Smial Central

Welcome to Smial Central! Sorry, no hobbits here, but there are links to download a cool new client that Paleran is creating. Well, not really creating as he stole almost all of the code from a previous developer. But, he is closely working with the hardcoders of Elendor (like there's any other but Lukthil) to create the ideal MUSH-client interface. The client, originally called Pueblo, was intended for rich VRML worlds, but for most likely numerous reasons, never reached it's potential. Too bad, as it does seem quite cool.

Hear ye, hear ye, there is a new version up now! Sorry I don't have many details, as I've let this go for long enough that I forget what I did. :) Give it a whirl!

So, on with the reason you are here. I will try to place news clips here on my progress...

September 21st: Okay, here's the first release. Smial 0.01 is available for download.

Just as before, please use it with the knowledge that it's a beta and there may be problems. At this point, it should replicate the old Pueblo as far as most of you are concerned. In coming releases, I would request that you start beating on it by doing all sorts of stuff to find any problems, but for now just use it normally, please. :)

Feature list:
* Removed VRML and sound modules, reducing the size of the exe and number of potential problems. If you experience any GPFs, please remember what you had done to invoke it. It may be as simple of an answer as "Using for more than 2 hours", but the more information I have, the better I'll be able to replicate it. I've been using this version for quite some time now without any crashes *crosses fingers*.

* Disconnecting from a world doesn't pop up a dialog box and throw you back to the world list. I removed that because I wanted to see the history from the world before I disco'd, and that #$%! dialog box prevented me. Gone. :) Added a menu item to 'world' to return to the initial 'world list' window. Going to add more functionality there eventually for easier world access (including quick connects to defined worlds).

* /isize added for adjusting the input edit window size. I can't figure out how to make the window resizeable using the mouse, so this is a temporary solution to not have to play with the preferences page.

* Silly splash screen has a dumb bitmap that I was using to play around with. Indabeorn has offered to create a more Tolkienish bitmap for there and the 'About' page. I haven't gotten around to shifting completely over to Smial yet. Just the splash screen and a few other instances. Going to do it globally for the next release.

September 18th: My one for now is "soon"! Smial 0.1 to come. Currently waiting to get /more support in and fix @pue/edit before releaing. This version has no GPFs that I've been able to see, and completely removes the VRML and sound modules, thereby reducing the size dramatically. Expected DOR: September 24th
