel, we should get ready. I just wonder if there is a copy of this artifact the Nevada crew spoke about is present on the Angel. It would make sense, would it not? At least there should be measurable residue of the beam."

T'Val pulled out her tricorder, and attached straps to her medkit so that she could carry it over her shoulder. "Ready?" she asked her human companion.

V'Shal sat, the faintest murmour of a smile on her lips, staring at the viewscreen. On it a pair of Orion raiders disappeared leaving a flickering image departing.

"I m surprised that shuttle is still operational." Sopek noted dryly, "Orions pack a punch."
"They do when their emitters are properly aligned." V'Shal replied.
Sopek stared at V'Shal,
"You did that?"
"It is not my best interests for my dear husband to perish just yet."
"Is that sentiment" Sopek sneered,
"Merely practicality, who knows when I may need his services again."
"But they have retrieved the PaDD?"
"I am good at my job" V'Shal seemed to shrug, "It would be illogical for me to betray so many of my old allies, this way we get the money for the trade and they get to keep the list. You may want to fix the drip in the ion drive, its leaving a trail and I do not want dear Saarok finding us."
"They wont find him, theres no way that shuttle will make it back to any dock."
"Ah yes about that open up a commlink."

Tedaks shuttles power finally gave out and all that carried them forward was their previous momentum. The lights blinked on and off casting odd shadows on the walls.
"Computer - how long until life support failure."
"There ....is... 3hrs and 8 and 8 and 8 minutes of life supppppppp....." with that last gasp the computer died.
Suddenly Tedak realised that without power the forcefiled in the aft compartment would no longer be active. He dragged himself over to locker and pulled out a disruptor. He staggered aft and carefully opened the door. There was a strong smell of plasma, sweet and sickly, a conduit had ruptured and ensured the two orions would be no more problem, Saarok himself lay unconscious his hands blistered where the sparks from the conduit had singed him.
Tedak knelt beside him and reassured himself that his friend hadn't died. He got back up and found a medkit. He ran the dermal regenerator over the injuries and sat heavily down. They were in a fine mess, none of the systems were working and definetly not the comm. He knew the shuttle had been on course for assailant but without engines it would take years and that was if they didnt fall into a sun.
Tedaks thoughts began to stray to T Val and D'beren, it was highly likely he would see neither ever again.

3 hours had passed and Tedak was finding it harder and harder to breathe, was this how it was to end?
A faint whirring sound drew Tedaks attnetion then the shuttle locked. Tedak struggled to his feet.
There was a thump and then a whine. A sound Tedak recognised, someone had made a hard seal with their airlock. He fumbled around groggily for the disruptor and staggered to find a place to cover the doorway.
It slid open casting bright light in to the shuttle that made Tedak blink. There was a hiss of air as fresh oxygenated air replaced the cardon dioxide laden air in the shuttle. The entrance ways bright light was clouded as a figure emerged, Tedak raised his weapon at the silhoette,
"You will not need that Ambassador" a familiar voice announced,
Slowly Tedak lowered the weapon and accepted Magellans hand to help him to his feet.

"What..." Tedak said, his voice croaking. He swallowed a few times to get some fluid into his mouth. "What took you so long?" he finally managed, still squining against the bright light in the background. "Where are we?"

"We recieved an anonymous message that you were in trouble I broght the Copenhagen right away," Magellan replied, as he supported the Romulan.

"Good," Tedak nodded, gratefully accepting the support.
"Saarok," he finally announced, "he's injured. The Orions shot him, I don't know why." His eyes were starting to water as the intensity of the light became too painful to bear on his already injured eyes.

"Could we," he started, then swallowed a couple of times again, "could we go some place darker?" Then Nut appeared, squawking indignantly, holding a PADD in his claws, dropping it in Magellan's free hand. "The list," Tedak explained hoarsely.

He knew exactly how things must look to the Trill admiral. His shuttle was severely damaged, three of the four occupants were unconscious, one of which was showing signs of having suffered plasma burns. And the fourth occupant, himself, was showing signs of torture. "This was Saarok's idea," he explained ruefully, "I had little choice in the matter, he had seen to it before I could object, though he erred in the settings of his weapon. He hadn't intended to ah....hurt me, or so he says."

He shielded his eyes against the light as Magellan escorted him out of his shuttle. Outside the shuttle, what little strength he had left, left him and he collapsed. In the air, Nut screeched and swooped down, nuzzling the Romulan. But as soon as the little brown saw that he was merely weakened and unconscious, he settled down immediately.

Magellan called for a medical team and pretty quickly Tedak and Saarok were lying in teh Copenhagens limited sickbay. Dr Takadi had managed to rehydrate them both, heal their burns and even remove the surgical alerations that had been made too them.
"What about the shuttle sir" Ensign Comoordan Asked,
"Hmm, Tedak would never forgive me if I left it derelict, put it under tow and set course for Assailant."
"Aye Sir."
With a groan Tedak came round.
"Ah Ambassador - feeling better,"
"A little" he replied with a cough, "How did you find us?"
"All a little strange - an encrypted message direct to my desk. Told me where you were and that you needed help. It also told me that important information was being carried, the sort of information that shouldnt fall into the hands of the Tal Shiar. I have teams searching your vessel and checking belongings to find it. Perhaps you can save us time by explaining where and what it is?"

Tedak coughed again ever so slightly, and raised an eyebrow at the infusion drip that was inserted via a needle into a vein in his arm. Then he sat, up swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, marveling at present day's medicine. He didn't feel any pain at all, and all that reminded him of the adventure were the black eye - which the doctor had not healed just yet - a little lightheadedness, and his torn shirt.

"Information?" he quizzed, looking thoughtful. "Ah yes, that." He gazed up at Magellan. "I have copied the information into the database of my shuttle, but have also hidden a copy on a PADD in a compartment under the navigations console of my shuttle." Then he reached towards his back, and pulled out a PADD from between the waistband of his uniform pants. "Though, it would save you a lot of trouble if I just handed this copy to you. This is the original, as carried by the Orions."

He gazed over to the other bed, where Saarok appeared to be still either sleeping or unconscious. "How is he doing?" he enquired, "they shot him up pretty bad. I wouldn't even wish this on one of my closest friends, no matter what they have done to me." An angry look crossed his face ever so briefly, as he gazed up at Magellan. "Any news on the Angel captain?" he finally asked, "has a cure been found yet? If needed, I'm still available to assist in the research."

"Not much. The med teams are still working on the crews." he paused, "Dr Mercy and T Val have gone to join the El Sal and Nevada."
"So there is progress?"
"Some." Magellan replied evasivly. "I wanted to thankyou for helping retireve the information. It seems this V Shal woman was quite a handful"
"You could say that."
"She seems to have a conscience though."
"She does?"
"yes. Come over here."Magellan led Tedak into another room, Saarok joined them wheeled in on a hover chair.
"This was left for you Saarok."
He tapped up a message on the screen. The face of V'Shal appeared.
"Hello Bondmate, and jolan tru Tedak, I have no doubt thatyou are present too. Congratulations on getting the information back. See Im not so evil as to leave you to die. And dont worry Saarok dear I ve called off the hit on you. You can rest easily. You need to work on your gullibility. Something for me to test when we next meet. Its been... I would use the human term FUN but think the term instructive more apt. See you in the future."
With that the image disappeared.
