Summary
of Actions
We reviewed WASC Action Plans
and the upcoming year’s embedded time.
We generated several
meaningful frameworks for the WASC Action Plans that helped to organize last
year’s work. Jacquie and Behrooz are going to meet to distill the various frameworks
into one that will serve to orient the faculty and staff.
We determined that with more
embedded meeting time and with WASC Action Plans needing to be satisfied, a
slightly new school structure is needed. We developed the overview of that
structure.
New
Structure
Everyone will be on two
committees: their subject specific learning team; their school-WASC action team
(SWAT).
Learning Team—course specific
and determined through individual department members and chair. These are a
continuation of previous teams’ work or are focused on new work that is
centered around curricula for classes.
SWAT— issue oriented, product
and artifact driven. Team can be part of an established group dealing with the
WASC framework or team can propose their own work through a process. Individual
SWATs will be approved by SLT at the
We decided on a loose
structure for the September 15 Staff Development Day. We delegated tasks to be
completed before next meeting. The goal for this day is to begin work on the
WASC Action Plans. We hope to have people identify a SWAT to work on this year.
On September 11, the SLT will
approve the SDD agenda and the WASC Framework, and the SWAT proposal form.
On September 19, those staff
members who did not attend SDD will attend a make-up session to join or create
SWAT(s). Proposals for the make-up SWAT are due with the other proposals on
September 22.
New
Members
The SLT hopes to expand its
membership to include new members such as the WASC focus-group leaders, union
representatives, librarian, etc. Any
recommendations for at-large members are welcome.
