No One's Fault Epilogue Author: Patch E-mail: patchkhan1@hotmail.com Rating: PG-13 *2 years later* Usagi woke up automatically, her instinct guiding her. She got up and turned to kiss her husband lightly before getting off the bed. Slipping on a robe, she left the room, through the opened adjoining door. She walked over to the crib and stared down at Chibi-Usa, her big eyes already open, staring at her mother quietly. "You knew I was coming, didn't you?" Usagi whispered, picking her up. "You didn't have to cry or scream, you already knew I would be here, right on schedule." The two-month-old smiled in response, showing her toothless gums. Usagi giggled quietly and sat down on a cushioned chair, near the crib. She removed the top part of her nightgown and breastfed her daughter. As Usagi sat there, soaking in the sun's rays she thought back to all that happened. It had taken a while for things to return to 'normal'. The pain of losing their child was not something that could be easily forgotten or made better. They had decided that Chibi-Usa had plenty of time before she would make her grand appearance into the world and they focused on their lives and the lives of their people. Then one night, on the day of Mamoru's birthday Usagi had done something completely scandalous. She smiled remembering the memory. Mamoru had been pulled away for important meetings, much to Usagi's disappointment. The others had said she could wait a day or two but Usagi had found out what hotel room he was staying at. When he had returned to his room from one of the meetings, he had found a big cake awaiting him. Before he could even call security, at that moment Usagi surprised him by coming out of the very *hollow* cake wearing a nightgown... that really couldn't be considered a nightgown. It *really* did not look like a nightgown, as Mamoru had said, his mouth hanging open. Suffice to say, it had been a very enjoyable birthday and Usagi was sure that had been the night Chibi-Usa had been conceived. And now, here she was, holding a miracle, a miracle created from her and Mamoru's love (AN: how cliché ^_~). She was startled from her musings when two warm hands settled on her shoulders. She looked up smiling. "Good morning, love. You're just in time," she said quietly. "Am I? For what?" Mamoru asked, one eyebrow arched. "For Chibi-Usa's bath. You are going to help me," she said getting up. She handed Chibi-Usa to him so he could burp her and then went about getting the bath ready. They went into the bathroom where a plastic tub had been placed on a high table near the windows. Usagi filled it with lukewarm water and placed the baby things near it. "Okay," she said turning around, "you have to place Chibi-Usa in the tub." She saw her husband visibly gulp and come closer. "It's okay Mamo-chan," she said softly, "you'll do fine." She helped him place their daughter in the tub and she taught him how to hold her, by supporting her from the back and holding onto her arm gently. Usagi gave him the soap and he rubbed it into his hand and then lathered Chibi-Usa's body. "See? You're doing just fine," Usagi said, encouragingly. "This... is... incredible," Mamoru whispered, as he took the small pail of water and poured it over her body. Chibi-Usa continued to stare at them as though she were assessing them, her big eyes blinking at times. "She's much quieter than you could probably ever be," he said teasingly. "Oh hush, just concentrate on getting our daughter clean." He laughed and focused his attentions back to Chibi-Usa. It really was an incredible thing, he thought, looking down at her. She was so tiny and so precious that a surge of protection overwhelmed him. He glanced out of the corner of his eye to see Usagi... his Usako. She was smiling and cooing at their baby, making odd baby noises. She happened to look at him at that moment and realized he was staring at her. She blushed becomingly, lowering her gaze. "I can't help it," she said embarrassed. Still holding on to Chibi-Usa, he took one hand and tipped his wife's chin up. Smiling tenderly he bent his head and gave her a lingering kiss. "I know," he said. "You haven't seen me in action." Her eyes brightened with merriment and she giggled at the picture of Mamoru making baby noises. "I can only imagine," she replied, giggling some more. They continued to tease each other as they finished bathing Chibi-Usa. A small family of three that was held by a love and strength so strong, it made the Fates feel envious. But the Fates smiled at each other, knowing that they had accomplished their job well, good intentions in mind. ~*~*The End*~*~ Aaaaaaaah, does anyone else remember me saying that I wouldn't write a fic as long as this after Betrothed???
