Blue Bird By Klutz AN's: This is a song fic, taking place sometime after Usagi and Mamoru have been married, but it isn't Neo-Tokyo yet. It's just a happy couple… living together in Tokyo, 199X. Got it? Oh, e-mail is a wonderful thing: lunap@lunap.com and you can see more of my stuff at Alicia's and Lady S's site (for my first season /alt stories) at www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Spa/4410 or my site, for all my stories, www.lunap.com The song I'm using is 'day dream believer' by the monkeys. ^^ Oh I could hide 'neath the wings of the blue bird as she sings the six o'clock alarm would never ring… Mamoru was awake long before his eyes opened. There was sun coming in through the balcony window along with a warm breeze, it was summer and it was cool enough to leave the windows open at night. Blue birds were chirping outside the window, Usako was still asleep, cuddled into his side, and all was right with the world. But she rings And I rise Wipe the sleep Out of my eyes My shavin' razor's cold And it stings. However in exactly three seconds his alarm would go off, and an Usako who was awake at six am, was not a happy Usako. He reached out one arm and in a practiced motion, shut the alarm off seconds before it rung. Gently moving away from the small blonde, he got out of bed. The floor was cold that morning, odd, since the day was so warm already. Shaking off the thoughts, Mamoru tucked the sheets in tightly around his sleeping wife and headed into the bathroom for a shower. Cheer up sleepy Jean, Oh what can it mean To a day-dream believer And a Homecoming queen? Shower finished, Mamoru shaved and set his clothes out on the chair near the bathroom door before plugging the kettle in, and sitting down on the edge of the soft bed. He ran one hand over Usagi's hair, then lifted it away from her face so the sun would hit her face. "Come on Usako, it's time to wake up now." He said softly, and pulled the sheets away. Usagi, though she knew she had to get up, still didn't think that life should start at such an un-godly hour. Maybe when she became queen she would change that… Your world starts with me As a white knight on his steed Now you know How happy, I can be… Usagi stretched, rolled over to her back and smiled sleepily up at Mamoru. "Mamo-chan, is it that time already?" she asked. Mamoru smiled. "Hai Usako, get out of bed and take your shower. I left plenty of hot water for you." Mamoru replied, then kissed her gently before going back to the small kitchen to pour out the tea and make toast. Usagi clambered out of bed and into the shower with a yawn. Days like these she loved, with or without the early wake up call. Oh and our good times Starts and ends With our dollar Gone to spend, But how much baby, Do we really need? Finished with her shower, Usagi wrapped the towel around her hair and twisted it into place before opening the closet doors. One closet between the two of them wasn't much, but it was enough. They preferred to live simply for now, in the same apartment Mamoru had from before, because they knew they would live in a palace latter, and how better to know your people then to live them? Smiling at the day, Usagi pulled out a sleeveless white shirt and simple shorts. Today would be just as warm as yesterday, and she was happy. The smell of toast and tea wafted out of the kitchen. "Usako, breakfast is ready!" Mamoru called out. "Be right there Mamo-chan!" she replied, and slipped quickly into the clothes. Cheer up sleepy Jean! Oh what can it mean To a day-dream believer And a Homecoming queen? After breakfast, Usagi washed the dishes and Mamoru dried them, setting them back in the cupboards. He smiled at Usagi. "All done Usako. Today I have a summer class to teach, but don't worry, I should be home around three today." He said. Usagi smiled. "Okay Mamo-chan. Oh! I'll need some money for groceries, we're out of milk and a few other things I'll have to pick up…" Mamoru handed her some money. "Why don't you pick up something nice for desert tonight? We deserve a treat, it's a Friday after all." He said, winking. She knew full well that Friday was Odango night, a tradition they had begun some time ago by pure chance, and had simply stuck. Oh I could hide 'Neath the wings Of the blue bird As she sings The six o'clock alarm Would never ring… Usagi went up on tiptoe and gave Mamoru a quick kiss on the cheek. "Have a good day Mamo-chan, Aishiteru!" she said ass he stepped out the door. "You too Usako, Aishiteru! I'll try to come back early!" he said with a smile, and headed off to work. 'Whenever did I wake up to such a lovely dream?' THE END. Klutz (MKC) Proud webmistress and owner of Luna P dot Com!
