| My gear: I usually play... an '04 Reverend USA Wolfman with a Bigsby trem or an '00 Gibson SG Classic with single coil P-90 pickups plugged into a Boss TU2 tuner followed by a Dunlop 535Q Crybaby wah wah pedal. My signal then goes into a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special class A tube amp. That's about it. For a little effect I run a Visual Sound H2O liquid chorus/echo foot pedal through my amps effects loop. I get a pretty good faux organ sound, rich chorus, short slapback delay, or longer delays for rocked out solos. I use D'Addario strings. I also play: '03 Fender Geddy Lee jazz model electric bass '08 Markbass CMD 121P bass amp '09 Godin 5th Avenue "Kingpin" archtop acoustic '98 Martin D15 all solid mahogany flattop acoustic '86 Dauphin G60 solid spruce top classical '98 Baby Taylor 3/4 size solid spruce top acoustic I sing live through a Shure SM 58 mic I record live with a Zoom H2 |

* I started playing when I received a Hondo II electric guitar (Les Paul copy) & an old Crate amp for my 16th birthday. * I never took any lessons but I always kept my eyes & ears open to learn anything that I could. I really had a desire to be a better guitarist/musician. I practiced a lot in those days. * After high school I went to the Univ of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and took 3 quarters of classical guitar (among other classes). That is the extent of my formal musical training. I never took any high school music classes, lessons, or participated in school band. * After college, I began giving guitar lessons at a local music store. I then moved on to work at another music store where I also gave lessons. I taught guitar/music in one form or another for the next 12 years: out of my home, in my student's homes, continuing education programs, the Childrens Music Association, etc. I am now on a very long self-imposed teaching sabatical. * In the early 90's I played out on a regular basis for the first time with a pop/classic rock cover band called MATRIX. We played all over the greater Cincinnati area for a couple of years before splitting up. It was a very fun time. * While in MATRIX, I was a finalist in the Cincinnati's Best Rock Guitarist contest sponsered by Buddy Rogers Music stores. I played an un-accompanied rock guitar solo at hard rock heaven...Annies. I received some good scores but no cigar. * Since MATRIX & teaching I have played freelance & done several projects including: wedding ceremonys, played guitar on aspiring country vocalists demos at the Mustang Recording studio, composed/copyrighted the music & played acoustic guitars with Jerry on www.drlaundy.net self help cd, and work on writing some of my own music & hack songwriting. (fyi...last time I checked Dr. Laundy site was down) |
