What a shocker! TV HITS MAGAZINE JANUARY 1998 Issue #113

Sarah Michelle Gellar is Hollywood's newest horror babe! She's hitting our TV'S in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and hotting up the big screens in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2! Eeeschk... how much fear can a girl handle?

After playing the tough chick in Buffy, you're playing the girl who screams and runs away in I Know What You Did Last Summer!

Yeah, I'm the chick in the woods. It was interesting and hard at first because I had this desire to turn around and punch the guy!

Are you recognised on the street now?
It's the older men, the married men, that come up! (laughs) I'm still at the stage where if somebody stars at me, I think there's something wrong with me. I'm always looking down at myself, wondering whether I have food all over me! Or is my zipper undone? But I don't really go anywhere because I work seven days a week.

Are you dating anyone special at the moment?
I don't talk about my personal life! I've found that for me the main reason that I can keep my own personality and my sanity, is my keeping a life that's completely separate from what I do. I will say that dating is difficult! I work seven days a week. There were days I'd finish Scream 2 at six or seven in the morning and go straight to Buffy! It's also very difficult to meet people who aren't actors, and I'm not interested in dating actors.

How did you cope with those hours?
I don't know! I don't know how Neve Campbell did it - although Neve doesn't work as many days as I do on Buffy.

You could guest star in Party of Five!
Yeah in my spare time I'll join Party of Five. (laughs) Neve and I did make a nice connection. She's a couple years ahead of me in her career and a couple years older - and she's an amazing person! Through all of this she's kept who she is, she's an amazingly grounded woman and a smart woman and a talented actor!

Can you tell us about Scream 2?
No! (laughs)

Does your character live or die?
I don't know. I love the fact that they're trying to keep it as secret as possible. As of our script pages had a black bar through the centre so you couldn't photocopy them. We called it the "James Bond paper"! Every page had your character number on it, so if a page was found anywhere they'd know who it belonged to! I can tell you it picks up two years after the first Scream. Neve's character has started college and I play one of the girls at college.
