The Aztecs
It was 1997, and I was in my first period World History class. My teacher, Mr. Miller, was beginning his lecture on the tribes of the Americas. Mr. Miller's lectures were never boring; he was a very animated lecturer. He made history fun. I can still see him leaning over a student's desk, telling us how the Aztec priests would rip the still-beating heart out of their human sacrifices and eat it.  Call it what you will, the Aztecs are memorable.
You know them best ast the people who built Tenochtitlan, the city of gold, built on a lake. Tenochtitlan- razed by the Spanish- would  be rebuilt as Mexico City. The lake the city was built on (Lake Texoco) would be filled in.  The Aztecs- who called themselves the Mexica - gave Mexico its name. Join me, if you will, as I tell you a little bit about them.
