STAR-CROSSED PART4: HEROIC DEEDS AND TRUTHS OF HEART By MoonKlutz Drop the disclaimers and shoot 'em again -Blueseed DISCLAIMERS: characters etc belongs to Nakoko-sensei, story belongs to ME! When last we left our heroes: Serena and Darien got together (finally!) and were enjoying the sunset when a youma attacked... Serena got Darien (who knows she's the moon princess, though she herself doesn't) to go away so she could transform. Unfortunately he saw her. Sailor Moon attacked the monster but fell on her weak ankle and is about to become nega-dust.... Uh Oh! Klutz better do something fast! A rose flashed through the air between the youma and Sailor Moon, slicing partly through the youma's tough outer hide on its arm. "Only a coward would prey on innocent teenagers late at night!" came the familiar voice of everyone's favorite cape-boy. "Tuxedo Mask, you came!" cried Sailor Moon as she tried to stand up. "Ahhh!" She cried out in pain again and fell to the ground. There was a flash of black and white and Tuxedo Mask kneeled in front of Sailor Moon. "Don't get up Sailor Moon. You ankle is not strong enough yet. You should have stayed off it." He said while throwing a barrage of roses at the youma. Sailor Moon looked at Tuxedo Mask strangely. 'How did he know I had twisted my ankle?' she wondered silently. "Use your tiara now Sailor Moon!" Tuxedo Mask called, stepping out of the way. "MOON, TIARA, STARDUST!" She cried whipping her tiara at the monstrosity before her. There was never even a chance for it, it was beyond moon dusted. "Totally dusted!" she cheered happily. Then she turned around and saw Tuxedo Mask was still there. "Tuxedo Mask, you're still here? You're usually gone!" "Yeah, well today changed some things for me." He said simply. "I'll carry you home, you can't walk on that yet." He said scooping her up in his arms. "I, I was here with someone. He'll wonder where I am..." she trailed off at the look in Tuxedo Mask's eyes. "He knows, I... told him I'd take care of it." He said looking away. He couldn't stand lying to her. Serena was confused. Why was Tuxedo Mask acting so strangely? And how did he know where she lived? "You, you know who I am, don't you?" she asked quietly. "Yes." He said almost sadly, "Yes, I do..." he trailed off. Serena tapped her broach and watched as the ribbons of light quickly unattached themselves from her and disappeared into the locket, and now Serena was in Tuxedo Mask's arms. He put her down at the end of her driveway. "See you around..." he said over his shoulder as he flew away. "See you around..." she whispered to the night before limping inside and into bed. The next day, Serena stayed home from school to have her ankle checked out by the doctor and crutches. She hobbled out the door at two in the afternoon, heading for the arcade. Darien wandered the streets aimlessly. His professor had let them out early, Serena was probably at home in bed and he had absolutely nothing to do. He looked at his watch. '2:15 p.m. How dull is that?' Darien continued down the street until he saw a familiar pair of meatballs bobbing through the crowd. 'Serena!' he thought happily. His heart practically leapt out of his chest as he made his way towards her. "Hey Meatballhead!" he called out. Serena turned around just as she had been about to enter the arcade. She smiled. "Hi Darien!" she waved to him with her free hand as he made his way over to her. "What are you doing out? Azabu doesn't get out until three!" "We were let out early today. Oh here, you, uh, forgot this." He said pulling out the Tuxedo Mask doll he had won for her the day before. Serena took it and smiled. "Thanks! Are you coming? I thought I'd play a few games before the crowd gets here." She said happily. "Sure, why not?" he replied and they entered the arcade. "Hi Andrew!" Serena called. "Hey Serena! Hey Darien, long time no see! What'd you do to your ankle?" he asked, going from cheerful too concerned. "I twisted it in the haunted house at the carnival. Should be fine in a few days." She said lightly, shrugging it off. "Alright then." Andrew agreed, trusting her. She always seemed to be able to handle these things on her own, somehow... "You've got Sailor V to yourself, so go wild! I'll be in back." He said and walked away. Serena sat down at the machine leaning the doll and her crutches against the side and plunking a quarter in the slot, selecting 'bunny' off the players list. "BAM! Take that nega-dweeb! Ha Ha! Totally Moon Dusted!" she cried out, laughing and jostling the controls. "Oh rats. Died again... I just can't do this if I'm not in the right mood!" she said standing up and hobbling over to the crane game. "Maybe..." Darien watched mildly amused ass she moved the crane around the small box. Eventually she stopped and pressed the red button. He was surprised when the crane came back up and dropped a Sailor Moon doll down the chute to an eagerly waiting Serena. She picked it up and smiled, handing it to Darien. "You won me a Tuxedo Mask doll, so it's only fair I win you a Sailor Moon!" Darien took the doll and smiled, tracing his fingers over it's features, then looked up at Serena. "Thanks Serena. She's my favorite." He said and smiled before he kissed her lightly on the cheek. Serena blushed and smiled back. She had no idea how ironic giving him that gift was. "Let's go do something. This day was majorly boring before I found you." She said and they walked out the door smiling, oblivious to the befuddled Andrew they had left behind. They wound up at Darien's apartment and Serena fell onto the couch with a sigh of relief. "Using those crutches is exhausting!" she sighed. Darien poured out two glasses of pop and handed one to Serena. She gulped it down and smiled when she was done. "Mmm! Thanks muffin, I really needed that." She said smiling. Darien smiled back unconsciously. He had been doing that a lot since he had met her. 'Muffin?' He didn't mind getting a nickname, but muffin? 'Oh well. That means I get to call her meatballhead!' It made him smile on inside she had called him that, but he would never admit it. "So what do you want to do?" he asked, taking a sip of his drink. "I dunno..." she said thoughtfully, wrinkling up her nose. "Maybe watch a movie?" she suggested. Darien liked that idea, they rarely actually watched the movie, and that was the point of it after all, not to watch the movie. "Alright," he said standing up and putting a tape in the VCR. He sat down again next to Serena and she lay her head on his shoulder as the opening credits flashed across the screen. Darien looked down at Serena. She had a faint smile on her face and she closed her eyes for a moment, smelling something. "What are you smelling?" he asked her curiously. He couldn't smell anything. Serena looked up at and sat up straighter, leaning against him. "You." She said simply. "Me?" he asked her, more confused than ever, he didn't wear cologne...? "Mmhm. I can't put my finger on it, but you smell really familiar. I feel like I should know what it is, but I can't quite remember..." she trailed off. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" he asked, feeling confused again. Serena looked up at him and laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him on the tip of his nose. Darien placed his arms around her waist and brushed his lips over hers. Her eyes fluttered shut and she leaned in closer, kissing him deeply, tracing her fingers over his back. Those few kisses became many and when the movie ended, Serena was nestled happily in against Darien, her head fitting perfectly under his chin, warm from the heat of his arms that were wrapped around her. Serena glanced at the clock from her little nest. 4:15. "I'd better go Darien. I'll see you tomorrow though right?" she asked hopefully. Darien smiled. "How could I go a day without seeing you?" he asked coyly. "Oh Darien, you say the sweetest things..." she said and gave him another sweet, lingering kiss before she got up, out of his arms, reaching for the crutches and Tuxedo Mask doll. Darien stood up reluctantly and saw her to the door. "Bye Serena! I'll see you tomorrow! I love you..." he said as she started out the door. Serena turned around and waved. "Love you!" she called before limping into the elevator. Serena hobbled in, up the stairs and into her room where she pulled out her Tuxedo Mask doll and set it down next to her pillow. "Where'd you get that?" Luna asked, hopping up on the bed. "Darien won it for me yesterday at the carnival." She said pulling her broach off her shirt and taking her communicator out of her pocket so she could change clothes. After she had re-dressed, she ran downstairs for dinner. @}----} 9:23 at the Tsukino household {----{@ Serena pulled on her pajamas, brought the sheets up under her chin and kissed the Tuxedo Mask doll on the cheek. "Goodnight Serena..." he whispered before he too, fell into a dream-filled sleep. @}---} In Darien and Serena's Dream {----{@ Serena was on a balcony, enveloped by fog. She was wearing a long, flowing white dress and felt very... royal. (An odd emotion for Serena at this point in her life.) She could see someone standing below her on the ground... Darien was Tuxedo Mask, as always and he stood below the balcony, looking up. Something was different this time, he knew. Serena's lips started to move of their own accord and she was shocked to feel another familiar mind speaking through her body. "Tuxedo Mask..." she whispered, barely audible, but somehow she knew that he would understand perfectly. "You must do as I tell you. Another mind is here with us. Soon you can set her free..." "Serena! Show me your face!" he cried. "I just want to see how it will be!" Serena tried to step forward, but the other mind pulled her back. 'I don't care!' she told it fiercely. 'I have to see who I share this dream with!' 'You're not ready...' it whispered back to her, but she stepped forward anyway and the mists parted around them as a swift wind swept the plain. The figure stepped into the light at the edge of the balcony. Tuxedo Mask gasped and took his mask and hat off. The eyes that looked Back at him were mixed. In them he saw the spirit that had spoken to him, but he also saw Serena. 'Serena? You're the one who came here?' he asked silently. Serena gazed down over the edge of the balcony. Tuxedo Mask was there. He gave her a searching look then gasped, removing his mask and hat. Now it was Serena's turn. "Darien!" she gasped. "Serena?" he asked uncertainly, but the dream was fading for both of them. "Sereeeeenaaa!!" he cried, reaching for her as they both awoke... To be continued next week! HAHAHAHA!!!
