Name: Stephen. I prefer Stephen, although I don't mind being called "Steve" by my professors.
Age: I'm twenty-three.
Status: At this point in my life, I am not looking for romance. Perhaps when I'm older, but not now.
Location: "If there's a bright center of the universe, you're on the planet it's fartherest from." That essentially sums up my feelings about the town I grew up in, Selma. Most of the year, though, I reside in the small town of Montevallo. I love living here. It's a beautiful town.
- I like spending time with people, but tend to be introverted and like time to myself, too.
- After taking two years off between colleges to determine what I wanted out of life, I am now finishing my junior year at the University of Montevallo. I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in History, as well as a sociology minor.
- I was raised in a fundamentalist Pentecostal home, but outgrew it and have been a Humanist for the past two years. You can read my deconversion story for details. I also practice Stoicism.
- I don't like feeling like a trend-follower, so I typically discover things late. This past August (of '07) I gave in to a number of friends and read the first Harry Potter books. Now I've read the series several times and am officially a Potterhead.
- I like the weather to be wet and cold.
- I have a number of favorite animals: tigers, wolves, and hawks top the list..
- My interests include history, zoology, political geography, urban geography, sociology, philosophy, cosmology, the German language, and other related sciences. Pursuant to these interests, I am a regular visitor to libraries, zoos, planetariums, museums, and I-MAX theaters.
- I enjoy every kind of music except rap and Chinese opera.
