Me & My Hamsters
I got my first hamster when I was about 7 years old, and have had them (almost) ever since. My first hamster was a golden Syrian I got from my friend's older sister. Her name was Baby, she was unhandleable and elderly, but I loved her to death! My second hamster, a long-haired cream Syrian, (also named Baby) is still my favorite hamster. He was so sweet, and loved to be held and played with. My third hamster was a golden dominant spot banded. He was named Honey, and lived to the ripe old age of 3. I didn't have hamster for about 2 years after Honey, but then I got the bug again, and I for the first time, bought "Gabby" from a breeder. Gabby was a beautiful golden umbrous Syrian, and she won many ribbons every time I showed her. She has 14 or more to her credit. She died of a uterine infection in February 2003. I then decided to try having a pair of Campbells dwarfs, and in March I aquired Tyler (opal/dark grey) and Micah (dark grey), from the same breeder. They are/were so precious, and I love them to pieces! Tyler is still with me. After them I made room for another Syrian. I adopted Ryley from a friend. He was always on the move! He succumbed to the smoke from local fires, and died in my lap November 1st, 2003. I'd lost Micah the day before Ryley, and wasn't sure I was ready to adopt anymore hamsters, but there were 12 abandoned in a garbage can and turned into a local shelter. A kind shelter worker saved them from a probable second death at the shelter, and after contacting her I knew I had to have one of these little furries. And so came Kalel & Winnie. :) So that's my hamster history!

When I got Gabby and started taking her to shows I was infected with hamster addiction... and I've never been the same since. :) My hamster addiction has taught me a lot, and I've learned many things I'd used with my previous hamsters are dangerous. I don't want others making the same mistakes I did, so I've created this website to provide hamster owners with important information they may not know, and especially about dangerous hamster products on the market today. So I hope you learn from this site how to better care for your hamster! Thanks for reading. -K
My Current Hamsters
Name: Tessa
Sex: Female
D.O.B: Unknown

Tessa is a normal Campbells dwarf. I'm fostering her for a rescue. She's missing a rear foot, but gets along quite nicely! She doesn't enjoy being handled at all, but loves being talked to. :)
Name: Tyler Rain
Sex: Male
D.O.B: February 18, 2003

Tyler is a dark grey/opal, Campbells dwarf. He's a momma's boy, 'cause he had fur loss problems when I first got him, so he took some special care. He's very sweet, like his brother, and is usually pretty mellow, but he has his wild moments. lol He's my favorite color in the Campbell's, and he and Micah were my first pair of dwarfs.Ty now lives alone after the death of Micah, and he loves his play times with Mommy. :)
Name: Miette Nova Scotia
Sex: Female
D.O.B: October 11, 2003

Miette is a Roborovski. She lives with her sister Atara. I call her my French-Canadian hamster, because of her name. Miette means "small sweet thing" in French, and she is just that. :)
Name: Atara Devan
Sex: Female
D.O.B: October 11, 2003

Atara is a white-faced Roborovski, which are pretty rare right now. The white-faced gene was imported from Sweden. She's faster than Miette, and when I saw how crazy she was, I knew I had to have her. :) Her cheeks are full in this picture.
