Washington Irving is the Adult Education component of the Schenectady City School District. The Center is located at 422 Mumford Street, Schenectady, NY 12307-1705 with satellite locations throughout the City of Schenectady. Washington Irving offers classes for High School Equivalency (GED), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Computer Technology/Business Applications, and Adult Life Skills.
High School Equivalency (GED) /Adult Literacy Classes are now being offered at the Schenectady Municipal Housing Steinmetz Homes, Family Investment Center, and at Yates Village, Apartment E-36, above the Community Center. The current schedule is:
Steinmetz Homes Family Investment Center - Monday - Wednesday - Friday
Yates Village Apt. E-36 - Tuesday & Thursday
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
GED classes are FREE and open to anyone age 21 and above who does not yet have a high school diploma or GED earned in the continental United States.
Interested individuals can start at any time the classes are in session. All instruction is individualized based on the student's needs.
