Queen of Legends, part three, by Sailor GlitterGirl, April 2001 *sigh* I'm boooooored!!!!! I don't particulary feel like writing, but there's nothing else to do other than homework, and there's no way I'm gonna do THAT! Ugh. I hate history. Anyhoo, who liked part two? I STILL haven't gotten any feedback on it. *sniff* Don't you guys like me? Well, even if you don't, tough; I'm still writing! Oh, but I did get a comment about the prologue regarding Serena's hairstyle she (I forget your name! Gomen Nasai!) wanted to know if the 'meatballs' would be back. The answer is yes. Serena's hair style plays an important roll in this story. Really! Just wait and see! Now, read the fic before you get tired of me! -Sailor GlitterGirl **********QUEEN OF LEGENDS********** Part Three: Golden Reality, Black Nightmare Rated: PG, for emotional drama By: Sailor GlitterGirl At: emeraldgoddess@SailorJupiter.com "Uuugggnnn...ughhhh..." Mina groaned, rolling over with a yawn as the waking world came unbidden to drag her up from her dreamland. Snuggling her face into the pillow, she suddenly noticed that something was missing, and that something else was out of place. She sniffed, then listened intently. With a gasp, Mina abruptly remembered the events at the prison, Serena rescueing them, the Generals, Kunzite... Mina sat up in bed with a jolt, remembering falling asleep in the leading General's arms on the horse. Wrapping her arms against the shiver of delight at the memory, Mina took notice for the fist time that she was wearing a satin, sphagetti strap night gown that went to her ankles with a slit up to the knee. It had a vee neck-line and a slightly swooped back. Navy blue ribbon lined it all, and was stitched with gold. Her eyes wandered from her elegant night gown to the rest of the room, and she gasped. The room was done completely in her three favorite colors, mostly a golden orange, along with sunlight yellow and dark cobalt blue. The walls were drapped with rich tapestries, Mina's immediate favorite was one of the goddess of Venus, Aphrodite, rising from the sea on a cusion of sea foam, bathed in a beam of golden sunlight reflecting off her white-gold hair, and making her sky blue eyes sparkle. Mina cautiously climbed out of bed, and stumbled when she realized that the bed was a few feet off the ground. She found the footstool, and stepped down. Slipping her feet into satin covered slippers, she walked around the room, her eyes drinking in the luxery and beauty. Never in her life had she seen such a rich and lush room, with pillows and thick draps everywhere, the walls covered in a glittery gold-orange gauze, with blue flowers and yellow roses everywhere; she felt as if she were princess of the sun, surrounded by all this golden decor. Still wide eyed and gaping, Mina stepped into the dressing room, and her jaw hit the floor as she saw a second room, almost as big as the first. The entire wall directly in front of her wall was lined with dozens of unimaginably beautiful gowns, each with their own pair of shoes beneath them, and a shelf above bearing hats and hair accessories to go. On the wall opposite of that, next to Mina, was a huge dressing table, with a shiny mirror lined with orange daisy patterns on a gold frame. Cosmetics and perfumes and hairbrushes covered the desk, all in a neat order. On the wall to her right were drawers filled with underthings, panties, bras, petticoats, corsets, ect. And the wall to her left was concealed by a dressing screen, decorated like a field of dasies and wild roses, with sunlight coating everything in a glossy glow. The pale golden haired girl cautiously walked across the room, and gently stroked the unimaginably smooth silk of a dark blue gown lined with gold stitching. Never had her fingers known such softness, and her rough skin snagged the material slightly, causing Mina to pull away. After running her fingers lightly over the painting on the dressing screen, Mina carefully lifted and examined everything on the dressing table, then hesitantly sat down and ran a gold washed brush through her tangled tresses until they fell like melted white gold to her knees. Mina then took a length of orange ribbon with gold velvet brocade off of a silver tray and did her hair up in her normal fashion, thrilled that for once she was able to use real ribbons, instead of a dirty strip of cloth. Her hair done, Mina walked back into the huge main room, with the bed in a center under a canopy of thick gold draperies and glittering orange gauze. Looking everything over again, Mina was finally able to close her mouth and put her hands on her hips. "Just what kind of bet did that Prince and Serena MAKE?" She exclaimed, throwing up her hands in bewilderment. A soft chuckle behind her made her whirl, her body automatically going into a fighting stance, or as least as much of one as the night gown would allow. "K...Kunzite?!" Mina stuttered, staring at the man before her. He was wearing dark, nearly black leggings with black boots covering his feet up to the knees, and had on a metallic orange and gold tunic over a white shirt. (AN: Okay, a little colorful, I know, but I'm a fashion finatic.) "Good morning, Mina," He said, smiling. Mina stared, flabbergastered. "Uh, g-good morning," she said, slowly easing out of her stiff stance. Looking around she asked hesitantly, "H...How long have you been there?" She asked. "All night," came the reply. Mina's jaw dropped. "Of course, a guard took over for a little while so I could take a nap and change, but beside that I was here from midnight until...now." Mina simply stared, then suddenly her jaw snapped shut and she glared. "You think we're gonna steal something, don't you?" she growled. Kunzite didn't flinch. "I just follow orders, Mina. Personally, I don't think you'd have the guts to try anything, not in the Royal Palace, but we have to follow the rules." Mina scowled at him, narrowing her eyes to angry slits. Then, remembering her masquerade as a dumb blonde, Mina burst out in erratic giggles, all the while trying to figure out what had made her drop her guard without noticing. "Well, I take it I can wear something in there?" she questioned, pointing to the dressing room while giggling and batting her eyelashes, smiling prettily. Mina silently relished the disgusted look on Kunzite's face; she had managed to fool him! Kunzite nodded, then turned and headed towards the door. "A maid will be in here shortly to help you dress, then she'll show you to Miss Lunari's room, where you will meet the other girls." With that, he was gone, without a good-bye. Mina let out a sigh of relief as she watched the door close. Then she headed back into the room, intending to pick out her outfit. A small shrill of delight escaped her lips when the realization that she had her pick of all those pretty things hit her, and she rushed into the room with a girlishly delighted smile on her face. *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* "Did you guys SEE those rooms?" Lita blanched, talking quietly with Serena and Amy in Serena's rooms, waiting for Mina and Raye. "Mine was all forest green and rose pink; my favorite colors, too! And on the wall was a huge painting of a lightning maiden, controling a thunder storm! That is soooo me!" "And did you see the detail?" Amy added. "Everything was in a precise order, everything in it's place! And the room was all blue and white, with gauze and glass bubbles everywhere; it was like I was underwater!" Even Amy was excited, which for Amy was saying quite a bit, seeing as she was excited over a room and not some new mathamatics book. "And what about yours, Serena?" Lita exclaimed as she looked around at the silver, white, and opalescent atomosphere. It was undeniably breathtaking. "Oh, I LOVE it! All silver and pearly white...Oh, and I love that beautiful tapestry with that moon kingdom, and a moon princess on a balcony..." Serena pointed to the subject of her glee. "Oooh, and that prince down below holding a red rose up to her...*sigh* It's perfect!" Serena rested her chin in her hands as her elbows rested on the armrest, with glittering stars in her eyes as she gazed at the tapestry. Lita and Amy smiled. This was romantic, fun loving Serena that they knew. It had been a while since she had been able to be this happy. "It's just totally gorgeous!" The golden haired blonde sighed. "Definately! And what about these OUTFITS?" Exclaimed a new voice. "Mina!" Serena shrieked, and leaped up from her seat in a white, cream colored brocade plush chair, and embraced her gold clad friend, then Raye, who had followed Mina. "LOOK at you!" Serena exclaimed, returning to Mina, holding her hands and pulling away to look at her. "Look at me? What about you, 'Rena; you look like a...like the moon goddess, or something!" (AN: I luuuuuuve irony!) It was true, all five girls were beautifully made out. Lita, in a satin gown on dark forest green with a full skirt and three pleats going virtically from her waist to the hem, and a swooped, gathered neckline. A pink rose pendant on a gold chain accented her slender neck and strong shoulders. Amy, in her simple beauty, wore a full length, navy blue velvet gown in a summerdress style, with inch wide shoulder straps, and a straight neckline lined with silver. Raye was adorned in a stunning red satin that faded like fire into red-orange, then gold orange, then finally a brilliant yellow as the material worked its way up to the fan shapped straps that covered her shoulders. "I feel like I'm in heaven!" Raye said, plopping down onto a couch and resting her elbows on her knees, propping her chin in her hands. And giving anyone who cared to look a clear view down her bosom. Amy noticed this and blushed scarlet. Serena, seeing her friend's new facial coloring, looked where the blue haired young woman was staring, then burst out laughing, collapsing into a chair, arms wrapped around her sides. "What?" Raye asked, looking at the blushing Amy, laughing Serena, giggling Mina, and amused Lita. "What is it?" "Um, Raye?" Mina giggled. "I think you should..." "Should what?" "Look down." Lita finished as Mina dissolved into a fit of genuine giggles in a chair next to Serena. Raye obliged and turned as red as her dress at the sight. Sitting up straight and leaning back on the couch she folded her arms over her chest, glaring and blushing. "Some friends you are." she muttered. "Hey, at least we told you before the guys or whoevers meeting us came in." Lita pointed out, taking a seat beside Amy on the other couch as Mina and Serena regained their composure, wiping away tears of mirth. "Sorry, Raye." Serena apologized. "It's just that...Well-" "We needed a laugh." Mina said a bit seriously, then sighed. "The last week or two hasn't been easy for any of us." "Yeah, let's just enjoy our stay while we can, however long that is." Lita said, somewhat regretfully. Something told her she wouldn't be doing much kick fighting and boxing here, and part of her would miss that. "Yes, we should take this opportunity to recooperate." Amy said thoughtfully, "I am most excited about getting a look at the library; I hear it is most extraordinary." "Trust Amy to get excited about the books instead of the accomdations-" "Or the dresses and make-up," Supplied Mina, cutting Serena off. "Or the magical properties of this place," Raye added. "Or the training yards," Lita said excitedly. "Man this place is gonna be GREAT!" Mina exclaimed. "I wouldn't get my hopes up." "Huh?" Four girls looked said quizzically, looking to find the owner of the cold and cordial voice. They were shocked to find it coming from a standing Serena, leaning against the stone frame of the window that looked over a meadow. Standing there, bathed in sunlight, her silver gown glittered beautifully along with the diamond pendant and earrings around her neck and on her earlobes. Her shimmering golden hair was done up into an array of golden curls, tumbling over the sides and back of her head and down her bare neck. "Serena?" Mina asked tentively, standing and walking over to her friend. "Serena, are you alright." Serena's expression only grew colder as she continued to stare out into nothingness. "Just do me a favor, all of you," she said, not ackowledging the worried looks she was recieving, ignoring Mina's concerned hand on her shoulder. "What?" Raye asked. Serena turned and faced them, the coldness in her eyes masking something long fogotten, something her friends and comrades hadn't seen in their queen for a long time. Pain. True pain from memories long fogotten. Mina shuddered as she remembered one time, a long while ago, when Mina had seen this look Serena for the first time, and had asked what was wrong. Serena had looked at her much as she looked at them now, with those same cold, pain-hiding eyes, and said only one thing, the only answer that they ever got. "The past." And that was it. She never said anything else, ever again, and they never asked. "What is it?" Lita repeated the question. "Don't get attached to this lifestyle. It won't last. It never does." And she turned away, back to the window, memories of another time and place suddenly flashing through her mind, and one fact about these memories that continued to haunt her. The fact that these memories were only dreams. She had proved that to herself time and time again, and yet she could only think of them as one thing; memories. **********FLASH*BACK********** "Papa!" the little, silver haired child cried out, terrified at the sight before her as she saw a lone man fall at the bite of another warrior's blade. She screamed as the warrior drew the sword from her father's corpse, clutching her ears and shaking her head, desperately trying to pry her eyes away from what lay before her, but unable to divert her gaze. Soldiers, men, women, children, all dead. Their bodies litering the ground below, a ways away. The little girl stared, horrified, from her bedroom balcony. She had woken up that morning to the sounds of fighting. But not the mock sword fights her daddy and friends got into. No, she had been able to hear screaming, fires, cries of agony and heartache as mothers saw their children slaughtered. The crystal blue eyed girl gaped at the bloody scene before her, not bothering to wipe away the tears as they flowed freely, liquid diamonds on her pale face. "Daddy..." she whispered, and collapsed to the polished marble floor, sobbing her young heart out. Her father, her mentor, gone... A woman's voice drifted through her tears like a waft of savory scents, a tinkling music to sore ears. The flanced up sharply, suddenly, glittering tears flying about her ans she leaped to her feet and dashed into her mother's arms, tears flowing anew. "Mama..." the girls sobbed, choking on her tears, her heart being ripped to shreds at seeing first her home, then her father massacred, destroyed, taken away. Would the pain ever go away? No, she thought, pain this horrible could never leave. How could she forget this? "Sshh, sshhh, my baby, hush my darling little princess." the woman holding the trembling girl soothed, rubbing her back and brushing aside locks of her daughter's long, silvery hair, desperately trying to suppress her own tears of pain and sorrow over the man she loved, for her daughter's sake she had to be strong. Rocking her baby back and forth, the two females, a widowed mother and a fatherless child, cried. Suddenly, the door to silver haired girl's bedchambers burst open, and stinking, hideous, giant soldiers and warriors tropped in. They kept pouring in, one right after the other, surrounding the child and her mother, sneering and laughing, jeering at the fallen- **********END*FLASH*BACK********* Serena was suddenly yanked from her depressing memories as the door to her room was suddenly opened, though more politely than in her 'memories,' and a middle-aged woman entered, dressed in the traditional pale yellow of palace servants. "You ladyships' prescence it required in the privet library of Master Doctor Motoki Anderson, and His Highness, the Crown Heir to the Earth Empire, Prince Endymion Darien Ter'ar." She said as she curtsied prettily. Amy, Raye, and Lita were at a lost at what to say or do, even Mina was fumbling around in her mind for appropriate words, but their worries were cut short when Serena's somewhat softened voice spoke. "Thank you for informing us. Please wait a moment outside the door while we freshen ourselves for the prescence of his Highness. Then would you be so kind as to show us the way?" "Of course, mi'lady." The woman curtsied again, bowing her head slightly in a gesture of respect. Then the woman backed out of the room, closing the door silently behind her. Turning to face the man next to her, the servant kneeled and bowed her head low. "You Highness, their reply was-" "I heard it." Darien cut in smoothly, his voice like ice. He scowled as Dr. Anderson beside him smirked slightly, his expression clearly stating 'I told you so.' "You haven't won yet, Dr." Darien grumbled. "I told you; she has wit and imagination. That doesn't mean she has manners. It's easy to act properly to a lowly servant, but we still have to see how they behave to my honored father and mother." With that, and his scowl still plastered angrily to his face, Darien strode away. *The doctor wins the first test,* Darien thought. *Or rather, that Lunari girl did. That's fine. I'll win next time. I'm sure of it.* Natural low-lives like them can't possibly live up to the standards of the court; it was impossible. And yet, in the back of his mind, and at the down at the bottom, in a long fogotten place in his heart, the cold prince cheered wildly for the success of the golden haired, sapphire eyes young woman. To Be Continued... Sorry this part was so short, but I got impatient and decided to end it there. Once again, all flames, comments, advice, and, of course, praise welcom.
