Have A Little Faith Chapter 1 Author: Patch E-mail: patchkhan1@hotmail.com Rating: PG-13 (Not really, but I like to play it safe for any of those "sensitive" people) Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon or any characters that associate with her. That just sounds weird doesn't it? Well, that's not my fault, I'm just writing what I feel! *Sob* I have to go to an Author's Anonymous meeting now. Oh, oh oh!!! I advise you people to read my fic, "If Only She Knew" before reading this. It might help you in understanding this story, ALOT cause this is sort of a sequel. Enjoy and write me! I take comments, praises (always taken!) and CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, no flames please! Or I'll flame you right back! Muhahahahahaha, okay I'll let you all read now. Bye bye! Patch:-)(-: "Catch me if you can, Darien!" "Serena! Come back here!" Maids and footmen had to step out of the way as two figures sped by them. Neo-Queen Serenity was being chased by her husband, Neo-King Endymion and fortunately for her, she had a nice lead. "Oh Darien, is age slowing you down?" Serena laughed breathlessly, "After all, you are 2500 and some odd years old, so I guess that should be expected." They were now in their bedroom and Darien had just locked their door and was now stalking Serena around the bed. "Serena, be a nice Queen and hand me those documents." He said sweetly. A little too sweetly Serena thought. "I don't think so Darien. C'mon have a little fun and lighten up! I'll give you the documents all in good time." "We can have plenty of fun, if you'd like, after you give me those papers." "No way!" and she jumped over the bed, her intentions to head towards the door. But she was stopped when Darien jumped at the same time and caught her in mid-flight and they both landed in the middle of the bed. He pinned her beneath him and held her arms on each side of her head. "Now, do you surrender?" "Never! I will never admit defeat!" "Oh really?" he raised an eyebrow and then grinned evilly, "well maybe this will get you to talk." "Darien? Darien, what are you doing?" he had taken both of her arms and raised them above her head and now held them with one hand. He then started to tickle her. "Darien! No! This is unfair! You're cheating!" she squirmed underneath him, her face going red from laughing too hard. "What do you say now sweetheart? Nothing? Well, that's too bad," and he continued to tickle her, until tears streamed down her face. "Mercy! Mercy!" she yelled and he stopped. "You win, although by unfair means and for that, as Queen I order you to reimburse me for my loss." "It would be my pleasure, Your Majesty." And he leaned over and began to kiss her. He gently coaxed her lips open and slid his tongue in to join with hers. "Mm, not bad Your Highness," she said after a while, "please, do continue." She whispered and lightly nipped his chin. "Mommy, why does Daddy have you down like that?" The two stopped abruptly and turned their heads toward the door where their four- year-old daughter stood, innocent curiosity apparent on her face. "I thought you had locked the door!" "I did, well at least I thought I did." He sat up and got off the bed and pulled Serena up with him. "Small Lady, uh, Daddy and I were just um, wrestling. Yes, that's it! We were wrestling." "Wow, that must've been fun. Who won?" "Daddy won, sweetie." Darien said, smiling evilly at Serena who could only stick her tongue out at him. "And what did you win Daddy?" "Something very important that your Mommy will give to me right now, won't she?" he smiled sweetly at her, but there was a warning in his eyes. "Of course, Dearest. Be right back!" He watched Serena leave their bedroom through the adjoining door and when he could see her no more he turned back to Rini and picked her up. "So, what can I do for my little princess?" "You and Mommy promised to take me on a picnic today, remember?" she said, and pouted in the way that her parents always fell for. "We did? Oh, oh yes we did. Well, when Mommy gets back we'll get ready and then we'll go. How does that sound?" "Where are we going, Darien?" Serena had come back, holding Darien's papers. "We're going on a little picnic, just you, me and Rini." "You promised me Mommy, remember?" "I did? Oh, um, yes I did. Well, why don't you run along and have Nanny get you all dressed up and then you can help her pack a lunch for the three of us." As Rini ran off, Serena turned to Darien, "When did we promise her this?" "I have no idea but since we both have nothing to do, why not? I think we could use this outing." "Mm-hmm, definitely. But afterwards," and here she stepped closer to him and on tiptoes she whispered, "you will pay me for my loss, won't you?" "Anything for my Queen." He replied, a devilish glint in his eyes. The next day, Darien sat in his office lazily looking through some documents. He was feeling quite content and satisfied as he sat reflecting the previous day's events. His family had quite a fun time at the park and then later in the evening he and his wife had had a thoroughly enjoyable night. A light knocking on his door startled him from his thoughts and he looked up to see his secretary come in. "Miguel, is there anything wrong?" "No, Your Highness, quite the opposite. A woman is here to see you." "And what would this lady's name be?" "Alicia Thornton. She says she's an old friend of yours from Kobe." "Kobe?" Darien thought of his years in Kobe and then inhaled sharply, causing Miguel to look at him in concern. "Your Highness, are you alright?" "Yes, yes, I'm alright. Please send in Ms. Thornton." "Yes, Your Highness." A few moments later, a stunningly beautiful woman walked in. Dressed in a business suit consisting of a skirt that reached mid-thigh and top with long sleeves, she looked every inch the professional working woman. Her hair was like a waterfall of shiny black, waves of it reaching down to her waist, but it was her eyes that were her most captivating feature. A startling pair of violet, when focused on their subject, they seemed to gaze deep into the soul. "Darien! I can't believe it's true, you're King Endymion?" "I have that honor." He replied, gazing at her steadily. "Well, don't just stand there! Don't I get a kiss or a hug?" "Alicia, what are you doing here?" "Well, if you insist on being all formal, I wanted to see if the rumors were really true, that Darien Chiba, former hot-shot doctor of Kobe Medical Center was in fact, King of Crystal Tokyo. It's absolutely amazing to see you standing here." "I'm glad to see that your curiosity has been satisfied. Now, do you have any other business here?" "Darien, why so stiff? You act as though we were enemies," and with a sultry smile she continued, "As I recall, we were quite the opposite." "Darien, love, I was just wondering..." Serena came in and noticed the two a bit late. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I'll come back later, Darien." "No, Serena, stay. Ms. Thornton was just leaving." He looked at Alicia, giving her the hint. "Uh, yes I was, but Darien, why don't you introduce me to your wife?" she said smiling slightly. Her eyes flicked over Serena and her smile was confident and slightly mocking when she looked back at Darien. "Serena, this is Ms. Alicia Thornton, an old acquaintance of mine from my days in Kobe." "Oh, how nice to meet you Ms. Thornton. Will you be staying with us?" "Why I'd be delighted! If you don't mind, could you show me to my room? I fear the trip from Kobe was slightly tiring and I would like to get some rest." "That should be no problem. Why don't you come with me and I'll have someone bring your bags for you." As the two left, Alicia threw a knowing smile over her shoulder at Darien, and a look that said, we'll speak later. When the two had gone, Darien fell into his chair and rested his head in his hands. He couldn't believe what had just happened. His former girlfriend had arrived and was now at this very moment talking to his wife who, thankfully, had no idea who Alicia was. I have to protect Serena, he thought, she can't find out about my past relationship with Alicia or she'll be totally devastated. The next night found Darien standing near a rose bush in the rose garden. He twirled a red rose by its stem, thinking of ways to handle his current situation. He sighed, having thought of nothing. He didn't want Serena to be hurt...again. Lord knew those last two times had dealt a striking blow to her heart and he was still grateful to this very day, that Serena had forgiven him both times. He wouldn't lose her this time. "Red roses are your trademark, are they not?" He instantly stilled and didn't bother to turn around as he asked, "What do you want Alicia?" "You haven't told your wife about us have you? Of our relationship, of all those times we shared." "Get over it Alicia. That was in the past and it doesn't concern me anymore. Truth be told, I had forgotten about you until yesterday when you decided to show your face." She hissed and took two steps to stand right behind him. "Cruel, cruel Darien. Just like you were before in Kobe and then she had to come back into your life and turn you into a goody goody." "Correction, I came back into her life, and she did not turn me into a goody goody." "Oh?" she circled around him, her fingers tracing his shoulders, "So, you're still the bad boy are you? That's good to hear Darien, cause I like you bad." Her fingers would have touched his face but he grabbed her wrist, his eyes an icy blue. "Don't touch me again Alicia," he threw her wrist away from him and continued, "Get out of my life and go back from where ever you came from." "Not possible, Darien. You see, if you want me to keep quiet about our times in Kobe, then I suggest a little 'hush money.' I could use a new house, complete with a big garden." "That's blackmail," he growled. "I could have you thrown in prison for that." "But you won't will you? Otherwise innocent Serena will know everything, down to the littlest details." She gave a girlish giggle and walked away from him. He sat down on the fountain bench, a howl of pure frustration on the tip of his lips. But he stopped and calmed himself. I will protect you Serena. I swear it. 2 nights later... "Darien, you seem really distracted these days." Serena said, hugging her arms around Darien's waist. The two were standing out on the balcony of their room, enjoying the peaceful night. "Hmm? Oh, it's nothing Serena." He kissed her lips lightly and continued to look out into the city. "Oh, it's definitely something Darien," she said firmly and then her voice softened, "I can see the worry lines on your face, love." "Serena...it's not something you would understand." She crossed her arms and looked at him sternly, "Darien, you promised never to shut me out like this. You know I'll help you in anyway I can if you would just tell me what-" "I told you Serena, it's nothing you would understand!" he snapped. She refused to back down, even though it hurt her to know Darien wasn't telling her something, something that was definitely not about work, "Try me." "Serena, I know I made a promise. A promise where I swore my heart would always be open to you, but this matter is totally different. You don't have to know everything I do and I can't share with you every little thing that goes on in my life! I need my breathing space." She gasped, and tears formed at her eyes. "Fine, I'll give you your 'breathing space.' As a matter of fact, have all the breathing space you want, I'll make sure not to get in your way." "Serena..." He reached out a hand to stop her but she had already walked away swiftly, her head held high. "Damn." He slammed his fist on the railing of the balcony, ignoring the pain that shot up his arm. Raye's room. "And then he told me he needed breathing space!" "I'm sure it's nothing Serena. He's probably distracted by work or something." Raye said, hugging Serena. Raye, otherwise known as Sailor Mars, and Serena were best friends, and even though at first glance, it did not look possible, the two were as close as sisters. "Oh, but Raye, I know when Darien's having trouble with work and I usually just leave him alone. See, I *know* that this time, it's not work that's making Darien act like this. I hate to think it, but he's really acting similar to when he broke up with me that first time." She looked at Raye, her eyes teary and fearful. Raye's face flushed red in anger as she recalled the time when Darien had broken up with Serena. She had seen Serena fall into depression the first time. The second time he had broken up with her (AN: You would have to read my fic, If Only She Knew for that one), it had been much worse, for that time, Darien had left Tokyo and no one knew where he had gone. She was not going to stand by watch her best friend take another blow like that. Twice was more than enough! She promised herself to go have a few words with the King himself, tomorrow. She was startled when Serena suddenly burst out, "I'm going to get to the bottom of this Raye. I'm worried about him and I won't lose him!" End.
