So please enjoy! “That was what happened?” Katherine said two days later, looking at Serena from the other side of the booth. She was sitting next to Darien, who was sitting next to Amy who was at the end of the booth. Serena was next to Raye and Mina. Lita preferred to stand at the edge of the table, saying she had to go somewhere soon anyway. Darien and Serena nodded their heads. “So....what? Are you courting? Or are you....getting to be friends....” “I would say being friends.” “Wow. Hey, that’s cool. I’m totally up for it! I mean, after seeing you guys fight all the time, being friends would be the perfect first step. I mean, you were courting in the Silver Millennium, but if you went for this, totally cool.” Raye said, looking at Katherine, who was nodding her head in agreement. “So don’t think about giving us some cheep advice, okay Raye?’ Serena said, glaring at Raye. “Ooh, cheep. She’s gonna get it now.” Katherine whispered. Darien nodded. “Hey, maybe you should be talking to yourself Meatball Brains!” “Hey, cut it out you two! You guys are driving me crazy!” Katherine said, extending her arms. “Do they always act like this??” “Yes.” everybody answered in unison. Katherine hung her head down, a sweat drop following. “Oh, boy. The rest of my life is going to be very interesting.” Across the distant universe, far past the Solar System, through the areas of oblivion where no man had ever traveled, all was at peace. The stars twinkled in the black sky, and the distant galaxies, millions of light years away from each other, shone with a light from their own suns. But in one of these systems, something was disturbed. Inside one of the demonic-crystal like shaped starship from the planet Nemesis, Prince Amatite, third heir to the Negamoon Kingdom, stood over a pile of maps that made up the small planet of Earth. His pale eyes, hardly the shade of brown, scouted over a small piece of land called Japan, where the future Crystal Tokyo would be. Disgusted, he turned his head to the thirty inch screen communicator behind him, and called in a raspy voice, “Diamond, are you sure this is the place?” In a quick second, the slightly fuzzy picture of Prince Diamond came on the screen, his tired face visible behind the fuzz occurring on the screen every now and then. “Yes, Tokyo, Japan. That is where the location of Crystal Tokyo will be.” “And what good will it do if I capture one of the past Sailor Scouts and bring them here with me? I can’t do my job and watch one of those brats at the same time!” “Your job,” Diamond said sternly, “Is to capture one of the Sailor Scouts and teleport them to us. Meanwhile, you attack the rest of them.” “And is it my strategy to capture Commander Adrian Williams because she is the Sailor Scout closest to the Neo King and Queen in the future?” “And to fight off the rest of them. Because of her abilities she is just learning, she would be a great allie for the Negamoon Family. And I know that Sapphire will have the time of his life training and brainwashing her.” “But why her? Nowadays, she is known as Katherine James. Apparently, she is being bothered enough by her future and past husband.” “She won’t accept that he is her soul mate. When the time is right for an attack, preferably when the two of them are arguing, you attack her. Do you understand??” by this time, Diamond was yelling at the screen. “Whatever you say, dear brother. Give my regards happily to Wiseman.” “Hey Katherine, can I ask you something?” Serena asked, sucking through the straw in her drink. “Yeah, sure. Go ahead.” “What is it with you and that Michael Williams guy anyway?” Katherine lurched her head. “You mean the guy with blonde hair, blue eyes, and an ego the size of the Starlight Tower?” “Michael Williams? He’s in all of my classes! He talks about you a lot.” Darien said, hoping that this conversation that they were going to wasn’t going to destroy a nerve in Katherine’s mind. “Why am I not surprised.” Katherine mumbled. “Yay! I knew it! The Sailor Scout of Love always gets her match!!” Mina said, snapping her fingers. Katherine groaned, and hung her head down again. “I was talking to him once. He got to his locker, and he had all sorts of pictures around them. When he asked me to help him, I saw that all of them were pictures of you.” “WHAT?” Katherine yelled, balling her fists. “Sorry to break the news on you, but he is really strung up on you.” “Great. Just great. Not only do I know that he has blonde hair, blue eyes, and an ego the size of Starlight Tower, but he is spying on me! Mina, if you could be any help to me, blind that guy so he can stop driving me crazy!” she yelled, waving her hands on all sorts of different motions. “Why should I help you? Weren’t you and Michael married in the Silver Millennium? For eight years, no less...” Mina said, smiling as she trailed off on her sentence. “Yeah...I know...” “So why aren’t you strung on him?” Serena asked. Katherine glared. “Hey, things change in a thousand years. Okay?” “Not for Darien and I.” “Yeah, but you have your reasons for loving him. And I’m saying this as a friend, why wouldn’t you? Black hair, deep blue eyes, gentlemanly, polite, sweet, kind and handsome! But Michael isn’t any of those things.” “What would you say about Michael then?” “This is gonna be good...” Lita said, rubbing her hands together. “Sure blonde hair and blue eyes are attractive, but he is arrogant, a flirt, and he spies on me all the time! I don’t want a guy who mimics mother hen!” “Mother hen?” Serena said, raising an eyebrow. “I mean, I think he tries too hard. Plus he spies on me, so that doesn’t help much. He tries to steal me away with his words. Or sweep me off my feet. I don’t want it to be that way. I mean, try to be friends with Michael. I even know that right now, he is listening to me behind this booth this very moment. And he won’t move now because he doesn’t want to face humiliation.” “You know that?” Darien asked. “He has done at ever since he saw me.” “Wow,” Serena said, eyes wide and mouth slightly open “that’s deep.” As if on que, Michael stood up from the booth and looked at Katherine. Sighing a little, before asking, “Can you forgive me? Can we at least be friends?” “So you want to make peace with me now. Is that it?” He nodded his head. “I was thinking about what you said, and you are right. Peace?” Katherine looked at his extended hand, and smiled. “Peace.” He shook her hand and smiled, then walked out the door, not able to wipe the grin off of his face. Everybody looked at Katherine. “And what was THAT all about?” Serena asked, raising an eyebrow. “A friendship in the making.” Katherine said simply. Later on that evening, the defenders of justice walked down the sidewalk, engrossed in conversation. Different things filled the air, things from school work, to the latest Sailor V video game. Pretty soon, the group was getting smaller, until it was just Raye and Katherine, walking down the road to the Cherry Hill Temple. “And you where nominated for class President for how long?” Katherine asked, folding her arms. “Two whole school years. My competitor and I always got in a tie, until I just let her have the job.” “Oh really? Being the Sailor Scout of Mars, I would think you could threaten her with your fire. That thing is vicious, you know.” Raye laughed. “That would be funny! I can just see it now, ‘Give me the position or else!! Mars Fire Ignite!!” Katherine laughed out loud. Her hands went to her stomach, trying to contain the laughter. Raye smiled at her. The first time she had heard her laugh. She had to be some sort of serious person to not laugh as much as most people she knew. “Oh, that’s rich. That has got to be the funniest thing I have ever heard.” “So what about you? Have you ever done anything like that before?” “Well, no. I was always to myself in school. I normally talked to my brother. He always knew how to help me out. Him and my Dad. They where my best friends.” “And who do you talk to now?” Katherine looked at her. “I talk to God.” Resting high above the clouds, the large spaceship sat in a hover type mode, drifting silently above midday Tokyo. “This is stupid,” Amatite said, tossing some pale brown hair out of his eyes. “We haven’t even found this person yet. There could be hundreds of people that are just like her.” He fell back into his chair, his brownish uniform cape falling behind him. Resting some fingers over his eyes, he sighed. This headache of his was growing bigger. He needed some negative energy from the dark crystal, and he needed it fast. All of this investigation was enough to make his head spin. His thoughts began to wonder to Rubeus, his pathetic general-in-training. Wiseman had given him the position of keeping the Scout he would find and return her to him. This angered Amatite, for he wanted a piece of the Sailor Soldier, and who wouldn’t? Any soldier would want a piece of the Scouts that he could! The thing of it was, that he couldn’t do anything to her, only capture her. He picked up the picture of the girl in his hands again. He knew her name, just not where she lived. Katherine Renee James. Sailor Solar. Nagamoon family member. Katherine hugged her arms closer to her body in the cold winter air that felt more like knives instead of fresh snow. She turned to the familiar ally, and her arms dropped, while her mouth hung open. She ran to the area she usually slept, and found everything she had in her box gone. Including her box. “{What on Earth? Now what am I gonna do?}” She asked herself, standing up. She saw her shadow in front of her, and turned around to see two headlights from a humming car right in front of her. And in the center of the lights, was Michael. “I thought you would need a better place to sleep tonight then the blazing cold. I’m inviting you to stay at my place. You can take my bed. I’ll take the couch.” “Why should I?” She said defensively. “Because you are a great friend, and person Katherine, and even though we have known each other as friends for a short time, I know you deserve better than this. Please?” She looked at his outstretched hand, steam coming out of it from his warmth. She took it, and it immediately closed over hers, pulling her forward. He removed his jacket, slipping it around her shoulders, and opened the car door for her. She walked in, and immediately noticed the immense warmth. He opened the door to the drivers side, pulled out of the ally, and drove off to his nearby apartment. “By the way,” she asked him later. “How did you know where I lived?” He smiled. “I used to watch you all the time, remember? I know where you live.” His apartment was nice and clean, that she noticed, with a nice motherly type touch and some Christmas decorations around the room. Shutting the door behind him, he motioned for her to head off somewhere to make herself comfortable. She found herself sitting in a fairly warm and cozy couch. Was this where he would sleep? Heck! She wouldn’t mind sleeping here! “If your bed feels as good as this, I think I’m going to die of happiness.” He laughed, pulling off his coat and setting it beside her. “You still look a little cold to me, so I think you might want to get to bed now.” He picked her up by the hand, and lead her down the semi-large hallway into his fairly clean bedroom, searching through his drawers to find something she could wear. “I doubt you would want to wear that, so I’ll give you some clothes, and you can change into those, and overnight, what you are wearing can wash. Okay?” “Sounds like a plan to me.” About a half an hour later, Katherine was listened to his constant rambling as he tried to put every blanket he could on her so she could keep warm. She almost objected, but decided to give in. Besides, it was the first time in years she had something nice like this. Why not enjoy it? “You’re sure you’re okay?” he asked, showing his palms. “For all I know, I could die in happiness. You’ve done enough, Michael. Get some rest.” She flopped her head on the pillows and closed her eyes, trying to get as much rest as possible. He shook his head and walked near the doorway, stopping when he heard her say his name. “Michael?” At the doorway, he turned his head, and looked at her. She gave him a half smile. “Thanks. For everything I mean.” He smiled. “My pleasure. ‘Night Katherine.” “ ‘Night.” He shut the door and went to his location on the couch, finding it very hard to wipe the smile off of his face.
