SB Assailant: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail
Post by Magellan Lin on 10 Jun, 2005, 9:17pm

Okay then peeps now that the last mission is rounding off I thought I d set up the premise for the next one for peeps to start thinking about.

The mission will be called: Ancestral Trail

Key Plot:
Ambassador Tedak is forced to play host to Senator Krotak (Romulan) and her aides arrive on the station to meet with Jak'dor and the Debruni. They state that they have come to discuss unification between the Romulans and the Debrune, but is there an ulterior motive?

Sub-plots

Me and Mercy - Having found out I had more hosts Mercy needs to find away to help me recover my memorys

Tomlinson - Provide security for the visit and perhaps do some *cough personal character development.

Drew - Will be official liason for the Romulans whilst aboard - perhaps you are starting to notice *cough Tomlinsons personal activities

Jatira - You will be responsible for Introducing Jak'Dor and the Senator and ensuring things move smoothly.

Saarok - I know you have exams so just slot in where you can - I m saving your character piece for the next mission.

I dont think I ve missed anyone sorry if I have, I also apologise for the bare bones mission briefings, use your creative powers to add zest LOL

You can begin preliminary posting when you like, formal start will be Monday.

OOC: Okay people we have severalplot threads operating here and I thin we need to tie things together a little, if only for my own sanity LOL, this could end up being a two parter. So to summarise:
Krotak trying to get/steal debrune technology, poss ally with bad debrune
Paul Castellan and Mayor in some kind of nefarious scheme.
The return of Vreenak
Magellan finding out he has previous hosts.
This formal dinner/buffet should help start tie things together and could prove as nexus for the next stage

Off: Some NPC character development of our dear major, Drolem Simeth.

=/\=Starbase Assailant this is the USS Palermo requesting permission to dock=/\=

=/\=This is Starbase Assailant, your fighter crew can dock at **** and you can dock at *****=/\= (sorry for the stars couldn't remember the correct deck/level numbers)

After receiving permission to dock on SB Assailant the captain of the USS Palermo sent a message to the fighter crew, which was provided as protection for the ambassadorial transfer vessel, to dock at the location indicated by the Starbase. Meanwhile it's CO informed their ambassador that they are about to dock after which he ordered the CNO to transfer navigational command to the Starbase.

--After successfully docking with the Starbase--

Ambassador and his associates disembarked from the USS Palermo and after preventing the security staff to examine their luggage, due to their diplomatic immunity, they proceeded to pay a visit to the highest ranking civilian of the station, Drolem Simeth, the ambassador insisted that he wanted to visit Mr. Simeth prior to settling in his quarters and seeing that he was determined the station staff directed the ambassador towards his office and then went to work on transferring the ambassadors suitcases to his quarters.

Ambassador and his group slowly made way towards the private office of Mr. Simeth as his official one was closed at this time. His private office was located in one of the less crowded part of the base. As the group arrived to the level on which the office was located, the Ambassador ordered two of his men to stay at the beginning of the corridor that was leading towards the office of Mr. Simeth and divert anyone who might want to stumble down that way.

After that was done, the group proceeded down the corridor. After a few moments they arrived to a door that was guarded by two Naussicans.

"How unusual for a simple mayor of a Starbase, don't you think", the Ambassador said to 2 of his klingon accomplices

"Bwah, the Naussican petaQ's are no match for us", one of the two klingons said

"Hold"; the Naussicans yelled at the ambassadors group

"What's your business here?", one of them asked

"Gentlemen if you could", the ambassador said, and a few moments later the door of Simeths private office, swung open and his two Naussican guards flew through the door, after them the two klingons went in

"What, what is the meaning of this", Simeth yelled jumping from his seat

A moment later a man walked in through the door, he held his hands behind his back and let his shoulder length hair cower his face while he was looking at the floor. He was walking very slowly, and even more slowly he raised his head and the hair moved from his face as he raised his head to face Drolem Simeth.

"Paul Castellan???!", Simeth said shocked before one of the Klingons jumped at him and twisted his arm behind his back

"You will refer to him as Mr. Castellan and refer to him with respect at all times, you petaQ", the Klingon yelled as Simeth yelled out in pain.

"Shut the door, and put up the sound absorbing field", the Ambassador said

As one of the two men that walked in behind him pressed a few keys to close the door, and put a small device on it and activated it.

"I'm sorry, I’m sorry sir", Simeth was yelling in pain

"There you hear the man, he is sorry, loosen your grip a bit", the ambassador said, and the klingon complied

"You seem surprised to see me Drolem", Paul said as he was slowly walking around Simeths office, and without waiting for a reply he resumed

"The income has decreased by half recently, and that is something that I do not tolerate, and aside of that, you HAD THE MEMORRY OF AMBASSADOR SAAROK WIPED OUT", he yelled

"AND YOU KNOW FULL WELL THAT I SAID DO NOT MESS WITH HIM OR YOU WILL DISAPPEAR", Paul yelled

Then resumed with a normal voice:

"Due the events I mentioned above, I am increasing my percentage to 80% of your income.", Paul said

"But you can't, the deal was 20 percent not 80, and I was never late with a payment"

Paul motioned for the klingon to twist Simeths arm a bit more.

"I can do whatever I want, I did not become the president of the board by compromises, nor by being soft to those who make mistakes. Be happy that I am letting you live.", Paul said

"Your books will be examined, all income will be counted, all of your files scanned, and should we find that you have tried to, steal, you will disappear.", Mr. Castellan said

"Break his arm", he said to the klingon

And a moment later Drolem was on the floor screaming in pain over his broken arm

"That is for damaging ambassador Saarok, and bringing the rage of S31 upon us should he ever regain his memory. But do know if he remembers what happened, you are done for. The syndicate will neutralize this branch fully, should that occur, and you will be delivered on a silver platter, not to mention that your head will be a fine decoration for our Hirogen associates quarters", Paul said with a laugh

"Oh, and organize a meeting of the department heads, tomorrow at 00:00 in the holodeck 5, the access code is the same as always.", Paul said

"Oh and tell your secretary, to pay me a visit later, I have a job for her", he smiled as his associates removed the sound absorbing field from the door and opened it for him to go out, followed by the 2 klingons and the two of his other associates and his female accomplice, who stayed on the side and remained unnoticeable while he was dealing with Simeth.

As Paul and his escort were moving through the base his female accomplice, who was actually his lover, approached him and they kissed.

"You should have made him suffer more, my dear"; she said to him

"I really should be concerned for your mental health, Leena", he said, "You enjoy other peoples sufferings too much, while for me it is nothing more than business", he resumed

"Oh but you know i can feel love and kindness too", she winked at him

"K'Tor", he called to one of the klingons

"Mr. Castellan"; he responded

"You will represent me at the meeting, I do not wish to reveal my identity to the lowlifes of Simeths branch, i will be observing the meeting over a video link", Paul replied to him

"Yes sir"; the Klingon said as he returned to Pauls side

Slowly the group arrived to the ambassadorial quarters which were assigned to Ambassador Paul Castellan, a special federation delegate. When they arrived to his new quarters he dismissed his company, and the klingon, K'Tor assigned some guards to guard his door while he and the rest of the company that paid a visit to Simeth resumed down the corridor in the direction of their own quarters.

As Paul and Leena entered his quarters, he noticed that his equipment and suitcases were all already delivered. And arrange near the wall. He wondered what the security thought of him having 10 crates of "personal belongings", it would strike his as peculiar if he was a part of the security teams, but it would seem that whoever was in charge did not find that odd. As he told Leena to wait for him in the bedroom, he went over to the crates and open one to check it's contents.

All of the disruptor riffles, seemed to be fine, and they looked ready to be delivered to the buyer. He had arrange to meet the buyer here on SB Assailant as he had some business to take care of with Simeth, and the buyer thought it to be a smart move to change the rendezvous place. He would of course need to reserve a cargo bay, in which the transaction would occur, as his associate was not someone who’d be unnoticed walking around with 10 crates which appeared to be filled with weapons.

Paul was glad that the Romulans from who the riffles were "borrowed" were no longer amongst those who could say anything if SFI ever tracked them. And that Simeth, the idiot, by the time Paul was done with him, there would be nothing left of him but a pile of broken bones. To wipe the memory of ambassador Saarok, the idiot, when S31 finds out what he did, he will wish that he was dead, but he could not allow them to question him should it come to it, he will have Simeth silenced for good.

After he was done checking the crates he closed them and activated the cloaking fields, which prevented standard scanners from scanning inside of the crates, and were standard equipment of federation diplomatic cargo crates. He went back to the bedroom, where he found Leena already waiting for him in bed.

"Ready for some fun", she said in a strangely attractive voice...*imagine*

--Later that day--

Post by Magellan Lin on 13 Jun, 2005, 7:37pm

A new day dawned on Assailant. All over the station the lights went from dim to full light. People woke, dressed and began their business.
Magellan sat quietly in his quarters, his bed was unslept in and he still wore the day befores uniform. Dinas lay curled in his lap snoring softly.
He sat there eyes half closed trying to remember trying to rationalsie what Lenara had told him with what he new to be the truth. But why would she lie to him?
He sighed deeply.
It was impossible how could he have had more hosts. It wasnt unknown, Dax he recalled had a hidden host - a murderer. A murderer - now that thought frightened him.
He wished now he had question Lenara more. But he had been so bowled over by it all that he had just walked off - wanted to be on his own. He would talk to her later, and Dr Mercy, perhaps, if and that was a big if, perhaps it was a medical reason why he couldnt remember.

***

Tedak was already up. He had been for a brisk walk and just comm'd T Val on the Jefferson. She seemed well. D'beren was playing in the next room with the nanny, all was well in the world.
=^=Teeeedak=^=
Tedak looked up reflexivly, it was odd to think of Lily as part of the compute system , but for her part she seemed very... happy. She was certainly very effieicnt, In fact Tedak felt computer resources had improved since her blending.
"Yes Lily"
=^= There is a priority Shien'va message for you=^=
"Thankyou Lily. Patch it through in here maximum encryption"
=^=Understood. Working...=^=
Tedaks screen lit up with the eagle of the Empire. It flickered and was replaced by the image of a stern Romulan Woman.
"Jolan Tru. You honour me Senator" Tedak greeted
The Senator scowled.
"Jolan tru" she hissed begrudgingly "It pains me to speak with you, but I must inform you of the latest Senate decisions"
Tedak nodded knowingful well that many of the Senate disapproved of his progressionist views.
"The Senate" Senator Tovak continued coldly, "HAs decided it is time we welcome or brother Debrune back in to the fold"
Tedak nodded,
"Perhaps Father would be a more correct analogy or uncle."
"Our BROTHER Debrune do not appear to present a risk and we have stood down our fleet. We have despateched Senator Krotak to begin talks. You will help her in any way you can"

TAG TEDAK

"She will arrive tommorrow. Be prepared. Act well in this and you may redeem yourself"

"Our BROTHER Debrune do not appear to present a risk and we have stood down our fleet. We have despateched Senator Krotak to begin talks. You will help her in any way you can"

Tedak was taken aback for a few seconds by the woman's bluntness. "But of course madame senator," he said sweetly, "as long as she does not compromise the security on this station."

"She will arrive tommorrow. Be prepared. Act well in this and you may redeem yourself"

Now, Tedak couldn't help but laugh. "Redeem myself? You've got to be joking madame senator. The senate will never approve my redemption. I have married a Vulcan woman, and adopted a Debrune child. I doubt you are being serious."

He suddenly stopped laughing and he gazed at the woman coldly. "The senator will be received will all courtesy of her status and rank, I will make sure of that, but do not expect me to socialize with her. I will meet with Admiral Paul Drew in a few minutes to see to proper preparations being taken care of. Good day madame senator."

He signed off abruptly and growled. "That..that," he began, enraged.

"What is it Teedak?" Lily asked.

Tedak smiled at how she still pronounced his name. "Oh yes. A senator is coming to visit, no doubt to compromise Debrune relations. As of the moment she gets aboard, keep an eye on her would you dear?" he answered, "she will have the priveleges due her rank but she'll not be allowed access to parts of the station where prospect enemies are not allowed to go."

"Yes Teeedak," Lily replied, "shall I let Mr Drew know that you're on your way to him?"

"Yes please," Tedak replied as he put on a dark red robe. "Tell him I'll meet with him in five minutes."

Five minutes later, Tedak stood waiting before the door of the Drew family, his brown firelizard Nut perched quietly on his shoulder.

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Stuart Mercy on 15 Jun, 2005, 7:07am

~ Finally! ~ Stuart thought. He was enjoying the fact that he was sitting at his desk on what seemed to be a normal day. The last global crisis had kept him busy almost from the start when he first set foot on this station. He hadn't even been able to implement any of his new protocols, like station personnel needing physicals when they have been off station.

Stuart was going through the medical records when his LCARS terminal flashed briefly and then...spoke.

--/\-- Mercy. Stuart Mercy. Is this correct? --/\--

Stuart looked at it in confusion. He didn't see any indication of any incoming transmissions. "Computer! What is the origination of the last transmission?"

The unseemingly familliar voice replied from the terminal.

--/\-- The last transmission originated from me. It is me, Lily. You are Stuart Mercy, correct? The doctor who was trying to help me? --/\--

SStuart could not believe his ears. He hadn't been debriefed on what the status was on Lily, and now she was talking to him through his terminal. "Uh, yes. I am Doctor Stuart Mercy. Yes, I was trying to help you, but I don't think you thought so at the time." Stuart remembered how she had flung him across the room with an electrical charge. "Where are you? How is it that you are talking to me I mean?"

Lily spent the next ten minutes explaining to Stuart what had happened and how she had been integrated into the stations computer systems, and how she was now able to 'talk' to the individuals if and when she so chose. Then she proceeded on why she was asking for him. She wanted to thank him and apollogize for any harm that had come to him. As the station personnel had helped her to stay 'alive', she was glad to now be at their service to help in any way possible, via the computer.

It was quite a story for Stuart to swallow. He was going to have to verify this with one of the Admirals. this brought Stuart back to the matter at hand. the medical files he had on his desk. "Lily! Would you please send a message to Admiral Lin that he is due a check up. If he tries to delay, please remind him that he is the station CO and that he would be setting a precedence for others."

Lily formatted, processed, and then sent the message as Stuart had asked. Of course this mere task only took microseconds for her to complete.

--/\-- Message has been sent. I thank you again for your help and I am here to help when you so require. --/\--

""Yes, Lily. One more thing. Display general medical files on joined Trills. I have a little research to do." Lily complied and Stuart started his research which he needed to do before he saw Adm Lin.
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Paul Drew on 15 Jun, 2005, 11:19am

As was usual for this time in the morning the Drew family quarters were a mess. Young Max was running around the place with the family pet dog Jerry chasing after him, knocking everything over. Tyler had just returned from spending the night at a friends quarters, and had dumped his bag on the sofa, and Tammy had music playing as loud as possible from her bedroom.

There worn out father was standing in front of a holo mirror trying to adjust his uniform and attach his rank insignia, while also dodging Max and Jerry.

Suddenly the place was quiet, until Drew heard his daughter Tammy shouting out, someone had turned off her music, when Drew heard the next voice he smiled.

“My apologises for deactivating your music program,” Lily’s gentle voice said over the rooms speakers, “but I have a message for Admiral Drew.”

“Go ahead Lily,” Drew said, zipping up his jacket.

“Teedak asked me to inform you he is coming to meet you.”

“Thank you Lily,” Drew replied, pinning his comm badge onto his tunic just as the door chime sounded.

“Tammy, make sure Max and Tyler get to school,” Drew called out, as he went to greet Tedak.

“Ambassador, what a surprise,” Drew said, greeting Tedak at the door.

“Surprise?” Tedak repeated confused, “did Lily not inform you of my impending arrival?”

“She did yes,” Drew chuckled, “it’s a human express.”

“If you say so,” Tedak said, “I have some important matters to discuss with you Admiral.”

“Here isn’t the best place,” Drew said, stepping out of his quarters, “walk with me to my office, we can discuss it on route.”

By the time Tedak and Drew arrived at the second level office, Tedak had told Drew all about Senator Tovak planned trip, including his belief it would only cause trouble.

“I’ll have Simon attach a small guard to her,” Drew said, picking up a padd to take notes, “VIP quarters alpha six are free, she can use those.”

“She will likely wish to visit the planet,” Tedak said, “perhaps I should inform Ambassador Laika.”

“That’s a good idea,” Drew said, “she will be able to make arrangements for a meeting with the leadership.”

“Very well, I shall go visit her,” Tedak said, turning to leave the office, “good day Admiral.”

When Tedak was gone, Drew opened up a comm link to Magellan, ever since the incident with Lily his old friend had been under a lot of pressure.

“Good morning,” Drew said, as Magellan’s face appeared on his computer screen, “how are you?”

PS my Bio will be ammended I will now have been born in 2356 lol

IC:

Magellan recieved Lilys comm from Dr Mercy as he was walking up to Ops. He had Lily fill him in on the days activities. Despite his earlier reservations having Lily as part of the computer was definetly an asset.
Lily listed his meetings and the ships due to arrive. One ship piqued his interest, the IRS Khazata one of the (new) Romulan Warbirds.
=^= Do not forget Dr Mercy=^=
"No Lily I won't in fact watch me turn around and head to sickbay."
Magellan did as he said and returned to the turbolift.
5 minutes later he appeared at sickbay. A nurse greeted him and bade him to take a seat.
He waited patiently his mind turning again to his symbiont problem. He probed Lin for the earliest memorys of Toya. Each one began with her implantation. Toya had only been Lins host a short while. She was late in the programme and was joined with Lin in her mid 20's and already a brilliant ecologist, joining for her had been a fulfillment of all her personal and scientific goals. Unfortunatly she had only been joined for 2 years, on one expedition she had been attacked by Trill pirates who had stolen Lin and left her to die. Lin had been recovered and passed on to Magellan. At the time (2377) there was a vast market for symbionts and the black market commanded a high price.
He like Toya had had severe integration issues but had put it down to the particularly nasty death Toya had suffered.
He was stirred from his thoughts by Dr Mercy,
"Admiral good to see you, if you d like to come through and we'll begin"

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Saarok on 15 Jun, 2005, 10:33pm

After being woken up by Lily that morning, Saarok had spent the next couple of hours reading on his mail, which was delayed due to the incident with the nebula. Most of it was not too important, except for an e-mail informing him that he was assigned as deputy director of the diplomatic dept. in Section 47 space. This did not bring new privileges to him but it brought more paperwork.

After he was done reading his messages. He started to write hi report on the recent diplomatic incidents between Tedak and admiral Magellan. Even tough the matter was resolved it needed to be documented for the Federation Councils review.

--Several hours later--

Finishing all of his tasks Saarok put aside his pads and began to prepare himself for deep meditation. He still could not remember anything from his past, and he hoped that by meditating some parts of it would come back.

--Meanwhile in the quarters of ambassador Paul Castellan--

Paul woke up and realized it was already morning. He had slept more that he desired, but what was done was done. He looked over and saw that his lover was still asleep. Good he thought she deserves some rest. He quickly got up and got dressed. He had so much to tend to today, not to mention he had to arrange the meeting place for the meeting later that night.

After he got something to eat and read though his messages, he went out of his quarters where his was met by his two trusted guards and 2 of his "aides".

"We will be tending to some ambassadorial duties today."; he told them

=/\=Computer where is the base CO=/\=

=/\=Admiral Magellan is not available at the moment=/\=, came a reply from Lily

Odd computer they got here, Paul thought.

=/\=However Admiral Drew is available, he should be arriving to his office shortly, follow the arrows on the terminals to get there=/\=, came another reply

Most definitely an odd computer, Paul thought. As he and his group headed towards the office of the admiral. After a shorter walk, as the quarters for VIP personnel were near the offices of the brass, as some called them, the group arrived to the office of Admiral Drew. Paul chimed the door, but no reply came. Just then a human male accompanied by a Romulan and a flying creature arrived to the office door.

"Admiral Drew, I presume", Paul said to the human male wearing the admirals pips

By the time the quarters for the Romulan senator were arranged, Lily informed Tedak that the shuttle carrying the senator was due to arrive in five minutes. The Romulan diplomat frowned, he wasn't exactly looking forward to the meeting and he very much doubted the senator was too.

Soon, T'Val would also arrive for a few days of shoreleave, and that was the one thing Tedak was really looking forward to. He hadn't seen his son for weeks now, and it was about time the child paid a visit to the Debrune. JakDor had been nagging him about the Divine child, and Tedak had assured him that as soon as the child was available he'd pay them a visit.

Quietly, Tedak walked over to the docking bays, his two firelizards engaging in antics above his head. He wasn't inclined to send his faithful pets away just because of a highly placed visitor; she'd just have to accept it.

Minutes later, the shuttly carrying Senator Krotak landed on the pad, and Tedak walked forward, flanked by his nearly ever present security guards - for his protection, Magellan had claimed months ago - giving the woman the traditional Romulan salute. "Jolan tru," he said, "welcome aboard Starbase Assaillant Senator Krotak. I am Ambassador Tedak, if you have need of anything, feel free to ask."

The senator glared at him coldly, and didn't return the greeting, which in itself was rather rude. "Show me to my quarters, I am fatigued," she said.

Tedak shrugged and guided her to a turbolift. "VIP deck please," he said as soon as they stepped in. He got a chuckle as response and the lift started moving. "Your quarters ma'am," Tedak said, entering the quarters with her, "I shall take my leave of you now. If you need me, ask Lily to contact me." He ignored the quizzical look the senator gave him. "Lily is our sentient computer system," Tedak explained, "good day senator." With that, he left her alone.

Stuart had the Admiral take a seat on the edge of one of the biobeds. "If you don't mind Admiral Lin, I need you to lay down for a full exam. I can examine you more in-depth with the biobed scanner than I can with a tricorder."

"Alright Mercy. So much for a regular checkup." Adm Lin rotated his legs and laid back. Stuart activated a button and the clamshell bioscanner lifted itself from both sides of the bed, rising over the Admirals chest.

Stuart activated the scans and continued to monitor the readout displays on the clamshells. "Actually sir, I have to be thorough when anyone returns from off station. We don't need some alien organism coming aboard causing a massive health crisis."

"I understand Doctor. I just hope this won't take too long as I have much to do." Admiral Lin was going through his mind of why he could only recall being of two hosts for his symbiont Lin, and not five.

"Well Admiral, the less I do the more likely you will end up back here with some illness, and the less you'll get done with your regular duties. In essence, the more I do now the more you get to do."

"Yes, I understand." The Admiral cut in. He was thinking how the doctor would have made a good diplomat. He was glad to have him.

"Mh. Your isoboramine levels are low by ten percent. Have you been experiencing fatigue and/or lack of concentration?" Stuart gave Magellan a questionable look.

"Yes, some. Nothing that has been hampering my duties." He was wondering if he should mention his dilemma.

Stuart continued to check over the scans. "I can give you something to return those levels back to normal, but I'll need to see you back here in four days to see if those levels have stabilized themselves. Let me look at one more thing." Stuart activated a couple of buttons and the scanner changed modes. It was now scanning over the Admiral's central nervous system. Stuart could see and verify that the cerebral nuclei of Lin and Magellan were properly linked together. He could not ascertain any problems here that might have caused his levels to be low.

Stuart deactivated the clamshell scanner and allowed the Magellan to get up. He went and prepared a hypospray with the required amount of benzocytazine, 0.05cc's to be exact, and proceeded to administer it. "There you go Admiral. Like I said, I need you back here in 96 hours for a follow up. Of course if your symptoms persist come back right away. I'm done with your physical. You're free to go about your duties, sir."

The Admiral sat there for a brief moment, debating.

"Actually Doctor" Magellan paused at the door.
"Yes Sir?"
Magellan hovered a moment on one foot as if deciding whether to keep moving.
"I might be able to help" Mercy continued,
Magellan nodded and walked back into the room allowing the door to close behind him.
"So how can I help"
"Its all a bit of a puzzle really. I am Lins second Host, the first being Toya, at least thats what I thought. I found out recently that I apparently have more. Well Lin had more."
"I see, don't hosts usually get all the memories of previous hosts."
"Yes and thats it. It can't be true . I only have Toyas...although"
"Although..." Mercy prompted with a wave of his hand,
"Well for the last few months I ve had stray thoughts, images of places I ve never been. Spoken words of languages I ve never learnt little things like that."
"How long has this been happening?"
"Pretty much ever since I assumed command of Assailant"
"Well it could be stress related, it doesnt mean they are lost memories."
"No. no your right. Its just." Magellan paused, "My relationship with Lin has never been good. We didnt integrate well. I got dissociated once and the blend isnt full. In fact we are almost separate in many ways. Look at my firelizard - Dinas. He linked with Lin and not me, that normally shouldnt happen. the host is dominant."
"I m not familiar with Firelizard linking, but I wouldnt be concerned. Symbiosis of any kind is highly complex."
"I suppose. Still its so odd, why cant I remember the other hosts if I have them. The Symbiosis Commission have never mentioned such a thing is possible"
"Well dont be so sure I do know of other cases"
"The Dax thing but surely that was a one off."
"Possibly. Tell you what for now I suggest I have a think and look at your biometrics. Read through case histories, who told you anyway?"
"My old instructor Lenara Kahn"
"Well i ll talk to her too and get back to you."
"Thankyou doctor"

Drew looked spuriously at the five men before him, he didn’t recognise any of them, but one of them was wearing the robes of an Ambassador.

“Yes,” Drew answered to his question, “I am Admiral Drew, and you are?”

“Ambassador Paul Castellan”

“Of course,” Drew said offering his hand, “I remember reading about your arrival in the last subspace updates.”

“Always nice to know Starfleet keeps its officers updated,” Castellan answered, “I was hoping to meet with your Admiral Lin, but your wacky computer told me he was unavailable.”

“You will have to excuse our computer systems,” Drew said with a smile, “it’s recently been merged with a sentient being.”

“How interesting,” Castellan said, “I look forward to hearing the story.”

Drew simply nodded, he couldn’t put his finger on it, but there was something odd about the man, the four escorts alone were unusual.

“Is there anything I can help you with?” Drew asked.

“Actually there is, your computer suggested you as the best person to talk to after Admiral Lin.”

“In that case, why don’t you join me in my office?” Drew said, allowing the door to open.

When they were all seated, and the two Paul’s had there refreshments, Drew looked across at the Ambassador.

“So how can I help?”

"Well, one of the reasons I wanted to meet with the admiral is because I am required to report to the station commander when I arrive. This is so that if he has any assignments for me, he can delegate them to me, and the second one is to inform him or you of what my duties here are.", Paul resumed

"Second reason is I would need to book holodeck 5 for tonight from 2300 hours till 0700 hours. I have some simulations to run for my assignment."; he continued

"This brings us to my assignment. I have orders, which you will find on this pad to unnoticeably oversee the visiting romulan senator and ambassador Tedak, and to, if needed, prevent a diplomatic incident or prevent leaking of classified info to the senator. And seeing that ambassador Saarok has suffered his memory loss they thought that it might have clouded his judgment, seeing as he and Tedak are friends. So that’s why I was sent here.", Paul finished

While waiting for a reply he thought that it was a nice cover story he came up with, and made a note to add an extra reward to his "friend" in the diplomatic corps of the federation.

--Meanwhile in sickbay--

Drolem Simeth had arrived to sickbay a few moments ago and was waiting for Dr. Mercy to arrive. While waiting he was going over his fake story of how he broke his arm. He could not say what had really happened so he came up with a fake story.

When Stuart arrived, Simeth got up from the bio bed and greeted the doctor.

"Dr. Mercy?", he asked the man as he never saw him before

After the initial getting to know each other speech, Simeth told Dr. Mercy what happened.

"I was playing racquetball in the holodeck and I seem to have injured my arm when I fell down", Simeth said

"I am afraid that I might have broken it, as my bounds are a bit weaker then what is normal", he said hopping that Stuart would take his word for it and not cause problems for him

“I see,” Drew said reviewing the Ambassador’s padd, everything seemed to be in perfect order, but he still had a nudging feeling something was a bit odd about this man, he just couldn’t put his finger on it.

“My assignment details were to Assailant last week,” Ambassador Castellan said, clearly anxious to be getting on with his duties.

“Indeed they were,” Drew said, calling up the files on his computer, “you may use the staff holodecks this evening for your assignment Ambassador.”

“Thank you Admiral,” Castellan, bowing slightly, and then leaving the office.

When the Ambassador was gone, Drew pulled up the DCS’s duty rosters, and did a quick read through Castellan’s personal file, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.

“I must just be getting old,” Drew thought to himself, turning his attention back to the arrangements for the Romulan senator’s arrival.

Stuart was concerned for Admiral Lin. He would have to check with Dr. Kahn, Adm Lin's friend, but he was sure that there would possibly be only one solution...Adm Lin would have to eventually return to Trillius Prime.

While Stuart was going over Adm Drew's medical records, for he was next for his physical, nurse Tsomba came in letting him know that he had a patient waiting.

"I am afraid that I might have broken it, as my bounds are a bit weaker then what is normal", he said hopping that Stuart would take his word for it and not cause problems for him.

"I see. Well let me take a look then." Stuart pulled out his tricorder and performed the required scans of Mr. Simeth. Stuart found his telling of his injury a bit odd as he seemed a bit more concerned over the believability of it than the actual pain it should be causing him.

Stuart had learned a long time ago on how to gauge a persons comments and responses of an iquirery to their injuries. Their body language and facial expressions a lot of times told more than their words themselves. He had seen to many domestic abuse cases as an EMT, back in San Francisco.

The tricorder had confirmed his suspicions. The bone was broken alright, but there was just too much bruising and severe trauma associated for it to be a sports injury. Normally it would just consist of a clean break. Stuart knew this as he himself had played a lot of soccer.

"Yup, you're right. A clean break." Stuart lied. "So you play racquetteball. I like soccer myself. I was thinking about getting a team together here on the station. Maybe we could play the various members of the fleet ships, or the storeowners or something. What do you think?"

Stuart went and got an osteo regenerator to help promote the stimulation of the bone growth. This would help it heal within days istead of the normal weeks it would take for the body to do it on its own accord.

Drolem answered in reference to a soccer team. "A soccer team, hm. That does sound like a great avenue to bring the people together here on this station. I, myself, would think that I will stick with racquetteball. Then again, I guess if I keep breaking my bones like this I might have to give that up too."

Stuart was done with the treatment. He placed the arm in an osteo tarctor frame, to help keep it immobile. "Now keep this on for the next 24 hours to prevent causing any more harm while it's healing. It'll be another 24 hours for your arm to be completely back the way it was."

Drolem got up happy that the doctor didn't inquire any more about his injury. "Thanks doctor. I'll be on my way then. Good luck with that soccer team." Drolem strode out of the infirmary happy as could be.

Stuart returned to his office with his worries. He knew he didn't have access to any of the security logs, to verify if Drolem Simeth was really playing raquetteball when he said he was. "Lily! Who's our chief of security?"
_/\_ Chief of Security is LtCmdr Simon Tomlinson _/\_

Stuart remembered the name, slightly. Then he had it, he was on Qualinost with the rest of the team. Stuart knew right away he would be the right person to handle this. "Thank you Lily. Would you please send him a message that I need to see him at his earliest possible convenience. It may be a security matter of the utmost of importance." _/\_ Message sent, Dr. Mercy. _/\_

"Thank you, lily. One more thing. Send Adm Drew a message of his requirement to be here for his physical. Remind him that he was off-station before the Qualinost radiation crisis. Thank you."

_/\_ Message sent. _/\_ Stuart was satisfied. He was happy with his job here. There always seemed something to be going on and he knew this would be an exciting career.

Sometimes it amazed Drew how much paperwork he had to deal with, since arriving in his office less than an hour ago, the once tidy desk was now filled with various padds each containing some exciting task that had to be completed next. And then there was the work that needed to be done out of the office, he needed to go down and welcome the Senator to SBA, as well as completing a shift up at Ops.

“Admiral Drew,” came Lily’s voice over the comm systems, “Dr. Mercy wishes to remind you that you are required to report for a physical.”

“Damn Doctors,” Drew cursed as he put down his padd, as far as he was concerned, Starfleet Medical Officers enjoyed forcing people into physicals far too much.

“Tell the Doctor I am on my way,” Drew told Lily, packing a few padds up into his silver brief case.

As he walked down to sickbay, Drew passed a lot of officers rushing the other one, clearly late for their duty shifts. With the recent commotion on SBA, everyone was still a little behind in their daily tasks. He was surprised to see that sickbay was almost deserted, he had gotten so used to seeing it busy recently.

“Dr. Mercy,” he called as he walked into the centre of the medical ward, “you wanted to see me?”

After exiting from the office of Admiral Drew, Paul was met by his aides right away. They have been waiting for him to come out right outside of the office.

"Everything in order, sir?", K'Tor asked

"Yes, everything is going as planned, the orders from DCS were perfect and the admiral did not suspect anything. I have booked the Holodeck for tonight.", Paul said

"I am going to my quarters now to send out few messages, and then I’ll go and sort out the most isolated cargo bay for the exchange. And at 2300 hours we will go and tweak the holodeck program for the meeting.", he finished as the group was slowly making way towards the VIP quarters

When they arrived to the door, Paul gave out a few short instructions to K'Tor before he went inside. After he went inside his quarters he saw that Leena had woken up and was already having breakfast.

"Enjoying your meal", he asked her as he made way to the part of the quarters that was used as an office for the visiting staff.

"Yes, as always", she smiled, "You have work to do?", she asked

"Yes a few message to send out nothing extra, then I have a meeting to arrange, you can if you so desire go and explore the station or stay in or go with me whatever you desire the most.", he said

As he sat down behind the computer, he turned it on and entered his access codes. After that he began to type a short message, which to someone who did not know what he was talking about wouldn't mean anything, and would not cause suspicion should someone, who isn't supposed to, read it. The message read, *I still love you as much as before. Signed C.D.C.*. He entered some coordinates and then sent the message.

=/\=Message sent=/\= the computer replied to him

After that was done, he sent out a few more messages confirming a few different meetings, each one encoded and not suspicious.

--Meanwhile in the office of Drolem Simeth--

Drolem Simeth had just arrived back from the doctor, in a not so bright mood. He had a feeling that the new doctor did not buy his story completely but then he was 90% sure that the doctor want divert too much attention to the matter as he had more important things to worry about.

After he arrived to his office he told his secretary a Betazoid female called Victoria, that ambassador Castellan has some papers for him and that she needs to go and pick them up some time during the day. After that he dismissed her and sat behind his computer. If he thinks he will get away with this he is wrong, Simeth thought. I will get back to him someway, he will pay for this.

=/\=Computer, authorization code alpha 567 Simeth, access protocol homecoming=/\=

=/\=Affirmative, code accepted, protocol activated, message archives will be purged after the communications protocol is closed, please input your transmission=/\=

=/\=Tonight at 0000 hours in holodeck 5. The head is here. Transmit=/\=

=/\=Message sent to all who are connected to protocol homecoming, closing protocol, purging message received and sent archives=/\=

=/\=Processing......=/\=

While he was waiting for the protocol he was forming up a plan in his head, he had to get rid of Castellan before it was too late, he knew it was dangerous but then if he didn’t do anything he would be done for and there’s a risk of the same things happening if he does something so either way he’s got nothing to lose by trying.

=/\=Purging complete, protocol closed=/\=

After the was done he remained seated in his chair for a while longer thinking about what he was going to do next.

"Ah yes, Admiral Drew. I appreciate your promptness. I know how rank can sometimes cloud an officers judgement on the importance of their own health. Yet, I assure you, that it also means the health and well-being of those around them is affected as well. So again I want to thank you for coming by so quickly."

"I understand your concerns doctor, but I do have a lot of work to do." Adm Drew was trying to get this done as quickly as possible when Stuart replied. "As do I, Admiral."

Stuart had the Admirals medical file infront of him and started to ask a few questions. "I see that you have quite a medical history here. Prisoner in a Cardassian POW camp, where you were tortured. Imprisoned another time by a counterpart of yourself. I'm sure there were psychological effects knowing that this counterpart was taking your place with your family."

Adm Drew interupted. "Doctor Mercy. I have had extensive counselling sessions and continue to do so as needed, and I am to this day still dealing with the trauma I have experienced. I thought I was here for a physical and not another psyche eval!"

"Yes Admiral. I was merely getting to my questioning of whether you are experienceing any physical trauma, such as headaches or possibly not feeling parts of your extremeties due to some deteriating nerve damage, etc." Stuart responded with the same sterness as the Admiral had shown.

Admiral Drew lightened up a little after understanding the questioning. "Well, I guess I could use something that could help me sleep a little better after a very stressful day. I tend to not get much sleep as my mind tends to wander through the ordeals I have encountered. As far as extremeties going numb, I can't say. I have had some tingeling, but I guesss your scans would be able to tell more."

"Alright then. Hop onto that biobed and let me do my thing...sir." Stuart added the belated 'sir' kindly, to let the Admiral know that he was showing his respect of the officer he had before him. Stuart let the biobed perform its tests and scans. "You know, since you have literally been gone for a long while, this will establish a nice new medical baseline of you. Providing that we find nothing." The scans were finally complete after ten long minutes, and Stuart and the Admiral had nothing to worry about. "You seem to be in excellent health. I'm going to guess that some of that tingeling you are experienceing is stress related. Here. I am giving you a vial of a mild sedative for sleep when needed. Take this hypospray along with it. It is already set for the correct dosage, so just fill and administer to self."

Adm Drew was glad to hear that he seemed to be in good health. "Thank you Doctor Mercy." He took the hypospary and medicine vial and was out the door as fast as he had come in.

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Q2 / Simon Tomlinson on 22 Jun, 2005, 12:52pm

Tomlinson yawned quietly as he rolled out of bed. Moving woodenly over to his computer, he tapped it, his throat feeling too dry to speak. As soon as he had tapped it, the computer started reading out loud.

“ - Received: 7 Messages. Message from Admiral Drew, message from Station Security, message from Ayiana, message from Dr Mercy, message from shopper’s guild, message from Lieutenant Llyanda, message from Tammy Drew, message from Drolem Simeth.”

The security chief frowned. There were a few expected messages in there, and a few that he certainly was not expecting. He instructed the computer to first read out the messages from Admiral Drew, Dr Mercy and Lt Llyanda, those being the ones that sounded the most important. As it turned out, Drew was simply requesting that he form a security guard team for the romulan ambassador, and Dr Mercy was alerting him to an injury that Simeth had sustained, an injury that he believed suspicious. Lt LLyanda on the other hand was informing him that they had received the two new fighters they had been waiting for. Tomlinson smiled, and then moved onto the message from Station Security, which, as he had expected was simply telling him that his security archives had been accessed. After checking it was an authorised access, he deleted the message, and moved onto the last three.

Ayiana, his girlfriend of a few years, had left him nothing more complex than a loving message home, telling him how she was doing on her botanical tour of Bajor. From there, unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. Tammy was requesting an audience with him, something that Tomlinson knew wouldn’t be particularly good for his relationship with Ayiana. He sent a short and polite, but negative reply back to her, explaining that he was a busy man. He suspected she would try again, but he would deal with that when it came up.

The last message certainly eclipsed all the others in it’s crypticism.

“Watch. The dead can still be painful. Do not fall in.” Tomlinson frowned, and moved over to read the message himself, rather than trust the computer’s voice. Unfortunately, it did not become any clearer, and he was forced to let it go, although he made a note to talk to the Mayor about it later, something he already had planned to do, after the message from Dr Mercy.

After the security chief had showered, he was making his way towards ops when his comm. Badge chirped. With a sigh, he tapped it.

=/\= Tomlinson, go ahead. =/\=

=/\= Sir, we have a problem at airlock 3, and request your presence. =/\=

=/\= On my way. =/\=

A few minutes later, the security chief arrived at airlock 3. He soon located the guard who had contacted him.

“What seems to be the problem Ensign?”

“Ermm, he is sir.” The guard indicated a romulan standing a few metres away. Tomlinson looked over at him. At first, he had not noticed the Starfleet uniform the officer was wearing, but now it became extremely evident. Slowly, Simon approached him.

“Name, Rank and Number?” He asked tentatively.

The romulan looked put out, but replied anyway. “Vreenak, Captain, Alpha-3-6-4-8-Gamma-3.”

Tomlinson raised his eyebrows, but nevertheless looked in his archives. A few seconds later the PADD found the record. He tapped his commbadge.

=/\= Admiral Drew or Admiral Magellan to airlock 3. We have… someone you know here. =/\=

Tedak led Krotak to the Diplomatic level and showed her to her quarters.
"These are my quarters" Krotak said her voice dripping with disdain as the doors opened, "I suppose they will do. Bral get my things"
Her servant a diminutive romulan girl ran off immediatly on the errand.
Krotak waltzed about the room checking the sofa and replicator.
"Come in. Sit" she commanded,
"Thankyou" Tedak replied taking a seat in an armchair.
"You will thank me. In the end. You arent the Senates favourite person are you." it was a rhetorical question and Tedak remained silent.
Krotak continued,
"Many believe you have gone native. That you are one of the followers of Spocks burgeoning Reunification Party. I assure you I am not of your ilk. I voted for the war against the Federation as did our new Praetor. I noticed you abstained, a cowardly act. Especially when the evidence of Captain Siskos deception was so apparent."
"Those things are past now" Tedak noted carefully,
"Indeed they are. The war short as it was is over and relations with the federation are once more cordial."
Krotak stopped her pacing and then sat.
"Then you take a Vulcan wife. A vulcan. WNeverere our females not good enough or were you foolish enough to marry for love."

<Tag Tedak >

"Neverthless it weakens you. It brought you here. You ever hear of Nimbus III, the planet of peace" she spat the word peace as if it were poison. "This place is your Nimbus III. A place of seclusion, somewhere backward where the Senate could put you out to pasture. A place where you could play at politics with your Vulcan friend Saarok."

<Tag Tedak>

"Silent. I have yet to finish. The Senate thought you would waste away here to retirement but then the Debrune re-emerge. Our lost brethren. Suddenly you are on one of the most important Starbases in the quadrant. You still have your friends else you would have been replaced immediatly. This is your chance to increase your number of friends. Act well for me and your standing will increase, they may even forgive you your transgressions."
"I see and what is it you want of me?" Tedak asked warily,
"Only you assistance. I will be meeting Jak'dor in a day or two. To assess if we can begin diplomatic relations. The Debrune were an advanced race long before us, they have untold knowledge and technology. We know they are few in number, that they are split in to two factions. If Jak'dor is unwilling to deal we will not be able to force the issue given Starfleets presence in the sector. Therefore I want you to find the other faction. Find them so I can make them an offer they can't refuse. An offer that will make the Empire strong oncemore.

Vreenak tilted his head in a slight nod,
"Not as dead as it was reported."

Having finished sending all the messages he had, Paul got out of his chair in which he was sitting while he was sending the messages and went over to Leena, he kissed her.

"So what have you decided, what will you be doing?", he asked her

"I am going to accompany you. You know I like to see you work"; she said as she kissed him back

"If that is what you want"; he replied, "Are you ready then we are going out", he added

"I was born ready", she added with a smile as she joined Paul and the two went out of his quarters

"Is it sorted out"; he asked K'Tor who was already waiting for him outside

"It is sorted, I have called in a favor from the Binars, and Simeths computer system is being monitored as we speak"

"Good, I want one man monitoring it at all times", Paul said

"It has been arranged", the klingon replied

"Good, good, we are now heading down to the warehouses to secure the meeting point", he added as he and his group, minus one man who was monitoring Drolems computer, proceeded towards the commerce level

After a longer travel, as the warehouses were located in a distant part of the base far from the VIP level, the group arrived at their destination. When they arrived at the commerce level they saw several officers who were moving some cargo around, one of them, who appeared to be in charge approached them as soon as they arrived.

"This is a restricted area for authorized personnel only"; the man said pointing towards the way from which they came

"I am Ambassador Paul Castellan, and I am looking for some cargo space", Paul said to the man who immediately changed his attitude

"Of course, sorry ambassador, I did not recognize you right away. How much space do you require?", the man asked

"Not much, i need one of your smaller warehouses, one of those which you rent out for the bar owners and store owners on the upper levels.", Paul said

"Of course, you can have warehouse nr. 6739."; the man said entering some info on a pad

"I need your fingerprint here"; the man said handing him a pad

When Paul pressed his finger on the pad, the man who was in charge of the warehouses gave him the access code and directed him towards the warehouse. After a shorter walk the group arrived to the designated location. After entering the code they went inside the warehouse. Perfect, Paul thought.

"Set up the dampening fields to make it appear as the warehouse is empty."; Paul said

"Yes sir", K'Tor and one of the computer experts Paul always had with him went to set up the fields

While they were doing that, Paul contacted the transporter room and told them what he wanted transported to the commerce level. He did not have it transported inside the warehouse but rather to the cargo transporter room which was located on this level.

"Sir, the fields are set up", K'Tor informed him

"Good, time to go and pick up the crates", Paul said as the group went out of the warehouse and towards the cargo transporter

--Meanwhile in Simeths office--

After Simeth finished sending out the messages he spent the next hour coming up with a plan to resolve the problem with Paul, and he got it, it was so simple, and it was sure to work. It will take him a bit of time to organize it all though, but when he was done, he would not need to give a percentage of his income, and others will need to give a percent to him. He laughed at how brilliant his plan was.

He got up from his chair and went out of his office; he had the regular meet the civilians’ lunch that he organized every week, to attend. When he went out he was happy, his mood has improved drastically and he was admiring his own intellect.

"Soon it will all be over", he said to himself as he was walking towards the "promenade"
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Stuart Mercy on 23 Jun, 2005, 8:10am

Stuart had just stepped out of his sonic shower, looking forward to this brand new day. He knew that he still had a few physicals to perform, but they would have to wait.

Stuart put on a fresh uniform, had some breakfast, and then proceeded to check his terminal for messages. He was put back a little that Cmdr Tomlinson hadn't responded yet to his message.

"Lily."

_/\_ Yes, Dr. Mercy. _/\_

"Has Cmdr Tomlinson received my message from yesterday?"

_/\_ Cmdr Tomlinson has received, accessed, and deleted your message. _/\_

This really perturbed Stuart. He didn't like having to deal with injuries of unknown origins, especially when people lied about them. Not wanting to waste any more time on this, Stuart was going to have to find out what he could himself.

"Lily, please notify Jill, Nurse Tsomba that is, that I will be in a little later. Also forward the latest injury file of Drolem Simeth to PADD Alpha One Nine. Thank you."

_/\_ Message sent. File has been transferred. _/\_

Stuart used the LCARS system to familiarize himself with the locations of the various sports complexes and holosuites before departing his quarters.

Most rec facilities were located in the Habitat levels, with the exception of the ones for Starfleet personnel. Being a civilian, Drolem Simeth had no access to those even if he was the mayor.

Stuart came up empty at all of the holosuites. After checking the various sports complexes where raquetteball could have been played at, Stuart still had no confirmation that Mr. Simeth had been playing anything at all the previous day. Infact, he had learned a quite bit more about the character of Drolem Simeth. The most conclusive piece of evidence (if you could call it that) was from a Ferengi when he said, "Drolem play raquetteball? I would pay ten latinum bars to see that. Come now, he is a Risan. They are into rest and relaxation and some very mundane water sports."

Stuart had finally checked the last facility available, satisfied that his hunch had been correct. There was no evidence of Drolem playing any raquetteball yesterday, or any day within the recent past. Stuart's stomach was grumbling for time had just gone past noon, and he needed to eat. This gave him an idea.

Stuart tapped his communicator badge.

=/\= Cmdr Tomlinson. This is Dr. Mercy. I'm on my way to the Fishtank. Would you please be so kind and join me for some lunch? =/\=

Stuart knew this would catch him off guard, but he was sure that even this security officer needed to eat. Besides, it would make for a relaxed atmosphere for Stuart to possibly make a friend.

<Simon>

=/\= Thank you Commander. See you in ten. =/\=

Stuart knew Tomlinson wasn't very happy to see him, but at least he was willing to meet at the fishtank for lunch.

Ten minutes had gone by and together, the Doctor and the Commander, they were seated at a table for two. Lunch was already ordered.

"Commander, if I may say so, I think your security teams did an excellent job on Qualinost, keeping the crowds from over running the treatment tents." Stuart tried a little flattery, although he wasn't lying for without the security support his medical teams would not have been able to have performed at the level they did.

<Simon>

"Straight to the point then, and Simon it is. I'm Stuart by the way."

Lunch had arrived and Stuart had proceeded to show Simon his findings. He reached over the Padd he had along, showing and explaining the medical trauma associated with the injury and what should and should not be present. He also explained how he was doing some detective work this morning, verifying his assertion that the Mayor was lying about how he got his injury.

"To summarize, the Mayor has an injury that is inconsistent with injuries related to the sport of raquetteball, and more consistent with externally caused severe trauma. In other words, I think his arm was broken on purpose by someone and since he is the mayor, I would think this would be of interest to you. What do you think?"

Tedak turned to the senator. "Please excuse me, I have to pick up my son. We will continue this later."

In a hurry, Tedak left the senator's quarters, but not before he warned Saarok. "Saarok, meet me at shuttle bay three," he called, "there is something I need you to know."

When he reached the designated area, Saarok was already waiting for him. "Watch Senator Krotak," Tedak warned, "I have a bad feeling about her."

Just at that moment, T'Shan came walking out of the shuttle, carrying D'Beren. As soon as the child saw him, he giggled and stuck out his hands towards the Romulan. Tedak happily took him from the Vulcan nanny and hugged him close.

"Da!" the child giggled, and Tedak's jaw dropped at hearing it. "Did you hear that?" he exclaimed, laughing as he turned towards Saarok, "he just called me dad!" He hugged the boy again. "Oh how I've been waiting to hear this!"

Shortly after receiving a message from Tedak, Saarok arrived at the shuttlebay. After a short conversation with Tedak about the visiting Romulan senator, Saarok pointed out that he will ensure that an eye is kept on her.

"It is logical for a child at this age to attempt and more or less successfully calls it parents", Saarok answered

"If you would excuse me for now, I have to arrange some things for your guest", Saarok said as he excused himself and went back to the embassy to arrange for someone to keep an eye on the Romulan senator

--Meanwhile on the commerce level--

Paul, K'Tor and his associates were approaching the cargo transporter where the crates, which were previously stored in Pauls quarters, were waiting on the pad. Slowly, K'Tor, Paul and another man carried the crates over to the warehouse, and after checking them they closed them and locked everything down.

"In about 2 hours, the buyer will arrive, you will handle the deal"; Paul told K’Tor

"Yes sir"; the klingon replied

"And now..."

=/\=Johnson to Ambassador Castellan=/\=

=/\=Castellan here, go ahead, any news on Simeths computer?=/\=

=/\=No sir, but you have a message from Ambassador Saarok, he is informing you that the visiting Romulan Senator is planning something and it looks like trouble, he needs you to keep an eye on her=/\=

=/\=Oh well, I guess that’s what I get when I use that as my cover for being here, Castellan out=/\=

"Ok, a small change of plans, I will need to check out this Romulan Senator, have some extra men board the base, i need 3 more people, you will take one and go to the meeting with the buyer in 2 hours, and ill take those two and go check out the romulan senator, and Leena will take him, he said pointing to the computer guy who was standing near by, and begin preparing the holodeck program for the meeting.", Paul said

"Yes, sir", K'Tor replied as he opened a channel with the ship

After he was done, the group went of the commerce level towards the VIP level where they would regroup and proceed to the assignments which Paul assigned to everyone.

--Meanwhile--

Simeth was just explaining to the gathered civilians how he broke his arm in a heroic rescue attempt when one of the holodecks malfunctioned and the safety measures went offline. And they were all clapping, and agreeing that their mayor was one brave man.

After the initial bragging, Simeth sat down, and the civilians who were gathered there began telling him their problems and concerns. Most of which were complaints about the malfunctioning replicator and some problems with heating which wasn’t adjusted correctly.

After the meeting in his quarters, all of the teams Paul formed went of to do their job. He, accompanied by two security officers, went over to the quarters of the Romulan senator which were not far from his, which was also located on the VIP level. After he arrived to the door of her office, he chimed the bell and a few moments later he heard her say, "enter"

"Senator", he said when he went inside accompanied by his officers, "I am Ambassador Paul Castellan"; he introduced himself while waiting to get an answer from her

<Tag Romulan Senator>

--Meanwhile with K'Tor--

K'Tor and the security officer were preparing for the weapons exchange which was supposed to take place in the warehouse. It was a pretty routine thing and K'Tor did not expect any problems. As the time of the meeting was getting closer, he and the officer were heading down to the docking bay are to meet the buyer, a Ferengi who traded in "fruits and vegetables". K'Tor despised the man however he always kept business and personal feelings separated even tough he was a klingon.

--Meanwhile in a holodeck--

Leena and the computer expert were tweaking the program for the meeting that night. It was going to be a simple board room, with a few surprises in case security appears unexpectedly. When the program was deactivated, it will appear as all the people who are inside are holodeck characters except K'Tor, whose appearance will then be masked to make him look like Paul. So this way if any security officer stops by he will not see anything unusual.

Actually all of the work was being done by the computer expert and Leena was relaxing in a holographic chair beside the pool. As they were preparing the program from inside another one called "summer resort".

--Meanwhile with Drolem Simeth--

After finishing his weekly meeting with the civilians of the Starbase, Drolem began to put his plot to get rid of Paul Castellan in action. He sneaked over to the VIP level, where the VIPs quarters were located and went over to the door of the quarters of Ambassador Paul Castellan. No guards, Drolem thought, how careless of him. He slowly pulled out some tools and opened up the panel of the cabin door. He changed placed of a few isolinear chips and a few moments later the door sprung open.

When he went in he saw that there was no one inside. He went over to the computer Paul used and accessed it, again using a few tricks he accessed the sent messages history archives. He went over the messages, and found one that looked odd to him it was sent to a set of coordinates which he wrote down on a pad he had with him.

He closed everything down and removed any evidence that might show that he was ever there. H returned the isolinear chips to their right places and closed the panel next to the door. He checked the door they were locked. And as quietly as he crept up he went down from the VIP level to the quarters of his secretary. He knew that they were monitoring his computer and could not use it for the time being.

After the initial surprise of Drolem showing up at her quarters passed, his secretary gave him permission to use her computer. After some tweaking he gained access to the federations sensor array history and found out what ship was at the coordinates where Paul sent a message, after seeing it was a Ferengi vessel and that the Ferengi would be arriving to the station, he sent an anonymous message to station security which they would receive 5 minutes before the Ferengi leaves the station.

The message was sent to Simon Tomlinson and it said:

"The fruit is not only what it appears to be. The Ferengi fruit trader on the ship Kraywis, you might find some interesting new sorts of fruit.", and it was signed "A friend"

After that was done he covered his tracks and went back to his office to do something on his computer so that they would not become suspicious why he is not using his computer.

Joint Post by Magellan and Saarok

Senator Krotaks eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the mention of the childs name. She of course knew all about the debrune child Tedak and T Val had adopted but she had thought the child would be absent. This was going to be easier than she thought.
“Excuse me Ambassador, whilst you meet your child I will return to my quarters, remember my request and remember where your loyalties lie.”
Tedak barely heard as he left the room. Krotak followed, Drak her bodyguard falling into step behind her.

Back in her quarters Krotak immediately scrambled a call to Admiral Vavar.
“You can call of your commandos. A raid on the Jefferson will no longer be required. Providence has landed in our lap. Have your team reroute to the Qualinost system as a stand by. I m sure Mr Tedak will do as hes told and our… persuasion techniques will not be required.”
“Understood Savar Out”
Krotak took a seat and began to run through the legions of plots in her mind. Then the door chime went.

Krotak rose and crossed to the door. Bral was still unpacking. Drak her bodyguard shifted uneasily in the background. "Yes who is it?"
"Ambassador Paul Castellan, representing the United Federation of Planets", Paul said while shfting his weight from one foot to the other, he never really liked Romulans they tended to spy on everyone and that he did not appreciate, especially if he is working with them
"Castellan? I believed Saarok was stationed here. Hes not been transfered?" Krotak asked ushering the Ambasador in and offering him a drink.

"First of all i would like to welcome you here in the name of the United Federation of Planets and let you know that i am here to assist you in any way i can. Secondly ambassador Saarok is still stationed here however he has some, pressing matters he needs to tend to. So the Federation has sent me to take his place in this.", Paul said while he sat down on the sofa, and accepted the drink that the senator was offering him

The mention of pressing matters that obviously Saarok couldnt handle alone was not lost on Krotak. Perhaps Saarok wasnt even involved. This could be an interesting sideline. "So Ambassador where are you normally stationed?"

"I do not have a place where i am usually stationed, i spend most of my time on a ship travelling where they need my assistance", Paul replied not expecting such a question, per se he could not reveal where exactly he was stationed as it could cause unwanted problems

Interesting Krotak thought, that would make it harder for the Tal Shiar to get information. It also raised a red flag. An ambassador on a ship on his own meant own of two things, Covert Federation operations or Covert personal operations. "What exactly is your concern on Assailant I was led to believe things here were pretty quiet" She fished clumsily

"Well i have already mentioned that i was sent here to aide ambassador Saarok as he has other pressing issues to tend to and an important visitor, like yourself, is important for the Federation - Romulan relations so i was sent here because of that. Now I understand you already met with ambassador Tedak, i hope that went without many problems?", he asked being slightly annoyed by the Romulan always going on why he is there, she was probably looking for info on which her spies can catch on and investigate his background

"Oh no. Tedak is a loyal subject He will no doubt be an asset in our negotiations with with the Debrune." She realised that Castellan had turned the tables and she didnt like it. Now he was asking the questions. Annoyed she d lost the iniative she decided it was time to end the round. "Well thankyou for coming around. Perhaps we could meet again at another time, one not so late in the evening. I m afraid a must rest before tomorrows meetings."

Hmm, intresting. Paul thought she wants to get rid of him all of a sudden. It would appear that ambassador Saarok was right afterall. He would need to keep an eye on her.

"It was a pleasure meeting you senator", he said, "If you need anything at all, feel free to contact me and i will try to arrange it for you"; he finished

“I will and thankyou for coming around. Good night.”
Castellan left and Krotak retired to her console to begin her search for information.

Post by Paul Drew on 28 Jun, 2005, 2:14pm

Up on Ops the alpha shift had just started, Drew walked out onto the deck to find it a buzz with activity. He glanced at the night shift log handed to him by an Ensign, nothing eventful had happened, the most exciting thing was a class two comet passing through the system.

He took a seat at his own station, which displayed detailed information on the current status of the base, as well as of all ships currently docked at SBA. As usual he had a list of repair and supply requests as long as his arm to get through. There was also the matter of having to complete an inspection of the newly repaired Copenhagen later today, to ensure that everything had been completed to Starfleet’s standard.

He was just in the process of arranging such a tour when his own comm badge chirped, calling Magellan or him down to airlock three, where a shuttle had just docked.

Picking up his duty padd, he headed for the turbolift, instructing it to take him to airlock three. Arriving at the scene, he wasn’t surprised to see that Magellan was already there, but what did surprise him was the person standing next to Magellan.

“Vreenak?” he asked, shock in his voice, “how is this possible?”

Post by Jatira Laika on 29 Jun, 2005, 2:29am

"So, a Romulan senator is coming to open negotiations?" Jatira said, carefully reading the message.

"It does sound unusual to say the least," Sala, her aide agreed. "But the Debrune are distant cousins of the Romulans. Perhaps it is not all the strange after all."

"Perhaps," she said thoughtfully. "But then...they sound almost too eager...perhaps," she brushed the thought aside. She needed the get the Debrune leader Jak'Dor on the comm. pic to let him know what was going on.

"Sala, if you would please retrieve some PADDs so that we can have a report made up for Admiral Magellan," she pointed in the other office. Sala nodded and went to get the items.

Jatira turned to her small desk screen and contacted Jak'Dor. He was on almost immediately and he did not seem to pleased to see her.

"What is it?" he said. He still had the look of distrust that he had last they spoke. True, Jatira was young, but not as young as Jak'Dor believed her to be and certainly not as inexperienced. Somehow she was going to overcome that belief.

"We've just received word that a Romulan senator will be arriving at the station within a few days..."

"Why?"

"They what to express their willingness to open normal relations between your people and their government."

Jak'Dor paused for a moment and thought this over. He did not seem convinced. "The Romulans have known about us for a long time and they never truly sought such a thing before. How do we know that they are telling the truth?"

"We can't know that for certain," she answered, "but I do know that we won't figure out their true intentions, if they are lying, if you do not come."

"Hmm...I will consider it... Jak'Dor out," he said suddenly and cut the channel.

"Well that went better than I had expected," Sala said looking up from her notes.

"Yes, but we haven't a definite answer of whether or not he's coming," Jatira sighed. "We have to wait now."

***

Three hours later Jak'Dor's answer came back in. "I will consent one one condition."

"Yes?"

"That the Divine child be permitted to visit our people so that we may see him again," he answered.

"That decision is beyond my authority," she replied, concerned that he might cancel the meeting. She started to say more before she was interrupted.

"Probably so, since you are only a child compared to my officials," he glared. "But I will consent to meet with this Romulan and I will decide whether or not they are lying or speaking the truth. I will be arriving today and I expect everything to be ready by then."

"Of course, Minister," she smiled. "Everything will be in order for your arrival."

"Very well..." he cut the transmission.

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Q2 / Simon Tomlinson on 29 Jun, 2005, 2:52pm

As both Admiral Magellan, and Admiral Drew had arrived, Simon excused himself to go speak to the doctor.

"Commander, if I may say so, I think your security teams did an excellent job on Qualinost, keeping the crowds from over running the treatment tents." Stuart tried a little flattery, although he wasn't lying for without the security support his medical teams would not have been able to have performed at the level they did.

"I prefer Simon. It was a simple mission, there was little difficulty to it. I'm a busy man doctor..."

"I think doctor that there are many on a starbase such as this, that do not reveal fully what and who they are. I think that there are some things that are best ignored, and some things that should be followed through properly. I think that accusations against the mayor are strong accusations indeed, and that maybe you should gather more information before coming to me again. I think that you will come to me again."

And with that, the security chief stood up, and left.

--- Airlock 3 ---

"Oh my... by the pools. This isnt possible, your...your dead."
Vreenak tilted his head in a slight nod,
"Not as dead as it was reported." He was about to continue, to talk to his old friend, when around the corner, another appeared.

“Vreenak?” Admiral Drew asked, shock in his voice, “how is this possible?”

Vreenak gave a mockingly low bow. "I have returned. Death was... not all it was made out to be. And somewhat, less... final, than I was expecting."

The two admirals looked at each other in confusion.

"So you did die?" Drew asked, vocalising the question that both were thinking.

"Oh yes my dear Admiral. Quite completely. In fact, I hear there was nothing left of me larger than a fingernail. I do hope I had a good funeral. Maybe, Maybe I shall watch the holovids that must be available..."

Again the pair before him exchanged glances, and this time Admiral Magellan spoke for them.

"You there will have to be tests, to confirm..."

"That I am indeed Captain Vreenak. Of course, it is to be expected. I have already undergone more tests in the past few weeks than in most of the rest of my life. Although, Dr Irae did seem to like prodding me. I think, maybe she had a soft spot for me you know."

Magellan looked at Vreenak, it looked like Vreenak, sounded like him, and stranger things had happened. Nevertheless it never hurt to play it safe.
"You must understand the shock. That funeral you speak of, we were both there" Magellan explained gesturing between him and Drew. He turned his back on Vreenak slightly and looked at Drew meaningfully and then turned back to Vreenak,
"It ll be like old times again Like when we went off in to the Delta Triangle too..."
Vreenak shook his head a broad smile on his face,
"That really was clumsy old friend, You and I both know you werent on that mission. You were inspecting the Optimus at the time and Admiral Mc7of9 commanded the mission in to the Delta Triangle"
Magellan smiled wryly,
"Well I had to try something. Perhaps you should let Dr Mercy check you over just to be safe. Paul could you take him up."
He pointed towards the door and Vreenak began to exit with Drew. Magellan held out an arm to pause Drew and whispered in his ear.
"Get him checked I ll put in a priority call to the El Salvador and check what Deis has to say. Meet you in Sickbay."
Drew nodded,
"I ll test his memory some more, and a little more subtly" he jibbed,
"Yeah Yeah" Magellan laughed.

Tedak's head snapped up as he heard Lily softly informing him of the arrival of another Romulan on the station. "Uh-oh," he murmured as he set the bottle with which he'd been feeding D'Beren aside, "this may become problematic. Who is this Romulan and what is his status within the Empire? Does he know Senator Krotak, and what is Krotak's opinion of him if she knows him?"

Lily made a questioning sound. "I do not know Teeedak," she said softly, "but I could enquire for you."

"No don't," Tedak urged her, "the senator must not know of this Romulan's presence. If she requests information about any other Romulans on Assaillant, or Qualinost for that matter, tell her there are none."

"Very well," Lily replied, but she didn't sound too thrilled about it."

"Who is this Romulan?" Tedak finally enquired, as he bounced his son on his knee. The boy cried gleefully as he was bounced up and down.

"Former Starfleet Captain Vreenak," came the prompt response.

"Huh!" Tedak exclaimed, "are you sure?"

"Admirals Drew and Lin have positively identified him," Lily replied.

"That certainly must be kept hidden from Krotak," Tedak murmured, "Lily, please inform Ambassador Saarok on this matter. With his connections he may be able to assist."

"Yes Teeedak," Lily said, and fell silent.

Tedak looked down at his son. "What do you think?" he murmured, but was once more pulled out of his thoughts when his comm went off.

"Ah, Elder JakDor," Tedak greeted, "I have someone here you may wish to see." He smiled happily as he lifted D'Beren for JakDor to see.

Drew was surprised to see that Vreenak already knew the way to the infirmary, instead of leading Vreenak, he found himself walking just behind his old friend.

“I only died you know,” Vreenak said suddenly, “my memory is still in perfect tact.”

“You’ll have to forgive me,” Drew said smiling, “this is going to take some getting used to.”

Vreenak stopped midway down the corridor and turned to look at Drew, “I understand, but I am getting the impression you and Magellan both doubt me.”

“Well, you need to see it from our point of view,” Drew said in a calm voice, “it’s not everyday someone comes back from the dead – even in Starfleet.”

“Indeed,” Vreenak said simply, and resumed his walk for the infirmary.

Drew stood and watched him walk, he sounded like Vreenak, he walked like Vreenak, hell he even smelled like Vreenak! But there had been a body, in the rare occasions people had returned from the dead, there had been no body. Drew pitied Dr. Mercy.

“OK,” Drew said, catching Vreenak up, “how did you come back?”

<tag Vreenak>

“Right,” Drew replied slowly, “so what’s death like?”

At this Vreenak turned and smiled, “sorry it’s a secret, members only.”

Both officers laughed at the joke, just as they arrived at the infirmary. Dr. Mercy was already waiting for them, Magellan had obviously called ahead. He already had his tricorder in hand, ready and waited to examine his returned from the dead patient.

“Dr. Mercy may I present Captain Vreenak,” Drew said politely, “Captain Vreenak was one of the Captain’s in my Squad.”

Vreenak looked up and glared at Drew, and there was an edge to his tone as he spoke, “You’re as bad as Magellan! You weren’t commanding Alpha Squad by the time I took command of the El’Salvador.”

“My apologises,” Drew said, “Dr. Mercy, I believe you know what to do?”

“Of course,” the doctor answered, “Captain Vreenak, please lay down on one of the biobeds.”

As Mercy led Vreenak away, Drew turned to see Magellan walk into the medical ward.

“What do you think about this?” Magellan asked, as Drew approached.

“I don’t know what to think,” Drew replied, “he seems like Vreenak, but is it possible?”

“That, as they say, is the question,” Magellan answered, his eyes fixed on Vreenak…

Stuart was upset, to say the least. Here he had the security chief of the station and he wouldn’t consider Stuart’s concerns over the Mayor, Drolem Simeth, as being a serious matter. Stuart contemplated if he should get any more involved. Perhaps follow the Mayor a bit to see where his travels would take him and who he would meet. Of course this would, more than likely tie up Stuart and keep him from performing his own duties as the station’s chief medical officer.

Stuart was startled from his thoughts as his communicator chirped.

=/\= Dr. Mercy, Admiral Lin here. I have a very special guest that I would like for you to do a complete checkup on. I will forward his personnel file to you. =/\=

=/\= Alright Admiral. Is he severely ill? =/\=

=/\= He is dead. At least he was when I watched him get buried. =/\=

Stuart knew better than to think that the Admiral was joking with him. Stuart got up immediately, not worrying about the rest of his food.

=/\= I’m on my way sir. =/\=

---At the Infirmary---

Stuart reached his office and accessed his terminal for the necessary information that Admiral Lin had forwarded. There was not much information other than the name, species, former command and the circumstances of his death.

Stuart cross-referenced this information with this person’s medical file and then fed this data to his PADD. He had just left his office when the awaited guests arrived.

Stuart uploaded the medical information from his PADD into the biobed so that the current scans could be compared to a previously established baseline of said patient. It took a few minutes. Stuart noted that the admirals behind him were now silent with anticipation of the final results. Those results were finally in.

“You may get up Captain Vreenak, assuming you are still a captain.” Cpt Vreenak got up and Stuart turned to face his three guests so that he could address them all at once. “According to the scans, his DNA sequences match. This humanoid here is, with all intents and purpouses, Captain Vreenak. If he is some type of a doppelganger…well…then he is a very good one.”

Cpt Vreenak got up and stood in front of the admirals. “Did I pass?”

<Tag Paul,

"It look so. Welcome Back Vreenak. I guess we better do a formal debrief."
"Sure" Vreenak nodded

Stuart had to address Adm Lin before he left. “If you have a moment sir, I’d like to bring something to your attention.”

"Paul could you take Vreenak upstairs I ll meet you up there." Paul nodded and the two left.

After his more or less successful meeting with the romulan senator, Paul went back to his quarters to check on the progress of the assignments he assigned to his "aides". After entering his quarters he went over to the computer and contacted his teams.

From K'Tor he learned that the weapon trade went by well no one suspected anything. Just as they were about to end their chat one of the man who were with K'Tor informed him that Starfleet security organized a raid on the Ferengi vessel. After K'Tor relayed this info to Paul, Paul remained calm,

"I am not concerned if they do find something no one can connect me and him and he knows better than to admit where he got the weapons from.", Paul said

"Understood sir", the klingon replied

"Meet me down at the holodeck in 15 minutes."; Paul said and closed the channel after K'Tor understood him

After ending the conversation Paul sighed as he leaned back in his chair. He was getting to old to fast for this. Luckily he kept his children out of this. He never allowed them to take part in this just as his wife asked him when they got married and he promised her to keep doing so when before her death. He kept them protected. But he couldn't leave this it is his life and he's going to keep with it till the end.

He got up from his chair and went over to the replicator where he ordered some bacon and eggs after which he sat down at the table and began to eat. After he was done eating he got threw the plate back in the replicator and departed his quarters on his way towards the holodeck.

--At the holodeck--

After arriving to the holodeck he entered his access code and entered. Inside he found Leena sunbathing and everyone else was working on modifying the holodeck program for that night.

"How's it going"; he asked them

"Almost done sir"; the computer expert replied

"Good he said as he sat down on a chair nearby.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 3 Jul, 2005, 7:14pm

After talking with JakDor, and settling for a date for him and his council to receive the Divine Child for a ceremony, Tedak finally found some time to spend with his son. First thing that needed to be done now was to get the boy to sickbay for a check-up and soon, before Mercy would get wind of the boy's presence and chide him over not getting to sickbay sooner.

The Romulan ambassador knew that he should've taken the boy down instantly, but he'd been too happy to see his son and hadn't wanted to share him with anyone just yet. Also, he had to meet up with the Romulan senator, Krotak, again for dinner and run her through the plans that were set up for her while she was aboard the station.

Tedak set the boy in his buggy, and momentarily watched him play with his two firelizards. Then, he snatched the handles of the buggy, and took the long route down to sickbay, jogging all the way. He stopped short in his tracks when he reached sickbay, and saw the Romulan male in the presence of Paul Drew, chatting quietly with the admiral, and Doctor Mercy.

~Vreenak~ Tedak thought, recognizing the man's face from the 'in memoriam' notices that had been distributed all over the base after the captain had been brutally murdered. Mustering the courage he needed, Tedak finally stepped further into sickbay and cleared his throat to catch Mercy's attention.

"Ahem, Doctor Mercy," Tedak called quietly, "as per protocol every new arrival to the station needs a physical. I hereby present my son D'Beren for such examination. Please be careful with him, he is but a mere infant." ~no mere infant~ Tedak thought as he smiled pleasantly at the doctor, the admiral, and the Romulan captain.

He then feigned shock at seeing Vreenak. "Captain Vreenak?" he managed, carefully modulating his voice to present a tone of shock, "I see the news of your death has been....premature. Though, I do recall seeing your corpse as it was prepared for burial....." He allowed his voice to trail off, carefully letting his two pets know to please echo any shock that he displayed, so that they would not betray his true feelings on the matter.

In truth, Tedak was relieved that the Romulan was rather alive, instead of 'six feet under'.

=^= Go ahead Saarok=^=
=^= Iv e just spoken with Tedak. He is concerned what affect Vreenaks appearance may have on Krotak.=^=
=^=The visting senator? What does he suggest?=^=
=^= That the two be kept apart for the time being. I would also like to add a cautionary note... is it a coincidence, Vreenaks return and Krotaks arrival?=^=
Magellan nodded,
=^= I had similar thoughts Paul and I are still verifying Vreenaks story but for now it seems okay.=^=
=^= Understood, can I suggest a formal function - to weigh up this visiting senator=^=
=^= Good idea can you liase with Jatira and Tedak to arrange it.=^=
=^=Its already in hand=^=
=^=Good work Saarok. I ll catch up with you later.=^=
Magellan tapped off his comm and turned back to Dr Mercy.

"Sorry Doctor what were you saying?"

<TAG Stuart and Saarok>

I had put a whole blurb on this post but it seems not to have appeared so here it is again LOL

Basically I think we need to start pulling the threads of the mission together before we start to get lost. We have Castellan and the Mayor, Vreenak and the Senator. I think this dinner is a way to allow them alll to knit together - they dont have to all connect but I think some more coherency could help.

With a tilt of his head, Vreenak turned towards Ambassador Tedak. He had had only a small amount of contact with the Romulan Ambassador before, however being a Starfleet officer, he hadn’t really seen any need to converse with an ambassador, which he had always viewed as more a civilian tool. However, the romulan Captain knew that the empire didn’t like Tedak, much as they didn’t like himself, and for that he felt some degree of pity towards a man who still served that empire with his heart.

“Mr Ambassador. I can assure you that your reports were not at fault. I have indeed died. I can not quite explain what I am doing here. Other than the fact that death turned out to be more of a temporary affair for me.” He smiled wryly at the older romulan.

Getting rather fed up of being told that he was meant to be dead, Vreenak was quite pleased when Admiral Drew was instructed to accompany him upstairs for a debrief. However, this turned out to be not quite the break that the romulan had been hoping for. Indeed, when he considered it, he should have expected that he was going to be quizzed on how he had got here, and what exactly was going on.

When they arrived in the small conference room that Drew had chosen for the debrief, they took seats around the large conference table within. The human admiral pulled up a file on the computer, and then activated a recorder.

“This is Rear Admiral Drew, Chief of Starbase Operations, Starbase Assailant, conducting debrief on Captain Vreenak. Captain, if you would?” He tipped his head towards the romulan to indicate that he should speak.

“This is Captain Vreenak, former Commanding Officer, USS El Salvador, Killed in Action.” As he spoke the last three words, Drew’s shoulders sagged, and his eyebrows rose in a disproving manner. Vreenak smiled, and shrugged back at him.

“Captain, can I ask everything that happened between your demise, and you return here.”

“Of course you can Admiral.” He paused for a couple of seconds, and then continued, acting as if he hadn’t realized that was what Drew had meant. “After I was shot by – someone, I died. That you already know. Then there was death - which I can’t describe, and even if I could, with all due respect there are some things that the living should not know, and I think that death is on of them.” He recalled it to himself, the feelings, the rush of his mind when he died, the calmness, the silence, the noise, everything. He shuddered involuntarily, and then raised his hands to his chest, in the manner that he had meditated. “Then, it stopped, and I found myself on a shuttle. It felt, only like I had awoken from a long long sleep. My limbs were tired, my mind lazy, my fingers argumentative. I was still wearing the uniform that I had worn on my death, down to a slight tear in the shoulder. I was confused, I knew that I had died, how I died. I checked over a large number of records, which confirmed my death, and said that the killer had been found and punished, although my clearance didn’t let me go that deep.”
“That was weird actually, my security clearance as Vreenak still worked. It still let me into Starfleet records and many other things. At the time I assumed that it was just that no one had got around to removing it yet, but I discovered soon that others who had died, or left the service no longer had theirs. It puzzles me still, but it may just be a minor clerical error.” He stopped, lost in his thoughts.

In front of him, Drew was sat silent, waiting for the romulan to find the words, and carry on the story himself. Looking up, Vreenak looked over the Rear Admiral. He had changed little since the romulan’s death, although there were now more signs of age than there had been then. He dropped his gaze back to his hands, and continued his narrative.

“I wasn’t sure what to do, but through traveling with a variety of different trader’s and transports, I ended up here. I still don’t really know what to do. Whether I am still part of Starfleet, whether I still want to be part of Starfleet, whether Starfleet still wants me, anything.”

The human admiral looked up, sensing an end. He obviously still had questions, but he picked up instead on the last comment, and changed his question. “What else is there, other than Starfleet?” It was meant simply as a question of intent.

Vreenak’s head jerked up. “What isn’t there Admiral? I still have a ship in holding at Beta Proxima, from my days before Starfleet. Then there is the empire, although I am not loved there, it is still home. There are a great many paths I could take Drew. Starfleet is simply the most trodden of them, and thus the most familiar to me Admiral.”

OOC: Sorry, but this is going to be a short post.

IC:

When Adm Lin turned his attention back to Dr. Stuart Mercy, he was able to voice his concerns and thoughts of Assailant's mayor, Drolem Simeth, and the apparent lack of concern from the head of security of such an important individual.

Adm Lin mentioned that he would look into it. Just then Ambassador Tedak announced the arrival of his adopted son, D'Berren.

"Ah yes, Ambassador. I have heard about your famed son and am quite aware that he is not a 'mere' child as you would have me believe. Bring him over here to this biobed. The scans will be quick and harmless."

The Ambassador led his child over and the scans began. Within a few minutes the child was given a clean bill of health.

Drew watched Vreenak very carefully as he spoke, it was obvious that his feelings of uncertainty were genuine. Although the idea of a senior Starfleet Captain giving up the service and retiring to the Romulan Empire was not an idea Drew particularly liked. He could only imagine Starfleet Command’s reaction to the idea.

“You know there will always be a place for you in Starfleet,” Drew said reassuringly, “and that we will support you in whatever you decide to do.” Even as he said those words, Drew knew them to be false; Starfleet Intelligence would never allow Vreenak to return to the Empire, the security threat to Starfleet would be off the scale.

“Thank you,” Vreenak said simply, Drew could tell from his tone that he knew as well as Drew did that his options were limited. Whatever he did, he would have to do in Federation space.

“For the time being,” Drew continued, “I think it best if we consider your status as on leave.”

“I suppose its better than killed in action,” Vreenak answered, his lips curling into a smile.

“Also, it would be best if you didn’t discuss who you are, or the actions that led you here,” Drew said, “I will be classifying all details of your return, until such time as a decision is reached on your future.”

“Do you really think that’s necessary?” Vreenak asked, disappointed in his voice. If his return was to be classified he would be prevented from leaving the station, or indeed from even contacting old friends to say he was back.

“Yes,” Drew said simply, “and I need your agreement that you won’t draw attention to yourself, or revel who you are to anyone below a level fifteen security clearance.”

“Level fifteen!” Vreenak exclaimed. That level was one of the highest in Starfleet, Drew and Magellan were likely the only ones in the entire system. “What about the officers who have already met me?”

“They will have already been instructed not to pass along the information,” Drew said, “and the two Ambassadors will be ‘encouraged’ to keep such details to themselves.”

“You’re the Admiral,” Vreenak sighed.

“Don’t worry,” Drew said in a friendly tone, “everything will be resolved quickly, for now I’ll arrange for you to have VIP quarters on the station.”

“And what access will I be allowed?” Vreenak asked.

“Obviously your security access will be limited,” Drew said, “however you will have access to all non-sensitive areas of SBA”

“How kind,” Vreenak muttered.
“I think that’s everything,” Drew said, pressing a button under his desk, seconds later a security officer walked in.

“Ensign, please escort this gentleman to VIP quarters 12-B,” Drew said.

“Security?” Vreenak asked, as he stepped out of his chair.

“Only to show you the way,” Drew said smiling, “I have to send my report to Starfleet.”

When Vreenak and the guard were gone, Drew hailed Tomlinson.

“Commander, are the security measures I requested in place?”

“Aye sir,” Tomlinson answered, “the Captain’s quarters will be under twenty four hour surveillance.”

“Very good Commander, Drew out.”

Downloading the details of the meeting into his padd, Drew packed up his things, and left the room.

Meanwhile on the recreation level

Something was going on, Tammy could tell that much, Simon had been hurrying in and out of his office all morning. So far he hadn’t seen her watching him, with all these people around, no one would notice a teenage girl hanging around. And then she noticed he was a lone at last! Simon was in his office, and nobody would be able to disturb them. She rushed for the office door, but then a familiar voice made her freeze.

“Tammy?” Paul Drew asked, approaching his daughter, “what’s wrong? Why are you going to the security office, has something happened?”

She did the only thing she could, she started to cry.

“Oh Daddy! It was horrible!” she cried, rushing into his arms.

“What was? Drew asked, comforting his daughter.

“This man came up to me, and and he…”

“He what?” Drew asked alarmed, “did he hurt you?”

“No, he tried to, but I ran, and I didn’t stop until I got here.”

She cried even louder as she buried herself in Drew’s arms. By now people were starting to stare, and Commander Tomlinson came out to see what all the commotion was about.

“Sir?” he asked when he saw Drew and Tammy.

“Commander,” Drew said sternly, “I want you to prepare a full investigation; someone has just tried to kidnap my daughter”

“Aye sir,” Tomlinson said, very confused, “what’s happened?”

“Tammy, go with Commander Tomlinson and told him what you told me,” Drew said kindly, “I have to pick up Max from the day care centre, I’ll be right back.”

“OK Daddy,” Tammy said, tears still in her eyes.

“You look after her Commander,” Drew ordered, as he hurried off to collect his youngest son, leaving his daughter in the care of the security chief.

After Saarok ended his conversation with Admiral Magellan he sent a message to Jatira Laika and Tedak to meet him in the federation embassy in 1 hour. After arranging that he sent a message to Ambassador Paul Castellan on the recent happenings and of the reception that was to be held tonight.

After that was done he decided to run a search on the computer and find some info about computer on this Captain Vreenak who has just showed up. He went over to his computer:

=/\=Lily display all info on Captain Vreenak=/\=

=/\=Searching...=/\=

=/\=Files found, data regarding Captain Vreenak has been classified, please enter your access code=/\=

=/\=Authorization Saarok omega 119=/\=

=/\=Authorization requires level 15 or higher clearance =/\=

Level 15 or higher that is odd Saarok thought while the computer was working.

=/\=Transmit a message to Starfleet Command, Federation Council and Diplomatic Crop. of the Federation, Ambassador Saarok requires insight into files regarding the reappearance of Captain Vreenak due to possible conflict with the Romulan Empire and the Romulan Senator Krotak. Transmit.=/\=

=/\=Transmitting, data sent.=/\=

After he was done it was almost time for the meeting so he went out of his quarters where he was met by his two security guards and he, his guards and his two firelizards went towards his office. After he arrived at the Embassy he realized he was the first one to arrive so he sat down while he waited for the others to show up.

<Tag Jatira Laika and Ambassador Tedak>

--Meanwhile in the holodeck--

Paul had just finished his check of the modified program for the meeting that night. It looked good enough, even more, it was perfect. After giving some last words of instructions to K'Tor he left him and the computer expert and one more guard to finish the work while he Leena and everyone else departed from the holodeck as he had a reception to prepare for which was due to take place that evening. Not to add that that Romulan senator was up to something he needed to get some info on her, which meant calling in a few favors. But by the reception he would have something to spike her interest.

After they arrived to his quarters, Leena and Paul went in while everyone else went over to their quarters except for the two guards who were left outside the door. Paul went to the computer and sent got in contact with some of his acquaintances on Romulus, if anybody knew what the senator was up to it was them. They told him that they would contact him as soon as they came up with any info on what is her real mission.

--Meanwhile Drolem Simeth--

Drolem Simeth was just finishing a conversation with someone who decided to keep his appearance a secret.

"The threat to the federation will be removed Mr. Simeth you need not worry about it, and consider this as a clean start for you, your record has been erased, you are now an innocent civilian again, try to keep it clean this time."; the man said

"But how will you remove it?", Drolem asked

"That is none of your concern, in two days time it will all be over", the man said as he closed the channel

After he finished the convo Drolem laughed, soon all of his problems will be resolved and Paul will be done with, in two days time it will all be over. He got up from the computer and went back to his office. He was going to have a drink he needed to celebrate his victory. He laughed again as he headed to his office.
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Ambassador Tedak on 6 Jul, 2005, 8:48pm

It had been a few hours now since Tedak had taken his son to sickbay. Now, all he had to do was wait for Jatira to arrange a meeting for him with JakDor. Since they were bound to meet soon, he thought it could wait until then with asking her to arrange the meeting.

~I would have to take the senator too~ Tedak suddenly realised, since he was practically responsible for the woman, and her entertainment. "I can't leave D'Beren," he murmured, as he'd given the nanny the afternoon and the evening off. He hadn't expected to be called to a meeting, thus he hadn't anticipated needing the nanny either. Looking down at the boy, he smiled as he noticed the infant was actually watching him.

Kneeling down to face level with the child, he smiled again. "What is on your mind little one?" he asked gently, as he held out his arms towards the child. The idea was to encourage him to stand up and walk towards him, or at least balance himself with the aid of his father's hands and arms.

Indeed, the child first looked up at him curiously, then crawled over to him and with aid of his arms, pulled himself in a standing position. Tedak held him up and lifted him just enough so that the boy's little feet were standing on his own feet. Like this, he walked the boy through the living room, smiling thankfully as the child laughed gleefully.

"I'll have to take him," Tedak said aloud, causing his two firelizards to chirp as they were startled. Settling the boy on the floor again he told Nut and Sev to watch him while he changed into something more formal and went to find the buggy. Minutes later, D'Beren was strapped into the buggy - a notion he didn't like no matter how much Tedak tried to convince the toddler that it was for his own safety.

"Sev, find Vreenak and keep a close eye on him. Warn me if he comes our way, or warn Magellan's bronze. Yes do that, warn his bronze. He then can warn Magellan." The bronze firelizard chirped, sprang aloft and winked out, only to re-appear close to the Romulan captain, but not close enough to be instantly seen by the Romulan. Drew, however did spot a blur of bronze, but decided not to mention it to Vreenak.

With Nut settling on his left shoulder, Tedak gripped the handles of the buggy and wheeled his son out of their quarters. By now, D'Beren was laughing again, playing with a rag doll he'd been given when he was still a baby. Since he was teething, he kept biting on the rag, and soon, it was partially drenched with drool.

Tedak wheeled the buggy through the maze of corridors, towards Krotak's quarters. "Madam Senator, I have come to invite you for dinner." When the senator opened the door, Tedak gave her a pleasant but stiff smile. He didn't like nor trust the woman, though he had the feeling that that feeling was mutual. "I am terribly sorry," he then said and motioned down at the child. "This is my son D'Beren. I am sorry but I had to take him as I had given the nanny the afternoon and the evening off. I cannot very well call her back on that now can I?"

Not much later, the two Romulans and the Debrune child entered the Embassy, where they found Saarok waiting. Bowing slightly by way of greeting his friend, Tedak then waived a hand at Krotak. "Ambassador Saarok of Vulcan, meet Senator Krotak of the Romulan Empire. Madam Senator, this is my esteemed collegue and friend Ambassador Saarok."

"Senator Krotak"; Saarok said extending his hand for a handshake

"Ambassador Saarok, it is a pleasure to meet you", Krotak responded

"But I was told you had other pressing matters to tend to, and that we would be unable to meet", she added

"I have completed it sooner then it was expected senator", he said

A few moments later Jatira joined them and Saarok spoke again:

"Now if you would join us for a reception in your honor that is being held in a establishment on the higher levels", Saarok said as he showed her the way. He proceeded right after her and her guards followed by his two firelizards and his guards and then by Tedak and Jatira.

After they arrived to the Fishtank he was glad to see that everything was already arranged for the reception. He hoped that Ambassador Castellan would arrive soon, and that the admirals would come to, he was sure that they would be glad to meet the Senator.

A bit later Paul arrived with his escort, and his faithful accomplice, Leena. After he greeted some of the people that he met since he arrived on base he proceeded to join Ambassador Saarok who appeared to be in a conversation with senator Krotak.

Magellan luckily still in his dress uniform and fresh from promoting Dixon to Captain aboard the Raven emerged into the Fishtank and the formal reception. As usual a fine buffet has been laid on. He noted he was the first of the senior staff to arrive, Paul he knew was still with Vreenak and Simon he reckoned would be tied up with all manner of security problems.
"Ah Senator Krotak, Tedak is looking after you I hope?"
"Of sorts" Krotak replied snidely,
Magellan smiled sweetly, he really disliked romulans and they seemed to be springing from everywhere this week.
"I see, have you met Jak'Dor? I bet he is cooing over D'Beren."
"The child?"
"Yes. Tedaks adopted son"
Interesting Krotak thought perhaps there is more leverage available between Tedak and Jak'dor than she thought. The following days negotiations may go smoother than she thought.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 10 Jul, 2005, 8:07pm

D'Beren was being extremely fussy when Tedak tried to feed him his usual mix of nutrients and babyfood. He had taken the infant from the buggy and held him on his lap, while he was trying to get him to put the teat of the bottle in his mouth. It was almost as if the boy was feeling something was not entirely right. His brown firelizard also seemed upset about something, but Tedak wasn't getting any clear images of him.

Slowly, he turned to his closest friend, who was watching him with mild interest and Tedak could swear he also saw a hint of amusement. "Something is not right," he whispered, "my son is usually never this fussy, and both T'Val and I noticed that if people are bad news, D'Beren gets upset. I must meet with JakDor soon, I hope Ms Laika has been able to set up a meeting."

When he spotted Laika walking about the room, he set the boy down on Saarok's lap. "Please watch him for a few minutes." Tedak sped after the Fabrini woman. "Miss Laika, a moment of your time please!" he called softly after her, "have you been able to set up a meeting with Elder JakDor? It is imperative that I speak with him soon. Please tell him that it involves the Divine Child." The Romulan knew he almost sounded desperate.

<Jatira>

He also didn't miss Krotak watching him while she was in conversation with Magellan. Tedak decided to join them for a moment. "Is everything according to your wishes madam senator?" he asked politely, then acknowledged Magellan. "Good evening admiral. I trust this evening finds you well?"

"As well as can be expected" Magellan replied,
Krotak merely nodded and then beckoned Tedak to follow her.
"And so how goes your attempts to secure our goal. Have you either persuaded Jak'dor to help us or located the renegade Debrune?"
"Not yet. It has only been a day.
"Well move faster. We will meet Jak'dor formally tomorrow and get his views." Krotak and then leaned in and with a hiss added "I hope your resolve isnt weakening Ambassador, you can be removed from your position easily, or perhaps there are other.... factors that can be used to encourage you. Make the right choice Ambassador."
Tedak quivered in anger at the veiled threats but controlled himself and merely replied,

"Well if there is anything you need madam senator, do please not hesitate to call for me. I must excuse myself now and return to Ambassador Saarok, who has been so kind to watch my child while I had important business to attend to."

He turned, and walked back to Saarok, taking his child back. "Thank you my friend, it seems my son takes a liking to you."

There were times Drew cursed his position. As he stood in front of the holo mirror adjusting his dress uniform, this was one of those times. He had had to leave Jo to deal with Tammy, to get ready for this hugely important political banquet. Drew was pleased however that Commander Tomlinson had spent so long with Tammy discussing the attack, Tomlinson was a good officer, and Drew knew that soon enough he would catch whoever had done this to his daughter.

Attaching his comm badge to his white tunic, and with a deep sigh, Drew left his quarters to make his way to the Fishtank. He wasn’t surprised to see that the recreation deck was packed with members of SBA’s residences, this was one of the biggest social events to take place on the Starbase for a while. Everyone was out to see the formally dressed Starfleet Officers and Diplomatic staff, as well as the intriguing Romulan delegation.

The crowds were of course parted by the security officers to allow Drew to pass, as he approached the Fishtank he was required to submit to a thumb, retina, and voice scan before being allowed to enter. Necessary security protocols when dealing with such important guests.

Entering the large restaurant, Drew found it filled with so many different shades of skin, countless different styles of uniforms, and the ever present Firelizards that had become such popular pets on SBA. Drew’s youngest son Max was fascinated by the creatures, and had long been asking for one, after spending most of his days trying to follow the firelizards around, with the Drew’s family dog.

Drew found Magellan in the right corner of the right, talking with a women who was clearly the Romulan Senator. Adjusting his uniform one last time, he approached the duo.

“Senator Krotak,” he said smiling broadly, “welcome to Starbase Assistant.”

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Stuart Mercy on 13 Jul, 2005, 11:03am

It was another one of those fancy dress dinner parties to which Dr. Stuart Mercy had once again been invited to attend. It was attended by most of the station’s ambassadors, the two admirals were there, and a few others that Stuart did not recognize.

Stuart left the diplomatic conversations to the diplomats. He had found Dr. Lenara Kahn who seemed to be doing the same. A waiter had come by and Stuart grabbed two glasses of what seemed to be Andorian wine. He walked over to the Trill doctor offering her the second glass.

“To politics.” Stuart said while lifting his glass for a toast. “Indeed. To politics.” Lenara replied, lifting her glass while looking around the room.

“I did some research on the Trill physiology and psychology and have come across something very interesting, which I think may help Adm Lin.” Stuart said after taking a sip from his glass.

“Oh? What did you find?”

“Well, I have read with interest about the Altonian Brain Teaser. I found this holographic puzzle to be quite intriguing since it responds to neural theta waves. From what I understand, the goal is to transform the multitude of colors of a sphere into one single color. It seems that this is so difficult that it takes a Trill symbiont many lives to master.” Stuart took another sip, awaiting Dr. Kahn’s response.

“Ah yes. You are correct. The symbiont Dax is known to have engaged with this puzzle in the late 22nd century and didn’t complete it until it was joined with Jadzia, almost 400 years later. It requires focus and clarity of thought. I believe I know what you are getting at…”

Stuart cut in to finish the thought. “The player must clear his mind. If Adm Lin was to try this puzzle, it would possibly help his mind to also bring back some of his latent memories of his previous hosts. The focusing of his neural theta waves will act as stimuli.”

“I can see how that might work. We’ll have to bring this up with him. I might have to try this puzzle myself. It seems a good way to relax, if nothing else.”

They both smiled and brought their glasses together for a congratulatory toast.

"You know..." lenara continued after the toast "It could be more complicated than you think."
"Go on." Mercy answered,
"Magellan was never the easiest of candidates. To be honest I m not sure he was really suitable for joining"
"Shouldnt you have stopped the joining then?"
"Yes, but things were... awkward. The Lin symbiont is very...unique, very individualistic, Magellan doesnt know this but Lin never joined well with any host. It always kept itself a little apart, and after the ion blast that wiped out the poolsm it became even more paranoid and reclusive. In addition we happened to be in the area. Magellan and I were out investigating a Temproral Anomaly when an alert went out for a joinee. Toya had been killed and the symbiont was not responding well. Lin would never have made it back to the pools. So we were close and so Magellan having essentially proved himself worthy was joined."
"I can see how this is more complicated. Dealing with trills is like treating two patients."
"Exactly and given the trauma Lin has expereinced the ion blast, violent death of a host... its resulted in him becoming an island within Magellan. Now magellan is aware of his past lives I suspect a battle is being waged, Magellan trying to find more info and lin refusing to yeild. We need to find some way to mediate between the two"
"Well thats a whole heap of information for me to digest there, and the admiral isnt the easiest of patients"
"Dont worry I ll help in whatever way I can"

“Senator Krotak,” he said smiling broadly, “welcome to Starbase Assistant.”

"Thankyou" She peered at Drews collar "Admiral. There seems to be a lot of brass on one station."
Magellan smiled weakly,
"Its a busy station"
"One can imagine. And more important too I believe."
"Every Federation sector is important" Magellan replied, the same weak smile on his face, he may dislike romulans full stop but this senator seemed more romulan than most.
"Are you enjoying your stay senator?" Paul asked,
"Its been...adequate, Starfleet always seems to excel in...hospitality, and Tedak has been most accomadating."
"Good good. Do you plan to stay long?"
Krotak smiled back slyly
"As long as it takes, I yet to have met this Jak'dor."
"Then perhaps I can change that" Magellan gestured and led Krotak over to the Debrune leader.
"Jak'dor this is Senator Krotak, from Romulus. Shes scheduled to meet with you tomorrow."
"That is incorrect" Jak'dor replied , ignoring the outstretched hands and Krotaks disgruntled look.
"Incorrect?"
"Yes. I have spent much time reading your Federation archives and I have decided that our distant relatives are not what they cracked up to be. Both our relatives the Vulcans and the Romulans have strayed from the path."
"Path?" Krotak asked her cool demeanour sliding.
Jak'dor nodded, pratically ignoring her and addressing Drew and Magellan,
"Our peoples are genetically similar but we are so different. The Vulcans discarded their emotion, they let fear of violence and agression deprive them of a persons strongest assest, and the Romulans, they fueled their agression to build empires and rule over others, neither is our way."
"Your way seems to be to hide"
"Hiding seemed the most prudent, our ways are in advance of yours, you would have attacked us taken what you wanted. That we couldnt not allow. No Senator, there will be no accord between our peoples, we have chosen the Federation. Perhaps when your ways are mended we can talk again"
"Our ways!... you arrogant..."Krotak seethed unable to articulate, "You will find the Romulan Empire will not be slighted. As you are so certain I see no need to continue this charade. Good Night gentlemen"
With that Krotak stalked from the room pulling a Welcome Senator banner down as she left.

Krotak stormed her way to her quarters in a blind fury.
The arrogance of that man. A man from a tiny race, one that barely survived. One that held untold treasures. She would have their technology or die trying.
Once in her quarters she opened a secure and encrypted comm line.
"Commander plans have changed, we are going to plan B. You must bring your commandos aboard - secretly and kidnap their holy child - D'Beren, he is under the care of our misguided Ambassador. If he gets in the way kill him, take him, whatever I dont want him to be a problem."
"Understood senator. It will be done tonigh"

He turned, and walked back to Saarok, taking his child back. "Thank you my friend, it seems my son takes a liking to you."

"It would appear that you are indeed correct", Saarok replied as he gave the boy back to Tedak

"I hope that the Senator is not disturbing you to much?", Saarok asked awaiting for Tedak’s reply

<Tag Tedak>

--Meanwhile with Paul--

Paul was talking with some possible future clients, the diplomatic party was good for making connections and that was the only reason he always attended parties like this one. After he greeted some more acquaintances he walked by Ambassador Tedak and Senator Krotak, and managed to overhear their conversation.

So they had some plan that included the Debrune, interesting Paul thought but he could not allow their plan to interfere with his, for now he will keep this to himself and keep an eye on the Senator. After he greeted a few more people he quietly slipped out hoping no one would notice his early departure but he had other matters to tend to. While he was heading back to his quarters to prepare the transmission of the meeting he received a comm. message from one of his people who were watching senator Krotak.

=/\=Castellan here go ahead=/\=

=/\=Senator Krotak just stormed out of the party, she looked really angry even for a Romulan=/\=, the man said

=/\=Understood, stay around a bit longer in case she returns=/\=

This didn’t sound good. Paul never liked Romulans but he knew that when they got angry things did not look to bright.

=/\=Castellan to K'Tor=/\=

=/\=K'Tor here go ahead sir=/\=

=/\=Assign a man to watch over ambassador Tedak, and don’t ask me why I can’t go on about it over an unsecured line, just get it done=/\=

=/\=Understood, K'Tor out=/\=

As he was trying to figure out what the senator wanted he received another message.

=/\=Castellan here=/\=

=/\=The senator has just stormed in her office, knocking over some people and did not even stop to apologize=/\=

=/\=Did you expect her to apologize, are you feeling fine?=/\=

=/\=Yes sir, sorry sir, no I didn’t expect her to apologize but we have detected a transmission from her quarters, destination and contents of the message are encoded and cant be analyzed.=/\=

=/\=What do you find odd about that after all she is a Senator and you know how Romulans are about their transmissions=/\=

=/\=But sir, if you get two and two together, I believe she sent a message to Ambassador Tedak and that the two are plotting something. =/\=

=/\=We will know soon enough I have a man following Tedak and we are monitoring her as well. But you are right something is not right here, just keep your eye on her, Castellan out=/\=

This was getting more odd and odd by the second what could the two be up to, he knew that Tedak was not the most favorite person in the empire but perhaps he was offered something he could not refuse and has agreed to help the senator. Either way this could cause problems, problems he did not need.

=/\=Castellan to K'Tor=/\=

=/\=The practice for our next diplomatic assignment we had arranged for tonight is of=/\=

=/\=But sir?=/\=

=/\=Something has come up see to it that you inform everyone that i will not need the holodeck tonight=/\=

=/\=Aye sir, I will inform him right away.=/\=

Now after sorting that entire thing, he thought that maybe coming to Assailant to deal with the situation personally wasn’t one of his best decisions. Still thinking about what Tedak and Krotak were planning he made way to his office, he would need to inform Ambassador Saarok that his friend was plotting something, something that could be dangerous.

--Meanwhile the mayor--

Mayor Simeth was resting in his office he was going over the reports and fixing some figures so that perhaps Castellan would take longer to asses that he was stealing from him. Just as he was about to sort out the final preparations for the meeting he was contacted by K'Tor who told him via an encrypted message that the meeting was of. Although a bit shocked Simeth was glad it meant that Castellan would be taken care of even before he gets a chance to do something to him. The ship will be here in 40 hours and then Castellan would be taken care of he sent another cryptic message to his associates using the secret program which erased all evidence of a message ever being sent.

Post by Paul Drew on 14 Jul, 2005, 4:58pm

“What a charming woman,” Drew said dryly to Magellan and Jak'dor, as the Senator stormed out of the Fishtank, knocking two Ensigns to the floor.

“Jak’dor, are you sure that was wise?” Magellan asked, worry deep in his voice, “the Romulans are not the nicest of people, but they are better friends than enemies.”

“We shall not have anything to do with them!” the Debrune leader said sternly, “I refuse to dirty my people, and our planet by associating with that race of killers.”

Drew and Magellan both exchanged looks, a diplomatic crisis of this magnitude was going to require all the people skills they had.

“The Romulans have a proud and noble culture,” Drew said, “please don’t allow political differences to stand in the way of a valuable cultural exchange.”

“With the deepest respects Admiral, my decisions as leader of my people are no concern of yours,” Jak’dor said most crossly.

“Forgive me, I meant no disrespect,” Drew said, his tone remaining neutral, “I am simply trying to help both your people, and the Romulan people, surely the Romulans can only benefit from your influence?”

However, before Jak’dor could answer, there was a loud explosion from the front of the Fishtank, instantly, Drew and Magellan both spun round, there Starfleet training coming to fore. As people screamed, a group of humanoids in black phaser armour stormed the room, firing disrupters into the crowds.

“Tomlinson to Security,” Drew heard the Security Chief yelling, “Request all teams to the Fishtank, we have a code red situation.”

Drew heard a loud wining noise coming from behind him, as he turned to face the problem, he was met with a blinding white light, and then he found himself flat on his back on the floor. A quick glace to his side showed him Magellan was also down next to him, on top of them lay a young Security Officer.

“Magellan?” Drew croaked, his voice was suddenly dry.

“I am alright,” Magellan answered, “what happened?”

“I don’t know,” Drew didn’t finish his sentence as he noticed a pool of blood around him, he looked at the young man who had pulled both Drew and Magellan to the floor to escape the bomb to find him bleeding badly.

“Medics!” he cried out urgently, he wanted to get up, but he knew that if he or Magellan moved it could worsen the young man’s serious injuries. Around him he could hear the cries of panicked people, but thankfully no sounds of disrupter fire, and then he heard one voice louder than all the others, one very familiar voice.

“My son!” Tedak yelled out, “my son!, they have taken my son!”

Alarms blared wildly, the lights had dimmed to red and like a kicked ants nest people ran hither and thither to consoles.
Zoilip stood quietly and calmly in the centre of the maelstrom, he had been a security officer most of his life, emergencies were his job.
"Report" he barked raising his tone a notch to cut through the noise.
"We are registering an explosion in the Fishtank and multiple weapons fire." Sandra Nelson replied from the Ops console. Since Abrens death in the alternate universe Sandra Nelson had been filling the position of Strat Ops officer remarkably well.
"Security?"
"Already en route. Requested on site by Admiral Drew"
"Casualties?"
"Unknown, theres been a request for medics."
"Negative. Hold back on medics until we know the site is secure. We can transport them in once Tomlinson gives us an okay."
"We have another problem" Alari the Tiburonese engineer exclaimed as he dashed through the door, "The explosion has cracked the firshtank dock window"
"How bad?"
"Bad, if the crack continues it will fail in minutes"
"Is the bay pressurised?"
"No. The Raven only just arrived its still in mid cycle."
"How long?" Zoilip asked
"Another 8 minutes to earth standard."
"Forcefields?"
"I ll try" Alari nodded and ran to a console.

***

Magellan lay next to Drew,
"I cant see much from here...you?"
"Just the ceiling everythings happening...above us"
"Any idea who pulled us back?"
Paul turned his head to one side,
"Its a command officer thats all I can tell and hes bleeding bad. I cant tell where and I think if we move he'll haemorrage more."
"I ll have somes ones neck for this" Magellan grunted, "This seems to happen to often on my station. I ll see if I can check a pulse."
Magellan lifted an arm and ran it over his head seeking an arm or throat.
"No good. Did I hear Tedak shouting?"
"I think so. I m not even sure the attackers are gone."
"Well we cant lie here, even if it means the life of this officer. We may have to act, we have the entire diplomatic staff here."
"I think its a smash and grab"
"I cant hear any demands so not hostage takers."
"Well I ll give it a few secs. I can't stay up here while theres trouble. perhaps we could do an emergency beam out?"
"But without knowing who he is how can we tell them which comm badge to lock onto."
"Good point, we could give him one of ours"
"Perhaps the transport would kill him, first rule of triage, dont move the body.."
"Round in circles" magellan sighed.

--In Pauls office--

Paul was just about to contact Ambassador Saarok over the comm. when someone attempted to contact him.

=/\=Kentril to Ambassador Castellan=/\=

=/\=Castellan here, go ahead=/\=, no response came

=/\=Kentril do you hear me=/\=, Paul said slowly becoming worried, and as he was about to close the channel an explosion could be heard over the comm. line before it went dead.

I am afraid my worst fears have come through, those Romulans did something. But what could he do.

=/\=Castellan to K’Tor=/\=

=/\=K'Tor here=/\=, the Klingon said just before the red alert alarms sounded on the base instructing all civilians to remain in their offices or quarters

=/\=Get to my office now, something terrible has happened.=/\=

=/\=Ill be there soon, K’Tor out=/\=

After that was done the officer watching over the Romulan senator contacted Paul and told him about the alarms. After Paul told him what occurred the man informed him that just moments ago some odd energy spike came from the Senators quarters but he presumed it to be a variation in the EPS grid.

=/\=I don’t like it, keep an eye on her and under no circumstances are you to let her get out of your sight not even for a moment=/\=

=/\=Understood sir.=/\=

=/\=Castellan out=/\=

--Meanwhile in the Fishtank--

Moments before the explosion Tedak and Saarok were still speaking and just when the first bomb detonated Saarok pulled Tedak to the floor.

"It would appear a plasma grenade has detonated outside of the door, presumably someone is trying to enter without authorization.", Saarok told his friend and the was shocked as to how he knew that he didn’t remember knowing anything about weapons of any sort and now he knew what the sound was

As he was thinking a commando unit broke in and dropped another bomb a flash grenade of some sort that blinded everyone in the room. A few moments later, after his sight returned he could hear Tedak yelling about his son. So this was no ordinary attack they were after the divine child of the Debrune Saarok thought, the damage this will cause. He could not think about it anymore. He pulled himself up and noticed the attackers withdrawing back through the door and closing what was left of the door.

This did not sound good he thought they probably left a surprise of some sort in order to create a distraction long enough for them to get away. Again he was surprised and could not find the logic in his thought how did he know this? He did not understand it. But just then he heard Tomlinson yelling that the attackers left.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 14 Jul, 2005, 8:19pm

Tedak had just been talking to Saarok about the Romulan senator when suddenly a deafening explosion shook the fishtank. Debris were flying everywhere and he felt himself being thrown to the deck. Obviously, Saarok had pulled him down, because the Vulcan was crouching beside him, his ambassadorial robe covered in dust.

Tedak turned to see if his son was all right, but to his horror, the buggy and its occupant were gone. Stricken, he exchanged a look with Saarok then rose to his feet. "My son!" he yelled, despair distinctly audible in his voice, "they've taken my son!"

He grabbed at the nearest security officer and faced him angrily, and fearfully. The Romulan ambassador was not easily intimidated or scared, but if someone touched his family, there was no predicting what he would do. "They've taken my son!" he yelled in the officer's face, "my son is of Debrune descent, and to the Debrune, he is devine..........find him or face my wrath!"

He pushed the officer away and turned. "Magellan!" he roared, "Drew!" He pushed his way through the crowd, not caring that he was shoving people aside as he went. He was sent flying when a tremor went through the deck, and he watched in fear as he saw the crack in the window increase in size.

Tedak saw a blur of teal, followed by more teal. There were many people injured. Tedak had been more fortunate, the only injury was his pride. "Magellan!" he roared again over the tumult, "Drew!"

Only then did he discover the two admirals lying prone on the deck, covered by a severely injured person in command red, and they were flanked by medical officers. If the situation had been different, Tedak would've stood and laughed at them, but since the situation was grave, he didn't.

"They took my son," he said timidly, no longer finding the strength to be angry, "T'Val is never going to forgive me." He felt tears sting in his eyes. "They took my son," he repeated, then noticed the startled look of JakDor. Tedak just stood there, as if he were a lost boy looking for his way home. He gazed down at the admirals. "Please," he begged, 'find him."

Drew looked up at Tedak, looking down at he and Magellan begging for help. The command officer was still unconscious over them, and medics had only just started to arrive. Apparently they had been held off until Tomlinson had given the all clear, so the Nurse had told Drew anyway, she had also said that Tomlinson had charged out of the Fishtank not long after. She couldn’t tell Drew where he had gone, what had happened, or anything useful. All she could tell him was that his blood pressure was high, and that he would probably have a bad headache for a few days.

Drew decided to answer Tedak, rather than tell the Nurse what he thought of her comments.

“Ambassador, please remain calm,” Drew said, as the Nurse waved a medical tricorder over him.

“Paul’s right,” Magellan said, as another Nurse treated the small cut on his forehead, “if we start to panic, it will only delay things.”

As more medics crowed round them to treat the injured crewmember over them, Drew lost sight of Tedak, he could still hear the Ambassador’s voice however, saying in very colourful words what he thought about remaining calm.

“Do you know what happened yet? Magellan asked Drew, as they both tried to keep there eyes away from the medical operation taking place over them.

“Not a clue, all they can tell me is my condition.”

“Same here,” Magellan answered, “apparently, I should just relax.”

“Would be good advice,” Drew said seriously, “perhaps we should take a few days R&R?”

“Maybe,” Magellan answered, “it’s not as if we are much use at the moment.”

“I’ll be sure to note that in my log,” Drew chuckled.

“Well!” Tedak demanded, coming back into the Admiral’s line of sight, “what are you going to do about my son!”

Magellan finally snapped,
"Nurse. Remove this body now. Transport him, whatever but Ineed to be on my feet."
"one moment sir. I m just applying a stauncher to his wound. And I d really like Dr Mercy to loo..."
"Now" Magellan nearly growled, "I m sorry if this is dangerous for him but there are other lives at stake. I m the ranking officer and I take responsibility"
"Okay Sir, I think I can roll him now. If you and Admiral Drew could help"
Together the three of them rolled the near lifeless body over. Struggling to their feet the two admirals straigthend their blood soaked uniforms and looked at the carnage about them.
"Admiral please, my son" Tedak whined,
"Indeed" Jak'dor growled,
"Please we have little enough information at the moment. Drew I think we better get to ops. Security escort Tedak and Jak'dor to conference room c. Lily update us as we walk. Oh and have a head count made."
With that Magellan left.

OCC Just a short one my wrist is aching today for some reason - too much posting LOL

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 17 Jul, 2005, 8:14pm

Reluctantly, Tedak followed the security detail towards the conference room, while quietly talking to JakDor who seemed just as distressed as he was. Angrily, he slapped away the hand of a junior security officer who was taking the headcount order a little too seriously, and who apparently seemed to remember how a headcount was performed in kindergarten.

"I am really sorry about this," Tedak said. Most of his anger had now subsided and had made way for extreme sadness. "I really don't know how this could happen, D'Beren was sitting in the buggy all the time and he has never left my sight."

Distressed, the Romulan diplomat fidgeted with the sleeves of his formal robe. "I must let T'Val know," he suddenly exclaimed, startling the Debrune Elder from his own thoughts, "I wouldn't be fair not to." Bewildered, he gazed at the nearest console, and started to send the message. Then he noticed Nut sitting on the desk as if he were far away with his thoughts. "Nut has apparently already told Yade," he remarked sadly, "Oh I hope they find my son. If anything has happened to him, woe those who have harmed him for they shall not come away alive!"

He swirled around. "Lily, send message I just recorded. Priority One, over the diplomatic channels to Healer T'Val, CMO USS Jefferson."

"Yes Teeedak," Lily replied, "message sent." Lily paused for a long moment. "I am not detecting your son aboard Assaillant," she then said, sounding extremely said and apollogetic.

"It's all right Lily," Tedak said softly, wishing right now that he could hold her again, and find comfort in the presence of her. To him, Lily still felt as a younger sibling that needed to be cared for. "It's not your fault, if anyone, I blame the security department for their lack of attention and intelligence."

Tedak shot an angry glare at the security personnel surrounding both himself and JakDor. If looks could kill, all of them would be dropping dead there they were standing.
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Stuart Mercy on 20 Jul, 2005, 7:30am

The two doctors had been continuing their conversation and had stepped out from the main reception area of the Fishtank when all hell had broken loose. The station was now on red alert and the Debrune child had been kidnapped. It took a moment for security to let Dr. Mercy and Dr. Kahn back into the main hall. When they did, Stuart could see a nurse was trying to get a Vulcan casualty to be transported to the infirmary.

“I’ll take over from here, thanks! Just let me have your tricorder for his life signs.” The nurse that was tending to the command officers wounds handed over the tricorder and stood by, just now realizing what all had transpired here. Dr. Kahn went over to comfort her.

Stuart tapped on his comm badge. “Transporter Chief. I need an emergency medical transport directly to the infirmary, one patient and myself.”

=/\= Stand by doctor…energizing. =/\=

The familiar blue shimmer enveloped his sight, and when it had disappeared he found himself next to one of the bio beds. Nurse Tsomba and another medic came rushing to assist in getting the patient immobilized and onto the bed.

Stuart activated the clamshell scanner of the bed. The patients life signs were displayed on an MSD located at the head of the bed. It seemed that this officer had taken the brunt of the blast near his midsection where he had been bleeding profusely. The bleeding had been stopped with the help of the medics and nurse on the scene, and there didn’t seem to be any more hemorrhaging.

“Lily, could you please identify this patient.”

< His bio signature matches LtCmdr T’Lor, Commander of Security Station Alpha. He is a Vulcan. >

“I can see that. Thank you, Lily. Jill, would you please retrieve his medical file!” Nurse Jill Tsomba went to the medical archives and did just that. T’Lor was critical but stable. Stuart took some time out to go over his medical records. It was imperative that he was aware of any medical conditions such as allergies, etc.

After Saarok got of the ground and seen that Tedak has already ran of he took a moment to calm his mind he still was not aware how exactly he recognized the device that detonated simply by hearing it? But that had to wait for now. He got up and looked around for his guard, he found him few moments later and he was dead. The first blast sent metal fragments flying towards him and he did not survive as one of the medics informed him. Saarok thought of his pet, Aeris and a moment later she appeared next to him.

A few moments later he found out where Tedak was, he was with Jak'Dor and was being escorted by security to one of the conference halls on the ops level. After sneaking past some more medical officers who would only provide an unnecessary distraction seeing he was perfectly fine he made way to the VIP quarters level. After arriving there he chimed on the door which belonged to the supporters occupied by ambassador Castellan.

"Paul"; Saarok said when he entered

"Sir"; Castellan said to the man when he saw him

"I assume you have some info about what has just happened?", he asked

"Not too much, I presume that the Romulan Senator is involved in it as we picked up an encoded transmission from her quarters just moments before the attack and then again moments after it was over, I would dare to assume she was contacting someone who had something to do with this. I have also suspected ambassador Tedak of plotting something with her but now as his child was taken I daresay that she will use it as a bargaining chip in order to get what she wants from the ambassador and the Debrune leader Jak'Dor", Paul said

"I see only one flaw in your logic, all of this is not based on solid evidence therefore is of no use to us at the moment as we can not jeopardize the relations with the Romulans solely based on this.", Saarok said

"I trust you have contacted your people on Romulus?", Saarok asked which resulted in him raising an eyebrow on again not knowing where or how he knew that Paul had people on Romulus? He would have to reflect on this at a later time.

"I have contacted those diplomats that do not want the relations between the federation and Romulus to deteriorate but they were unable to give me any interesting info as the senators’ mission is not clear enough. And has been kept classified therefore out of their reach.", Paul added

"Interesting, I trust you will continue monitoring the senator and her actions closely. ", Saarok asked

"Of course we will not let her out of our sight", Paul said

And with that Saarok went out of Pauls quarters and once outside two of his new guards joined him. As they proceeded to join Tedak and Jak'Dor in the conference hall on the ops. level.

Meanwhile Paul, after Saarok departed, returned to discussing more private matters with K'Tor and his men.

"This will ruin my plans as a matter of fact it already has, and those Romulans will pay for this. This is the last time that I allow their actions to endanger my own. ", he said to Jak’Dor

"Keep an eye on that Romulan senator and once she makes a suspicious move again, I will pay her another visit. In the mean time what have you found out about Simeth", he asked the computer expert who was monitoring his computer.

"Sir, I will check on the people who are monitoring the romulan"; K’Tor said

"Good, let me know the moment she moves or you pick up strange visitors or readings from her office. ", Paul added as K’Tor left

OOC: Joint post by Me and Tedak

Magellan was not amused by what had happened not amused at all.
There seemed to be no trace of the kidnappers. How they got aboard and away without being noticed was worrying. It meant this was a professional job, very professional, the type that was government sponsored.
"Zoilip, begin a log of all raffic in and out of the system. Drew can you check in with the diplomats, help tomlinson compile a story of what happened here tonight."

***

Krotak sat smugly in her quarters aware of what had transpired and revelled in it all.
She had done her homework well and now for the finale.
She rose and left the room,
"Computer Where is Tedak?"
"Tedak is in conference room 3"
"Thankyou"
ensKrotak made her way to the room pausing outside to attach a small device to the console. The small, seemingly innocous piece of technology was a wave guide inhibitor, it would disable all computer feeds and ensure the next conversation was completely private, not even their sentient computer AI would be able to break through the intereference.
She walked brazenly in.
"Ill make this brief Ambassador. Your loyalty is pitiful and I found it necessary to act now. I have your son."
Tedak whirled around at suddenly hearing the senator's voice behind him. "You what!?" he managed, barely able to hide that he'd been startled by her voice. His eyes were ablaze with anger as he faced the woman.
"I would control that anger or else you may never see him again. now listen to me carefully you still have a choice. Are you ready to listen?"
"I do not deal with people who resort to kidnapping when they want to get something done," Tedak said through clenched teeth, "I have every faith that Starfleet Security will recover my son."
"HAH" Krotak snorted derisivly, "Starfleet dont have a clue. And you have very few options. I used a Zintar Commando team - and you know how well they work..."
Tedak frowned, he didn't recall ever hearing of a Zintar Commando, but he wouldn't give Krotak the satisfaction of that. Instead, he peered intently at Sev, who say bristling behind the senator and he shook his head ever so slightly. "As I said, I do not deal with terrorists. If you wanted something from me, you could have asked like any normal person would have. That you resort to terrorism tells more about you, than about me senator."

Krotak smiled, "how noble, how... misplaced. I find it hard to believe you can accept your sons death so easily, because thats what you are condeming him to. But then he isnt your son is he. Not even romulan. Here is the deal - You either get the technology - ideally their reactor designs - tonight or else D'Beren dies."
"You try," Tedak hissed, his eyes narrowing as he gazed at Krotak, his hand moving slowly towards the Honour Blade he kept hidden in the folds of his robe. He nodded towards Sev, who hovered above the senator. "Kill my son, and I vow I will hunt you down senator. And he is my son, maybe not of my blood, but he is my son."
"Unlike you I will do anything for teh Empire, if thats my death then so be it. Your vow means nothing to me. You have 12 hours - Tell anyone, He dies, try and get to me, he dies. If I dont enter a code every 30mins in to a concealed padd, he dies. in fact do anything and I mean ANYTHING other than get that information and he dies. Good night Ambassador and Good luck."
Tedak's hand moved quickly as he threw his blade, causing it to land into the wall just in front of Krotak's nose just prior to her walking out. "Unlike you senator, I work with integrity and honour, working towards a better Empire the peaceful way. Yes, we are a warlike people, but if we wish to better the Empire we need to see allies that believe in peace rather than war. Kill my son, and you are next...and next time, I will not miss."
Krotak turned barey perturbed by the blade. She reached up and plucked the blade down
She looked at it carefully turningit over in her hands,
"I needed something to use to kill the child when the time comes, this will do nicely. Good day Tedak, and please dont make me kill and innocent child, the blood will be on your hands" and with that she was gone removing the computer blocker as she went.

Stunned, Tedak watched in horror as she pulled his blade from the wall and took it with her on her way out. He found himself paralyzed with fear as he watched her leave; he wanted to run after her, and retrieve his weapon but his legs wouldn't move. ~what have I done?~ he thought.

"Lily...." He started then trailed off.

"Yes Teeedak?" Lily replied sweetly, "is there something wrong? You sound as if you've just heard some very bad news. You were out of reach for several minutes."

Tedak dearly wished to answer his friend, but the threat still hung audibly in the air. Warn anyone and the child dies. Yet he couldn't not warn anyone, as the entire Federation was at stake. ~the needs of the many~ he thought weakly. He gazed at his bronze, and then sent it to Magellan while he exited the conference room in search of Saarok.

"Saarok?" Tedak called into the Vulcan's office. Slowly, he walked into the office, but fear was still holding him in it's grip. "Saarok, I know who kidnapped my son," he said timidly, "I am being threatened with his death if I tell anyone, and I fear I am under surveilance....."

The Romulan sat down in the nearest chair and gazed up at his friend, desperate for assistance, but his hands were tied. He sighed. "And they will use my own weapon to kill him. I have been stupid. What must I do now?"

"I had very little doubt that we shall soon find out who has kidnapped your son", Saarok said

"I conclude that they want something from you or even the Debrune, am I not correct?", Saarok said and resumed without awaiting for confirmation

"How much time do you have to do what they are asking?", Saarok asked

<Tag Tedak>

--Meanwhile in ambassador Castellans quarters--

=/\=Sir, something odd has just happened=/\=

=/\=Odd, how do you mean odd?=/\=

=/\=The romulan senator has just went inside a conference room on the ops level, however when we attempted to scan the interior it appeared to be empty as no one was inside. The tricoder and scanners were blank=/\=

=/\=A malfunction?=/\=

=/\=Negative sir after she went out we ran another scan and it showed ambassador Tedak inside=/\=

=/\=So ambassador Tedak and Krotak were having a convo they wanted to keep to themselves, interesting. =/\=

=/\=Keep monitoring her and let me know when you have any news.=/\=

=/\=Understood, out=/\=

And with that the convo ended. Paul took a few moments to consider what he knew so far, there was certainly something odd happening with the senator, and he had to find out what it was. And unless something happens real soon, he would need to resort to some things which were not perfectly acceptable in the general society.

"I conclude that they want something from you or even the Debrune, am I not correct?", Saarok said and resumed without awaiting for confirmation

"How much time do you have to do what they are asking?", Saarok asked

"Twelve hours," Tedak said, but his voice was barely audible as he said it, "twelve hours, or they will kill him."

Tedak hesitated, he had no doubt that someone was listening in, no matter how tight security was on Saarok's office. "I can't," he said slowly, "I can't tell you. But I fear that even if I do what they demand, they will kill my son anyway."

The Romulan cast a desperate look at his Vulcan friend. Saarok was probably the only person he trusted, despite his fishy past. It wasn't as if his own past was exactly clean, and now it was coming back to haunt him. "What am I going to tell T'Val?" he finally whispered, sitting down opposite of his friend, "I have already told her he has been kidnapped, I would never hold such information from her. But what if they kill him? She will be devastated, especially because she cannot conceive."

Suddenly Tedak had an idea that gave him a little hope, but how to inform his friend without alerting anyone? "I can't remember what they want from me," he suddenly said out loud, "I am supposed to contact someone, but I can't remember." He looked desperate, but his gaze at Saarok was hopeful, hoping that his friend understood what he was on about.

Then, he suddenly rose to his feet and grabbed the front of Saarok's robes. "It is you," he suddenly said, rage clearly visible on his face, "you've got him. Traitor!" He tightened his grip on the Vulcan's robe, pulling him closer. He knew that Saarok would understand, eventually.

<Saarok>

Nut tugged at Tedak's sleeve in anger, trying to pull his bondmate away from the other person. "Go away," Tedak growled, "go to Dinas. Keep that bronze company for a little while." When Nut didn't obey, Tedak swatted at his loyal pet, gazing at him darkly. "Obey me!"

Nut chittered and winked out, only to re-appear before Magellan, who was just tending to the flaking skin of his little bronze. The brown chittered angrily, causing the little bronze to sit up on his haunches and chitter back, his eyes going from a relaxed blue to an alarmed yellow.

When Tedak "attacked" Saarok and accused him of kidnapping his son even tough he knew perfectly well that he had nothing to do with it, lead Saarok to the logical conclusion that someone was probably watching them and that Tedak could not speak of it out of the fear of being overheard. Saarok knew what his friend was aiming at and he hoped, yes hoped that his ability was restored enough for him to do this.

While Tedak was holding him close he put his hand on the mans head and mumbled some words silently while trying to concentrate it was not easy for him, and it took a lot more of concentration than he would logically expect but eventually he managed to do it and he pushed Tedak away from him after he was done.

"Ambassador calm yourself", he told him after he pushed him back

"The incident appears to have affected you much more than you expected, perhaps you should rest and think of, what you have just sensed", Saarok told him hoping that he would understand that he was referring to the thought he transferred to him during the mind meld and which reflected on how they should proceed next

It was obvious that the senator did not know how the Debrune reactor worked or anything more of it so therefore would not be able to ascertain if the plans were correct or not but that was of little importance as that was only a decoy. The real plan was a bit more complicated but in this case the needs of one were greater than the needs of many.

Tedak glared at his friend, as in his mind he sensed Saarok telling him about what he needed to do as he also read what had transpired before with the Senator. The side of his face where Saarok was touching him felt hot, and he knew Saarok was expending a lot of energy on even attempting this and he was grateful for it.

However as he was certain that he was being monitored he couldn't just leave after Saarok released him and pushed him back. "No," he growled, grabbing the front of Saarok's robe again, "you're involved in this."

Just as he pulled his friend closer, twisting the fistful of cloth as he did so, the door burst open and Admiral Drew barged in, two complaining security men in tow.

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Paul Drew on 22 Jul, 2005, 9:17pm

From his own station towards the right side of Operations, Drew could see all the alpha staff that had been called to duty.

His wife Joanna was busy at the science station, taking detailed scans of the area around SBA. Sandra Nelson was just as busy at Strategic Operations, although her scans were of all the ships in the area. Simon Tomlinson had also made a rare appearance at Ops, taking over the security console, there he was analysing all the detail on the attacks. In the centre of the deck, looking very concerned, worried, and annoyed all at once was Magellan.

Magellan's eyes darting down at the command and control table in front of him. Sitting either side of the Admiral were two firelizards, one of whom Drew was sure was Tedak’s, judging by the noise they were making, something was going on.

“If there is anything out there, I can’t find it,” Joanna complained, hitting her console in annoyance.

“Same with the ships,” Sandra said, her voice was hard, although she didn’t hit anything, “they are all checking out clean.”

“Well, we have the most advanced systems in the sector,” Drew said, keying more commands into his console, “if there is anything to find, we will find it.”

“Well, so far, the security logs are proving little use,” Simon quipped in, “whoever they were, they knew our systems.”

“Any sign that anything has been tempered with?” Drew asked, “Maybe they have disabled some of the systems.”

“Not possible,” Chief Alari, the Tiburonese Maintenance Officer, said “my people would have known if anything had gone wrong with our systems.”

“Simon,” Joanna said, looking over from her science station, “do you think this could be related to what happened to Tammy this afternoon?”

Simon’s cheeks seemed to go a bright shade of pink as he looked up at Mrs. Drew.

“How do you mean?” he asked.

“Well, someone did try to kidnap her,” Joanna said, “she is after all an Admiral’s daughter, just like Tedak’s son is an Ambassador’s child.”

“It is possible,” Simon said, “I’ll have to review my notes from Tammy’s interview.”

“Speaking of which,” Drew said, joining the conversation, “I would like to review the recording on the interview.”

“Really?” Simon asked, “That’s unusual.”

“But not unheard of,” Drew said, “Joanna could be right; this could all be connected somehow.”

“Well, I don’t have time at the moment,” Simon said, his voice going higher, “but I’ll arrange for them to be on your desk tomorrow afternoon.”

“Very good,” Drew said, turning his attention back to his console.

It was then Drew realised that the two firelizards were making even more noise than before, Magellan as well was starting to speak more loudly to them. Drew did his best not to listen in, but he could gather that it was all related to Tedak and Saarok.

“Paul,” Magellan suddenly said, approaching Drew’s station, “get down to Saarok’s office with a small security detail, I think we may have a problem.”

Drew nodded his head, and left his station, he tapped two security officers on the shoulder as he passed them.

“You two, with me,” he ordered, stepping into the turbolift.

Minutes later, they were approaching Saarok’s personal offices, Drew wondered briefly where Saarok’s constant security guard was, before making his entrance into the room.

Walking into the room, he was shocked at what he saw; Tedak was attacking Saarok!

“Ambassador Tedak!” Drew bellowed, “You are all ready in enough trouble for punching an Admiral, release the Ambassador or I will have my team stun you.”

Tedak and Saarok both turned round shocked, clearly neither heard Drew nor the security team arrive. At once Tedak released Saarok, and looked nervously around the room.

“Does someone want to explain to me just what is going on?” Drew demanded, glaring at both men before him.

Bewildered, Tedak gazed at the clearly annoyed human admiral. However as soon as the human asked what was going on, he was grinding his teeth angrily. He exchanged a glance with Saarok, and seemingly the Vulcan was also relieved that their little scene was broken up, conveniently by the admiral.

A little embarassed, he stared at his feet, avoiding the admiral's glare. "I can't," he said, "this is between Ambassador Saarok and myself."

<Drew>

"I just said it was between Saarok and me," Tedak roared, shoved Drew aside and stormed out of the office. Judging from the footsteps behind him, Drew had followed him, and was about to overtake him.

The Romulan felt a hand on his shoulder and he was roughly spun around. Angrily, Tedak brushed the hand off. "Don't touch me," he growled.

<Drew>

"I said don't touch me, and don't ask what transpired in there because I can't say!" Now, he was almost pleading with the admiral. "Please, don't ask."

<Drew>

Tedak turned his back on the admiral and rushed off, hoping the admiral wouldn't follow him. He had only 6 hours left if he wanted to save his son, and he had already alerted two persons too many for his comfort. He didn't need a third to be on the alert. As he rushed on, he didn't notice base crew staring afer him. He was some sight, his robes were disarranged and his hair was looking as if someone had purposefully ruffled it. He was looking as if he was a human who was seasick, so pale was he, and he seemed oblivious to the rest of the world because he ran crew over without so much as an apollogy.

At last, and out of breath, he reached the transporter room. "Qualinost," he panted, "send me down to Qualinost right away." When the operator refused, Tedak brought down the flat of his hand on the man's neck and he fell down without a sound. Briefly, he fiddled with the controls and then found the delay sequence and beamed himself down.

Fifteen minutes later, Tedak was back in his quarters, holding on tight to a PADD containing the schematics of the Debrune reactor. Nervously, he waited for Krotak to show up. He was tense and sitting on his couch at full alert, expecting security to barge in at any second as he hadn't really made an effort to keep his presence a secret.

He literally jumped when someone knocked on his door.

Drew waited patiently for one of the Ambassadors to answer him, behind Drew the two security guards had their hands hovering over there phasers.

“Well?” Drew asked, folding his arms.

“I can’t,” Tedak replied, “this is between Ambassador Saarok and myself."

“Forgive me for disagreeing Ambassador; but if two diplomats from different Governments are fighting on this station, it makes it my business.”

“I just said it was between Saarok and myself,” Tedak roared angrily, and then stormed past Drew out of the room. Not missing a beat, Drew stormed after him, security guards in tow.

“Stand by with your phasers,” he whispered to the two guards, as he put a hand on Tedak’s shoulder. The Ambassador turned round angrily, and with a rage of emotion on his face, pulled Drew’s hand away.

“Don’t touch me!” Tedak bellowed.

“Ambassador calm down,” Drew said in a commanding tone, again he put a hand on Tedak, trying to calm him.

“I said don’t touch me!” Tedak again roared, and don't ask what transpired in there because I can't say!" his voice became more shaken as he spoke, and then he said weakly, "Please, don't ask."

And with that, Tedak charged down the corridor.

“Lily, trace movements of Ambassador Tedak,” Drew ordered, slapping his comm badge.

Drew glared at the two security officers who were standing dumbstruck behind him.

“Don’t just stand there!” Drew roared, “get after him!”

The two yellow shirted security officers ran down the deck, in the general direction Tedak had been heading. Drew meanwhile was busy keying commands into the computer system, trying to locate Tedak who was moving quickly through the station. A warning alarm told him someone had just beamed off the station.

“Lily, who just beamed down to Qualinost?” Drew demanded, realising that Lily hadn’t responded to his first request to trace Tedak. Again Lily didn’t reply.

“Have it your way,” Drew said, and keyed in more commands into his console, within a few seconds he had locked Lily out of all the major systems on the station, whatever Lily was, she was still a computer, and a Starfleet one at that.

“Bowler to Admiral Drew,” came the voice of one of the guards Drew had sent after Tedak.
“Go ahead,” Drew replied.

“Sir, we have found the transporter chief unconscious, Ambassador Tedak seems to have beamed down to the surface.

“Drew to Tomlinson,” Drew barked into his comm badge, “send a full security detail to the last transport coordinates.”

Deciding his best place to be was Ops, Drew started the run back to the central command deck. He hadn’t realised just how far he had chased Tedak, and at Drew’s age excessive running was not always a good thing. Doing his best not to pant, Drew decided to take a few well controlled deep breaths, especially as he saw two young Ensigns approaching.

“Sir, are you alright?” one of them asked concerned.

“Fine, fine,” Drew said, forcing a smile, “just having an evening walk, please, carry on Ensign.”

Drew waited until the two were gone, before resuming his speedy jog to Ops, he was half way when his comm badge again chirped.

“Admiral, we can find no sign of the Ambassador, we believe he has returned to the station.”

“Wonderful,” Drew muttered to himself, “just wonderful.”

There was still a security team down in the diplomatic sections, so Drew knew Tedak hadn’t returned there, the only place he could be was his quarters.

“Security, meet me at Ambassador Tedak’s quarters,” Drew called into his comm badge, changing direction and running back the way he had came. By the time he had reached Tedak’s quarters, which were two decks down, Drew was well and truly out of breath. He would have used the turbolfit, but he couldn’t be sure that Lily would let him travel where he wanted, besides that the lifts might not be safe after the explosions. The security team was already waiting for Drew when he arrived, composing himself as best he could, he banged on Tedak’s door.

The door whisked open to revel a very freighted looking Tedak, who was clutching a padd in his hand, judging by his reaction, Drew was the last person he was expecting.

“No where to run this time Ambassador,” Drew said, as his security team blocked the exit, “I am placing you under arrest, for assault on a Starfleet Officer, and illegal use of Federation property, namely the transporter systems of this station, and its computer system Lily.”

“You can’t arrest me,” Tedak said desperately, “I have diplomatic immunity.”

“Under the agreement between our Governments, and Interstellar Law, I can arrest you for committing criminal acts against the United Federation of Planets,” Drew said sharply, “pending review by the Federation Council, and the Romulan Senate, until such time, you can, and will be detained.”

“But you don’t understand!” Tedak cried, as the security officers started to drag him out of his quarters, “I have to save my son! I have to save my son!”

“We are conducting a full search for your son Ambassador, there is nothing you can do,” Drew said, as he watched Tedak be dragged, kicking and screaming down the corridor.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 23 Jul, 2005, 7:26pm

Tedak stood frozen as Drew and two security guards entered his quarters. Realizing he still had the PADD in his hands, he slipped in a pocked concealed in his robe before anyone would think of taking it from him.

“We are conducting a full search for your son Ambassador, there is nothing you can do,” Drew said as the guards dragged him away.

"No!" Tedak cried, fighting against the security guards with all his might, "you are condemning him to death, please!" If they would contact Krotak, she would kill his son; he wasn't supposed to talk to anyone about it, but if they would alert the senator, she would kill him.

"Please don't contact the senate!" he screamed, kicking at the guard who groaned in pain as the Romulan's boot connected painfully with his shin. "Please!"

However his please seemed to be directed at deaf ears because Drew would not budge. The two guards tightened their grips on his arms as they continued to drag him towards the brig. None too kindly, they shoved him in and activated the forcefield that would keep him in.

"No!" Tedak roared, turning and trying to run after them. He was slammed back hard by the forcefield and momentarily dazed, the Romulan fell towards the deck. He heard the guards snicker, which angered him even more. Where were his firelizards when he needed them?

Then he remembered he had sent Nut to inform Dinas, and the brown would not return until the Trill admiral had given Dinas a response to relay to the ambassador's brown firelizard. Tedak couldn't remember if he had sent Sev anywhere, but the little bronze was also not responding.

At last, Tedak sat down on the bench in his cell and buried his face in his hands. "I've condemned him," he whispered over and over again, "T'Val will never forgive me. They'll kill him now, without a doubt."
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Saarok on 23 Jul, 2005, 8:10pm

After Tedak ran out of Saaroks quarters and Drew and his security guards ran after him, Saarok took a moment to reflect on the recent occurrences. A few moments later his guards arrived.

"Where have you been?", Saarok asked his guards as they entered his office

"We, eh, we ....", the guards started but Saarok cut them off

"Never mind that now, we have work to tend to now.", he said as he and the guards went out of his quarters and proceeded towards the quarters of ambassador Castellan.

After a bit of walking they arrived to his quarters where they were greeted by some of the ambassadors personal security force. After the guards recognized Saarok they let him in the quarters of the ambassador.

"Ambassador Saarok", Paul greeted him

"How can I be of assistance", Paul added

"Are the quarters safe, for a private conversation?"; Saarok asked

Paul called over a man that was doing some work at the computer and said a few words to him and after a few moment the man nodded.

"It is now, no one can hear what we are saying and that is 100% certain"; Paul said

After he assured Saarok that their convo was safe, Saarok told him everything he learned from Tedak, about Krotak taking his son about the special Romulan forces that assisted in the kidnapping, everything.

"I see, very interesting, I hope you know ambassador that I will gladly assist you. I also hope you will appreciate my help."; Paul said implying on something that he hoped Saarok would pick up on

"Of course", Saarok said

Just as they were finished with their convo one of the man following Tedak reported back to Paul that Tedak has been arrested.

"It seems your friend is in more trouble than we expected"; Paul said

"And I doubt they would release him if you asked. But do not worry, we will get your friend out.", Paul said

Saarok raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Paul contacted K'Tor and told him to get a few men and come to his office. A few moments later K'Tor arrived with two guards.

"Ah, K'Tor this is what I need you to do.", Paul said as he relayed what he needed him to do

"It will be done, sir", K'Tor said as he went out of his quarters accompanied by the two guards

"Now we need to distract Mr. Drew.", Paul said

"I will see to it", Saarok said as he departed from Pauls office

He contacted Drew over the comm. system and informed him that he needed to speak to him about ambassador Tedak and that he should meet him in the embassy right away as it was urgent. A few minutes later they were sitting in Saaroks office.

"Ah, admiral, it is wise that you have come I have some news that might interest you", Saarok started

--Meanwhile--

K'Tor and the two guars were making way to the brig they had no trouble passing to the security level by using their diplomatic security access codes. After a bit they arrived to the door of the brig. K'Tor went inside while the two of his friends remained outside.

"Ah, a fine restaurant you have here, I want blood wine", he said as he entered the brig the two guards who were there plus the third one who was stationed there at all times looked at him stunned

"What, who....", one of the guards started and before they could say anything more the doors opened and the two guards that he left outside barged in shooting the two guards with the phaser, Meanwhile K'Tor shot the third one even before he could realize what was happening.

"They are all out", one of the guards said

"Good help me get them in the empty cell. You go and release Mr. Tedak.", K'Tor said as he and the other guard picked up the unconscious guards and dragged them to an empty cell but removing their comm. badges and phasers first. The third guard deactivated the forcefield of Tedak's cell releasing him.

"Don't speak", he said to a surprised Tedak. Give me your comm. badge now"

After Tedak gave him his commbadge the guard handed him another one.

"Now give me that pad you are hiding in your robes, no don’t worry I’m not going to take it from you. Ambassador Saarok sends you his regards.", the guard said

After Tedak gave him the pad the guard used his tricoder and made some mods to the contents.

"Now take this and go", the guard said

When Tedak tried to speak the guard showed him out," no time for talk go and do what you need to just try not to bump into admiral Drew ", the guard said as he threw the surprised Tedak out of his cell

After Tedak was out the guard left his comm. badge in Tedak's cell and activated the forcefield. Meanwhile K'Tor and the other guard placed the guards from the brig in a cell and activated the forcefield. They dumped their commbadge and phasers on the other side of the brig and left.

"Another victory for us"; K'Tor said as they were heading out

Tedak was surprised at the break out, but he had just enough sense not to ask who arranged it. If he knew, any telepath or other means of interrogation could extract that information. If he didn't know, there was nothing to extract.

Hurrying down the corridors of Starbase Assaillant, oblivious to various crewmembers staring after him, he raced through various areas. He had no idea where he was supposed to go, and he has no way of contacting Krotak. He couldn't just visit her quarters. Then he had an idea; his escape could bring him past the quarters, and he could slide the PADD under the door, as the PADD was just thin enough to fit.

Seeing this as a sound idea, he continued his run but he was starting to get tired. At last he raced past the senators quarters and only stopped long enough to kick the PADD though the small slit under the door. Then he continued his run, and he was starting to wonder how exactly he could continue to elude security.

Just as he rounded a corner, he saw Drew walking past. He skidded to a halt and turned around, running the other way. He climbed in the nearest Jeffries tube and crawled a few sections, however then he had to take a rest because he had shafed the skin off his hands and his knees were starting to hurt. Exhausted, he leaned against the wall of the tube and briefly closed his eyes. Then, he continued to crawl, but at a slower pace.

Magellan paced Ops a new aware that something was up. Sev and Dinas were constantly sqwauking at one another, he knew Sev was trying to tell him something but what ever it was, wasnt getting through. Dinas had bonded to Lin and Lin let very little through, just feelings and emotions.
He waited as he heard reports of Tedak attacking a guard, beaming down and then back up. That Drew had arrested him, and now that there were odd reports coming from the brig.
Magellan was beginning to wonder if this wasnt some elaborate romulan trick, was D'Berens kidnap and Tedaks behaviour all some kind of decoy.
"Zoilip, Prep the Copenhagen and have all ships deployed in a standard defence pattern and Launch fighters."
"Expecting trouble sir?"
"Where Romulans are concerned I always expect trouble." Magellan replied dryly.

****

Krotak carefully put the last elements of her plan into action. The disruptor was still warm in her hands, it felt good. She exited the hanger and crossed quicky to the hanger deck. The sensor deflector masked her presence sending out false images to any passive sensors.
She hurried through the Arcade and back in to her quarters. Carefully she disabled the holo mask that had displayed an orion visage and sat down, a glee ful grin on her face. At times she loved her job. Next she accessed a secure terminal and checked the transporter logs. Pulling out a palm sized device and conducted a site to site transport to Qualinost, the same location as Tedak had been. Checking the coast was clear she began to search for Jak'dors office, even a Comms relay would do.

***

Lieutenant Kamadi finished another circuit of the hanger and rubbed his eyes wearily. It was nearly time to knock off and he sorely needed some sleep. Suddenly something alerted him, a cry, a soft wail.
Kamadi followed the sobs to a shuttle. He over-rode the lock mechanism and carefully went inside. Cautiously he went aft and stopped in surprise. quickly he tapped his comm badge.
"Ops This is Kamadi, I ve found the child."
"Is he safe?"
"I think so. Send the Doc down."
"Where is he?"
"Hes in Ambassador Tedaks personal Shuttle. And its powered up ready for departure I think. I cant tell because its programmed only to respond to Tedaks command."
"Understood will send a team and the Doc down. Ops out."
Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Ambassador Tedak on 24 Jul, 2005, 4:22pm

Tedak was growing fed up with everything; he hated being on the run when he hadn't done anything wrong. His fight with Saarok had been staged, but he hadn't even been given the chance to explain it to the human admiral. "It's all prejudice," he muttered angrily, as he leaned against the wall.

Earlier, he had lost his balance when rushing down a set of stairs and he had banged his left arm rather painfully against a protruding object. He had felt the sickening snap of his arm breaking and he had nearly fainted as a result, but he was resolved not to get caught.

He had torn strips from the hem of his robe and crudely had strapped his arm in place. As a result though, he was now completely out of balance. He feared for the life of his son, and hoped that soon the boy would soon be returned to him in good health. He knew however, that with recent events the chances of that were extremely moot.

He sighed and gritted his teeth as he crawled on, if it could even be called crawling as he had only one arm to balance himself on. After several minutes he paused again and pulled out the phaser he had confiscated from an unsuspecting guard earlier. He didn't like using phasers, or disruptors for that matter, but rather preferred to rely on his own fighting skills and his blade.

He played with the weapon and gazed at it blankly. "It is so easy," he murmured as he changed the setting to kill and pointed the barrel at his heart. "It would all be so easy." He stared at the weapon for a long time, then changed the setting back to heavy stun and pocketed it. "But what would it gain? I would be marked a coward, and what effect will that have on T'Val?"

The Romulan diplomat leaned back, grimacing as his whole left side started throbbing. He really should go to sickbay, but he couldn't chance being caught. Yet, he could summon one of his firelizards. Instantly, as he thought about them he felt his duo react to his thoughts. "No," he whispered, "Nut stay with Dinas, Sev....stay in my quarters just in case. I can't risk them following you. Nut you are in rapport with Dinas, under no circumstance are you to lead him to me. Just refuse if he demands, you are older than he is, you are his sire. And you two can honestly project that you do not know where I am, for I have not given you any directions on that matter."

He forced a smile as he felt the two react. Nut would keep Dinas distracted for a while, though his loyal brown had informed the young bronze about Tedak's predicament. Now it was up to the bronze to inform Magellan. Then Tedak realized that Dinas wasn't bonded to the host, but to the symbiont. "How's that for a down point," he muttered.

Then he had an idea, as he knew Saarok wouldn't betray him. "Sev, find Aeris," he whispered, needing to hear his own voice in order to think clearly. He was starting to become extremely exhausted and he couldn't think straight anymore. His adrenalin leves were sky-high, and it was taking its toll on him, despite him still being quite young for a Romulan.

"Find Aeris," he whispered again, "and have her tell Saarok everything, including my location. Tell her I need help." Then he slumped against the bulkhead, too exhausted to crawl any further. He needed to rest.

In the ambassador's quarters, the little bronze chirped and disappeared, only to re-appear right before a startled golden firelizard. Squawking in annoyance, Aeris hopped aside. Sev followed her, and forced her to look at him. His eyes were whirling yellow and orange in sheer alarm as he sent images of the injured ambassador to the Firelizard Queen.

After Saarok received a discreet signal that Tedak has been busted out of jail he finished his conversation with Drew in which he pointed out how ambassador Tedak was stressed out, and that he should be confined to sickbay rather then to a brig and a psychological evaluation executed over him.

Drew said he would consider the ambassadors suggestions and then he left his office. After Drew departed, Saarok waited a few minutes before he left his office. He got his guards and with them proceeded to Pauls office. After he arrived there we was allowed to enter.

"Ah, ambassador Saarok"; Paul said when he saw him

"You are just in time, i was just about to inform you of the recent news.", Paul started

"Proceed"; Saarok told him

"My people who were keeping an eye over senator Krotak lost her when they were following her to the docking bay, however minutes later an Orion entered her quarters. And just a few moments after that we detected the senator inside and she was alone to just a few moments later to detect as no one was inside her quarters as if she transported out.", Paul resumed

"SO logic states that the Orion was actually senator Krotak wearing possibly a holo mask or camouflaged in some other way.", Saarok said

"Indeed, however once they realized that the Orion was actually the senator I’ve had my friend here", he pointed to a man working on a computer, "accessed the security logs and traced the movement of the Orion, and he or she, however you wish to address her, met with someone in the hangar bay, the readings are unclear to the exact location or who she met with, however they picked up several memory discharges occurring within the hangar bay, but the alarm didn’t go of because it was assumed as a malfunction on one of the ships which are being repaired."; Paul continued

"And my view is this, she killed someone somewhere in the docking bay, then went back to her quarters and transported of to who knows where, the transporter logs show evidence of being tampered with so we do not have an exact location on that.", Paul resumed

"Sir", the man working behind the computer called out to Paul

"Security has been alerted someone found several alien bodies, dead somewhere in the hangar bay, security are on their way as is one of the admirals, and the escape of Ambassador Tedak has been detected"

"Well this just proves our point, she killed someone, but you know that the evidence we have here will not be able to be used if they accuse your friend for doing this.", Paul said

"Indeed, he will need to defend himself", Saarok said

Just then his Aeris sent him several images of Tedak in pain and where he was. Saarok got up and after telling Paul that he had some work to tend to, departed from his office. He told one of his guards where they were going and what they will do. After a while they arrived to the place where Tedak was supposed to be. They climbed into the Jeffries tubes and after a bit of crawling got to him.

"Trouble seem to always follow you ambassador", Saarok said when he got to Tedak

<Targ Tedak ;)>

After a bit of shuffling around the managed to pull him out of the tube and the two security guards carried him of to sickbay closely followed by Saarok.

Tedak was barely conscious when the Saarok's security men dragged him off to sickbay. He yelped when one of them touched his injured arm, but he allowed himself to be carried off.

He gave Saarok a worried glance as his friend mentioned the word trouble. "Aren't I always?" he answered weakly, as the security guards dumped him on a biobed. He shot them a glare, but said nothing to them. Currently, he had other things on his mind, like how to stay out of the brig, and out of Drew's hands.

"Lily?" The Romulan suddenly asked, as he wanted to ask the computer entity where Drew was. However, Lily had gone completely silent. "Someone must've locked her out," Tedak muttered, "and if someone did, that means the entire station is on lock-down." He winced as a nurse crudely splinted his arm. "Be careful with that woman!" he snapped angrily.

"Well excuse me for trying to help you," the female nurse said and stalked off, "Doctor Mercy is otherwise engaged, but I'll be sure to report you to him. This behaviour is unheard of!"

Tedak shook his head in annoyance; at least the throbbing pain was gone and he could think more clearly again. "Thank you," he finally told Saarok, "but I can't stay here. I must find my son, before she kills him, and I have no doubt that she will, even though she has what she demanded."

He froze, when suddenly Drew marched into sickbay. "Quick, the curtains," he whispered, as he watched Drew come their way. "Too late, now what?" he said, as he got up from the bed, a fresh sling adorning his attire. It required a doctor to heal the fracture, and as Mercy was busy, all the nurse could have done was splint it until Mercy could have a look at it.

His gaze darted around sickbay, but there was no place to hide. He stood up straight as his gaze met Drew's, and the man's face was speaking thunder. Fear was visible in the Romulan's eyes, but it wasn't fear for the human. Determined to stand on his own, he shook off the two guards. "Saarok you mustn't stay here, if you do you'll get arrested as well, and that would gain us nothing. I know you don't like lying, but just pretend that your guards found me and that you only came down to verify."

The Romulan's gaze rested on Drew again, and he squared his shoulders, wincing as he did so. That action would probably lead Drew to conclude that he feared the man, but that was the least of his worries.

"On what charges exactly would he be able to arrest me? Even if he does decide to proceed illogically and attempt to do so he will violate the rules of the United Federation of Planets, which if required could resort in him being reprimanded and even confined to the brig. As for me being here with you, I could have simply come to sickbay for a neural scan regarding my memory loss and encountered you here by accident. Also I am in no way obligated to answer any of his questions regarding my reasons for being here as the rules state.", Saarok replied

"Therefore it is logical that he will not, arrest me, as you say, as it would go against everything he is bound to represent and protect and I am sure the admiral would not be willing to proceed in such a way. Even the fact that he decided to arrest you is breaking the rules and endangering the relations between the federation and the Romulan Empire. And will not go without repercussions."; Saarok finished as Drew was approaching

LtCmdr T’Lor had made a full recovery. It took several days for his wounds to heal, but he pulled through.

Stuart was at an impasse. He still needed to perform complete physicals of Ambassadors Saarok and Tedak, and of Cmdr Tomlinson. With the latest incident this task just wasn’t possible. All were deeply involved one way or the other in helping locate Tedak’s kidnapped son.

Stuart needed to get his mind and body some exercise. He decided to go to the holosuites section after his shift. Entering the familiar holo-gridded rooms, Stuart activated one of his programs. “Lily, pay attention, I’m about to show you one of Earth’s most ancient sports still being played today. Activate Mercy Alpha Two.”

The grids transformed themselves and the holosuite was now a soccer field, complete with full squads of players for two teams. Stuart played outdoor soccer as well as indoor. There wasn’t much of a difference other than the size of the field and the fact that you could use the walls indoors.

There were about two minutes left and Stuart’s team was losing two to one. Stuart was playing the position of Right Center Defender in a traditional four four two set up. An opposing attacker was charging with a fast counter attack. Stuart set himself up right in front of him to block the impending shot. It was to no avail. When the attacker wound up and kicked the ball, Stuart did deflect the ball. It deflected in such a way that the goalie was caught going in one direction while the ball was able to go in the opposite and still ended up in the goal.

The game had ended with the final score of three to one. Stuart was a little disappointed, but overall he thought he did well. At least his body ‘said’ he did, as he was feeling his straining muscles of his legs. After all, it was the exercise he came for.

Stuart returned to his quarters to retire for the evening.

“Actually Ambassador Saarok,” Drew said as he approached, “I am well within my rights to arrest Ambassador Tedak, and if I had any proof of your involvement in these matters I could arrest you as well.”

“But as you say Admiral, you required proof of any involvement, as I am not involved, you will find no proof,” Saarok answered.

“Being an Ambassador does not put you above the law,” Drew said in reproach, “you would do well to remember that Ambassador Saarok.”

“Of course Admiral,” Saarok answered in a cool voice, “and to my knowledge, I have always remembered that.”

Drew stared at Saarok for a few moments, and then turned his attention back to Tedak. He knew Saarok was somehow involved in these events, just like he knew he would never be able to prove it, and Tedak had really done himself no favours by breaking out of the brig. It was clear the two Ambassadors believed it was Drew causing the diplomatic crisis, but even an Ambassador could not assault someone, or misuse Federation equipment. A famous quote from the President during the Klingon Crisis of 2292, was “even this President is not above the law.” Clearly, Tedak and Saarok should remember that quote.

“Ambassador Tedak,” Drew said sternly, “I am to inform you that we have located your child, he is in your personal shuttle.”

“I must get to him,” Tedak said urgently.

“Not so fast Ambassador,” Drew said, blocking the way, “at the moment, that area is a crime scene, for a crime you are a suspect in, I cannot allow you to enter the area.”

“This is outrageous!” Tedak bellowed.

“No Ambassador,” Drew said, “what is outrageous is how you have shown a disregard for the rules and regulations of this station, and a complete disrespect to the laws of the Federation, the manner you have conducted yourself in is unworthy of your position, or your status on this station.”

“You do not understand,” Tedak said crossly, “I had to save my son.”

“Oh I do understand Ambassador, believe me,” Drew said, “but you have to understand that it was not your place to act as you did, you should have come straight to us with your information, not allowed yourself to be blackmailed, as a result of your actions, a criminal is now loose on the station, maybe they have even now escaped.”

“Admiral I must protest,” Saarok said, “you are out of line, and being most unfair to Ambassador Tedak, who only wanted to save his son.”

“Which he would have done quicker and safer with the help of the security forces on this station, not against them.”
“Can I see my son yet?” Tedak said, ignoring Drew’s words.

“If you come with me, arrangements can be made for that,” Drew said, “however, do not consider yourself off the hook Ambassador, a full report on this situation is being sent to your Government, your fate is in there hands, not mine.”

Before Saarok could object further, Drew turned round, and walked out of the Infirmary, behind him the security officers escorted Tedak to follow Drew, with Saarok close behind them.

"But of course admiral you must excuse my choice of words, in the case where evidence exist of one breaking the rules you are fully entitled to confine him to the brig and, I, give you full support if that is the case."; Saarok added as they were walking down the corridor

"However some minor unpleasantries can also be overseen for the benefit of mutual relations between two sides. And then we need to count in the tremendous pressure one is under when his child is abducted which can make him act irrational. As I am sure admiral that you would do exactly the same thing as ambassador Tedak did if it was your child that was taken and do not attempt to convince me that you would not because I know as well as you that you would do it."; Saarok said

"Also if necessary a psychological evaluation could be done which could prove that the ambassador was unaware of what he was doing as his mind was transfixed only on the safety of his child and taking all this into account some of his actions could be overseen. Also no one was injured according to the latest reports; the transporter officer was simply rendered unconscious and is now feeling fine. Without any side effects.", Saarok continued

"Therefore unless we have some more crimes to add to what he has committed, I only see minor offenses which could be overlooked when circumstances are taken into account. I am sure the ambassador will admit to all he has done and express his remorse over what he needed to do but when one is faced with a situation like this all logic is gone from his mind. There are numerous cases of this occurring in Earths history if required for reference.", Saarok said

"Also i belive you still do not know who is behind the kidnapping?", Saarok asked

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 26 Jul, 2005, 1:47pm

Tedak couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. Evidently, his son had been found, but now they wouldn't let him near him. He stood quietly as Drew and Saarok exchanged words, and he did understand that either of them had a point.

Technically, he had misused Federation technology, and in some way he had indeed broken out of the brig. On the other hand, he disagreed with Drew on not having contacted anyone, because he had. He had informed Saarok, and he had indirectly also informed Magellan. Could he be faulted if the Trill had not caught his intentions?

"All I wanted was to save the life of my son," he said bleakly, as a security guard stepped up to either side of him to escort him to the hangar bay, "if I had told anyone directly, they would have killed him. The information I have passed on is genuine, however I have not given them complete information."

He paused and stopped as they approached the hangar bay. "I have deleted a few key elements of which I knew they would not even know they existed. I only knew through Elder JakDor, and T'Val." He gazed at the closed door, and dreaded going in. The guards however, were otherwise inclined and ushered him in.

There, the nanny stood with the toddler in her arms. Instantly, the boy squirmed and held out his arms towards his father. "Da!" he cried happily.

Guards forgotten, Tedak stormed forward and roughly grabbed the child from the nanny, hugging him fiercely. "I am taking him back to sickbay," he informed Drew, and waited for the guards. Now that he knew his son was safe, all else mattered very little to him. "Doctor Mercy will have to verify if he is all right."

Then he noticed something. "My shuttle is ready for departure, who did this? Nobody can access my shuttle besides myself or T'Val, not since you stole it once." He cast an accusing glance at Drew. "Oh I know what you're thinking," he growled, "but I have not been near my shuttle since the incident in the Fish Tank, nor have I been since verifying that all repairs were done correctly."

The Romulan gazed sideways at Saarok. "And yes, I do know who was behind the kidnapping," he added softly, then glared at Drew, "and no I would not kidnap my own son! Not when the relation with the Debrune are at stake. I need not remind you that my wife is distantly related to the Debrune? My son is important to them, and to me, and more so to my wife. What would I gain, by hurting him?"

He pointed at his son, who was clutching to him as if for dear life. "If I had, would he react like this?" he challenged. He stood clumsily, balancing his son on one arm while the other was still supported by the sling. "Admiral, if you would be so kind to reach into the right pocked of my robe....." He said softly; he no longer wished to hold on to the phaser, his worst fear had not come to pass. "You will find a phaser set to kill," he said, "kindly remove it, as I do not need it anymore, now that my son is safe. However, I would be very grateful if someone could look for my blade. Besides a weapon, it is a ceremonial item, and it was a gift from my own father. I would very much like it back."

Assured that matters were on the right path Senator Krotak decided to hammer in the last few nails into Tedaks coffin. Gathering her robes she nodded to her guard and took his escort up to the Command Level. She waited at the Security Station at the edge of the level whilst clearance was granted and then shown up to Admiral Magellans office.
"Admiral am I to assume that Starfleet is unable to find our citizens child? Its bad enough that an attack was made on a diplomatic function I was attending but that a member of my race should be..."
Magellan held up a hand to quell the tirade,
"Firstly I do not appreciate being harangued in my office, I do not allow it by my staff and I will not allow it by you. Secondly the child has been found safe and well, and thirdly I would like to point out that you werent present at the function, I believe you left moments before" He left the last statement hanging in the air, an implied accusation.
Krotak bristled a second and then resumed heer verbal battle,
"And lucky it was too. I could have been kidnapped, surely I was their main target."
"There is much uncertainty."
"I see. But you have captured the kidnppers surely you have interrogated them?"
Magellan smiled one of his dimplomatic smiles,
"Unfortunatly the kidnappers were dead, we found the child alone."
"Alone. But that makes no sense. Why kidnap a child and then abandon it without ransom, on Romulus ransom is a regular affair never have i known it to end like this"
Krotak cocked her head to one side in mock puzzlement,
"I sense complex motives at work here."
Magellan nodded wryly,
"That is an understatement"
"Well be assured the Romulan Star Empire stands by you in this. D'Beren despite his ancestory is a romulan citizen and we will help you bring the culprit to justice"
"This is our balliwick Senator, but I appreciate the sentiments."
"I understand, I will be departing in the morning but until then I ll help how i can."
Magellan looked up,
"Your giving up?"
Krotak turned,
"Yes, Jak'dor doesnt seem to be the type to change his mind and I have no wish to continue to bang my head against that wall"
"I dont think I ve met a romulan who backs down as easily as you."
Krotak smiled weakly,
"We romulans are not how we once were and besides I hope that in time Ambassador Tedak can foster an agreement with the Debrune, thats if I can persuade the Emperor and the Senate to keep him on."
"Trouble?"
"No more than usual. Ambassador Tedak has a somewhat shaky past. This assignment was supposed to be a quiet retirement post. The Senate has little faith in someone with such a... dark background."
"I see. I need to consult with my staff but will be in touch soon."
Krotak nodded and turned to leave,
"Jolan tru Admiral"
"And to you" magellan answered.

Magellan sat awhile trying to disentangle the knot of plots within plots. He didnt trust Krotak, he didnt trust Tedak, hell he didnt trust any romulan. And yet, and yet something in him felt that Tedak had acted correctly, something through Lin was attempting to reassure him.
His terminal bleeped and a face appeared on the screen.
"Admiral I am most annoyed"
"Jak'dor what can I do for you?"
"As I said I am not amused. Someone has broken into my office and the main reactor."
"Anyone hurt?"
"No not at all, but it appears plans for the reactor have been downloaded. Its theft of the highest order."
"I can assure you that no one on my staff was responisble."
Jak'dors eyes narrowed,
"What about off your staff?"
"That remains to be seen. You will be pleased to know that D'Beren has been found."
"Oh thank the divine. Where, is he safe"
"Yes hes safe. He was... found aboard a shuttle."
"And the culprits caught?"
"Not quite yet but we are working on it."
"I want them brought to justice. I ll come aboard"
"Very good Jak'Dor, we'll expect you."
"Indeed. Jak'dor out."
Plots within plots Magellan groaned to himself.
"Lily where is Drew"
=^=Drew? There are currently 6 Drews aboard the station=^=
"Admiral Drew"
=^=Admiral Drew is in the hangar bay=^=
Magellan rose and went to join him.

Magellan arrived in the Hanger to see Tedak with D'Beren ushering him to sickbay, Ambassador Saarok, Drew and several security officers.
"Paul" Magellan called waving the other Admiral over,
"Well we have the child back"
"So I see, and its left one hell of a mess."
"Whats that?" Magellan pointed to the phaser in his hand.
"This. Its Tedaks" He held it up and turned the weapon down to stun and then powered it down.
"Tedak? Tedak hates guns, swears he never uses them"
"I know. But he gave it me himself."
"And it was set to kill?"
"Yep. Thats pretty serious business. Better check its signature to the burns on the bodies."
"Already underway. This whole thing stinks you know" Paul said ensuring they were out of earshot of everyone.
"Either Tedak stole the child, or someones doing a damn good job of framing him. Thing is I can't think of a reason why Tedak would fake the kidnap of his own son. Theres no motive."
"Theres an added complication. Someone stole the Debrune Reactor plans. I m betting it was Tedak."
"That could be where he went when he attacked the Transporter Chief."
"Which would give him an alibi? He couldnt be down on the planet and shooting the commandos"
"Perhaps, it wouldnt take long to steal the designs and then beam straight to the shuttle shoot the commandos and leave"
Magellan shook his head,
"Your right this whole thing stinks. Tedaks up to his neck in it. Fact it looks like he stole the designs. Fact he attacked my men, Fact he was carrying a phaser, a phaser set to kill. Theres a piece we're missing and I ll be damned if I can put my finger on it whats your take on it?"

"I want you to question Tedak again and Saarok, he always knows more than he says. Find out what their story is exactly. I m going to do a bit of digging with the Romulan consulate on Earth."

As Tedak walked down to sickbay with Saarok and the two guards, and Saarok carrying the child for him, Tedak wondered what would come next. He knew he had told Drew the truth about stealing the information, and he also knew that he hadn't killed anyone with that phaser, despite it being set on kill.

Nobody knew about his previous plans to kill himself, when he had been sure that his son was killed, and if he could help it, nobody would find out about that shameful act either.

Gratefully, Tedak had Saarok hand the child over to Mercy, who was now freshly back on duty, for examination. However, the guards wouldn't let him wait for the result, nor would they allow him to wait for his own treatment.

If D'Beren had not been found, Tedak would've caused a scene to demand treatment, but right now nothing could really ruin his day anymore. At present, all he wanted to do was sleep, in the knowledge that his son was safe. "Saarok, I have a request to make," he said, motioning for the guards to move out of earshot. "I am not going anywhere, other than with you, once I've spoken with Ambassador Saarok," he said, and they reluctantly walked away, phasers trained at him just in case. "I want you to take care of my son, until I am released," he requested softly, "if Elder Jak'Dor wishes to see him, allow him to see the child for as long as he wants. However, do not allow him to take the child to Qualinost. You may tell him that the child will pay his respects to his people very soon, and that is a promise."

He looked at his friend, pleading. "I know that this is asking a lot, but I really do not trust anyone else with the child."

After hearing Saarok's answer, he walked up to the guards, and quietly went with them to the brig area, and on his own stepped into a small cell. In silence, he lay down on the cot and closed his eyes, but despite his tiredness, sleep would not come.

Paul Castellan was sitting in his office, alone, he was thinking the Romulan senator caused him problems, caused him to lose money, and he certainly was not going to let her get away with it, if necessary he would have her removed, no matter what the consequences would be she was not getting away with it.

Then he decided to get some profit out of it while he still could. He had all the evidence to accuse her of multiple cases of murder, kidnapping and he could add a few more things to the list if necessary but if she was caught he was sure she would not live long in a penal colony she would most likely be neutralized by the Romulans themselves and they deny any involvement with her actions in order not to jeopardize their relations with the federation.

"K'Tor, get in here, now"; he yelled knowing that the klingon was behind the door

"You called, sir?", he asked

"Yes i have another assignment for you, I need you to smuggle a message to ambassador Tedak, he will most likely be back in the brig by now, but even if he is not it shouldn't be too difficult to locate him. Give him this message:

Those who are like the Thompsons Gazelle chased by a lion and wish to evade the pending doom, would get together with others who can make the lion go away and pay for all that he has done while setting the Gazelle free again. Yes or now the question is now. But they yes does not come free.", Paul said

"You think the Romulan will understand that?", K'Tor asked

"I hope he will because I can not offer him anything better than that.", Paul said

"I will go right now"; K'TOr said as he turned to leave

"Wait, you won’t be able to get to him easy, have Jackson beam down, tell him to come in his uniform and then give him the message. He owes me a favor and tell him that when he does this for me we will be even", Paul said

"Of course, sir", K'Tor replied as hurried on

--Meanwhile in another place--

When Tedak asked Saarok to look after his child Saarok appeared to be thinking for a moment before he responded again.

"As much as I am honored to have your trust, I can not look after your child for several reasons one of which is my memory loss I would not know how to proceed at it, therefore I must recommend that you proceed in the most logical way and hand over the child to admiral Drew, he will no doubt do this for you even tough he might not think of you highly", Saarok said

After a short discussion Tedak reluctantly agreed to have Drew look after his child. After that was arranged Tedak went to the brig escorted by the guards.

--Sometime later in the brig--

Lt. Cmdr. Jackson was approaching the brig. He estimated that the time to execute his assignment would not be more than 5 minutes. After he arrived to the door they swung open and he stepped insider to be faced by 5 guards who pointed phasers at him. Seems like they tightened security, he thought.

"All praise for being so alert gentlemen but you might want to lower those weapons now."; Jackson said

"How do we know you are not an imposter who came to free the ambassador?", one of the guards asked

"Perhaps my clearance code will testify to that."; Jackson said as he entered his code in the computer when the display confirmed it and guards lowered their weapons at once and apologized to the man

"Now then, I am here to see the ambassador, lower the forcefield and wait here."; he said as he went to the cell in which they held Tedak

"Ambassador Tedak", he started as he went in

"I am Lt. Commander Jackson", then in a lower voice he said, " I have a message for you it goes like this:

Those who are like the Thompsons Gazelle chased by a lion and wish to evade the pending doom, would get together with others who can make the lion go away and pay for all that he has done while setting the Gazelle free again. Yes or now the question is now. But they yes does not come free.", Jackson finished

"I need your reply, now so you have violated some rules here and I am here to investigate it", he said in a higher voice to trick the guards

Then again in a low one he said: "I will not be able to stay here for too long, please be quick in your decision, if it is yes a meeting will be arranged in which the yes can be agreed upon"; he said

Tedak opened one eye to glance at his visitor and didn't bother to get up as the visitor recited his message. Though Tedak had no idea what the message was supposed to tell him literally, he did have a fair idea of what it was supposed to say.

"Get out, before I call security," he said slowly, "whoever sent you, the answer is no. I have committed no crimes that require escaping confinement in order to escape punishment. I am safest here, and here is where I shall remain. Get lost before I inform Admirals Lin and Drew of your visit."

The Romulan bared his teeth and glared at the visitor, anger flashing. It was already bad enough that he was confined at all, he didn't need people approaching him with offers to break him out for payment, whatever the payment would be eventually.

"Get out," he repeated, and turned his back on the visitor.

"Do you need us to stun him sir"; one of the security officers asked

"No, no he will behave."; Jackson yelled at him

Then he lowered his voice again:

"No one is offering to bust you out, that would not be possible at this time", Jackson said

"They are offering you evidence which has been collected and is 100% authentic. And", he lowered it even more, "It will prove that senator Kretak is responsible for the incident of the kidnapping of your son and the murder of the commando squad found in the hangar bay."; he added

"Now then ambassador, is there something you want to add", he asked in a higher voice

"If you have evidence that can prove my innocense, than as security officer it is your duty to provide it to the person who is leading the investigation," Tedak growled, still keeping his back turned to the security officer.

He didn't want to have to do anything with people who offered information and expected future favours or payment in return.

"I will tell you once more, get lost. If you are smart, you will offer any information to Admiral Drew, who is leading this investigation. If he asks me about this, I will answer any of his questions truthfully. Whoever sent you, I will not accept information offered in exchange for payment."

"Do not concern yourself about any repercussions I may face, it is you who you should be worried about, but have it your way, you were offered means to pay back the senator for kidnapping your child but if you do not wish to do it, fine I do not gain nor lose anything.", Jackson said

"Good bye ambassador we won’t see each other again"; Jackson said before he went out of the cell and the forcefield went back on

He approached the security officers and asked them not to reveal that he was there as he was not meant to talk to Tedak without the mediator. After the officers agreed Jackson went out of the brig and towards the office of ambassador Castellan. His access code will remove an physical evidence of him being there and the guards will not reveal that he was there, another job done, alto not with the expected outcome but still he tried his best.

Doctor Staurt Mercy arrived at his office early the next morning. He couldn't help but notice security guards outside of the infirmary's main entrance. He knew security had been stepped up since the abduction of the Debrune child, but it seemed a little over done.

When Stuart entered he was further surprised. More security guards, with weapons drawn at Ambassador Tedak who was holding his child D'Beren, while Saarok was talking to him. Tedak noticed Stuart walk in.

"Ah, Doctor Mercy! They have found my son. Please ensure that his health has not been compromised." Tedak handed over the little tyke, after which Stuart placed him onto a biobed.

"That shouldn't be a problem. He was just here earlier this week. Comparing his current health with the new scans of that day should be as quick as a meteor burning up in an atmospheric decent."

Stuart brought up D'Beren's previous scans and proceeded to scan with his tricorder. He seemed in good health other than elevated levels of adrenalin.

Stuart overheard Tedak's plea that Saarok be D'Beren's caretaker for the time being. Saarok suggested that Adm Drew take over that responsibility. It seemed ludicrous. A space station admiral had eneough to do.

Stuart chimed in. "Ambassador Tedak, I'm giving your son Cortical Analeptic do help decrease his levels of adrenalin, probably due to all of the excitement he's been experienceing. In fact it is going to help put him to sleep, so for the time being you he will remain in my care and when he wakes, I'm sure nurse Tsomba and I can take care of him until you have settled your troubles. Just leave a security officer here with us for added safety."

Tedak seemed a little reluctant until he recalled how Stuart was very helpful with Lily and he was sure that he would not let any harm come to his child. What kind of doctor would he be if he did. He agreed until further notice.

The two Ambassadors left with security guards in tow, minus one. The infirmary became a quiet place once more.

Post by Paul Drew on 27 Jul, 2005, 1:07pm

Drew considered Magellan’s question, in truth he wasn’t too sure what had been going on. It was clear both Tedak and Saarok knew a lot more than either were letting on, and that they had both done things they shouldn’t. However, Drew doubted Tedak would intentionally harm his harm, but, Drew could well believe that Tedak would use his son as a cover to disguise whatever he was up to. He said as much to Magellan.

“That Romulan Senator is somehow connected to all this as well,” Drew said, “she is giving up far too easily.”

It was then Drew remembered he had Tedak’s padd in his hand. He quickly activated the small device, almost at once; the plans for the Debrune Reactor appeared on the screen, as did a confession from Tedak that he had stolen the plans.

“While, that confirms my theory,” Magellan said, as Drew showed him the padd, “the question is, why did Tedak steal the plans?”

“Blackmail,” Drew said simply, “we already know someone was using his son to get to him.”

“Go and question him and Saarok again,” Magellan said, “lets get to the bottom of this.”

Nodding his head in agreement, Drew left the shuttlebay, and made his way up to the security level. The two guards he had posted were still stood outside, each armed with a phaser rifle. Drew was taking no chances that Tedak would again break out.

“Ambassador,” Drew said, walking into the holding area, “we need to talk.”

“I thought everything had been said Admiral,” Tedak replied.

“We know you were being blackmailed Ambassador,” Drew answered, “we know how they were blackmailing you, we know what they were blackmailing you for, we have a pretty good idea who was doing it, we just need you to confirm it.”

Drew waited in silence for Tedak to give his answer.

Post by Ambassador Tedak on 27 Jul, 2005, 1:31pm

Tedak rolled onto his back, grimacing as he brushed the side of the cot with his injured arm, and glanced sideways at the admiral. "You already have that confirmation," he said quietly, "I have given you the PADD and the phaser. Had I all done this on my own, without blackmail, I would not have gone through so much trouble to find my son, and would I not have let myself be locked up again without complaint, if at all."

He drew himself up slightly and swung his legs over the edge of the cot to sit up. "The guard whom I took the phaser from, is he all right?" he asked, "and did you find my Honour Blade yet?"

He avoided meeting Drew's eyes as he spoke next. "And the Debrune, what are they saying?" he continued, "have they been shown the information that I downloaded?"

At Drew's silence, Tedak concluded that the admiral had not come down to be asked questions, he had come down to get a simple yes or no to his own question. "Yes," he said finally, "I was blackmailed, they threatened to kill my son if I would not do as they said. I naturally refused, but they were very....persuasive. I made a mistake then. In anger I threw my Honour Blade at them, which they took with them. They would use it to kill my son, so that all the evidence would point to me." He never mentioned to Drew, who exactly had blackmailed him, and why.

He then cast a curious glance at Drew. "It does, doesn't it?" he then asked, his voice suddenly hollow, "that is why I am still locked up, because the evidence does point towards me." He lay back down again, suddenly feeling defeated, wishing once more he had the phaser. "Well then, Krotak has her wish then," he whispered sadly, "for she wished me removed from my duties. I have failed the Empire, I have failed the empress." He turned his back towards Drew. "Leave me admiral, you do not wish to be associated with a traitor to the empire. It was their plan all along it seems, to discredit me, and apparently they have succeeded."

"Oh Doctor Mercy!" Nurse Jill Tsomba had just remembered her earlier treatment of Ambassador Tedak. "I nearly forgot with all of the commotion going on. Ambassador Tedak has a broken arm. I was able to splint it and have helped alleviate his pain, but the bone needs resetting."

"Ah, I see. Admiral Drew and his security goons were apparently just way too busy to care, it seems. I guess a housecall to the brig is in order."

Stuart gathered a medkit that was specially outfitted for bone fractures. He strode out from the Infirmary and made his way to the brig.

Upon arriving, Stuart could see Adm Drew in the cell with the Ambassador. Stuart heard how Amb Tedak said,
"Leave me admiral, you do not wish to be associated with a traitor to the empire. It was their plan all along it seems, to discredit me, and apparently they have succeeded."

"Well traitor or not, I am here to treat you without prejudice one way or the other, unlike others." Stuart approached and one of the guards positioned himself to block his progress. "You had best stand aside. Under the Articles of the United Federation of Planets you are illegaly holding a prisoner who is supposed to have had complete treatments for his injuries."

Adm Drew turned around to look at Mercy and the guard in his way.

Without giving the Admiral a chance to respond yet, Stuart continued. "Admiral, at the very worst I will activate an Emergency Medical Lockdown of this station. It will take you several minutes to counter it, but by then this station will have been hampered to the point that it will take hours for it to resume normal operations. I'm sure you don't want to deal with the headaches of that. You may reprimand or even dismiss me for it, but I assure you that my final report for the treatment of Ambassador Tedak will be equal in its ramifications."

<Paul>

The guard accepted the slight nod that the Admiral had given him, stepped aside, and deactivated the forcefield. Stuart hated to use threats like this, but he would not stand by and watch his patients be treated inhumanely, no matter how minor the injury may seem.

Stuart stepped into the cell. Taking out his tricorder he started with a hemostatic scan. It verified that Amb Tedak had no internal bleeding in his arm, but one small contusion. After checking the bone fracture, Stuart saw that Jill had been correct, it would need resetting. Knowing that Adm Drew would be adverse to his prisoner returning to sickbay, Stuart was going to have to do this the old-fashioned way.

"Ambassador, I have to reset your fracture. The simplest way really, is for me to pull on your forarm. I know that you have a higher threshold for pain than us humans, but it will still smart a bit. Are you ready?" Stuart grabbed his forarm awaiting his response.

<Tedak>

As soon as the Ambassador finished speaking, Stuart yanked firmly on his arm almost bringing both of them off-balance. Amb Tedak did not yell out. Stuart rescanned the area, the bone was in place. The final treatment was the use of a bone mitigator to help speed up the healing process of the fracture. Stuart resplinted the arm, repacked his medkit, and stepped out of the cell.

<Tedak>

"Ambassador, there is no need to thank me. It is simply my duty. I would be less of a doctor if I were to let criminal prejudice, or any other kind, get in my way." Stuart looked straight at Adm Drew when he had said this. "And yes, your son is doing just fine. He is still sleeping. I have also taken the priviledge of forwarding a message to your wife to help ease her mind."

"Gentlemen, have a nice day!" Stuart strode out, not sure if he had strained his relationship with Adm Drew or not. Time would tell, but he did the right thing.

Before Drew could reply to Tedak’s statements, he was aware of somebody behind him, turning he wasn’t overly surprised to see Dr. Mercy. The Doctor looked annoyed, clearly unwillingly to let one of his patients suffer, but uncertain just what trouble he might get into for arguing with an Admiral. Knowing full well that Dr. Mercy out-ranked him in all medical matters, Drew maintained his icy glare, figuring it was better to appear annoyed and bothered.

“Please Doctor,” Drew said, standing aside, “treat your patient, but be quick, we have much to discuss.”

Drew watched Dr. Mercy treat Tedak’s injured arm, he hadn’t spent much time with the young Doctor since his assignment to SBA, but from what Drew had seen, he was an excellent Doctor. Which reminded Drew, he really needed to follow through on the advice Dr. Mercy had given him a few days ago, about looking after himself, and dealing with his past experiences.

Drew also took the opportunity to watch Tedak as he was being treated. The usually proud Romulan was clearly feeling very depressed, and right now, Drew rather suspected the man was almost suicidal. Of course he would never say such a thing, but he had noticed the set to kill phaser, and the knife Tedak usually carried. Perhaps Tedak also could benefit from talking to a Counsellor.

Finally Dr. Mercy was finished, he exchanged words with Tedak, and then giving Drew an wide berth left the brig.

“So Ambassador, who do you think has set up?” Drew asked his tone neutral.

Tedak looked up at Drew, his eyes darting about the brig, then fixing onto Drew’s face.

“I cannot say,” Tedak replied finally, “they may wish to prove me a traitor, but I am not.”

“I presume from your comments you are referring to the Romulan senate,” Drew said casually, “perhaps even the recent representative we have had here on the station.”

This time Tedak didn’t answer, instead the Romulan lowered his head, apparently hugely interested in the floor beneath him.

“I see no reason to keep you further Ambassador, you are free to go,” Drew said suddenly, after a period of silence.

Very slowly, Tedak once again raised his head, a look of utter confusion on his face.

“But all the evidence points to my guilt,” Tedak said quietly.

“Indeed it does,” Drew replied, “however, my gut instinct tells me that the only things you are guilty off are the charges I already arrested you on, and for those consider yourself on bail until further notice.”

“Admiral, can you do that?” Tedak asked, very clearly puzzled.

“I just did Ambassador,” Drew answered, “this doesn’t mean your let off the hook, but I believe you are going to be more useful this side of the force field.”

Pressing a side control, Drew lowered the force-field, setting Tedak free once again, although this time legally free.

“Go to your son,” Drew said simply, “we can deal with this in the morning.”

Tedak looked at Drew, then at the two security guards, then before anyone could change their minds, the Ambassador ran from the brig. Drew watched him go, there was still a mystery to be solved, and Tedak was still up to his neck in whatever it was, but Drew didn’t believe him guilty of murder, or of kidnap.

Tomorrow, the answers to the puzzle should finally be known, or so Drew hoped...

Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING
Post by Ambassador Tedak on 30 Jul, 2005, 7:21pm

Tedak thanked the CMO for taking care of his arm, as well as his son, then returned his attention to Drew, who obviously was not inclined to leave. The admiral's behaviour puzzled him; for someone seemingly convinced of his guilt, he was acting very oddly. Tedak was even more convinced of this when the admiral deactivated the forcefield, and told him he was free to go, albeit on bail.

Shaking his head in confusion, he ran from the holding cell area. after Mercy to sickbay. Once there, he closed his sleeping son in his arms and hugged him tightly. The boy didn't wake but did snuggle up against his father. Also, the two firelizards instantly appeared, chittering happily and rubbing their heads against Tedak's cheeks in affection.

For the first time in hours, Tedak actually smiled. "Yes I missed you both too, and I am very sorry that you both had to go through this." He gazed at Nut. "What did Dinas tell you, after you told him about me?"

The little brown gazed at him intently, and Tedak nodded. "Don't worry, I know you have tried. You are a very good pet indeed." He gently stroked his brown across his back, and then also showed the same affection to his bronze. "Come, let's go home."

The Romulan didn't miss the two security guards still following him but he didn't mind at all. When the two remained at his door to stand guard, he invited them in. "I think you will be more comfortable inside," he said, "my son's safety is more important than mine. If anything happens, you are to take care of him first, understood?"

The two guards looked confused for a moment, then nodded they understood.

"Good," Tedak continued, then motioned to the couch. "Make yourselves comfortable, I believe you know where you can find the replicator, if you need anything. Right now, I am going to give my son a bath and then make sure he's comfortable."

Tedak still couldn't believe that his son was safe, and that he was released from the brig. He also knew, that he wasn't home free just yet, and that he would still face charges for stealing important information. Yet he also felt that, if he betrayed Krotak, she would retaliate even worse than she had done now. She was a member of the senate, and it would be her word against his. No matter what, Tedak believed his diplomatic career to be over.

"Admiral Magellan, this is Ambassador Tedak. Would you please come down to my quarters, I believe we should talk." Tedak waited for a response, hoping that the admiral would come down without question. He knew he owed the commanding officer of the station some explanation, even if he couldn't tell all. The only person who knew all, was his closest friend, who happened to be a Section 31 operative on the side. Officially, Tedak didn't know, but he had guessed quietly at some point even though he had never alerted his friend of that knowledge. In addition, he wasn't about to betray Saarok's trust on that front, ever.

Joint post with Tedak

Magellan made his way down to Tedaks, he paused en route to pick up a phaser. He fitted it to his belt and continued on his way.
Magellan stood at the door and rang the bell
"Enter," Tedak called, watching the guards warily.
Magellan pressed the opener and stepped through. "Ambassador - what can I do for you?"
"Aefvadh," Tedak said politely, and motioned for the admiral to come into his quarters further. "Did my firelizard relay my message?"
"I m afraid not. Dinas is linked to Lin, I gained a sensation but nothing definite, Was it important?"
Tedak nodded gravely. "I fear that it was, it would have saved base security a lot of trouble." He motioned for the admiral to sit down. "Then my honour would be intact because then I would not have had to resort to.....criminality."

Magellan frowned, "That was your choice. You made the wrong one. You may have diplomatic immunity but you run far too free for my liking. You over stepped the mark here and are lucky that we know you were under duress or else diplomat or not I would have made you face the consequences. I look after my people"
Anger flared in Tedak's eyes as he glared at Magellan. "I never said that I was unwilling to face the consequences of my actions!" He took a deep breath in an attempt to regain his previous calm. "I have tried to inform you by the only safe means I thought possible. I was unaware that Dinas is bonded to symbiont rather than host." Again he paused. "However, unlike some people think, I was not responsible for the kidnapping, or the death of those Romulan commando's. The phaser that Admiral Drew confiscated had not been fired, at least not by me. The guard I took it from is unharmed, I made sure of that."

Magellan turned his back a moment to look out the window "The fact remains, you attacked one of my officers, you took his weapon, you stole from the Debrune. Matters on that front are delictae enough as it is. Both Drew and I suspect you arent behind the kidnap, we arent that stupid. The evidence was too heavily stacked. What I protest at is the manner in which you conduct yourself"

"I hardly had any choice," Tedak retorted, "it was the life of a Debrune child on the line. Had I not done it, they would have killed him. Adding to that, I changed the data that I did take, so that it would be useless in the end. I was being watched, had I warned anyone, they would have killed my child. I would sooner face disgrace, than endanger my family." He glared at the Trill, who still stood gazing out the window, "but you wouldn't know about that would you. About family."
Magellan stood their impassivley despite the barbed comment. "One. there is always a choice. You may not like it but there are always options, yours was to come to the authorities we could have scanned the station for D'berens life signs. and Two having a family is irrelevant this base is my family and every soul aboard my children. I owe them protection and support.all 100,000 of them. I will admit that changing the data was an attempt to do right but it still leaves us with a problem. We know Krotak organised it but have no evidence what so ever. And she leaves in the morining"

This alarmed Tedak. "We could...." He faltered, unsure as of what to say. He knew that the admiral was right with every word he spoke, he just hated to admit it. "What if..." he started again. Then he smiled, though it was an angry smile. "She still has my blade," he whispered, "there was no way she could have gotten it other than taking it from me. Of course, she got it because of an angry and stupid act on my part, but she still has it."

"How do you propose we get it back?" he added after a long silence.
Magellan turned away from the window a slight grin on his face, "That could be the opportunity we need. Its certainly some level of proof, but a lawyer would get her to slip free easily. So she's got your knife. They ll say you gave it her, you planted it. She may even admit to stealing it - but it doesnt link to the kidnap nor the theft of materials, its your word against hers. However there may be an option"
Tedak raised an eyebrow, gazing at the admiral questioningly. "And what would that be?"

"I take it your honour demands that you claim back that blade. You also havent had chance yet to give her the PaDD with the info correct?"
Tedak nodded. "Mnhei'sahe is involved," he admitted, "in fact, honour would demand that I kill her to save my family, and save the face of the Debrune. Well yes, I did give her the PADD...though for some reason that I cannot recall, I had it with me when Drew arrested me."
"she probably downloaded the contents and returned it to you. I doubt she wanted any evidence. Okay Tedak you have a choice now, a tough one, agree to help or let Krotak go"
"Letting her go is not an option," Tedak growled, grinding his teeth in rising anger, "and I am surprised you even dare suggesting it."

"I dare only because my plan holds much risk. And I want you to realise the truth that there is always a choice... shall I go on"
"I am surprised you ask," Tedak repeated, "anything other than the truth is not an option. Continue."
"I see we still dont understand one another" Magellan laughed, "But it doesnt matter. You need to go and retrieve the honour blade."
"Then make me understand," Tedak said irritable, "this is hardly a laughing matter. Honour is at stake, and much more. Yes I need to retrieve my blade. But that senator is a hnoiyika, she's devious."

Magellan shook his head, "I think we should leave such philosophy for another time. For now you need to go and get your blade. Krotak like you has immunity and to be fair she has more weighting than you - She is a Senator. We cant just search her rooms, even on your say so.. Searching for the blade will do two things. It will antagonise her and secondly you may uncover something else. Krotak leaves tomorrow so you best act quickly"

Tedak nodded. "I will confront her directly, she may not expect that. However, what are the risks to me? What will happen to D'beren, if anything happens to me? Don't get me wrong, this is a risk I must take, honour demands it."
"The risk is your death I would imagine D'Beren well I expect Jak'dor will want him back - but there is still T'Val. But that sounds like defeatist talk. A direct challenge would probably be most effective, she will be suspicous that we have let you go. Whatever happens dont explain why you are. Just say they have other evidence they are looking in to"

"I will pretend I have escaped again," Tedak suggested, "and will also pretend that my son has not yet been found. I would prefer the guards to remain here to guard him. Yes, there is T'Val, and since she is of Debrune descent they will not take the child from her. She has always had his best interest in mind." He smiled fondly as he mentioned his wife. "If you do not hear from me in thirty minutes, send in the cavalery."
"No tedak, you miss what I mean - Krotak is clever she will know by now you have been released and that the child has been found. The way to beat Krotak is to be as clever. Just challenge her and use your Romulan cleverness to drop hints at what we may have discovered. Now we have little time, you must get going, And good luck Ambassador I hope you wont need it."

"I think I will," Tedak sighed, as he walked out of his quarters. Soon, he found himself standing before the senator's quarters, and wondered just how he would go about this. The easiest would be revenge, for those feelings of hatred towards the woman were quite real. He didn't bother making his presence known, instead he used an override not even Saarok knew he had. Seemingly, someone forgot to revoke his old Tal Shiar codes, and even this code, which he had gained from the mind meld with Saarok, wasn't widely known. "We meet again senator," Tedak said coolly, as he approached her, "you have something that belongs to me, and I want it back."

Krotak smiled cruelly and waved for her guard to step back. He did so but his hand remained rested on his disruptor.
"Why Ambassador so nice to see you. Come to wish me farewell?"
She turned and took a seat.
"You know why I ve come?"
Krotak nodded and then activated a device on her arm,
"This will scramble any listening devices. Now Tedak what is it you refer to? Your child has been found has he not. Safe and well as I promised."
Tedak scowled,
"Yes and incriminating me. I meant my honour blade."
Krotaks eyes narrowed,
"Firstly you have no honour, no romulan honour anyways so you have no need for such a blade. It will remain an heirloom for my family, and secondly... more importantly why is it that you are here. I assume you managed to persuade the feeble starfleeters of your innocence or are you just on parole?"

"Let us just say that they still do not trust me and that my credibility is worth very little at present," Tedak replied neutrally, though internally he was fuming, "I am released because they could not prove anything, but I am still suspect. At the tiniest shred of evidence I am sure that I shall be arrested again."

The Romulan diplomat took a step closer to the senator, while he kept an eye on the guard. He hadn't anticipated a guard being there, but he now called himself a fool for not thinking about the possebility. He was also unarmed, and he felt really naked without his trusted weapon.

"I want my blade back," he said calmly, holding out his hand, "and you claim I have no honour. What honourable person kidnaps an innocent child, someone who cannot defend himself. What honour is in that?"

He took another step closer, and didn't miss the guard's hand closing around the butt of his disruptor. "My property please," he insisted, "hand it back and I shall not hinder your departure, and I shall not make mention of this to the Praetor."

~I won't, but Admiral Magellan or Admiral Drew will~ he thought privately, smiling wanly at the Senator. "I doubt you will want to face the consequences if you don't give me back my property. And I also doubt that you will kill me, for I will be missed sooner or later, and they will know who killed me instantly."

He paused, taking yet another step forward. He stood now squarely in front of the Senator, his still outstretched hand just barely touching her chest. "Mnhei'sahe is involved. I would prefer not to kill you senator, but if mnhei'sahe demands it of me, then I shall."

Krotak laughed loud and repulsively,
"You really are weak. you have no stamina no true heart. Here... here is your pitiful blade"
Krotak withdrew the blade from a sleeve and tossed it over, "You Ambassador and your family are finished. i can assure you that."
"I care little for your assurances, you will get yours"
"Bah, I quake at your threats, after all you said it yourself it takes only a small amount for Starfleet to lock you up for a very long time."
Tedak scowled,
"well good luck Ambassador, I can leave in the morning my mission accomplished. I used your...antics as a distraction to extract Jak'dors comm logs. I know where the rebel debrune are and so do my superiors, and hopefully you will be locked up for a long time."

"I take your empty threats for what they are. Now as Senator I ask you one last thing. Here are the latest Romulan Reports ensure they are uploaded to the Embassy Computer immediatly. If you don't the Senate will lockyou up even if Starfleet doesnt."

"Good by Ambassador"

Krotak waited a moment for Tedak to leave and then went into the bedroom. She rummaged through a draw and extracted a PaDD and the holo mask,
"Now for the final nail in the coffin" she hummed to herself.

"You may yet have your wish," Tedak said quietly as he caught the blade that was tossed to him. He felt the sharp edge cut the palm of his hand but he bit back a response to the stinging pain. Grinding his teeth as he slid the blade into its sheath, he turned towards the senator. "However, I sincerely doubt that you will locate the Debrune. By now, the Debrune will be warned of our....actions, and they will be relocated."

He paused for a short moment. "And I very much doubt that you will leave this station alive. Starfleet command will not let you leave, I promise you, even though I will stick to my promise and will not stop you from leaving the station." ~and only leaving the station, after that, I will hunt you down~

"I don't think so," Tedak said, ignoring the outstretched hand, "I will not upload Romulan propaganda to the embassy computer. The only thing I will upload is Romulan truth, not senate lies. You may take your reports and take it to the senate. I am not a puppet that you can make dance around as you please."

"Good by Ambassador"

"Goodbye senator," Tedak said, and turned his back on her as he gracefully strode out of her quarters. The first thing he would do was take the blade to Magellan to have him investigate it.

Krotak motioned for her guard to follow Tedak and departed her room, she made her way first to a busy bar and entered the bathroom. There she pulled out the holo mask and emerged as Gallamite. She wound her way back through the crowds and out into the Arcade.
Carefully, aware that someone may just have been able to follow her she made several turns and used every trick she knew to throw off pursuit. Then assured there was nothing more to do she made the final leg of her journey.

She took a turbolift down into the depths of Assailant to teh industrial units. She passed unit after unit before stopping before a derelict factory section. Tapping in a code she carefully entered. This unit was a covert Tal Shiar safe house. She moved swiftly to a secure chest hidden beneath a pile of rubble. She extracted a PaDD. she checked to see the stolen Comm Logs from Jak'dors office were still present, changed her appearance to that of an unassuming human and left.

Ten minutes and she was back up in the ambassadorial quarter. She tapped a comm unit.
"Where is he?"
"Tedak has entered the secure Starfleet Section. I cant go further it looks as if hes on his way to Ops or perhaps the Admiral"
"Excellent" krotak replied. Now was the time to finally sink that weak fool.
She moved quickly to Tedaks quarters. She waited to ensure no one was around and that the child and nanny were absent and then carefully broke in. She stole across the room to the bedroom and lifted the matress of the bed, carefully she slid the PaDD under and turned to leave. If that didnt finally incriminate him nothing would. Re: MISSION 2.3 - The Ancestral Trail - BRIEFING

OOC: Another joint post between me and Sonak LOL This rounds off the main part of the mission. so feel free to tie up any loose ends

Tedak entered the office and held out the sheathed Honour Blade to the Trill admiral. "I believe you may want this investigated," he said quietly, "I didn't even have to beg for it. She gave it back without much fuss."
"So I can see." Magellan replied , "Oh and do come in Ambassador" he smiled wryly
Tedak bowed ever so slightly. "Thank you admiral," he said, as he stepped further into the office. Carefully, he placed the blade on Magellan's desk. "What now?" he asked
"Now you take that and sheath it."
Tedak looked puzzled. "But it is sheathed admiral," he said, pointing at the leather sheath.
"well take it - whatever - I have no need for a romulan knife. What is more important is what you and Krotak said" Magellan answered pushing the blade back towards Tedak

Tedak smiled devlishly and revealed a small 20th century cassette recorder. "These items really are quite useful," he said, as he placed the little electronic device on the desk. He pressed the rewind button and let it play the conversation between them.
It began well the odd pleasantry, well veiled threat but pretty soon dissolved into static. "A good try" Magellan nodded, "The magnetic field of most anti listening devices distorts most recorders even the old ones." He leaned closer and listened hard, "There are bits and bobs in teh static, we maybe able to extract something, I give it to Alari to see whether anything incriminating is still there. But what about in your words, what did you say about your being free?"
"I told her that I was released on probation but still under suspiscion of espionage. I had hoped to cause a little scene about getting my weapon back but no such luck. However, she said she had located the Debrune. This worries me admiral, for she said she has broken into JakDor's communications. I did tell her that by now that transgression would've been discovered, and the Debrune safely relocated. I could not tell whether she was lying or not, after all I am not a Vulcan or another telepath."
He paused a few seconds. "She also wanted me to upload Romulan propaganda to the embassy network but I told her where to put her propaganda. I am an ambassador, I serve the empire and the truth, not a deceitful senate."
"hmm" Magellan nodded thoughtfully, "Good and bad news there then. It looks as if shes taken the bait. But it looks as if she has already achieved her goal. I expect it wasnt the refugee Debrune she wanted to contact but the militant rebels that oppose Jak'dor. They may well welcome Romulan assistance"
Suddenly Magellans comm badge chirped
"Excuse me." He placed it on confidential so Tedak could only hear what he was saying.
"He has. Good....Okay... everything is secure...Excellent... Okay I ll inform Tedak. Magellan out"
"Something wrong admiral?" Tedak enquired carefully.
Magellan says:
"Quite the reverse you are off the hook. Perhaps you ll accompany me to the brig to see for yourself."

***

Krotak steathily left the bedroom and entered the living space, she got halfway across the room before the door opened flooding the room with light.
"Ah Senator Krotak we were expecting you" Tomlinson grinned from the doorway, "Perhaps you d like to accompnay us to the brig" Krotak froze and began to bluff her way out with her mask but realised her plan was scuppered and reluctantly deactivated it and went with the officer.

***

Magellan led Tedak down to the brig and opened the door to reveal Krotak hunched in the brig.
Magellan says:
"There you go ambassador" he said
"Deihu Krotak," Tedak said, his voice dripping with scorn, "and here you thought that my threats were empty, and that you could get away with it. You may be lucky if you get sold and get assigned as hru'hfe, though if we have our way, you will be lower than the lowest servant." He turned to Magellan, and smiled weakly. "Thank you admiral."
"Your welcome. We knew that if she thought youd escape the charges shed try and plant more evidence it was just convincing her to try. Nevertheless you realise this doesnt mean much. She ll no doubt get off."
"No she won't," Tedak said coldly, "not if I have a say in it. She tried to frame me, tried to dishonour me and my family. I still have a few friends in the Senate, people I know I can trust. If we can get the evidence to them, she will be executed for treason."
He glared in the direction of the cell. "Either that, or I will kill her myself. Mnhei'sahe admiral, I doubt you'll understand."
"No I wouldnt. And you wont do it on my station or else it will be the last thing you ever do here. As for her, we'll charge her, her raid did injure starfleet officers, but I expect her to be extradited to Romulus within a month or so. The Federation may even be able to use her as leverage to get some 'political' prisoners released. Now I best get back to Ops and I suggest you forget about this and spend some time with that child of yours."

Tedak nodded, bowed ever so slightly and backed out of the holding cell area. It grated at him that the senator would probably go free, and if that were the case, he and his family would be in extreme danger. Yet he knew the admiral was right, if he killed the senator, even because of The Ruling Pashion, his career would most definately be over.

Yet there was something he had to do first, before he went to spend some quality time with his son. "Computer, locate Ambassador Saarok." he called, as he thought of his two firelizards. THe due instantly came swooping in, chirping happily and engaging in aeareal antics.

=^= Ambassador Saarok is in his office =^=

Tedak smiled and walked down the maze of corridors to his friend's office. Only then did he take notice of the still stinging pain in his hand, and did he remember that he'd been cut. Quietly, and shaking his head in mild amusement, he merely gripped onto his robe tightly in an attempt to staunch the bleeding.

"Ambassador," Tedak announced by way of greeting, bowing lightly, "I am pleased to inform you that I have been cleared of all charges."

Paul was sitting in his office when K'Tor arrived. He already knew that Tedak rejected his offer to free him, but no matter he would settle the score with the Romulan senator himself. She costs him a lot of money and a top of that spoiled his plans with the meeting of the crime syndicate he organized on Assailant. Out of many things he was and did he never let people go free when they caused problems for him and the senator would be no different.

"Sir, the romulan has been arrested, seems like they found some evidence to accuse her.", K'Tor said

"I have a feeling that it will not keep her for too long I am sure that a request is already coming from the Romulan senate that she be released and delivered to them and that they will "punish" her."; Paul said

"It's time to deal with her myself.", he said

"Ger Jimmy to forge a permission from the admiral for me to visit the senator right away", Paul said

"And get two engineers to sabotage the EPS conduits in the brig, I want it to fry her good", he added

"It will be done", K’Tor added

"Get everyone together, we're leaving after i pay the visit to our dear senator.", Paul said

--Later in the brig--

Paul, Lena, K’Tor 2 security guys and a computer expert entered the brig.

"Hold it right there", one of the base security guards said, his hand going for the phaser

"Relax, lt.", Paul said as he showed the pad to the guard

It contained permission from adm. Lin for him to visit senator Krotak.

"Ah, sorry ambassador, please go right ahead", the man said

After Paul proceeded to Krotak’s cell, he asked the security to stand back, and they agreed eventually. He deactivated the forcefield and entered her cell.

"Senator Krotak", he said

"Ambassador, what brings you here"; she asked

"I have com here to inform you that you have spoiled my plans, cost me money and that you are going to pay for it.", he said

"The Orion Syndicate does not forgive those who get in their way, and you will not live to tell the tale of my visit"; he said

"The EPS conduit near your cell will overload soon, and will cause an unpleasant death for you. That way I will have some sort of comfort knowing that you will not get in my way again", he said and left reactivating the force field

<Krotak>

After that was done he thanked the security guards and he and his group proceed towards the docking bays.

--On the docking bay deck--

Paul and his group were walking down the corridor that appeared to be oddly deserted after a few minutes of walk two men transported in front of them. Paul's guard pulled out their weapons but after the men transported in they were wearing Starfleet security uniforms.

"Ambassador Castellan"; one of them asked

"Yes"; Paul said

"In the name of the United Federation of Planets you are hear bye sentenced to death, the sentence will be enforced now."; when the man finished and before anyone could react, he and his companion pulled out romulan disruptors and fired on the Ambassador

When Paul saw the blasts flying towards him he knew he was done for.

"Take care of Lena ple...", was all he could say before the blasts hit him in the chest.

Even before he fell to the ground the two officers transported out, leaving his security guards with no target to attack. K'Tor ran up to Paul as he was falling to the ground and caught him seconds before he hit the floor.

"Sir, you will be okay we will get help, and we will captures these cowards and make them pay", K’Tor said

With his dying breath Paul could not say much. He could feel life running out of him, he had a minute, two at most before he died.

"No, ... leave me here", he said

"I .... am..... done .....for. Ttthey....were friends of ......ambassador....Saarok.....he.......doesn’t .......remember. yet..........but .......hhe......will. Tttake....my....place.....and .....go.....go......now..........."; he said as he collapsed, he was dead

"We're leaving now", K'Tor yelled as he grabbed Lena and carried her of Pauls body there was no time to lose they had to be gone before the death was discovered

--A bit later--

"This is ambassadorial transport nr. 556-96 requesting permission to undock"

"This is Assailant control, permission granted, good luck ambassadorial transport nr. 556-96."

And with those words the ship that brought ambassador Castellan to Assailant undocked from the station and as soon as they were at a safe distance from the Base, they jumped to warp.

"Warp 9 engage"; growled K'Tor as the ship vanished in warp but before they did, K'Tor activated the EPS conduit overload which killed Senator Krotak as a last thing he would do for his former boss, it was his way of saying good bye.

Saarok was attempting to remember how he knew about the weapons he never saw before in his life but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember. Just as he was preparing to leave it and meditate Tedak arrived in his office.

"Ah, ambassador Tedak, it is indeed logical that you were cleared of all charges. After all admirals Drew and Magellan are not as incapable as one could expect from those who lack logic.", Saarok said

"I trust you will be taking a short vacation with your child?", Saarok asked
