Queen of Legends, part six, by Sailor GlitterGirl, May 2001 Heeeeeeellllooooooooo!!!!!! Sorry, love to chat but I actually got a complaint about my long notes before the story. Obviously she hasn't read part five. Oh, well. Further notes and disclaimers at bottom. Ja! -Sailor GlitterGirl THIS PART IS DEDICATED TO RavenEye777, MY NEW EDITOR AND TOTAL LIFESAVER. *****QUEEN OF LEGENDS***** Part Six: ENTER: Moon Ambassador, the Lunar Soldier, Sailor Silver Selene Rated: Totally G By: Sailor GlitterGirl At: Emeraldgoddess@SailorJupiter.com Site(s): Moon Kingdom Royal Library and Newbie Fanfiction Domain URL(s): http://moonkingdomroyallibrary.homestead.com/MoonLibrary.html and http://NewbieFanfictionDomain.homestead.com/homepage.html "You know, that was actually fun." Lita said, referring to the party which had ended nearly half an hour ago. She sounded surprised. "Only because you got a guy." Raye grumbled. "That IS your own fault Raye," Amy reminded her, ignoring Raye's glares. "You kept glaring at any male that came near you." To everyone, she said, "It was nice of Lady Jasemine to take time out to get to know each of us." "The only bad thing I have to say about the party is how every single unattached man -and even then some- was staring at us like some love-sick puppies." Lita made a face. "And that's a bad thing?" Mina looked at her sister-like friend as if she were crazy. "Yeah, well you had Kunzite." Serena said simply, plopping down on her bed. The girls had gathered in her room for a girl chat before splitting for bed. "True, but YOU had the prince." Mina said slyly. Serena shrieked and promptly fell off the bed, causing laughter to erupt from Lita and Raye. Serena glared evilly at Mina as she picked herself up, brushing herself off haughtily. "Mina." She stated. "Y...yes?" Mina squeaked, reconigzed the look on her Queen's face and suddenly fearing for her life. Serena turned calm cool blue eyes onto her friend, and uttered one word, very clearly. "Run." Screaming and shrieking in terrified delight, Mina bolted out the door, Serena hot on her heels, both girls laughing. Raye groaned and lugged herself to her feet. "I'd better go after them to make sure they don't barge into the Queen's bedchambers or something," She said, then chuckled. "Still..." "It is nice to see Serena smiling so often." Lita supplied, getting up to follow Raye, as did Amy. Raye sighed, wondering why Serena wasn't like this all the time. It was such a boost to the others. Did she even realize how much she influenced them? "C'mon, Dare, the party wasn't THAT bad!" Jedite teased. "Besides," He added slyly. "You got to dance with Serenity the whole time." Darien stiffened and uttered a growl of warning, knowing where the outgoing-General was heading. "Jedite..." Darien warned, but the blonde General ignored the menacing looks his prince was giving him, and continued. "But I'll bet you hardly noticed the glares she was giving you seeing as you were totally drooling over her like a love-sick fool the entire time. Well, I would to if it weren't for Raye, but-" "General Jedite..." The prince growled, clenching his fists and forcing away the blush that threatened his face. "...Then again who WOULDN'T like her? I mean she's gorgeous, and she's an angel when she puts her mind to it and with a name like hers, I mean 'Serenity' is a pretty name, don'tcha think, guys?" Jedite turned to his fellow generals, who were pointedly staying out of the conversation. Kunzite and Nephlite exchanged worried glances. They hadn't told the others about the Lady Beryl, yet. They wanted to wait until they were positive they were alone. Darien was glaring at a smug Jedite. The General was treding on dangerous ground and he knew it, but that didn't mean the others were crazy enough to try it. At least Darien hoped so. He doubted he could hide the beginnings of feelings for the golden haired angel from all of them. Suddenly, all five heads snapped up and listened as a shriek echoed through the corridor. "What was that?" Nephlite said, voicing the question that they were all were thinking. "Sounded like a girl's scream." Zoicite observed. "No, duh!" Jedite rolled his eyes. "Hush." Darien demanded, and they fell silent, listening. "It almost sounded like Mina." Kunzite. "She might-" "Since when are you on shortened/nick-name basis with Miss Vemina?" Nephlite suddenly demanded. For a moment, the Generals were stunned at the sight of a slightly flustered Kunzite, the man that was almost as unbreakable and unpenitrable as the prince. "Uh, well, um, ah, ee, well, uh," Kunzite stumbled for words as he felt redness creep over his ears. "Well, uh, er, uh...Well, What about you and Miss Julita, Neph? I could have sworn I thought I heard you call her 'Lita-chan' once or twice today." Nephlite recoiled, blinking rapidly in embarrassment. "She, uh, she said I could, so, I, uh, well, I was being a gentleman." "Uh-huh, right," three Generals and a prince chorused. Nephlite winced. He was gonna get it later. Kunzite probably was to. Just as they had almost forgotten the shriek, a shrill, worn-out voice rang out. "Truce! Truce! I give up, Rena!" "Nope. Too late, Mina-Chan." A second, gleefull voice chuckled evilly. "You are sooo gonna pay for that comment!" Pounding of feet and panting of breath along with the sound of madly swishing skirts was heard, getting louder. "Was that...was that SERENITY?" Jedite blanched. "She's very inticing when she sounds happy, doesn't she?" Nephlite said, he being the only one to ever hear the lady Serenity laugh before. "Very." Jedite said. He looked at the prince with a mischievious gleem in his eye. "Hey, Your Highness?" "Don't. Even. Think. About. It." Darien said coolly and evenly. Jedite, being Jedite, didn't listen. "Hey, you know the rules of ettiquitte. We have an obligation to rescue Miss Vemina and seperate them." He lowered his voice to a sultry whisper. "Then maybe afterwards if Miss Serenity doesn't behave, then maybe you could- uh-oh. HELP!!!!!!" Jedite's screech of terror could be heard throughout the palace as he spurred himself down the hall, away from the angirly charging Prince, leaving behind three laughing Generals. "C...come...come on..." Nephlite gasped, desperately trying to catch his breath. "We'd better go after them." "Yeah. Make sure the prince doesn't pulverise poor Jed." Zoicite chuckled, wiping tears of mirth from his eyes. Somehow managing to compose themselves, they took off at a quick jog down the corridor, following the direction of an endangered species known as Jedite. "Re...Serena..." Mina called back through panting laughs. "Please..can we...stop?" "Nope." Serena called merrily, toying with Mina. The blonde was out of breath and tiring- or so she appeared. Serena knew Mina too well to let herself be sure that her look-alike really was tiring. And seeing as she was second only to Serena in most sports and tests and such, Serena doubted it. So she planned to run her out until she was forced to admit TRUE defeat. She deserved it! Still, Serena was ready to yawn, so she quickly caught up to Mina, and jabbed her in the ribs, tickling her. With a shriek and a spurt of energy, Mina lunged forward, hiking up her golden skirt even higher, shaking her head to clear the sweat dripping into her eyes. 'Darn.' Mina thought with regret. Her ploy of acting tired and coaxing pity out of her friend hadn't worked. She had doubted it would, since Serena was really the only person who could always see through her. Picking up speed, Mina darted around a corner, Serena still in hot pursuit. Swinging around a second corner, Mina absently noted a shriek and the word 'help' being screamed out playfully, but meaningfully, not far away. Not paying attention and keeping her mind focused on eluding her hunter, Mina leaped over a table in the middle of the room she was dashing across. Pausing for a split second to yank open a door, Mina bolted out the doorway and- Mina shrieked in surprise as she came face to face with Jedite, his face mirroring hers. At the same time, he ducked and she leaped over his back, skirts flying about in a flurry of gold. While automatically positioning herself to land, she gasped in surprise as she felt herself being snatched out of the air, then cradled gently in a pair of strong arms, 'o'er the threshold' style. Gasping for breath, Mina looked up, startled, to see Kunzite's shining face. "Hello again," he joked. "Do I know you?" Mina laughed, then turned her head as she heard the unmistakable, and rare, occurance of Serena shrieking in surprise, along with the sound of the breath being knocked out of someone. A strong someone. Looking the over the scene before them, Mina, Kunzite, and Jedite -whom was on the floor- all burst out laughing. Serena grinned devishly as Mina paused only for a split second to open the door that exited the room. That pause was all she needed. As Mina dashed out the door, Serena coiled the slender, powerful muscles in her thighs and legs, and sprung forward after Mina, intending to tackle the blonde. Instead, her skull contected with warm, hard flesh beneath black silk. Shrieking as she and her victim went down, Serena grumbled as she caught the split-second view of Mina in General Kunzite's arms, both smiling, Mina blushing. There was a whoosh of air above her, and Serena realized that she had knocked the wind out of her landing-pillow. Automatically Serena reached up and pinched select nerves under her victim's flesh, releasing his lungs. Finally looking up to apologize to the man, Serena shieked again in horror, her eyes going wide as she realized she was in Prince Darien's lap, on top of him. Pushing himself up with a grunt, Darien peeked on eye open, and his reaction was cleary as bad as hers. He sucked in a sharp breath of air, startled at having opened his eyes to be met with the ones of a goddess. Serena blushed most becomingly -and for what she was sure was the first time in her life- and scrambled off his outstretched legs, which she had been sprawled over moments before. Finally managing to compose himself, Darien turned a whithering glare onto Jedite, who still lay on the ground and was laughing hysterically. He noted out of the corner of his eye that Serenity, too, was giving the death look to her friend, Lady Vemina, whom was giggling uncontrollably in Kunzite's arms. Kunzite of whom seemed very pleased at holding the girl. Serena looked down the corridor, as did Darien, at the sound of more pounding feet. Around the corner came Nephlite, next to Lita, Amy, just behind and beside Zoicite, and a very red Raye, whom looked to have steam coming out of her ears. Suddenly it was Serena who was afraid. And at the sight of Raye's flashing blue-violet eyes, Serena yelped and dashed behind a surprised Darien. "Hide me!" Serena exclaimed, momentarily forgetting that this was the prince she was hiding behind. "Alright, blonde squad, what have you been up to?" Lita said, laughter in her voice. She ducked her head behind Darien, whom was rather stunned at the moment, and looked Serena straight in the eye. "Whatcha doin' back there, queenie?" "Ssshhhh!" Serena hissed. "I'm hiding from Ms. Pyro. She didn't look to happy." "YA THINK??????!!!" Serena screeched and leapt a mile into the air, straight into Lita's arms, as Raye suddenly, and seemingly magically out of nowhere, right next to Serena's ear, screaming. "YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN YOURSELF SUED OR KICKED OUT, MS. AIRHEAD!!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????!!!!" "Uh...I was thinking about teaching Mina a lesson for that oh-so-subtle remark?" She shot a killer eye at Mina, who smiled and giggled nervously, while shrinking closer to Kunzite. Raye tossed up her hands. "You see?" She said exhasperatedly to Jedite, whom was STILL on the floor. "You see what I have to put up with?" "Your not exactly a party yourself, hothead." Serena muttered, now standing on her own beside Darien (Whom was still trying to grasp all this.), hands planted firmly on her hips. "WHAT was that?" Raye spun on her queen. "Nothing, nothing." Serena said innocently. "Pyro." Raye stiffened. Her eyes narrowing as she glared at Serena. "You know this means war, don't you?" She hissed lowly. "Bring it on." Serena shot, and crossed her arms, leaning forwards slight as Raye put herself in the same position. Glaring for a moment, the two simontaniously whipped out their weapons, aimed, and began firing. "Ttttthhhhhhhbbbbbbbttttttttttssssbbbbbbttttttt!!!!" Challanged Serena's wildly flapping tongue. "Ttttttthhhhhhhhbbbbbbbbbtttttttbbbbbbttttttt!!!!!" Raye shot back. Amy backed against a wall, burying her face in her hands, shaking her head. Mina pressed her face into Kunzite's shoulder, whispering "I don't know them, I don't know them, I don't know them..." over and over. Lita simply backed away, looking at the two young women engaged in a razzberry war as if she were afraid of them. "I thought they'd gotten over that." She said, then more quietly, "They had to choose NOW to pick up old habits." An odd sound was heard from below, beside Raye, and it was soon joined by a similar sound from beside Mina, followed by a source from just behind Lita. And lastly, the prince, beside and slightly behind Serena, burst out laughing along with his Generals. This outburst shook the warring pair from their 'battlefield' and they abruptly retreated their weapons. Serena and Raye looked at their friends, Lita, Mina, and Amy, whom were all smiling, then they looked at each other. Smiles widening, the girls joined in the laughter. Serena, not used to laughing so freely, was the first to stop, and watched as the others enjoyed each other's smiles. Serena smiled sadly, then looked at the chuckling prince, who looked as if he did this sort of thing often with his friends. And suddenly, abruptly, Serena's heart encased itself in ice once again, and she stopped smiling, turned, and walked quietly down the hall, away from the sound of merriment. Tears pressed against her eyes as she walked down the hallway, and she pushed them back brutely. 'I'll bet he's never known hardship in his life.' Serena raged quietly. 'Just sat in his silken room on his gilded throne and watched the little people toil away, not caring in the slightest.' Serena narrowed her eyes against more tears of anger, and walked quicker, not watching where she was going, only wanting to get away. 'Why?' She thought angrily, 'Why does he not see it? How can he not? Does he ever go outside? He must not, otherwise he would see the tyranny and poverty in his own kingdom. How can he not care? How can he be so heartless?' She stopped suddenly, whirled, silver and white swirling about her in the form of silk, and slammed a fist into the cold stone wall. "And why the heck can't I help but feel like I care for him?" She raged aloud. "Why do I feel as if I'm connected to him, like he's unconsciously calling to me for help ever time I look into those eyes?" Her voice became softer as more words came, followed by more tears. She was positive she had cried more in this castle in the past month than in her entire life. 'Why...?' "Because you are meant to be." Serena whirled around, prepared to fight, as a voice chimed from behind her. So startled at hearing another voice other than her own, she didn't register the words. "Wh...? Whose there?" She demanded, overcoming her initial shock. "I am...well, it is difficult to say. It is not yet time for you to remember me, Maiden. But I shall appear to you in a way that will not foil Fate and Destiny's plans." Before Serena, a tiny portal seemed to open, swirls of gold, silver, and deep royal purple. Serena backed away, silently cursing her skirts; they would greatly interfer if it came to a fight. The voice didn't sound threatening, but you never knew. Serena spread her feet apart, squared her shoulders, and clenched her fists before her. Narrowing her eyes, Serena hid her shock well -as experience had taught her- when a black cat stepped out of the mist that had gathered around the portal. The cat was tinged a slight purple, with deep, nealry black blue eyes. But what was peculiar about her -Serena was sure the feline was a she for some reason- was the odd golden crescent moon symbol on the cat's forehead. The mark seemed to be resting on it's side, the tips curled and pointing upward, nearly meeeting in perfectly symetrical archs. "Who are you?" Serena demanded, unwaveringly, much unlike her child self, whom probably would have run at the first sign of anything odd. "You may call me...Well, for now you may refer to me as Moon Guardian." "Moon Guardian?" "Yes." "Uh, sorry to be a little...pessimistic, but, what exactly is there on the moon to guard? Last time I checked the place was pretty...deserted. What is there to protect?" "Much more than you know." "Obviously." Serena looked around cautiously. "And uh, what was that you said the first time? I was sure I was alone. Obviously I was mistaken." "The mixed feelings you are having for the Terran Prince are understandable. If you have truely forgotten what I said, that's good. I probably shouldn't have said it." "Uh-huh." Serena said, disbelief clearly etched into her face. "So...you also just said something about me...remembering you? What the heck did you mean by that, if you please?" "Just what I said; It is not yet time." The Moon Guardian said. "And yet, time itself is becoming short. Beryl is coming back into her powers, therefore I must give you back yours." "Beryl? Who the heck is Beryl?" Serena asked, glad for Mina's acting lessons. The very mention of the name 'Beryl,' for some reason unknown to Serena, sent shivers of danger and fear down her spine. "An entity of great evil and hate." The cat's voice ratiated with loathing. "She is putrid flesh alive. Beware of her." "Uh, how can I be cautious around her if I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT???" "You will find out soon." The black feline inspected a paw, completely unfazed by Serena's whisper-yelled outburst. Serena blinked, then shook her head. This was getting to be too much. How did this animal know all this? What's more was she was surprised at how readily she had accepted that a cat was TALKING to her! Then again, she had said some things that implied that this was not her true form, so that could explain why Serena was okay with it. But still... "Okay, you are the guardian of...something on the moon, there's this whacko lady named Beryl that I should avoid, somehow I get the impression that I know you, yet you say it's good that I don't remember you, cause it's, what was the phrase? Oh, yes, 'Not time,' and 'Interfere with Fate and Destiny's plans?'" Serena placed her hands firmly on her hip and rolled her eyes. "Puh-leeze! What kind of joke is this?" "This is no joke, Serenity." "Hey..." Serena suddenly stopped shaking her head and looked at the black feline. "How did you know my real name? Wait, don't answer that; I don't think I want to know." "Indeed, even if you did I could not tell you." The 'Moon Guardian' nodded her head. "But, I can tell you this; your world, this Universe, is in grave danger." Something about the cat's tone demanded Serena listen. And she did. But she made sure that the cat didn't know that. Inspecting a nail, Serena yawned, and leaned against a wall with leisure. "SERENA!!!" The cat screamed, and jumped onto the blonde's shoulder. "Are you LISTENING?" "How can I not with you screaming in my ear." Serena winced. "Pipe down, Luna." The cat gasped, and nearly fell off Serena before regaining her balance and jumping down, looked up at the girl with shock written in her features. "How...how did you know my name?" The cat hissed. "Hmmmm? What? What was that, 'Moon' Guardian?" Serena said with scorn. "What did you just call me?" "Uh...'Moon Guardian?'" Serena said, looking as if she though the feline were a ditz. "That IS what you told me to call you." "No, before that. You called me by my name. What was it?" The cat stared intensely into Serena's eyes. Serena looked genuinly confused. "I said, 'Pipe down, kitty.' Why?" "Hmmm..." The black cat mused. Either she was a good liar, or it had been a temporary, and unmemorable relapse in the young woman's memory. Something told her the latter was the case. "Nothing." The cat said, and sat down. "Now, what I was saying. I can tell you very little, but what I can tell you is to be on the lookout for evil. It is fast approaching, and the only one who can stop it is in hiding. You must find her." "Oh, gee, that helps alot, furball." Serena said sarcastically. "How am I gonna find someone if you don't tell me anything about her?" "You will know her when you see her." The cat stated. "Now, until you find her, you will have to act as her representative, and hold back the negative power that threatens your world." "Wow, wow, wow..." Serena held up her hands. "Representative?" She said increduously. "Representative of what?" "The Moon." "Uh-huh. There goes that Moon theme again." "Serenity Lunari! You must take me seriously! Your life, the lives of everyone on Earth and throughout the Solar System, your friends, are all in grave danger! Until the Lunar Princess is found, you must repel this force! You are the only one who can!" "Are you saying I'm the only one who can fight this stuff?" Serena asked. As much as she hated to admit it, she was starting to believe this talking furball. "Exactly." Serena took a deep breath. Something told her this was gonna get ugly soon. "Do I get to fight this...force...Alone?" "No, there are four others. They can help, but their powers will be no where near as great as yours, so the bulk of the fighting will belong to you." The cat answered. "Wonderful." Serena muttered. She looked down at the feline. "I take it I'm to use my powers?" "Powers..." The cat looked shocked. "You mean you know about them already?" "I've known about them since I was six." Serena said darkly, her tone implying that the subject was not to be followed. "Well, this is a surprise. Convienient, but unexpected." The Moon Guardian mused. "Do you know how to use your powers?" "I know how to activate them, but once my powers have been released...Well, there's really no stopping it until it decides to stop on its own, really. I can control it only enough to keep it from killing anyone. Now, anyways. I couldn't always." Again, the young woman's eyes clouded over with darkness. "I see." The cat nodded. Serena winced in annoyance. It was very odd to see a cat nod it's head thoughtfully like a human would. Even more disterbing to see it cross it's front legs like arms, as she did now, tapping her foot, still deep in thought. "I think that'll help. Now you don't have to get used to your magic. Your new Power Rod should help you control your abilities." "Power Rod?" Serena echoed. "Uh, hello? I haven't heard of any Power Rod." "That would be because I haven't given it to you yet." The black feline trotted a ways away, then leaped into the air, spinning a full flip before landing on the ground, a stick in her mouth. "'ere...'ake et." the cat sat at Serena's feet as Serena knelt before the cat and took the item from the feline's jaws. It was a smooth, milky silver rod about as long as her forarm from her elbow to her wrist. There was a ring of gold at the bottome, and the top of it bore a eight point star, the top most and bottom most points being by far the longest. A silver crescent moon was on top of it, on both sides. The entire length of the rod radiated with silver magic and raw energy. "Kami..." Serena whispered, as the wand began pulsing with silver energy, and Serena suddenly felt silver begin to seep across her vision and over her flesh. Serena started to panic, when something stoped her. It was different this time. It wasn't overpowering her, forcing her will to submission. Instead, she felt her power await her command, sitting, waiting, to be released at will. HER will. Serena smiled as the star and crescent moon began pulsing. "Do you accept your duty, Serenity Lunari?" The Moon Guardian at Serena's feet asked, her voice strong. "Do you swear to use your powers only for good, to find the Lunar Princess, and help her defeat the evil that threatens the Solar System now, and any evil that may come forever after? Do you promise to defend this world, this Universe, with you life, your passion, and your power?" Serena looked downa at the serious feline, her face expressionless, save for the tears that were runnning down her face. "I swear, and I accept. Luna." Luna, the Moon Guardian, smiled gently. Somehow she knew it would be long before Serena remembered her name permanently. "Very well, Serenity." Luna said gently. "Then repeat after me, and embrace your destiny. Silver Star Transformation: Make-up!" Serena nodded, and raised her Power Wand, the Silver Star Rod, and shouted the words that seemed to come from her heart. "SILLLLLVER! STAR! TRANSFOOOOOORMATION!!! MAKE...*!!!!UP!!!*" Before Serena had even finished her words of power, she had been lifted into the air, the space around her transformed into a swirling silver and gold and white votex. Minature white galaxies spun around her slender form, vaporizing her white gown, turning it into a silver mist that clung to her body and hid her feminine features. Spinning like a graceful angel, downy whte wings sprouted in a mist of silver glitter from her back, reaching around her to wrap around her body. A silver mist surrounded her once again, and the mist began to spin around her, forming swirling ribbons of silver and gold. The ribbons latched onto Serena's body, around her torso, forearms, and lower legs, along with her feet. With a final, spectatrical flash of silver and gold light, littered with tiny silver stars and gold crescent moons, an angel was seen floating just above the ground, her wings flapping lightly, silently. Serena opened her eyes to find herself flying above the ground, suspended by two angel wings. Oddly, she was perfectly calm, as if the whole thing were perfectly natural. And they were, for her. Serena glanced down at herself, and her eyebrows rose slightly in mild surprise. She was clad in a tight, pure white body suit and a short, thigh length pleated silver skirt. A triangle shaped bandana hung over her shoulders, the same color as her skirt. A gold bow on the front of her chest kept the bandana in place, and upon looking over her should she discovered a matching gold bow just above her behind. High, knee lenght white boots were on her feet, edged at a point in silver, with a gold crescent moon on the points, and two smaller silver stars on either side. a white ribon with her symbol -moon over star- was her choker, and daangling, matching earrings hung from her earlobes. Her hair had been transformed from golden blonde to a bright, glittering silver that flowed in endless cascades to about a foot beyond her feet. Her newly colored locks had been wound up into two twin spheres of silver locks, each with a thick, silky strand of hair silver flowing from it. Instinctively Serena knew that her eyes were silver as well, with flecks of blue. "What...No, WHO am I?" Serena waid wonderingly, letting herself flutter back down the ground. Silver glitter sparkled off her wings at the increased movement. "You are the Ambassador of the Moon, the Lunar Soldier, Sailor Selenity." Luna announced proudly, chest puffed out as if she had delivered her first kitten. And in a way, she had. The first of five. The Sailor Ambassadors were soon to follow their leader, Sailor Selenity, the Lunar Soldier of Peace. "The Moon Ambassador had been born. " Luna said happily, yet solomly. "Now, now there is hope for the Universe." Luna directed her eyes to out a large window. Serena, Sailor Selenity, followed Luna's gaze, and smiled as she saw a golden shooting star flash across the silver crescent moon. And Serena smiled. From her heart. Suddenly she felt as if she had a purpose in life, and she was going to fullfill it. No matter what. END PART SIX To Be Continued... Whoa! Me like! This part was soooooo fun to write!
