SURFACES
My laughter echoes though the half-filled carriage
Your smiling face and waves fade into the distance
My face distorts
as I press against the window
searching for a final glance of you
I smile to myself as I reminisce our weekend
More memories stored for times apart
Smiling, knowing there’ll be more to come
You gently kissed each bruise and injury
sustained from my clumsiness
Your arms, a wall of comfort
as I unsuccessfully fought to hold back the tears.
Seeing you standing there
wearing a white T
blue workman’s overalls
tied around your waist
made me so wet
Devilish glances exchanged
With each floorboard laid
“One more surface to christen”
