Little Star Author: Patch E-mail: patchkhan1@hotmail.com Rating: PG Hi everyone, this a short (very short) sweet fic that I hope you guys will like. I was planning to write it for Mother's Day but naaaaaah, the urge to write was overwhelming me. ^-^ The song is by Madonna and it's called Little Star and it's one of the few songs I actually like from her CD. Enjoy reading! Bye bye, Patch:-)(-: Insert Standard Disclaimer Here "Mamo-chan, I understand what you're saying, but I think it would be better if we forged a treaty now between the two countries instead of waiting later. That way, we can be ensured that there will be peace," Usagi whispered furiously. "Usako, it doesn't work like that and if you would just examine things carefully you'll see why having a treaty now will be a silly thing to do. No one will abide by it and there'll be trouble," his voice rose in frustration and he impatiently swept a hand through his hair. There had been some unrest between two countries and steps had to be taken to make sure things didn't get out of hand. Usagi wanted a treaty between the countries while Mamoru believed to have such a pact would be fruitless. They were now in a meeting with seven other delegates from the countries surrounding the two warring ones. The delegates could only stare in absolute silence as their King and Queen continued to argue. No one wanted to say anything, lest they received the biting disapproval from one of the rulers. However, it appeared that neither of them would have to say anything for it seemed that the couple had forgotten everyone else but themselves. "Usako, face it, your plan simply won't work and will only put things in dangerous jeopardy." "I will not face anything! You are too stubborn to listen to me!" "I am not doing no such thing!" he snapped, but then he lowered his voice, and took hold of her shoulders. "Listen, you don't understand these matters as much as I do. I have more experience in this area so understand me when I say I know what I'm doing." She shrugged his arms off of her and looked at him, blue fire in her eyes, "What are you trying to say? That just because you're a man, you understand war much better than I? I don't think that's how it works at all. I am Queen, and I know what is best for my people." "Oh really? To me, right now, it seems as though you're only thinking what's best for yourself!" he spit out. The moment the words came out of his mouth, he knew he had said the wrong thing. Baka! You really hit her hard on that one! She backed off, not saying a word. "Usako, gomen ne, I didn't mean-" "Iie, I know what you meant, you don't have to explain anything. Fine, do whatever you think is best. Go ahead, I'll stand by your decision since you are so much more adept than me." She strode out of the room, her white dress swirling around her legs. The delegates watched as she left and then turned back to Neo-King Endymion. He had sat down and was now rubbing the bridge of his nose, his eyes closed. "We will settle this all tomorrow so I bid you all a good night," he said, his eyes still closed. They looked at each other, unsure of what to do, but one by one they stood up and filed out of the room. Mamoru, turned his chair so that it faced the windows. It was late in the night, he realized with a start; they had started this meeting in the hours of early evening and had gotten nowhere. He sighed heavily and unconsciously produced a rose and began twirling the stem between his fingers. It was a habit of his for whenever he was stressed or worried about something. He had not meant to say what he had said. It was just that he was tired and wanted the business over and done with. Maybe he had been acting stubborn, he admitted to himself. Maybe his ego had gotten in the way just a bit and clouded his better judgement. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to approach her, his love. His life. She entered their bedroom, fuming silently. He had completely embarrassed her in front of those people. What would they think? Their King and Queen were in discord with one another, leaving the Earth in a perilous situation. They would go and tell their people how irresponsible the couple was, disagreeing over anything and everything. She panicked for a moment but then took a deep calming breath. It would not happen. She would not let that happen. She stopped at their bed ready to yank off the covers when she saw the little bundle in the middle of the bed. Never forget who you are Little Star Never forget how to dream Butterfly Usagi smiled and crawled onto the bed. She shook her daughter's shoulder lightly and brushed strands of pink hair from her ear. "Small Lady," she whispered in her ear, "wake up now. You have to go to your own bed." Chibi-Usa, turned over, rubbing her eyes sleepily to look into the face of her mother. "Just a few more minutes, Mommy, just a few more..." she replied drowsily. Usagi opened her mouth to say something, but her daughter was already turning back and snuggling deeper into the blankets. "Alright, Chibi-Usa. I'm going to change now but when I come back you have to be up and ready to go back to your own room." The four-year-old mumbled something in her sleep and Usagi could only smile as she got off the bed and walked to the adjoining dressing room. God gave a present to me Made of flesh and bones My life My soul You make my spirit whole After changing, she stood in the doorway and was surprised to see that Chibi-Usa wasn't sleeping in the bed as she had expected. "Chibi-Usa?" "Over here Mommy!" Usagi turned her head to see Chibi-Usa standing by the glass doors that led out to the balcony. She walked up to her and knelt down beside the little girl. "The Moon woke me up, Mommy," Chibi-Usa said, pressing her hands and nose up against the cool surface. "It's so bright and big. Can we go out? I wanna see it." "Of course, love." Never forget who you are Little Star Shining brighter than all the stars in the sky Never forget how to dream Butterfly She picked her up and carried her out to the balcony. The cool night wind rushed at them, swaying their hair a little. Indeed, the Moon did look quite big that night. Usagi faintly remembered that it was due to some astrological event, but couldn't remember the explanation. She was startled from her thoughts when Chibi-Usa snuggled closer to her, wrapping her small arms around her neck and placed her head on Usagi's shoulder. She felt a surge of warmth rush through her, the love for her little girl, her little miracle, overwhelming her. "Look at all the stars, Mommy, there are so many. I can't count them all but I wish I could. I wish I could be up there with them. It would be so cool and I would be special!" "Oh but Darling, you don't have to be up there with them." Chibi-Usa lifted her head and looked at Usagi questioningly. "Doushite?" "Because, you are my own little special star and I need you down here, with me." Never forget where you came from From love You are a treasure to me You are my star "Really? I'm your special star? Does that make me important?" Usagi nodded her head and hugged Chibi-Usa. "It makes you very important to me." "What about Daddy?" She hesitated, slightly and hurt crept into her as she remembered his words. "Even Daddy. You are important to both of us," she replied. "Wow! I'm a special star!" "That you are." They stared up at the dark sky in silence until Chibi-Usa spoke once more. "Did you and Daddy finish your meeting?" Usagi inhaled sharply suddenly, not expecting the question. "No, Small Lady," she said shakily, "Daddy and I still haven't fixed the problem we were working on." "Oh. But you'll fix it in the end, won't you? You and Daddy always make things better. I know everything will be good again, you'll see." Usagi stared at her daughter in amazement. She could not have possibly understood the greater meaning behind her own words. You breathe New Life Into my broken heart Never forget who you are Little star Never forget how to dream Butterfly "How do you know, Chibi-Usa?" "Because, Minako-chan said that you and Daddy have a great big love that can fix anything. So, that means that you two can fix this problem with love." Usagi sniffed and did not even realize that tears had escaped her eyes until she felt two small hands hold her face. "You're crying Mommy. How come?" Chibi-Usa asked in a worried tone. "Because I'm so happy. I think I've just realized how much I love this little star of mine." Chibi-Usa smiled happily. "I love you too Mommy." She placed her head back on Usagi's shoulder and let out a small yawn. "One day, I'm going to marry someone just like Daddy and then I'll have a big love too." "You will, Small Lady, one day, you will..." May the angels protect you And sadness forget you Little star There's no reason to weep Lay your head down to sleep Little star After a while, Usagi realized that Chibi-Usa had gone to sleep and turned to go back inside. But she stopped when she saw who was standing there. "Mamo-chan..." "Usako... gomen nasai, I didn't mean to hurt you like that." "I understand." "Nani?" he hadn't expected her to say that. She usually put up a fight or wouldn't speak to him. He watched as she came closer to him, holding their sleeping daughter. "Chibi-Usa believes our love can fix anything and using our love we can fix our problem and I... I agree with her," she finished, smiling, her eyes shining with tears. "She said that?" Mamoru asked, shocked. Usagi chuckled and looked over at Chibi-Usa. "I don't think she knew what had happened, but you know what they say, you really don't know what goes on inside a child's mind. So...what do you say?" she asked, biting her lip and placing a hand on his chest. He smiled softly and leaned down to kiss her, slowly and sweetly as his arms came around her waist. They broke apart gently and he smiled again. "I think that's answer enough to your question." "It is Mamo-chan, it is," she watched as he took Chibi-Usa from her arms and kiss the top of her hair. "I'll be back," he said quietly and gave Usagi a lingering kiss before walking away. She watched him leave the room and then turned back to gaze up at the stars. Moments later she felt his arms encircle her waist from behind and felt his warmth against her back. "Our daughter is a genius," Mamoru said, kissing Usagi's neck. "Hmm, I think she just knows how to state the obvious." "Maybe we should give her a younger brother or sister to keep her occupied." She turned around in his arms and brought his head down to hers. "I wholeheartedly agree," was all she said before her lips met his. May goodness surround you My love I have found you Little star Shining bright Later that night, before drifting off to sleep in her husband's arms, she thanked whoever was watching for giving her an opportunity to be a mother to a precocious yet precious little girl. ~*~*The End*~*~ So, so so, what did you all think?
