In
response, Tedak moved towards the girl, and stayed between her and
Tomlinson's line of fire. He glared at the admiral for a moment.
"Affinity, yes. I found her and brought her here. Yet, now she does
not want me to leave, watch."
In demonstration, he walked
away from the girl and out of her line of sight, upon which she woke
up and screamed again. She didn't stop screaming until he returned
to her line of sight. When he returned, she clung to him like an
infant would to her father. Gently he disentangled her fingers from
his robes and guided her back to the bed.
"It's all right
now, I'm not going anywhere," he whispered to her, then returned to
Magellan. "It is quite disturbing, how am I to go about my duties
when this girl won't let me leave her side? I cannot begin to guess
what will happen if I leave sickbay to attend to my duties, and my
firelizards. I have not dared calling them here, as I fear what she
may do to
them." | |
