"Nice to see you too,rabbit."laughed Darien. "Unfortunately,Chiba...it isn't PLEASANT to see YOU..."replied Serena sarcastically,looking up at Darien from her sitting position. If it had been anybody else from Tokyo Hill....they would have cowered from the president of the Theta Fraternity.But of course..not Serena Tsukino...because as far as the social circle went...any girl on the Delta Sorority comitee,was untouchable...unless of course they'd disgraced the society and was booted out. Which in this case...Serena was 'hands-off' boundry.One thing led to another...and of course another until both were in a full blown verbal battle of the wits. Eight others stood there,shaking their heads in exasperation. "Tokyo Hill's elite huh??"sighed Mina. Raye sighed."Rena,for the 10'000th time.....don't-" "-Ever cause a scene."finished Serena with a bored look. "Dare,you MAY be the Theta Fraternity president...but in case you didn't notice....there ARE...FRESHMEN here?????"scolded Greg. Darien rolled his eyes. "Now both of you,shake hands and make up."said Lita. "WHAT???Make up with that????"exclaimed both in unison. Mina giggled slightly."Whoa....totally in synchronize here!!"teased Mina. "I'm outta here!"shouted Serena,slipping on her sandals and getting up. She walked away towards the other end of the beach,secluded by dense trees. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You two are the most pig-headed stubborn mules I have ever seen!!" exclaimed Raye. "I'm going after Sere..."said Amy,when Lita held her in a steadfast grip. Lita frowned at Darien,patiently tapping her foot in the white sand. Darien took one look at Lita and frowned...he knew what she was implying. And he was NOT going to do it...no way was HE the president of Tokyo Hill Theta Fraternity going after the insufferable little pipsqueak,Serena Tsukino. He then felt 8 pairs of eyes bore into his back.It was irritating... Five minutes.... Seven minutes.... "Oh ALRIGHT!!!Now will you guys stop STARING at me like that???"exclaimed Darien in an exasperated voice. The eight teens broke into smiles and laughter and also started high-fiving and cheering. "Alright,CUT THAT OUT!!!"growled Darien stomping away to find the exasperating,insufferable,irritating rabbit.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Serena sighed.She was on one of the most deserted areas of the beach... it was quiet and peaceful as the stretch of the beach was surrounded by a dense clump of trees. Kicking some sand with her foot,Serena looked ahead...the waves crashing on the big rock formation a few yards away. *Why does he always have to be so mean??Just because he's high up on the Academy's social ladder.Why can't we j-just talk instead of arguing??* wondered Serena as her lower lip trembled and tears stung her eyes. Serena fiddled with her birth bracelet which had her birthdate inscribed on it.It had been given by her mother. Looking at the bracelet brought tears to her eyes.Her mother had died when she was only 3 years old...so Serena never really knew her mother. Her father raised her,telling her he was glad he still had her... Serena let out another sigh and stared at the inscription on her bracelet. Born Friday,29 June 1978. To my beloved daughter... Serena Tsukino, May she grow like a sweet and innocent rose. Love, Selene Tsukino. A single tear made it's way to the sandy ground....the bracelet meant a lot to her...with the bracelet was a matching necklace with a locket.It played a sweet haunting melody and on the inside was a tiny picture of her family and her parents. Serena shook her head and continued to walk down the deserted beach... or so she thought was deserted... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After a few minutes of walking,Serena distinctively heard somebody crying... Stopping in her tracks,Serena listened......it was pitiful sobbing. Walking towards the sound of the cries,Serena found a little girl who was probably no more that 4 years-old.She was crying her heart out. "Hello..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darien grumbled...he knew he shouldn't have come....now his friends had coerced him into finding Serena Tsukino who had walked off fuming towards this deserted stretch of the beach.. *That girl is so troublesome....it's not my responsibility she walked off here by herself.Rassum frassum...* He then distinctively heard someone singing a soft sweet lullaby.He nearly choked....it was something his mother used to sing to him when he was younger.... "La la lu... La la lu... Oh my little star sweeper... I'll sweep the stardust, for you.... La la lu La la lu... Little soft fluffy sleeper, Here comes a pink cloud for you...-" The voice sounded like little bells being carried off by the wind.Darien wondered if a voice like that actually existed. Slowly,he crept behind a rock and peeked over it....there..he saw SERENA!!! She was singing a lullaby to a young girl.The young girl had obviously been crying judging by her red and puffy eyes.Her nose was red and she was hiccuping. Darien's heart melted at the gentle and loving scene before his eyes.... the little girl was also holding something...*what is it???Waitaminit!! That looks like Serena's bracelet!!*thought Darien as the bracelet winked at him in the sunlight. He'd noticed Serena always had the bracelet on.He onced asked one of his friends why she never took it off....they'd only said the bracelet had a special meaning to her.... Snapping out of his thoughts,Darien noticed Serena was holding the child protectively. The little girl giggled as Serena touched her nose lightly. "Now...don't cry anymore okay???I'm going to let you keep that bracelet." smiled Serena. Then Darien heard people shouting.Two adults ran up to Serena and plucked the girl out of Serena's arms. The woman hugging the child whilst crying and the man was thanking Serena. "Thank you for looking after our daughter,miss!!!Thank you so much!!"wept the father of the little girl.Whereas the mother was scolding her lightly about running off.... "It was nothing,Clara here was sweet."smiled Serena. "Oh,how can we ever repay you???"wept the mother as she hugged her daughter near her. "No need...."said Serena looking at Clara."Just make sure YOU don't go running off again."laughed Serena tapping her snub nose lightly. *She has such a warm and loving heart...why can't she ever show that side of her to me??*wondered Darien sadly.*Because you always tease her.* answered his heart painfully. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Serena watched as the two parents carried their daughter away.Clara looked back at Serena and waved the bracelet happily giggling. Serena giggled,waving back in return. *Sigh...well Sere???There goes your bracelet....oh well...mother would have been proud...besides...I still have the locket...and Clara DID need it more than me.*thought Serena to herself. "That was very sweet of you."came a voice. Startled,Serena let out a gasp and turned round to see who it was. "Darien!!"exclaimed Serena surprised,her mouth opened. Darien gave a chuckle. "What are YOU doing here,Chiba???"asked Serena eyeing him carefully and cautiously. "Hey...don't stare at me like that...those 8 back there forced me to look for you,and apologize."said Darien holding his palms up as if to ward of her anger...if she still had any. Serena stared at him..."And Y-Y-YOU ACTUALLY complied?????"stated Serena unbelieving her sapphire blue eyes wide with shock.The PRESIDENT of the elite Theta Fraternity of Tokyo Hill,THE fraternity that only selected the most exclusive boys of Tokyo Hill Academy to join.....was here to apologize. "This was a dare right???"asked Serena disbelievingly. "Huh??A dare??No!!"exclaimed Darien."I'm serious!!!I apologize."said Darien sincerely. "Now I KNOW this is a joke....alright WHO set this up??"asked Serena as she eyed him. "You know Tsukino....sometimes I really think you're one screw loose." teased Darien playfully. "Darien Chiba!!You tell me who set this up!!!"exclaimed Serena following him back to the crowded area of the beach. Darien chuckled and gave a sigh... "You'll have to catch me first,....rabbit.."laughed Darien as he broke into a sprint. "Oooh...why you self-absorbed baka!!!Come back here!!"shouted Serena as she ran after Darien. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally catching up with him,Serena pulled sidelong to him. "You arrogant,so-and so....but then...that's the Chiba I know....I was beginning to think you had a fever back that,being so nice and everything." grinned Serena impishly. "I'm hurt little rabbit...you don't think I can be nice??" "Well...you never do with me."said Serena. Darien smirked. Suddenly,Serena tripped.... "Aaaaaah!!!!!'she screamed as she desperately tried to stable herself, pulling Darien along with her. Falling onto the soft white sand,Darien landed on top of her... Both dazed and exhausted from running,they lay there awhile in their current position. Serena cracked open an eye and felt something heavy on her body...of course...she then realized what...who...it was....Darien Chiba. Coughing slightly to get his attention,"Excuse me...but would you mind getting off of me??"said Serena weakly. Before Darien could comply,both heard a few snickers.... "Well-well..what do we have here??"laughed Chad teasingly. Quickly getting off her,Darien stood up and brushed himself off,glaring at Chad and Andrew who were standing there snickering. Serena too frowned at Andrew and Chad.... "You TELL ANYONE and you two are SO dead!!'threathened Serena. Darien offered to pull her up.Ignoring it,Serena tried to get up by herself....failing. "Oww!!"shouted Serena as she tried to stand,falling back onto the soft sand. "I think you twisted your ankle."said Darien. "Great..."mumbled Serena fuming. Without any warning,Darien swept her up into his arms,Serena giving a startle shriek. "Chiba!!!" "Relax moppet...I'm not going to drop you."chuckled Darien.
