York Minster From the West
Here is the Minster from the West. I think that the large stained glass window is the largest surviving the medieval period.

Evidently, during the reign of one of the Henrys (I think it was VII), most of the Catholic Churches were destroyed...except for the York Minster. It seems that he wanted a capitol for the northern region of England, and the Minster was very convenient.

I'm not sure if this is historically accurate, but I did notice large alcoves on the exterior of the Minster where there would normally be statues of Saints, but now there was just an empty alcove. You can see it on the lowest photo, on the left, on either side of the door and above.
