P.B. was born 1 Aug 1924 in Canada (due to location of hospital), home was in Maine. He died 11 Aug 2005 in Brandon (hospital there), FL and was buried 13 Aug 2005 (memorial svc.) in Tampa, FL.

2.      Murlin Leslie PRICE5,6 was born7,8,9 3 Mar 1891 in Linton, Greene Co, IN, USA. He died10 7 Aug 1949 in Tampa, FL, USA and was buried 9 Aug 1949 in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa, FL. Murlin married11,12 Edna Dorothy BARRITT in Tampa Heights Methodist Church, Tampa, FL, USA.

 

         OCCUPATION: accountant/bookkeeper, musician.  Owner of M.L. Price Music Company

          

         MILITARY SERVICE: US Army (Sergeant) from July 1917 - April 26, 1919 (enlisted Jul 26, 1917, in

         Tampa, FL).  Enlistment Record shows "excellent" character.  Honorable Discharge papers state "He

         had brown eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, and was five feet eight inches in height."

          

         Native of Linton, IN, he came to Tampa in 1911.  "While he was to play a concert in Tampa, Edna

         Barritt was asked if she would accompany him [Murlin Leslie Price] - that is how they met."

          

         One of the founders of the University of Tampa.  Also, an organizer of the Egypt Temple Shrine Band. 

         Was also a former director of music at Hillsborough High School. (newspaper articles)

          

         Professional violinist.

         OCCUPATION: Appointed US Customs Agent President Coolidge (1925-1930).  Federal Deputy

         Marshal 1921-1925, 1930-?. (newspaper articles)

          

         reat fiddler who played at many barn dances.  Once wrote a letter to friends in Indiana telling them to

         come to Florida...because women had big chests here! (personal letter)

          

         Was chairman of the Republican county committee- Hillsborough County (from newspaper articles

         dated 1927, 1928).

          

         Lived at 1900 Morgan Street, Tampa, FL as of newspaper article dated Dec. 25, 1927.

          

         Was a knight of the Supreme Lodge Knights of Pythias in Linton, Indiana (became member May 11,

         1888.

          

5.      Ada Martha AIKMAN23 was born24 18 Jun 1871. She died25 16 Feb 1937 and was buried26 in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa, FL.

 

         Founder of the Bay View Club in Linton, Indiana (president 1904-1905) organized in 1901.

          

         Called Nanny Price by grandchildren.

          

6.      William James BARRITT Sr.27,28 was born29,30,31 6 Jan 1879 in London, England. He died32,33 9 Mar 1944 in Tampa, FL, USA and was buried34 in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL. William married35 Blanche Bell (Isobel) DANHAUER on Sep 20 or 22 1899 in Tampa, FL, USA.

 

         Moved to United States in 1886.

          

         Became first to pasteurize milk in Tampa (@1900).  In 1912, he began making ice cream.  In 1915, the

         company became Tampa Dairy Co., then Poinsettia Ice Cream Co., and in 1929 it became Poinsettia

         Dairy Products (acquired by Borden Co. in 1943).

          

7.      Blanche Bell (Isobel) DANHAUER36,37 was born38 14 Apr 1871 in Deavertown, OH, USA. She died39,40 23 May 1949 in Tampa, FL, USA and was buried41 in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL.

         Had two foster mothers growing up, whom she called "Mother Godfrey" & "Mother Wittlinger"

8.      Levi Moss PRICE42 was born43 16 Apr 1836 in Greene Co., IN, USA. He died44 10 Sep 1910 in Greene Co., IN and was buried45 in Fairvew Cemetery. Levi married Margaret J. HALE (HAIL) on 27 Oct 1857.

 

         Son of pioneers.

          

         OCCUPATION: farming, stock raising, coal mine in Greene County

          

         MILITARY SERVICE: (From newspaper obituary of wife Margaret) With the outbreak of the Civil

         War, he "volunteered in Company E, 59th Indiana infantry, serving under General Grant and

         subsequently under General Sherman when he made the march to sea.".  (From Levi's  newspaper

         obituary) "He served with the famous regiment under Grant in the Department of the Mississippi and

         subsequently under Sherman in the Tennessee, Georgia and Carolinas campaigns and battles, in which

         his command was engaged, taking part in the siege of Vicksburg, the numerous battles around Atlanta

         and was with his regiment in the celebrated march of Sherman to the sea.  His regiment marched

         further, fought harder and won more credit and deserves greater gratitude than any regiment in the

         Civil War."

          

         er the war, Levi & Margaret made progress in their pursuit of farming & stock raising, acquiring

         several hundred acres & sinking & operating Summit mine, one of the first coal mines in Greene

         County.  After fifty years of wedded life they erected a new home in Linton, in which they celebrated

         their anniversary.  For eighteen years they spent their winters in New Smyrna, Fla., where they built a

         home & made many friends.

          

9.      Margaret J. HALE (HAIL)46 was born47 7 Aug 1835 in Hymera, Sullivan Co., IN, USA. She died48 1924 and was buried49 in Fairview Cemetery.

 

         She was known in Linton as "Grandma Price."

          

10.     Archibald AIKMAN50 was born51 1836 in Daviess Co., IN, USA. He died52 7 Dec 1894 in Dugger, Sullivan Co., IN and was buried53 9 Dec 1894 in Prairie Chapel. Archibald married54 Elizabeth PLUMMER on 1858.

 

         OCCUPATION: carpenter; in 1870 he became an undertaker

          

         In 1880, first elected Trustee of Washington Township, & in 1882, was re-elected.

          

         Married a total of three times.  Newspaper article states he was "58 years, 5 months and 20 days old"

         when he died (which would probably be 1894).  Article states "was three times married and the father

         of seven living children -- Will Aikman, of Vincennes; Effie Davidson and Lillie Aikman, of Lyons;

         Ada Price, of Linton, and Grace, Archie and Ethel Aikman, of Dugger."

          

11.     Elizabeth PLUMMER55 was born about 1839 in Indiana, USA. She died56 1877.

 

12.     William BARRITT57 was born58,59 1855 in England. He died60,61 1936 in Tampa, FL, USA and was buried in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL. William married62 Annie Martha KITRIDGE.

 

         OCCUPATION: dairy farm - outskirts of Tampa, FL (Valrico)

          

         Came to US in 1886; the boat went up the river to Sanford, FL & from there the Barritt family

         migrated to Mount Dora, FL.  They planted an orange grove there using the small orange trees they

         had brought with them.  They lost the grove in the "Big Freeze" of 1895 & the family moved to Tampa,

         FL.

          

         After first coming to Tampa, he got a job as meat cutter at Mr. W. G. Allen's butcher shop (W.J., Sr.

         was  a delivery boy).  A little later, William went into the dairy business with Mr. Bray (Barritt & Bray

         Dairy).

          

13.     Annie Martha KITRIDGE63 was born64,65 1858. She died66,67 1900 in Tampa, FL, USA and was buried in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL.

 

         Came to US in 1886; moved to Tampa around 1895.

          

14.     Elias DANHAUER Jr.68 was born69 14 Nov 1828 in Muskingum Co., OH, USA. He died70 29 Nov 1873 in OH, USA and was buried71 in Deavertown Methodist Church Cemetery, Deavertown, OH, USA. Elias married72 Alvira RICHARDSON on 8 Aug 1851 in Deavertown, Ohio, USA.

         MILITARY SERVICE: fought in Civil War.  Enlisted in the Army at Malta, Ohio for 3 years - 97th

15.     Alvira RICHARDSON73 was born74 about 1834 in OH, USA. She died75 25 Feb 1882 in New Lexington, OH, USA.

         She and her husband resided in Wells County, Indiana.

          

          

18.     Rev. Martin HALE (HAIL)78,79 was born80 1799 in Virginia. He died 12 Sep 1885 and was buried in Dugger, Hale (Hail) Cem, IN, USA. Martin married81 Phoebe / Phebe HINKLE in Virginia, USA.

 

         Pioneer Methodist Preacher.  Came to Greene Co, IN when he was 21 years of age.

          

         He & Phoebe had nine children.

          

19.     Phoebe / Phebe HINKLE82 was born 4 Apr 1809 in Cumberland Co, KY, USA. She died 6 Feb 1894 in Flora, Clay Co., IL, USA.

 

         She & Martin had nine children.

          

20.     Hugh AIKMAN83,84,85 was born86,87 12 Mar 1812 in Daviess Co., IN, USA. He died88 between 1885 - 1913. Hugh married89 Ada WILLIAMS on 28 Jun 1833 in Daviess Co., IN, USA.

         There is a plaque in one of the Abbeys in St. Paul's Cathedral with information about the Milmans.

         On Sep 5 1803, "Alias and John Danhour" arrived in Philadelphia, PA. They had sailed from Hamburg,

          Germany, on the ship "Charlotte", whose master was Thomas Horton.  Acquired land in Muskingum

         Co, OH (Apr 29 1814).  (Morris, pg 33)

         MILITARY SERVICE: Soldier of the American Revolution.  "Citizens of Hymera, IN erected a statue

         Nathaniel (Nathan) Henkle (Hinkle) son of Anthony Hinkle, the 3rd, was born in Pennsylvania in 1749;

          he belong to the Pennsylvania rifle regiment; enlisted in April 1776, Capt. Christ Co. of Col. Miles

         regiment, in Lancaster County, in Pennsylvaia. he was in most all the main battles of the war; was

         discharged at Red Lions. He moved to Lawrence County, Indiana, and died in Sullivan County, Indiana,

          on December 25, 1848, and is buried at Hymera. Now all I want is who he married, and when, and

         when she died. He was married in Pennsylvania, but do not know her name.
