The Museum Gardens. I went to hear about the archaelogical history of York. In between me and this goal was three classrooms of fourth-graders. I enjoyed myself in their chaotic learning. I especially appreciated the tour guide trying to teach British History to children. He started to talk about Pre-romans and Romans (Yawn, fidgit). Then, he led the kids over to a roman skull with a nice cleave-mark on the frontal. His tour went something like this: "You see this skull, and that hole? Well, this guy was hit in the head with one of these big swords (Wow!) BUT, he didn't die from that alone. When he fell, an enemy leaped on him (gasp) and gutted him with a spear! (aaugh!) It was great to watch.

The two people in this photo really made my day. It was a cold, overcast day, and I was on my daily walk through the city. Most everyone was dressed in drab blacks, browns, greens or other bland tones. Suddenly, these two COLORful people walked into my life. I didn't meet them, but it was great just to watch them. The man on the right had blue and green yarn braided into his hair, and the girl had pink and black braided into hers. I just started walking behind them, watching their colors flutter in the wind. Even more entertaining were the people who passed them, and each one invariably did a double take. Sublime.

This is a tree outside of my room at Croft. One weekend, I was empty of ideas for writing. Nothing, nada, nero-zero. So, I was sitting underneath this tree in the cold, trying desperately to force creativity, which is near impossible. I was getting frustrated, and I hung my head off the edge of the park bench where I was sitting. That's when I looked up and thought, "Man, that tree would make a good picture." So I lay down on the ground, took the photo, and continued to think about what to write. I eventually wrote something pretty good, and I have the tree to thank for it. Thank you, tree.
