When I was very young 
Nothing really mattered to me
But making myself happy
I was the only one.

I never really thought of the way you changed me. When I was 
young, I was taught the importance of routine and order but 
nothing really mattered much to me. I would go through the 
motions of each day without thinking or expecting much. I got 
up every morning, went to school, and listlessly listened to my 
instructor. As soon as that torture was over, I'd head out to 
my favorite hangout. Like clockwork, I would go in with the 
intention of visiting Andrew and run into you. 

It was always you.

Now that I am grown
Everything's changed
I'll never be the same

Our frustrating little conversations gave me some purpose at 
first. Initially, it was to see who could annoy each other 
more. It was a little disconcerting to find someone who would 
affect me the way you did. I never knew how much I had changed 
nor why. I looked forward to each day of running into you with 
an intensity that could overwhelm a person. Eventually, I 
realized it was you all along, always you.

Looking at my life
It's very clear to me 
I've lived so selfishly
I was the only one.

Every little venture into the night to fight side by side gave 
me a purpose in life. Parting ways after a battle made me see 
how very alone I truly was. It was a shock to find the one 
person who fit me like no other. I had never realized how much 
I had wanted to be by your side, whether it was fighting 
against evil or just bickering about hairstyles. I just wanted 
to be with you, always you.

I realize
That nobody wins

And something begins.

No matter how much we bickered, it was inevitable that we would 
realize that no one wins. We were fighting a losing battle. But 
I welcomed it. For me, it meant the end of my solitude without 
you. But, it also meant a new beginning. With you, always you.

I chuckled out loud thinking of those days long gone. My 
independent and routine-driven lifestyle is now something of a 
joke. I don't know how I ever managed to get through those 
lonely days without you. Just a look from you, let alone a 
smile, is more than enough to get me through each day.

that the next time you call me Meatball Head."
